Promotes the pastoral fantasy of a family farm where the calves "snooze in grassy areas called pastures".

A delightful presentation of cows, what they are, how they live, and the role they place in the food chain. This addition to the "Pebble Plus" series of books features full page photographs which grab the reader from the start. Each double page spread provides one of these photos as well as text about cows and their lives. The book concludes with a glossary, read more (print and web), and an index. There is also a word count, grade information and early-intervention level isted, which will make this book useful for core curriculum needs. Most important related to the core curriculum is the note, on the verso of the title page, to parents and teachers indicating that the book "supports national science standard related to life science" standards, and the "repetition of words and phrases" and "introduction of subject-specific vocabulary words."

This is a very nice Science book (without being so Science that it's boring) with very simple but true text and great photos. Talks about true live cows and what they are like, look like, eat, live, etc. Perfect for that child who doesn't live on a farm or for those little guys that need an early education on them. GREAT BOOK,
