When I received a message from Rhonda Bowen asking me if I would read her book and that she would gift it to me I was skeptical because I had not heard of her, but I agreed. Well hush my mouth. This book was absolutely refreshing, heart breaking , and heart warming. I loved how the story started. I loved how the main characters messed. I loved how Rhonda kept the flow of the story moving without missing a beat. In chapter twenty, my heart sank. From there I felt like parts of the story was part of my story. I was also put in thought about the idea of creating a life worth living even though the past. Slammed me right into business mode. I have a new author to run behind. Thank you Rhonda for the gift, You go girl.
Under Covers was a phenomenal read from beginning to end. The emotions that Naomi made me feel throughout this story made me feel that I was in the story with her and sharing her pain. This story keep me on the edge of my seat .
Jordan was an awesome man he proved what the try meaning of love despite all the flaws a person has...
This was a very good book, it captures you from the beginning to the end, I could not put it down. I loved the way Jordan loves Naomi even though she has flaws. I loved the lessons learned in this book, forgiveness and unconditional love. I look forward to more books by Rhonda Bowen
Jordan and Naomi's love story is one of the sweetest I've read in a while. Secrets tore their fairy-tale down but unconditional love put it all back together. Although it took a while, they learnt that love does covet a multitude of sins. This is my first book by Rhonda but it would not be my last.
This book was an easy read. I finished quickly but I was missing character development and back stories. Everything happened fairly quickly and I’m still not sure how or why after finishing the book. The whole trip surrounding Camille was disjointed and rushed. Naomi and Jordan’s relationship had no rationale behind it, it was just there throughout the book. It kept me going to find out what would happen between them or see if I could get more details. The same went for Garth. He just pops up and out of the storyline. We’re given a few details regarding their relationship and then he’s gone. We have no details about her brother or what happened with him and he family. We have no real information regarding Naomi and Natasha’s friendship or Jordan and his sister Amanda. Characters are just continuously introduced without any details or development but I guess that’s part of what made it a fast and easy read. I gave it 4 stars because regardless of it just touching on characters and topics without going into depth, I finished the book.
This book was a very good read. The lesson learned is that when you keep secrets of what has happened to you in your past relationship especially from the ones who love you. It can get very complicated in your next relationship and cause unnecessary hurt and repercussions. I like how the author showed the loving relationship between Jordan and Naomi. How Jordan was a godly man and always praying. Naomi held back because of her past and kept it from Jordan. You could feel the emotions of love caring , sadness, and happiness of the characters. I recommend this book to read and look forward to reading more by this author. Cassandra H.
I really loved this story about a successful black woman that had been through a lot. She was vulnerable and courageous. She was family oriented and had good friends that was there to support her too. Loved the happy ending. Loved the Christian based thread woven throughout the story. This story had so many important qualities that kept me reading to the end all in one day.
What I liked about this book was the abuse awareness. I think the author did a great job with a love story dealing with abuse and the shame that will cause secrets and living in the past. I liked how the author used the story to show how a person should forgive themselves and talk about it to be free. The book also dealt with unconditional love.
I would suggest a person dealing with abuse to read this and realize they are not alone.
I loved this book just as I have the other books I've read by this author. There are authors whom you automatically know are going to deliver each and every time and Rhonda Bowen is on my list. Jordan and Naomi's story speaks of the shame and fear from the past and the love that can ultimately overcome it all if we can receive it. It is an absolutely beautiful love story.
This is an amazing book that touches home in so many different ways.
Rhonda really put it all together especially with involving God in everything we do, having faith, the power of prayer, and having people around us that have common core values rooted in God. I really enjoyed this book.
Great story of forgiveness, redemption, friendship a little drama, and love Naomi found her peace after facing her fears Jordan was her anchor and ultimately her peace This was the first time reading this author, but her storytelling gift is on point and I can't wait to read Book 2 in the series Great job
There is no cursing, or illicit sex with the star people in the book. It shows how women can rise above abuse and make something of themselves. It takes honesty and openness but it is possible.
This book will surround you in emotions as you get deeper into the story. Complicating life by secrets comes into play and speaks of love through it all. It gives you a better understanding of their lives Just like many others do every day in real life.
It is hard to put down and an excellent book for someone struggling with issues of your past. It surely show how God can make things alright a show dudes others to help you.
