Want, need, pain, and joy were emotions Shade had never known existed before Lily. He knew the first time he saw her face that she was going to change his life forever. The thing he hadn’t expected was how hard it would be to hide who and what he was from her. Each step he took out of the shadows revealed more of himself, until only one secret remained. Shade arrogantly believed he could help heal the wounds from her past, but now it was his own past that was trying to tear them apart. To keep Lily, Shade would have to use the very skills he had been trying to hide from her. The skills that made him a killer … a soulless monster.

Omfgkkdkemfjeodm!!! I'm about to effing die!
Holly shades! I totally did not expect to get another SHADE book!!!

Edited:

Okay.. I'm pissed! But let me start this by saying- Shade and Lily's love story is EPIC!. I have no other word to describe it. Basically in this book is a re-run (to put it in words) of the previous Last Rider Series but in SHADE's perspective. I'm not a fan of re-reading events from different pov's but I just couldn't skip this one and glad I didn't! Gotta say, SHADE put all the MC heroes into dust!

This is the only MC book that I had deep connection with.. and thats saying alot as I've read so many MC books in my reading life time! (lol!)

The book is pretty long as it re-tells some stories from Razer, Viper, Knox, Cash and some of the Biker bitches etc. but even though I've read them all- it still quite different to read in SHADE's pov. It also answered all my questions and doubts I had before.

Also, wow. I didn't even realized until now how SHADE was such a big manwhore. I know he fucked all the girls in the club but in this book, it shows how he was with other women.. it was seeing an old SHADE and a whole new SHADE here.

Okay, I'm going to prettified this later on, but can I just rant for a little bit? That epilogue 3...

description

Yeah... I could have live without that epilogue 3! FML!!

Anyways.. sigh.. I'm sorry, I'm just emotionally drained at the moment. I cried like a fuckin baby.. rehearsing that moment over and over again is not what I plan to do for the rest of the week! Maybe I'm over reacting.. I tend to do that when I'm so deep shit with a book. Don't get me wrong, this is a MUST read. I just feel shitty right now I can't even think straight!!

5+++ STARS!

I HATE SHADE - degenerative arsehole who screws anything in a skirt for years while stalking the ever stupid Lily!

Embarrassed by Lily - weak pathetic twat who hangs out with all the women her husband screwed while she was in the picture.

Oh and this is Shade "missing" Lily/Pining for her:

"Shade nudged his cock slowly into her greedy cunt, feeling her silky flesh glide over his hard dick. He loved the feeling of first entering a tight pussy, gradually loosening it until they could take the force of his thrusts...Shade easily read the heightened desire in Bliss’s expression when she slowed her pace as she walked toward the door. Bliss enjoyed their games as much as he did".

and there's always more:

"“The only place I want that mouth is on my dick...Raise your skirt so I can see your ass,” Shade ordered...Bitch, this is going to be one vote you’ll never forget.”

Yeah he's really miserable "pretending" the other women are Lily, not only is he a degenerate pig, he is also a liar and lies to Lily. He was most certainly NOT thinking of her when he was screwing Bliss and loving it!!!! I enjoy a love story, this is NOT one.

And yet the selfish asshole won't allow Lily to have any simple fun even dancing:

"Shade didn’t want to see her dance with anyone except him. He knew he was being a selfish bastard, but he had agreed to give Lily time to graduate college. Of course, that didn’t mean he had to stand back and watch her have fun with another man"

This from the man who is in f@cking orgies with women and men on a daily basis.

Author please enlighten if he is so into Lily and expects her to be pristine, why does he WANT to screw around with so many other women???? He obviously is having a great ole time with these women as shown in the book.

Also, Shade knew how much pain Lily would feel when she found out he was one of the four on Bliss's tattoo, knowing he screwed Bliss. He KNEW this would seriously hurt her down the line and yet even knowing all this he STILL screwed Bliss, he was already planning his future with Lily and knew how she'd feel about it so please someone explain to me WHY did he screw Bliss?

I didn't realise that planning to have a future with a woman and "waiting" for her meant that you HAD TO participate in PROLIFIC orgies with countless other women - Shade deserved to LOSE Lily. He did not earn her IN ANY WAY. He bullied and forced her into being with him. He controlled her like a puppet.

Honestly I want to punch his lights out, I cannot stand him!

By Comparison: SHADE'S PRINCE EFFIN' CHARMING
Jamie Begley's Shade (Last Riders 06); 3 By Comparison Stars

description

In matters of the heart, Shade out-thought, out-plotted, and out-pursued the other Last Riders. He didn't fall in love easily, but when he did, Lily owned him heart and soul. Though surrounded by a bevy of readily available & accommodating women, none could satisfy his hunger for Lily, so he pursued her with a single-minded determination that bordered on obsession. Once she was his, he annihilated ANYTHING or ANYONE who hurt her or tried to take her away. Best of all, he never wanted to hurt Lily himself, so he tried to shelter her from the club lifestyle & would have given it up all together if she needed him to.

Is Shade perfect? No. Far from it. He's controlling, manipulative, slutty, secretive & violent.

But, where the other LRs are immature & afraid to be alone; Shade readily accepts adult responsibility & is used to being by himself.

"Shade lay on his stomach in a ventilator shaft, two hundred and fifty meters away from the building his target was in. He'd lain there for the last two days, watching as the police swept the parking lot that morning, placing barriers so no one could get through. He hadn’t eaten and had drunk sparingly."
~Shade. Kindle p.987

While the other LRs are impatient, self-indulgent, & satisfied living in the ID; Shade understands the value of delayed gratification and longs for something meaningful & long lasting, realizing that anything worth keeping, is worth waiting for & working for.

'Rider laughed, shaking his head. "I’ll never understand you, Shade. You have every woman in town wanting to fuck you, and most of the women in the clubhouse would rather be in your bed than anyone else’s. But you’re working a job you fucking hate just to even be near her. I wouldn’t put that much effort into buying a bike, much less a woman,' Rider bragged.

"That’s why your bike is broken down all the time." Shade told him.'
~Shade. Kindle p. 444

More importantly, the other LRs not only lack self-awareness but are completely oblivious to the thoughts & feelings of others, especially the women they're emotionally attracted to. Shade, on the other hand, is not only introspective but self-analytical & self-accepting.

'“I’ll never regret marrying Lily. It was the best moment of my life. If it lasts fifty years, it won’t be enough time with her." Shade was aware he was opening himself to the brother, but he was also aware of the load he was carrying. “It’s like cutting your soul in half. You can either give it up voluntarily or fight it all the way.”

“Which was Cash?” Train said, nodding toward the happy couple kissing to the cheers of the church congregation.

“He fought it long and hard.”

“How about you?” Amusement filled Train’s face.

“Me?” Shade slapped Train on the back, pushing him forward to congratulate the newly married couple. “Hell, I was easy. I gave it up without her having to ask for it.”'
~Shade. Kindle p. 1187

So, if you ask me why I gave Shade 3 STARS, while her other Last Riders books got 2 STARS or less, it's because: Compared to the other Last Riders, Shade's Prince Fucking Charming!

And if Jamie can't stop reproducing the same hero over and over again in each book she writes, I just wish she'd do it with Shade.

description

Now, I warn you in advance, I'm going to end this review with a brief rant:

When Bliss raged at a very pregnant, clearly distressed Lily as she attempted to leave Shade for his own protection, I wish Shade would have FINALLY banished her from the club for good.

The Lily/Knox/Diamond foursome was odd & uncharacteristic; allowing Raci to wear his jacket was weak & disappointing; but his silence while a bitchy, self-serving, jealous, slutty Bliss spewed hate all over his upset, 9 month pregnant wife, made Shade look like a TOTAL :

description

It’s WAY past time THAT bitch Bliss was given a final smack-down!

But it looks like we're going to have send *Sadie to Treepoint, KY. SHE'S the only person with the BALLS to do it! She DAMN SURE wouldn't have stood silently by & let Bliss go psycho on Lily! Bliss would have had her mouth stuffed with her own hair extensions until she coughed them up like an alley cat with a hairball, then pimp-slapped with Sadie's stripper heels all the way to the state line!

description

Phew! Now that I've gotten THAT off my chest, I'm done!

Y'all take care now, ya hear!

Shade is still the only LR main lead that I actually like. His devotion to Lily was true and real after they got together but did we really need all those sex scenes with ow???
This would have been perfect if I didn't keep having visuals of Shade with all the ow I really wish authors would stop adding stuff like that, all it does is take away the beauty that should have been Shade's and Lily's relationship!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.

You know those stories you wanted to love, couldn’t wait to read? Well, this is that story for me.

I have been a fan of The Last Riders Series since I first met Beth and Rizer. Since then I have followed the series anxiously awaiting each book. However, one story in particular I was dying to read: Lily and Shade. When I finally got to read their story I was disappointed that we didn’t get more of Shade’s POV. So when I heard about this book I was dying to jump in.

Then I open the book to see it is super looooonnng. I can do long books, especially on a story I love. However, so much of this story is repeated from another POV. I was under the impression we would see Lily and Shade’s story from his POV, not the entire series. There is some new story and extended epilogues, but even those were hard to read.

So as I was deciding on how to review/rate this book I was torn. If you are a super fan of the series, then I am sure you will love this. If you are new to the series, you definitely can’t read this one without reading the others.

Then you have were I am at, I have been a fan from the beginning. I have enjoyed the series, it is motorcycle club meets sex club, but as the story unfolds you get lots of depth, heart, and suspense. I am just not sure this book was for me. I didn’t enjoy the repeated scenes and the extended epilogue went a little too far for this girl.

However, I did love getting to see more Lily and Shade. Their story has always been a favorite. I have loved Shade and how he waited for her to be ready for him. I love how Lily wants to be whole and complete for Shade. That part of this story was a definite 5 star read for me.

In the end, I think a lot of series fans will love this one, in my case I was expecting one thing and got a whole lot more. Unfortunately it was a little too much more. Do I recommend? I think if you are a fan of the series most will love, but going in just understand what you are signing up for.

UPDATE: Reread 07 February 2021
---------------------------

Rereading the author's books in the order indicated by her while I wait for Gavin's third book.

The story told from Shade's point of view. We learned about details of events from another angle.
The epilogue leaves us with a mess of tears and sobs. Leave the tissues close to you.

UPDATE: JULY 2017
===================

I really liked reading but I confess that I still hate the bitches (whores) at the Club.
They are disgusting! And to me they're still not moving from mere holes for men to satisfy their needs.
I loved Shade and his behavior after his involvement with Lily was wonderful.
He continues to be my favorite character.
The writer surprised me and I'm going to continue reading this author.
And to top it off I keep hating Bliss. Just saying...
Recommend and I'm looking forward to the history of other characters.
----------
UPDATE: JULY 2017

==>FUCK FEST!<==

"Sam licked her bottom lip as she watched him take his cock in his hand, sliding it up and down his shaft."
"Shade showered, letting Bliss run her soap-covered hands over his body, washing the scent of sex off. Then she kneeled at his feet and sucked him off;"
"Shade studied Jewell’s black hair as he drank his whiskey. “Take off your top.”
“Don’t bother.” Shade took the clothes away from her. “Go take a shower, grab Bliss, and then meet me downstairs in my room.” “Okay.” Her face lit up again
"Evie and Bliss more than made up for what Beth wasn’t putting out. Train, Sam, and Knox decided to join in, too.”
"He had been up all night fucking."
“Spread your thighs wider. If you’re going to play with yourself, do it right.” Bliss followed his commands, showing Shade a view of her glistening pussy.

==>MY HEROINE!!!!!<==

"Sex Piston grabbed Natasha by the hair and slammed her face on the table."

==>MORE FUCK FEST!

"Shade’s hand went to Jewell’s ass. “Make it two. You know I like to take my time.”
“Want to dance?” Shade stiffened as Bliss’s arms slid around his waist, sliding her hands to sit intimately against the zipper of his jeans."
“You in the mood for some company?” Joy came strutting in the room.
“Bitch, this is going to be one vote you’ll never forget.”
"Shade closed his bedroom door following Raci and Jewell down the hallway and up the steps to the kitchen."
“Come here, Bliss.” Shade picked up his cards as Bliss approached, her tiny black skirt around her waist.
"He ripped open the condom before sliding it on his hard length. When he was finished, his arm went around Bliss, bringing her closer."

==>BLISS THE WALKING VAGINA!<==

“Make a play for Razer, Knox, or Viper again, and you’ll never have my dick again, understand me?” Bliss nodded, fear in her eyes.

==>SISTER APPROVES!<==
“You going to ask me to wait some more?” Beth shook her head. “Why would I do that? I’ve been praying for you since she was a little girl. What’s taken you so long?”

==>SHE IS STRONGER THAN WE THINK.<==
"Lily, for all her appearance of virtue, had never known innocence."

==>WOW!<==
"I promise, I’m going to make all your dreams come true, even if you don’t want me to be a part of them.”

==>BITCH! I HATE BLISS!<==
“I’m sorry. I thought she was gone,” Bliss apologized as she moved toward them. “No, you didn’t. Her car is still outside.”
"The sex they enjoyed didn’t equal a relationship, and the sexual relationship they had shared was over.
"“I told you I don’t want to fuck you anymore, and do you really think, after all the time you’ve known me, I’ll change my mind?”
"Bliss was like a rapacious puppy which couldn’t understand why her master didn’t want to play."
"Bliss was walking a fine line with him."

==>WOW!<==
"had been four months since he had fucked a woman; as a result, he couldn’t watch them then workout with Lily without making his hard-on noticeable. He was an expert at controlling his body"

==>BITCH! I HATE BLISS!<==
"Shade turned to Bliss. “Next time you act like that in front of her, I’ll drag your ass out of the club and throw your clothes out in the yard.” Bliss gasped. “You’re not serious?” “Try me, Bliss,” Shade snarled."
“Lily would never intentionally hurt another soul—she’s incapable of it—while you didn’t give a fuck who you were hurting with your behavior.” Shade stood up, picking up his dirty dishes. “Now ask me why I care about her and not you,” he said sarcastically, leaving the table to take his dishes to the sink.
“Bliss doesn’t try to hide that you both have shared a relationship. She doesn’t want me here. She belongs here; I don’t.”
“When are you going to tell Lily you’re building the house for her?” Bliss asked, and Shade could see the hurt in her face.
“You want me to take care of that for you?” Bliss asked, nodding at the bulge in his jeans. “No.”
"Bliss nodded, her eyes on Shade. “Unless you want us to stay? Lily left.” “No, thanks."

I am crying... I just finished this book and I am crying the ending was beautifully done, think of the movie The Notebook that's how beautiful it was, I'm not sure I liked it though I don't want to be crying when I finish a book. This book was spectacular it starts at the very beginning and goes to the very last moment, it tells us about Shade and Lily from the first sight and it shows us those things that we never got to see in all the other books not just between Shade and Lily but between all of them. I usually don't like books that are the same story just from a different perspective but I read the whole think in about 5 and a half hours without skipping anything because it was that good. I loved seeing how Slade perceived things that happened through all of the books in this series and those connected to it even though we saw his perspective in Shade's Fall there is a whole lot that we didn't get to see as well. I loved that in this story we saw the progression of other relationships, I saw in some comments made about worries other readers had about this story before this book was released and I have to say that anyone with worries you have none this story was amazing and what anyone would want for Lily and Shade. Also the epilouges were amazing and I loved that Jamie Begley gave us an absolute ending on what was often brought up by Shade to Lily through out this book. So for any fans of Jamie Begley's books (like me) I think you will be blown away and if you haven't read book of hers start at the beginning with Razer's Ride because you will love it! In ending I just have to repeat myself and say this was a beautiful book for a beautiful story and an even more beautiful ending!

Spoilers on OW (which is why I won’t read it)
.

Too many ow descriptive sex scenes. Like. A lot of them. How tight they are. How their mouths feels. Blah blah blah. Orgies. More smex with lots of OW. Etc etc. Meanwhile, he knows the h is his one true love 🙄. Yup. I can see why 🙄 feeling how tight another woman is or delicious her mouth is shows how much you want the h and you’re meant to be together 🙈🤢. Ugh. Give me a break. He even mentions that if the h dies, he’ll get back with a previous f buddy. So romantic 😑.

And don’t get me started on the epilogue lol. Ridiculous. True HEA? Not in this book

Re-read
Bumped a star.

Shade is a fascinating and heartbreaking peek into the mind of a besotted psychopath, and in my re-read I fell for his and Lily's romance even more than the first time as that was what drew me back.

Under most circumstances I would hate this book with a millions negative stars, but Begley does that rare thing an author can do: either redeem a horrible character or unveil the layers that show why his actions are comprehensible. Shade is what most would consider is a horrible person: a killer, possibly probably a psychopath, unfeeling, manipulative etc. He knows it, but could give a fuck as all he wants to do is love Lily.

Poignant, sad, funny, sexy, gross and heartbreaking, I loved the book as it has an epic romance with a mesmerizing hero and a finale that Shakespeare would envy.

The Epilogue was overwhelming.

Jiminy Christmas.

This is another tough one. I read this shortly after I read Shade's Fall, and this is like the Cliff Notes for the series as it shows Shade's interaction and connection to other story lines. When I read Shade's Fall, I complained that this was a relatively boring MC club as much of the action centered at the factory. Um, I was wrong. There is plenty gof bad behavior in this one.

The real story is about Shade and his head over heels obsession with Lily and the long, very long saga of him wooing or grooming her to be his. It's romantic, compelling and slightly creepy to read his thoughts on how he is going to manipulate make her fall in love with him. He's an incredibly shut down man and has been from a child. Nope, he acknowledges his parents did everything they could to open him up, the emotions just weren't there. It wasn't until he saw Lily that he ever felt alive.

If cheating is an issue, then STAY AWAY as the man sleeps with anything that moves. Lily was underage when he first saw her, and he pledged to stay away until he felt she was old enough. Unlike most manwhores we read, he does everything he can so she won't find out.

I can't say I enjoyed it as much as I appreciated Jamie Begley's writing talent in exposing the thoughts and emotions of the most interesting and compelling character in this series.

It will also rip your heart and stamp on it, so if bittersweet is another trigger, then just don't!

Warning: This book contains scenes of ménage, bondage and very hot and steamy sex...so if any of this are not your thing then pick up this book at your own risk!

That being said...this boookkkkkk was sooooooooo loooooonnnnngggg...

It has 99 chapters (including the epilogs) and around 1000 pages. I think it's probably the longest romance book I have ever read.

description

But it was totally worth it because I love the Last Rider boys and, because I'm such a biker bitch, I just can't get enough of them. So of course I loved loved loved Shade's story :D

description

To get the full impact of this book you have to start with the beginning and read all the books in The Last Riders series .

Why?

Because this book contains the stories from all the novels in this series but they are told from Shade's point of view. On top of that we get to see how Shade and Lily's story ends after being married for 50 years.

description

There isn't much more to say except the fact that if you're addicted to MC novels (like yours truly :P) then you have to read this series because it's one of the best MC series that I have ever read.

And Jamie Begley...Please don't make us wait to long for Lucky's story...Please!!!!!!!!

If you didn't already love Shade...you will truly fall for him HARD after reading SHADE!

There is a side of him that we never got to see, and I don't just mean the crazy sex God... cause some of those scenes are CRAZYYYYYYY (OMG), but he is just a great guy who watches out for the members (just wanting them to be happy), and he is quite sneaky about it...Gotta love his manipulative ways.

Jamie did an incredible job at showing us the behind the scenes that we always wondered about, but never got to see! Even fans who have read the series over and over will be sucked in to the fun that is uncovered, and the huge heart that Shade is hiding in that tattooed chest. My heart broke for him over and over again, as he fights his feelings for Lily...I know some of the scenes will have fans shedding tears..so bring on the tissues ladies!

Even though only the last third of the book is "new", the whole book feels like reading a "New" Last Rider Romance...almost like being a fly on the wall...just wait...the mouths will be hanging open like WHATTT?!? Did that just happen?

Jamie...another beyond fabulous release...and I am honored that I was able to get an early sneak peak...Now you just have to write that stinkin Lucky so I can have my Train and Killyama romance!!

Warning: If you have NOT read the complete Last Riders Series, I suggest you read the series in order BEFORE you read SHADE. You will be missing out on all the fun!

Oh my gosh! I swear if shade cheat's I will cry.
And if it's with bliss, I might have to slap a bitch. Not that I hate her but who forms friendships with the men's women but if given a chance would still have sex with their men. She's sly and I don't like that. Her and her oasis vagina can bugger off

In my review for Shade’s Fall, I mentioned that Shade and Lily’s story was not the epic love story I thought it was going to be and after reading Shade, I still feel the same way. I wanted to love this story but Good Golly Miss Molly, I could not. Her Mary-Sue and his Marty Stus character just got on my nerves. The book was too darn long and mostly a re-hash of books 1-5 from Shade’s POV. Cutesy epilogues but not worth reading a long drawn out story to get to it. Meh and double Meh! I’m giving it a 3 because and only because it had my favorite character, Viper, it in :->.

Why oh why do I keep getting tricked by tags and accidentally reading books from this train wreck of a series? I saw this book listed with the tag of an obsessive hero in love and a sweet virgin heroine, and was like, "that sounds great!" Oh lord have mercy on my soul.

In this book, it focuses on a member of the manwhores anonymous sex club Last Riders motorcycle club, Shade. I thought based on the tags that Shade was so in love and possessive over Lily, there wouldn't be cheating after he knew he loved her.

Of course not. This piece of doo doo is the same as all the rest of the members of this mc. There are sooo many in depth scenes of him doing it with tons of OW, including orgies. He's constantly having boatloads of kinky S&M sex with club women and always thinking about how much he loves it. I honestly don't know how the club members have energy to do anything with how they're just screwing around all day.

Okay, so basically this is the long ass story about an insufferable manwhore named Shade, who is ex military and now a part of some mc that functions more like a sex cult. Shade is incapable of feeling love or emotions towards others, and is basically a psychopath. Until he meets Lily. Seeing her repressed, traumatized reaction at the lake when he and his fellow mc hoes try to hang out with her and her sister has him reaching an epiphany that this is his future wife. His world is completely blown as he feels love and emotions for the first time. Shade basically fell in love with Lily at first sight and knew she was "the one"... but because she was underage and he had to wait one year, he decided it makes perfect sense to just screw a bunch of OW all day. Because he will die if he doesn't get his pp off with kinky sex and orgies. This was basically me through the entire book of Shade's sexcapades while he keeps professing how much he "loves" Lily:

Shade is a possessive, hypocritical creep that does everything to isolate Lily behind the scenes and prevent her from ever even touching another man. Which I'm fine with in dark romance, but Shade was such a disgusting piece of trash, I was actually rooting for Lily to go find anyone else that isn't part of this God forsaken sex cult mc.

I actually felt pretty bad for Lily. I know that a lot of reviews say she's TSTL, but honestly... she was a broken and heavily abused girl, emotionally stunted and with no good guidance or influence. Up until where I was reading, which is over 50%, I thought she was handling her situation a lot better than how a lot of the other heroines from this series were handling it. She held out against Shade a lot longer than the others, and was actually trying really hard to be assertive when things were pushing what was acceptable. Her main downfall was that none of the pieces of shit that were supposed to help PROTECT her and guide her came through and helped back her up when she said "NO" to Shade. Her sister Beth just let Shade start grooming her and pushing her, and even had the audacity to see Shade sneakily hold Lily in her sleep and start crying, being like, "Oh thank God this much older manwhore creep predator wants my sister, I'm so happy for her." REALLY, woman.

Winter was even worse - she's the high school principal of Lily, and should be much older and more experienced to see that Shade is toxic af, and is preying on Lily. But she didn't do jack shit. No one protected this poor girl!

For a huge portion of this story, Lily wasn't even remotely interested in Shade. At all. Numerous times of her trying to just be friends with him, trying to matchmake him with other women, and telling him to BACK OFF. And I respected that - who the hell would want to be with a guy you know is a giant walking STD who has orgies all day?

I appreciated that Lily walked in on him participating and had the presence of mind to say, "That's a no for me dawg. To the friend zone with you." Shade, on the other hand, was a complete psycho predator creep. This is the guy they tell you about with the #metoo movements. HE DID NOT LISTEN WHEN LILY TOLD HIM NO. It was honestly disturbing. And it's one thing if this book was marketed as a dark disturbing villain romance, where it's acknowledged how toxic this is (because Lord knows how much I love those 💀). But instead it's played off like Shade is "breaking down Lily's walls" and saving her from her own sexual repression. Because not being ok with a man that has orgies all day is being "sexually repressed." 🙄 It was honestly depressing that there wasn't a single actual nice man in this book, and even Charles, the OM that was pursuing Lily, had to be revealed that he had an illegitimate kid with some one night stand. I laughed when Shade acted holier-than-thou lecturing Charles about how if he actually loved Lily, he would've taken 5 seconds to wrap it up while cheating on her. LIKE YOU CAN TALK, MR. ORGY-EVERY-DAY. Jesus.

Only parts I enjoyed were watching Lily friendzone Shade's manwhore ass, and him sulking and getting butthurt over how she doesn't care and isn't jealous at all over him. And even that was tainted with the knowledge that she would eventually give in and just accept her lot in life.

Safety (LMAO):
* Heroine not actually a virgin, despite everyone indicating it. Was molested and raped when she was young, and repressed her memories.
* Hero is a manwhore, definitely NOT a virgin.
* Cheating, at least to me. Hero already knows he wants to marry the heroine, but decides to squeeze in as many orgies as he possibly can before he's tied down. Hero enjoys them a LOT.
* Some OM drama in that the heroine goes on casual dates with an OM (who of course must also be trash), but they don't go further than chaste kisses.
* TONS OF OW DRAMA. The hero has orgies and constantly sleeps with OW because he can't get his rocks off with the underage heroine. MC women are constantly coming on to him and sleeping with him, and one (Bliss) is in love with him and tries to "make trouble" for him.
* HEA with children and epilogue.

Perfect example. There was never an intention for this book. But fan after fan requested more Shade. Of course Shade is badass.
So we get passed this...

try to pass this off as original. This is books 1-5 condensed. There's nothing new to learn. To all the people saying this is sooo great, I learned so much, my question would be did you read the fucking series and pay attention at all?!?!?
 photo tumblr_my8fy4Siho1t9b3jro1_500.gif
But this is bullshit. This was definitely on my top 3 anticipated books of the year list. And at this time I CAN NOT FINISH THIS!!!! So again....
 photo tumblr_mj743cJyd31rfpp1do1_500.gif
This book is well over 800 pages. If I can't learn anything more than a rival MC has numerous extra bodies laying around, duh cause that's not real news, in the first 100 pages, WTF IS THE POINT?!?!?
I've heard there is new material towards the very end, so if someone could pinpoint that for me I'd love to finish this. But I don't have the time to search out little tidbits of goodness, not even for Shade.
Again, I am heart broken over this. Truly.

I only read half of it but i end the book because it was too much WRONG THINGS THAT MADE ME WANT TO SERIOUSLY VOMIT! EEEWWWW.... I DON'T LIKE THIS BOOK AT ALL. THE HERO IS DEFINITELY POSSESSIVE. BUT HE ALWAYS F*CKS ANOTHER WOMAN WHEN IN HIS MIND HE KNOWS THAT THE HEROINE IS THE ONE FOR HIM! LIKE TRUE LOVE. But seriously why you even do what you do when you know you love the girl?

I CAN'T stand hero like this. Nope.

I want a hero that immediately stops f*cking around and chase for the heroine. Not the other way around... and on this hero he not only did it two times three times but MANY TIMES LIKE WTF. NOOOO.

IN THE END WHEN BOTH ARE ALREADY MARRIED AND THE HEROINE HAVE A ACCIDENT, the hero thought she was going to die so HE TOLD EVERYONE THAT IF THE HEROINE DIES... HE WANTS TO MARRY HIS OLD S*X BUDDY.

WHAT A DISGUSTING BOOK!

BYE.

In the end it was perfect.

I'm changing my rating for this book from 4 stars to 5 and I'm going to explain why but I'm leaving my original review since, well it doesn't seem right to change it, initially I was disappointed that it was so similar to all the previous ones, Shades POV in most cases didn't seem to add a great deal but that's where I was wrong Shades POV added a great deal to it which if I'm being totally honest I didn't fully appreciate till I'd finished the book.
Ms Begley has given us an amazing love story with an ending so beautiful and I just don't seem able to move on from this book.

I'm really struggling to write this review, I've been waiting for this book for what seems like forever, I just love Shade and Lily and I'm not really sure what I expected, I knew it was Shades story and I should have realised that most of this book would be a summary of the previous ones but from Shades POV, the problem with this is for a lot of the book there's very little that's new, while we do get some insights it's not as many as I expected.
It's taken me a lot longer to read this book than I expected mainly because I made the mistake of re-reading all the previous ones while waiting for this and therefore I found myself reading over the same thing again, so yes, there is a lot of repetition but despite this it was nice to have Shade and Lily's story all together in one book, I'm sad enough that I've skimmed all the previous books before now for all the Shade and Lily bits so this will make it easier.
While I was reading this book I noticed some inconsistencies and things I didn't like but the end of the book was just beautiful, this is where Ms Begley gives us exactly what we wanted and now the things that bothered me don't really seem that important anymore, I just loved the end of this book.

- I loved Killyama and she'll certainly give Train a run for his money.
- I'm looking forward to seeing who Rider ends up with, one thing this book did was give us a little more on him, and he's just a little too cocky and confident he needs a good woman.
- I've loved Willa all the way through and I want her to find her HEA but not with Lucky (more about this at the bottom)
- I've made no secret of the fact that I don't like Bliss, way more than all the others girls and way more after this book, I really don't want her to get a book if she does I won't be reading it.
- Still waiting for Penni and Jackals book, can't wait for that one.

*** SLIGHT SPOILERS ***Just me moaning about Lucky ***
My main problems with this book all seemed to revolve around Lucky and while at one time I was wanting him and Willa to get together I'm not anymore I really, really hope Willa gets someone else, someone who deserves her.
- It appears Lucky's interest in Beth while he was Pastor Dan was to allow him to have sex with a clear conscience after all he always had the option of divorce when he became Lucky again.
- Lucky describes Willa as not his type apparently he likes sluts, the sluttier the better, and he sees himself settling down with someone like Bliss or Jewel.....seriously he's not exactly every woman's dream and I would suggest Lucky and Bliss would be a perfect match if it wasn't for the fact that his book is next and I don't want to read about Bliss.
- Knowing Willa has a crush on him he decides to have sex with her neighbour, the slutty Jenna leaving his bike parked outside for a couple of hours and then stands by while Jenna insults and slaps Willa across the face, so I'm asking please don't put Willa with Lucky, it's not as is he doesn't have access to enough women this is just cruel.
- It's not just his dealings with women, in this book we get to see more of Lucky as Lucky and I didn't particularly like what we found.

This has got to be my favourite book out of all the last riders. If I could of give ten stars it would not of been enough, this book has it all . The story line was nothing short of perfection, I belly laughed so many times , but oh my god , I cried so hard , I could not get it out of my head for a long time . If you don't do anything else order this series you will not be disappointed. Well done Jamie BRILLIANTLY WROTE .

This was basically the retelling of all the books, but from Shade’s POV, so beware you’re going to get a lot of OW sex with the club girls. I’m torn, it was a smidge boring because certain scenes were literally cut and pasted from previous books, but I definitely liked his and Lily’s story better from his side because I find her incredibly tiring.

So, there’s really nothing new to add here. I know there’s been a lot of talk about Bliss when it came out in the first Shade book that she was desperately in love with him. I guess I can see where he didn’t treat her great, but I mean the author writes these club girls so desperately panting for these dude's D’s seriously like they’re sex addict junkies and will take anything for a fix that his actions IMO sort of fit her behavior. I’ve always found it sort of gross. I can’t think of any woman that would want to be roughly gang banged around the clock daily and is always panting for more. Like no one ever just wants to read a book or have some alone time?

Here were my big takes of the winners and losers…

🥇Shade was the ultimate puppet master and so devoted to Lily.
💩 Evie wasn’t as nice as I thought because she didn’t really give a shit about Beth at all in the beginning. Shade pushed that to keep Beth close to keep Lily close.
🥇Razer is the most improved biker. He went from a total manwhore to being totally whipped over Beth.
💩 I will always hate Bliss. It was shitty that she tried to tempt Shade and Razer after they were both with their ladies.

Bottom Line- Not much was new here, much of it was copy/paste, and for those that love Lily it may be hard to read so much of Shade and Bliss. He's with others, but he’s with Bliss a lot. At this point I’m getting all the books mixed up, but we get the conclusion to Brooke and how she tried to poison Lily in Cash’s book.

Future hint. Lucky’s grandson Brick is prez and into Shade’s granddaughter Violet.

even though there were A LOT of OW scenes in the beginning and some were very explicit (and most of this is with Bliss. ew. i really hate that woman) and some were fade to black, Shade's love for Lily was still undeniable.

i loved how possessive he was and when he finally decided to step up and become a MAN, Lily was the only one for him.

honestly, the OW scenes felt emotionless and mechanical and H didn't even seem like he enjoyed them. the last scene with OW aka Bliss was disturbing and very detailed tho and i didn't like it one bit.

STILL the scenes were too graphic. like, fifty shades kind of graphic, so i have no idea why that needed to be shown.

and i hated the second epilogue. im sorry but i know they were old that time (around 80 years old??) but i just didn't wanna know that Lily was dying and she had only months left. that was depressing.

I have read all of the books in this series and admit that I love The Last Riders series and that this author is a favorite of mine. With this series, either you love them or you hate them. I love reading about the flawed characters that include OTT/alpha/jealous/possessive men and women who are strong in one sense but aren't afraid to show their love for their man. The author introduced us to Shade and Lily way back inRazer's Ride. At that time, Lily was supposedly 17 years old, timid and suffering the after effects of horrible abuse inflicted upon her when she was a young child. Shade immediately wants her but agrees to wait until she graduates from college. Each subsequent book gives more information about Shade and Lily as a back story until Shade's Fall when Shade and Lily are finally together. All of the discussion threads burned with each book release and a lot of the discussion was about Shade/Lily rather than the main couple. Everyone was captivated by their story.
I would recommend that you read the previous books in the series so that you can have a clear understanding of the events that occur in Shade. Shade includes a lot of going back over past events that occurred during Shade's journey with his love/infatuation with Lily. I remembered each and every scene and never felt like I was re-reading old material. The author was able to present those same events with a fresh, new look from Shade's perspective as well as a lot of additional details not included in the other books. So much of Shade's behavior in the previous books becomes so much clearer.
If you are one of those who love to hate and malign the Last Riders for their sexual practices and "demeaning women" (which I do not agree with) then I recommend not reading the book. If you did not like the other books, you're not going to like this book.
Already I've read the negative comments about Shade and his "expectations" of Lily but the way I read it, Shade makes major changes in his life because he truly loves Lily. Yes he was a man-ho as long as he had to stay away from Lily but once he commits, he becomes celibate until he can have Lily. Did he have sex with the female club members? Yes, before he committed to Lily. Does he protect Lily from the women who would say or do hurtful things to her? Yes. In fact he threatens to throw Bliss into the street, her clothes behind her and fight with any club member who doesn't like him kicking her out of the club. He doesn't want any other man touching her but then he doesn't let any of the women touch him.
Shade has convinced himself he has an "attachment disorder" and cannot love anyone with the exception of Lily. He felt he came alive the first day he saw her. But he finds he is totally wrong when a tornado strikes their house and he thinks he has lost his infant son. As he digs his son from the rubble he realizes he is capable of love and later says "what I saw as loyalty to the people I care about was really love."
Was Shade perfect? No. But I think, based on all of Lily's abusive background, he was a perfect mate for her. She came first in his life, even before the club.
I loved revisiting the events in the previous books but what I loved most was walking through the journey of Shade and Lily's epic love story. Lily was the blood in his veins and the beat his heart needed to keep going. We see the young Shade and Lily and we see them in the sunset of their years when their love has survived 50 years. Shade was true to his word when he tells Lily early in their relationship that his heart wouldn't keep beating if something happened to her.
This book will stay with me a long time and it was well worth every one of those 800+ pages. Good job Ms. Begley.
My curiosity is peaked however with the knowledge Lucky's son is the Last Riders' president at the end of the book. Wonder what happened with Viper's two sons? I am very much looking forward to more books in this series.

BEST BOOK OF THE SERIES

The sixth book in The Last Riders series covers the previous five books and then gives more. I wasn't sure I was going to enjoy this one, I had the notion that a rehash of what's gone before would not be worth the read. I've read all the previous books, some I've loved others not quite so much. The same could be said for the characters. But what I hadn't bargained for was how very quickly I became engrossed, yes there are lots from the previous stories, but there are plenty of scenes that readers didn't get to read because they happened in the background,as each book mostly stuck with the scenes the heroine's were in. With it being written from Shade's POV we were we privy to these, it was interesting being inside Shade's head, sometimes during Shade's Fall I didn't always like how he treated Lily, but being able to see his reasoning behind his actions pulled things into focus. I have to say some of the characters whom I previously disliked have changed my mind how I think about them. Except for Bliss if anything I dislike her even more. I wasn't too keen on Lucky either, I had liked him a lot before this book. We'll have to see how his story pans out. The brand new part of the story was dramatic and emotional. The ending was even more so. The author has outdone herself IMO.

Love it! I seriously love this book. It is Shade POV during the entire series, and how he fell in love with Lily. So beautiful and you just feel this big love.

I cried like a baby last few lines of reading...
"Where you go, I will go,” Shade said, holding his wife closer. “I love you, Lily. Always.”

I think that this book can be read as a standalone. But certainly, the previous reading can be a better vision of the other characters. But this book takes beautifully together previous books.

This book has it all!

This book was intense. You know how you hate to read the same book form a different POV sometimes? Maybe because you feel like it’s exactly the same book or maybe because you don’t like the characters as much, or you feel like the hero/heroine is annoying you.  Well, this is nothing like that.
Jamie Begley has given us Shade’s POV. It recounts his love for Lily from the moment he meets her and recognizes that she is the only person who has made him feel something more than loyalty. It’s his recounting of his desire and love for a woman with many problems. It’s full of heartache but also great happiness.

Shade is the combination of 10 books by Jamie Begley. You get more than Shade’s POV. You get the reactions of the heroes from his eyes, he sees them falling in love even before they realize they have fallen. Shade has been there for all of them, in disguise, indirectly but he has always been there for the Last Riders and the people they love.
I love these characters and I love getting a little more insight into what was happening to them through Shade’s eyes.
Nothing prepared me for the ending. I couldn’t stop thinking about this series for a few days.

I’m dying to get more of Jamie’s characters. I want Lucky (Willa), Train (Killyama) and Rider’s story (Jo?). Also Rachel’s brothers ( Greer/Holly?), Penni, Ax, Crazy Bitch, and T.A.
One last thing, I want to own all of their IOUs.

"Tonight, I want to hold you in my arms, knowing that you’re taking one breath after another. That, when I wake in the morning, your beautiful face will be on the pillow next to mine, and tomorrow night, when I go to bed, you’ll be by my side again. Day after day, night after night.”

“It hurt so bad waiting for you, Lily. I thought I would lose my mind. No amount of liquor, women, or pot drove you from my mind. I would ride on my bike all the way to your dorm and sit outside just to watch you go to classes in the morning, then drive home and start the whole fucking thing over again.

"Shade" is the story of Lily and Shade.

One word to describe this book.. perfection.

Context- I read the Last Riders series in my early 20s. As a romantic idealist, I wasn't a big fan of the whoring around/ women sharing that happened in these books. My tastes since then have vastly changed, and I have become much more open minded. Still hate menage attacks though.

I LOVE "Shade's fall". Love love love. Apart from "Sex Piston", it's the only LR book I would voluntarily reread. For some reason, I kept putting off reading "Shade", which was the same book from his POV. And boy, was this amazing.

There is SO much context added to Shade's fall! We see the whole romance begin from Shade's eyes. How Lily entered his life and he learned to breathe. Description of years and years of unrequited love and yearning. Heartbreak, pain, wanting and not having. His insane obsession and love for her was so pure, I cried so many times. So much context is added to scenes from "Shade's Fall", and it's like a missing puzzle coming together- especially after Lily gets injured. He was her cowboy, she was the air he breathed. I am such a sucker for crazy obsessed heroes and UGH I LOVED IT SO MUCH.
Now was I happy he kept screwing OW- No. There's a lot of Biker bixs in this book, getting humped in the first half and trying to hump him in the second. But I do not expect chastity from MC romances and he was loyal once he finally got his woman.

“I love you, John Hunter.”

His heart soared at hearing her words.

“Lily, I didn’t know a man could love a woman as much as I love you. I don’t deserve you, but I’m never going to let you go. I couldn’t survive without you in my life. I wouldn’t want to.”

They face a lot of trials and tribulations post marriage- there are updates from other stories and characters. But it's them dealing with their marriage, pasts and love. There is also a good dose of angst, and we finally understand Shade's sociopath tendencies/ attachment disorder. The character development from chapter one to end is absolutely beautiful and so well written. The epilogues and ending.. IM SOBBING.. MY HEART *someone sedate me*. This.. end. Oh my god.

“Where you go, I will go,” Shade said, holding his wife closer. “I love you, Lily. Always.”

It's a long read, but so worth it. I couldn't put it down, couldn't eat-sleep-or breathe. Definitely one of the BEST ROMANCES I've ever read- and I do not say that lightly because the feels this gave me have been unparalleled for a while. Keep your tissues handy, it's hot but you WILL sob like a baby.

Absolutely fantabulous. The book will go in my MUST REREAD/ RECOMMEND pile to everyone and myself, granted your heart can take the awesomeness (and the end).

Annoyed! I love all of Jamies' books. BUT I hate a POV book. That's what this is, but the blurb does not tell us that. I would not have even bothered.
As far as I'm concerned, if the author did their job right to begin with, I don't need a POV book. I already understood the characters the first time around.
If I wanted to read the same story again, I would have just re-read "Shade's Fall".
The only purpose a POV book serves is to make the author more money.
I'm returning Shade & moving onto the next book.

Shit. I can't even.

This book gave me such a big bad hangover. The epilogue. CHILLS. It just gave me goosebumps because it was just so. damn. good.

Ugh. I still can't even.. after a month of reading it.. that epilogue stuck in my head.

The story was good. I LOVE the characters. Bah. One of my favorites.

The epilogue though.. makes everything bittersweet because it's one hell of an ending.. TO THE WHOLE SERIES. So I didn't understand that. Kind of gives away everything when the series isn't done yet...?
