Spooked By Love

Rate this book
Every now and then in a man’s life, he meets a woman who makes him want to change…

She makes him lower his guard, makes him vulnerable, and makes him believe there’s something more to the life he’s always known.

For Spook? That woman is Erica.
But wanting to change who you are for the person you love is easier said than done.

And the streets are always yearning to teach people that lesson…

Because the streets don’t ever learn to let go, which is a lesson Spook, as well as Danger, are about to learn.

While Spook is fighting to leave the life he’s known and be the man Erica deserves, Danger is fighting to stay out the streets altogether so he can focus on his wife…Lyric.

Meanwhile, the rest of the crew is learning there’s nothing simple about love.

Jah, Strict, and Larissa have their hearts tangled up in a situation where loyalty, desire, and timing don’t lineup…and somebody could lose more than love.

KOLD showed us the meaning of Loving Dangerous in his debut urban romance, and now he’s back to show us the vulnerability of a man Spooked By Love.

Are y’all ready?

Because walking away from the streets is one thing…surviving once you do is something entirely different.

When I say I cackled and enjoyed the banter sooo much. This book had so many different aspects that made me
feel many different emotions & like the characters were really human. It was filled with genuine emotions and love that the characters expressed to one another. Lessons learned & growth achieved for some. The ending leaves me wondering & waiting on what’s next.

One thing about it… KOLD is gonna remind us that leaving the streets is NOT easy at all. I am GAGGED at that ending! I really love how KOLD continues to give us pieces of himself throughout his books because it honestly makes me feel more connected to him as an author every single time. I loved watching all the girls’ journeys unfold, and baby… Erica and Lyric had my mouth hanging OPEN 😭😂 And Larissa? Sis is literally out here living everybody fantasy for real lol. The banter, the goofy relationships, the love underneath all the chaos — I really enjoyed this!

BUT NOW MY REAL QUESTION IS… ARE WE GETTING A BONNIE STORY OR WHAT?! 👀 Because I NEED to know if my girl taking over or nah!

Love in the air!!

Something’s are for a short time and not a long time. When your heart knows what it wants all you can do is listen. Change is good but not always accepted. Sometimes loyalty is strong than anything else. Let’s chat!

First I want to say that the friendship Danger, Spook, Strict & Jah had is like no other. Many cannot say that been rocking & rolling with each as long as these men has. Not only did they start at the bottom together, these men finish together. See Danger is that guy that made sure everyone was eating and called you out is your mess when needed. The respect these men had for each other was top tier.

Spook was very similar to Danger when it came to the woman he loved. At first I didn’t know what to expect with Spook & Erica. The cat & mousse was working the nerves at first but when came together. The childhood trauma that he went through no child should have to experience that. Like how can a mother do what his did. I always say, every woman is not meant to be a mother. Past trauma can definitely hinder the future if not address and nothing Erica did was let Spook know his worth and that his past didn’t define him. Now Erica! My girl was slightly delulu lol. Like how you just take over someone space without communication. Where they do that at. One thing Spook did was communicate and kept it real. With that he expected the same. The other issue I had was, how you want someone to change and you knew what it was from day one. I don’t care for women like that. Don’t get me wrong, change needed to happen so to their situation but to demand an immediate change is diabolical. We all know that change takes time. But when a life threatening situation occurred, Spook realized what he could’ve lost and that changed it all and I loved what that outcome brought them both.

Erica, my girl is slightly confused. Just slightly. How you offer to help ya girl Lyric but take to overboard. Like girl you need to figure it out lol. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t just fault her as the action was welcomed. One thing I enjoyed was the relationships the ladies Erica, Lyric and Larissa had. Again friendships from early age sometime don’t go into adulthood but theirs did. The support these women provided each other was top tier. I love that they were able to always keep it real with each others. So when Erica did what she did regarding her and Spook, the ladies called her out. Her actions cause a lot of the issues. That last one almost cause a pain I wouldn’t wish on anyone but it brought them back together.

Oh can’t for Noami… I just didn’t like her. Like how you come trying to change and dictate your daughter life that you were never apart of. The pop up on Danger and Lyric. Yeah that Karma was needed.

There is so much to discuss about the read. From the secrets, lies, betrayal, grief and love this read was entertaining from beginning to the end. KOLD didn’t disappoint and I look for to reading the next book A Strict Love.

KOLD did it again🔥🔥. Spooked by Love had the perfect mix of romance, humor, chaos, and emotional moments that kept me hooked from beginning to end. The characters felt real, their growth was believable, and the chemistry between everyone made it impossible not to get attached.

The twists caught me off guard, the banter had me laughing, and the ending left me with more questions than answers in the best way. KOLD has a way of making you care about every character, and now I’m already counting down to the next book because I need to know what happens next?!!!

If you enjoy urban romance with real emotion, unforgettable characters, unpredictable twists, and relationships that feel genuine, this series deserves a spot on your TBR. 📚

I thoroughly enjoyed this book! I loved the anticipation leading up to its release, and KOLD definitely did not disappoint. With every chapter, the story became more intense, and each character was thoughtfully developed. I felt completely immersed, as if I was right there experiencing everything alongside them.

It's hard to pick a favorite character because I genuinely loved them all. This was an excellent read, and I cannot wait for the next book in the series. In the meantime, I'm about to dive deep into the pages of the Decauti Mob series, and I'm looking forward to every minute of it

By far my favorite Kold book yet!! One thing about Kold, he knows how to make you feel like you’re watching a movie in your head with his vivid details and storytelling. And I know every character doesn’t need its own book BUT there’s no way he can leave me hanging with Bonnie’s story. I need that ASAP!

After finishing Loving Dangerous a few months ago, I was eager to dive into Spooked by Love, but it hadn't been released yet. So, imagine my excitement when KOLD gifted Tay's Booked Clubhouse Book Club an ARC of Spooked by Love! I immediately jumped back into the world of some of my favorite urban romance characters.

Spook(Reginald)& Erica are preparing to welcome a baby, but their future together is far from simple. Erica wants Spook to leave the streets behind and find a safer way to provide for their growing family. For Spook, however, walking away isn't easy. His need for control is deeply rooted in the trauma he experienced at Timber Ridge, where he was sexually abused by his counselor at just sixteen years old. I appreciated KOLD's decision to address this topic because male sexual abuse is often overlooked. Giving voice to this experience added depth and vulnerability to Spook's character while addressing an issue that deserves more attention.
Meanwhile, Erica finds herself exploring questions about her sexuality through a brief encounter with Lyric. As both characters navigate personal challenges, tragedy strikes when Spook barely survives multiple gunshot wounds. Facing death forces them to reevaluate their priorities and consider what truly matters for their future together.

Danger and Lyric continue building their happily ever after as newlyweds. I applaud Danger for trying to leave the streets behind, but I was shocked that he thought it would be as easy as making a phone call. The streets were pulling Danger every which way but loose. I loved the honesty that Lyric and Danger shared with one another. Their promise not to keep secrets from each other was strengthened when Lyric explained to Danger what had occurred between her and Erica. I’m excited to see what the future has for these two.

Strict, Larissa, and Jah's relationship was complicated. Larissa is torn between the two men while also learning to accept that she is worthy of love. I'm Team Strict because he applied pressure and never let up when it came to pursuing Larissa. I also applaud him for taking the time to process Larissa's uncertainty instead of simply staying and accepting the situation. As for Jah, he seems playful, but he truly adores Larissa. I'm still not convinced he's the one for her, especially since he originally
was checking for Bonni. Either wav. I love how both men showed Larissa love.

And then there's Bonni. Despite having an estranged relationship with her mother, she still loved her deeply. After the airplane explosion left Bonni severely injured and took her mother's life, I found myself hoping she would finally receive the happiness she deserves. I'm especially curious to see what she decides to do with her mother's empire because turning down two million dollars a day would be incredibly hard.

Spooked by Love delivered everything I enjoy in an urban romance: the grit of street life, layered characters, emotional depth, and beautiful love stories. KOLD does an excellent job balancing romance, trauma, healing, sexuality, and personal growth while keeping readers invested in every character's journey. I love how the women were loved properly & their men did not play about them.
I highly recommend Spooked by Love, but make sure to read Loving Dangerous first. The connection between the two stories makes the reading even better.

Thank you again KOLD for everything you poured into Spooked by Love, i’m excited to read the next book A Strict Love.

KOLD has done it again! I ate this book up and enjoyed it just as much, maybe even a little more than Loving Dangerous. SN : The word play on these titles are fire. I also love how he is using bits of his life story when building these characters which make them even more personable and relatable.

I really enjoyed seeing how all the men's soft sides were shown when catering to their women. This story hit on a lot of real life topics from childhood trauma, sex abuse, questioning sexuality, sister hood, brother hood, etc. I was locked in from page 1 until the end when I was left with my mouth sitting open lol ….. Now my thoughts without spoiling the plot.

Spook and Erica- Their relationship showed a great improvement while also going in depth of the trauma that was hunting Spook. When reading about what happened to him and why it was hard to trust someone literally BROKE MY HEART smh - & dont let me start on his mother ughhhh. Erica was pissing me off honestly with trying to bombard into his space all at one time, while knowing how he is… maybe not the WHY but she knew he would get a rise out of him. && her not seeing why her and Lyric scene wasn’t that big of a deal was definitely Sexist because it was okay for her to do it but a BIG ISSUE if roles were reversed. I love that they were able to get past the issue and continue loving on each other.

Lyric and Danger - I love that we were able to see them love on each other and fully experience one another. Lyric said she standing 10 toes behind her man no matter what, even when she doesn't agree. Danger is a full on PROTECTOR and LEADER, he loves his crew hands down.

Bonnie- OMG I was not expecting that to happen to her at all. F her mother for real but she seemed good to them. However, with the news and visit she got my mind got all kinds of thoughts running lol

Larissa/Strick/Jah - I'm very invested in this situation because WHY CHOOSE? Stick is laying the romance down baby and he aint letting up… Jah not backing down though. I love how they are not letting this come between their brotherhood.

5 STARS ACROSS THE BOARD CANT WAIT FOR A STRICT LOVE TO DROP! YOU GAVE ROMANCE, DRAMA, ACTION AND SUSPENSE. GREAT JOB & THANKS FOR ALL THE ROMANCE YOU GIVING US LOL

Beautiful Romance within a Street Lit Setting

In love is a dangerous place for Spook to be, he feels much safer in the streets that have never been duplicit with him. However, Erica has captured his heart and is not coming up off her man, even when they go through some major growing pains as a couple. The fights these two had were stressful but also hilarious and all too real. Erica is going through a lot of change and needs to feel safe and secure. Spook wants to provide that for her but he has to be true to himself, too. The mystery and murderous mayhem taking place all around them is not helping matters between them at all. Good thing neither one of them is a push over. One thing they know how to do is fight for what they want, it just might take them a minute to come around to full transparency on exactly what that is.

This love story took me through there. The surprises and secrets just kept dropping. I was hooked from the prologue. At a little over 30% I was cheesing so hard and laughing out loud. At almost 40% by jaw hit the floor in shock. Around 60% in I was getting PTFO. When I got to about 80% I was seconds from losing control and jumping in the author's inbox, because WTAF! By the end of this book I was just left grinning but also sad as hell that I had reached the end because I was not ready to hurry up and wait for book 3. This series is absolutely SUPERB. Erica and Spook's love story did not let me down. I have been anticipating this story since I finished reading Loving Dangerous. KOLD never expected to be an Urban Romance author but I hope he continues to be past the completion of this trilogy and between new street lit and paranormal releases because these books have been everything a beautiful Romance story should be. The spice and intimacy is there but where these stories really shine and KOLD adds his unique magic is the way these stories will keep you on the edge of your seat, the twists that will blow your mind, the character growth that you get a cinematic front row seat to. I have become a major fan over the past year. I will be reading book 3 the instant it drops because I am fully invested in all of these characters.

I been waiting to continue this series, and Spooked by Love was worth it. KOLD delivered another emotional urban romance filled with love, drama, healing, and real life struggles.
We had Spook and Erica's journey which was my favorite. I appreciated the way KOLD explored Spook's past trauma with his Counselor and how it continued to impact his life and relationship. Danger and Lyric remained a strong expecting couple, proving that honesty can go a long way, even when the streets refuse to let you leave.
Strict, Larissa, and Jah brought plenty of relationship drama. Bonni's storyline also drew me in as she faced losses and obstacles.
Overall, this was a great follow up with engaging characters, emotional depth, and relationships worth rooting for. Finished in one sitting and enjoyed every page. Please read Loving Dangerous to get acquainted with the group and to get the backstories...

Enjoyed but just some small glitches

You have a great series here Kold. Butterah, if you don't do something with Larissa, who do you think you are self, I know you better. She don't deserve either. What she think this is! Erica earned a couple of side eyes after having the nerve to catch attitudes with Spook after not giving him the common courtesy of a conversation about moving in. Then, then had a another attitude when he tossed that Wendy's shirt. Girl, you know what kind of money this man is used to. If he had Wendy's money when you met him, you wouldn't give him the time of day. Get it together. Take notes from Lyric. Bonnie needs love too but I think someone from her mom's camp will be good for her, fingers crossed. The Devil's Demons are still hilarious and deadly but they got thrown off a bit.
Someone has brought up buried secrets that could be devastating to so many, so we gotta keep going. Great read!

Captivating

Kold you did the dang thing with book 2, I can't wait for Strict's book. Every characters' background was given. You told 3 or 4 stories at one time tying every one together. Romance between Danger and Lyric waiting until the honeymoon to be intimate as one just wonderful. I appreciated how Danger wanted to wait and you let your readers see beyond sex. I can see so many books coming because of how you continue to build with Danger's crew and the women, Ducati Mob and the Demons in the storytelling. The graveyard tho - its on for sure to see how that's going to play out. Don't let nobody say Kold isn't a romantic. Every chapter was on point. Thank you for what you bring with the pen. If you compare your books to some of these authors at the top - they ain't got nothing on you. Keep up the great work.

Arc Review Spooked By Love
KOLD has done it again.
Spooked by Love is 5 star read!!!!
The way these men don't play about theirs. But the women DON'T play either. We see growth, vulnerability, love and loyalty all thru the book. It'll having you laughing and tearing up.

We see Erica and Spook grow.
Lyric and Danger Love.
Strict and Jah making moves towards Larissa!!
It's 3 love stories in one and it's an emotional roller coaster. And it includes Kold signature writing Street Lit!!! It's a great time here in Bookland.

• Please read Loving Dangerous first. You can get his books at authorkold.com. Pre-order for paperback available for Spook by Love, e-book available now on his site, or Amazon it drops 5/30.

Thus book was amazing. Definitely brought the grown to this piece of art. Spook had a choice, keep with the streets or let it go and live your life with the woman you live and the child on the way. I definitely was on my toes following his story. Strict and Jah, when it was brought to you that Larissa wanted you both, what will you do? Danger, when it all comes down to it, can you really get out of the streets or will it always find its way back into your life? Spook had trauma that hit close to home. I was so heartbroken when he opened up about it. This story was worth every scroll.

One of the strongest aspects of this novel is the character development. Spook's journey is both inspiring and heartbreaking as he struggles to become the man Erica deserves. His desire to change feels genuine, and KOLD does an excellent job of showing that transformation is never simple. Love may give someone a reason to change, but it doesn't erase the consequences of the life they've lived. Watching Spook fight for a future beyond the streets while facing obstacles from his past made his story incredibly compelling.

If you’ve read anything by Kold you know he doesn’t miss at all. Spooked by love is a beautiful story about choices and taking chances. Spook is a man who’s been in the streets his whole life and the thought of something different is scary. Kold brings humor, real life situations in this book that will keep you intrigued.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I can’t wait for the next book in the series A Strict Love. Overall definitely a 5 star read and highly recommend

Spook and Erica's relationship is the heart of the story, and watching Spook struggle to become a better man for the woman he loves adds depth and vulnerability to his character. Danger and Lyric's journey is equally compelling, while the complicated dynamics between Jah, Strict, and Larissa keep the tension high throughout the book.

Action packed, gritty, spicy, and engaging. If you thought Loving Dangerous was good, KOLD definitely turned it up a few notches with Spooked By Love!!!

It's rare to find an author where everything you read is an automatic banger.

Although the main focus of the story is Erica and Spook, you also get an update on how things are going with the newlyweds as well as watching the gang figure out how to adjust to major changes that are happening.

New dangers are popping up left to right, and serious decisions have to made. While some of the beloved characters are embracing their new beginnings, while others are skeptical and worried about their futures.

Will everyone get their HEA? Or will one decision put everyone's livelihood in jeopardy???

If you're looking for your next favorite author, then look no further because KOLD definitely is up for the job. If you like a good and hood romance, with the occasional shoot out and a whole lot of illegal activities, dive into this series expeditiously.

He literally has something for everyone. Yes your blood pressure will continuously be elevated, and yes you better not get too attached to any characters lol.

A time will be had, and you'll enjoy every minute of it.
