Our Mother ‘Aisha: 40 Hadith Collection

Rate this book
This book is a compilation of 40 sayings narrated by ‘Aisha, may God be pleased with her, from the Prophet Muhammad, peace to him. The narration of prophetic speech is among one of the most important tasks in Islam. Without the narration of prophetic speech each generation would be more and more confused as to what it means to live an ethical and moral life in accordance with the pleasure of God. ‘Aisha is one of the great hadith narrators who keep the speech of the prophet alive by memorizing his words during his lifetime and teaching them to others after his death. The collection of 40 hadith in particular has been given a unique merit by our prophet, peace to him, and anyone who can should do so, even if just for themselves.

Jazakallah khair to Nurriddeen Knight for the book. I won this book as a Goodreads First Reads giveaway winner alhamdulillah.

So, the perspective I am giving is that of a Muslim, a convert to Islam for 6 years alhamdulilah. I own 3 collections of Ahadiths. Ths one, one of the Sahabah and one written by Thomas Cleary. I do not yet own a full collection of the Ahadiths but I am working on it. This collection I feel is a great read for a new Muslim, a lifetime Muslim or a Non-Muslim. There is a great explanation as to WHO Aisha (may allah swt be pleased with her) is. There is much speculation and opinions, but this author just tells you the truth of her life with no bias. She is indeed the 'mother of believers'.

I also like the fact that she points out how our holy site, Makkah, is in a country which needs guidance. May allah swt guide Saudi Arabia to the right path and stop these injustices towards women for it is not the way which Rasool Allah (saws) would have wanted it, ameen ya rabbil.

It is indeed a reward to to collect 40 Ahadiths and it is also a reward to read them and reflect upon their words.

Nice collection of hadith. No commentary.
Alhamdulillah we need more books like this!
Would love to see more collections of other companions, esp. female companions to raise more awareness of female scholarship in Islam.
Would also love if there was commentary.
May Allah reward the author for her efforts, and allow her to write more books! Ameen.

Short. Concise. Good read. I wish the introduction and biography on Aisha was longer but I really did enjoy the book

A beautiful book. There were some details that I wasn't aware of previously about some ahadith, Aisha (ra), the Prophet (saw), and their relationship that I learned about in these pages. I feel so much more connected and grateful to Aisha, and reading this has inspired me to seek out more knowledge about her life and the impact she has had on Islam. I also really enjoyed the preface and introduction that Nuriddeen Knight wrote before delving into the ahadith.
