Character Strength

I absolutely loved the first book. I actually secretly believe that one of my favorite authors is actually writing this series under a different name, but there’s no way for me to prove that. I think it was a phenomenal feat in the first book to really sell and ground a lesbian romance storyline in a stranded on an island plot line, but it worked. It worked because we really got to know both characters and they were explosive together, especially their love scenes where the author took off the boundaries and just let the characters go to some places that a lesser writer would find difficult to explore around two women’s sexuality. That being said, Helen was always a bit of a pill to use an old terminology. She was hard, but we saw her soft points and got to know her. I believe that is the one flaw in this second book in the series. Helen was almost abusive in her language and her actions to be quite frank. She toed the line a little too much to me here. The second thing was, it felt a little bit rushed because the title just didn’t match the plot content. They were anything but anchored. I appreciated the breakup storyline, but I didn’t feel that it was tended to with enough care and grace, which made their reunification difficult because they were many unsolved things. I’m assuming that will lead to a book 3 because I can’t imagine Helen being OK with what Lana got up to during their break up. I enjoyed the book, but there were a few pieces I felt could’ve really been stronger, but more importantly I’m just glad that it’s a series. It definitely deserved series treatment and I definitely love these two characters. Oh, my final thought; the love scenes were not as explosive until the end of the book that last love scene was everything.

When giving reviews for a book, if you could base a review on one of the main characters instead of the flawless writing, I would give it a two for the character of Helen. She's manipulative and controlling, doesn't let Lana live her own life and what she did to stop her from helping other people is pure evil. Lana deserves better than a drunk like Helen. When they were stranded at Helen's parents house and the children were screaming because of the power outage, she grabbed her booze first. As a parent my first thought would be to run to my children. Lana was more of a mother than Helen. I wanted a continuance of the first book but this one wasn't rainbows and unicorns. lol

I had to try and remember the first book because I don’t remember Helen being so ridiculously controlling and borderline abusive. I stand by Lana. I wish there would have been more conversation about how Helen should work on certain behaviors before giving into her again. Lana had every right to have felt betrayed and to request a break up. I enjoyed the Erin and Macy cameo. The first book was better.

Lies and love

Man I really like the stranded series. Book 1 was off the charts and I could really relate with the story. Then in book2 makes you realize that not everyone is lucky to not fight and get mad.
But that love has a way to make things better. Really loved the 2 of your books. Thumbs up
