This is exactly why I adore sports romances.

I honestly thought the first installment was the peak, but this sequel completely blew me away. Even as an outsider to this sport, I found myself addicted to the incredible chemistry and the fake dating dynamic. The banter was elite, and the tension was so intense that I was hooked from the very first page.

It was so much more than just a surface-level romance. I was deeply moved by how both leads leaned on each other while navigating their painful pasts and complex family secrets. Watching them slowly break down those emotional walls was raw and beautiful, and the way the story balanced such heavy heartache with lighter, laugh-out-loud moments was just perfect.

By the end, I was completely invested in their journey toward healing. It is rare to find a story that leaves me feeling breathless, emotional, and absolutely buzzing all at once.

If you love a slow burn that delivers on both the angst and the heat, do yourself a favor and dive into this series right now.

Huge thank you to the lovely E.L. Moran for the ARC! 😍 All my bookish thoughts are completely my own. ✨

I absolutely loved the second book in this series! 🥰

Danny and Shell were absolutely adorable together. Between all the banter, tension, and undeniable chemistry, I was hooked from the very beginning.

Both of these characters carry a lot of trauma, but they cope with it in completely different ways. Watching them slowly break down each other’s walls and become the support the other needed was beautiful.

Shell has such a hard time trusting people after everything she’s been through, so seeing her gradually let Danny into her life was incredibly beautiful. Danny, on the other hand, has spent so long hiding behind his party-boy reputation that finding someone worth changing for was exactly what he needed.

These two truly brought out the best in each other and I loved watching their relationship develop. Their chemistry was incredible, the banter was so much fun and the emotional moments hit just as hard.

It was also so great to be back in the world of Dawson’s Ridge and catch up with familiar faces. I already can’t wait for the next book! ❤️

ARC Review:
5 ⭐️

I am loving being on the Street Team for this series and was so lucky to receive an ARC! I thought book 1 in the Maroon Management series was it, but I’m blown away with Book 2.

Shell and Danny are the perfect couple, both with lots of baggage and sad pasts. It all begins with a fake relationship to try and keep Danny on his best behaviour. But the fake relationship turns so real and the build up of their relationship was fabulous. The love and family dynamic by the end of this book was the perfect way to finish. When I say emotions were running high, but at the same time, I needed to touch grass, I’m not lying.

This NRL romance had the perfect amount of banter, slow burn, smut and a storyline that will hit you in all the feels! I loved that you don’t find out about her past till more towards the end of the book which keeps the suspense going. Highly recommend reading!!

I had such a great time reading Worth the Lies! From the very first chapter, Shell and Danny's chemistry completely pulled me in, and I couldn't wait to see how their story would unfold.

The fake dating trope was one of my favorite parts, but what really made this book stand out was the emotional depth behind it. Both characters are carrying their own fears, responsibilities, and insecurities, and watching them slowly lower their walls felt incredibly rewarding. Their banter was witty, the tension was perfectly balanced, and every interaction felt authentic.

Danny isn't just the confident rugby star everyone sees on the surface, and Shell is so much more than a determined sports agent. I loved how they challenged each other while also becoming the support each other needed. Their relationship developed naturally, making every heartfelt moment hit even harder.

The small-town atmosphere gave the story so much charm, and I loved returning to Dawson's Ridge. The supporting characters made the world feel warm and lived-in, while the mix of humor, romance, and emotional moments kept the pages turning.

One thing I especially appreciated was how the romance never overshadowed the characters' personal journeys. Both Shell and Danny grow individually while learning to trust each other, and that balance made the story even more satisfying.

If you enjoy small-town romances with fake dating, fantastic banter, sports romance, emotional character growth, and a couple you'll find yourself rooting for, I'd definitely recommend picking this one up.

Thank you so much to E. L. Moran for the ARC copy in exchange for an honest review. It was such a fun and heartwarming read, and I can't wait to see what comes next from Dawson's Ridge.

Thank you to Em for the ARC!

My first 5 star read for the year! I am officially sucked into this series, even if I am an AFL girlie!!

Shell and Danny had me fully invested from the beginning. The banter? Elite. The chemistry? Unreal. The tension had me screaming and crying!

I am a sucker for fake dating and this was delivered on a silver platter!! The forced proximity, secret pining, emotional baggage and tension made me laugh and cry at the same time. Danny won me over and Shell was such a strong FMC I was envious!

I loved that this wasn't just romance, there was emotional depth, family dynamics and healing that had me feeling all the emotions. The whiplash (in the best way) kept me so invested because every time I thought I knew where things were going, something else dragged me into a different direction.

I need the next book stat because I am obsessed with this series (even if I know nothing about NRL). If you love Aussie sports romances, fake dating, banter, tension and characters you can't help but root for - pick this series up! Clear your schedule because once you start, you won't want to stop!

ARC Review 📚🥰

Happy release day @el so excited that Worth the Lies is officially out for everyone to read!! 🥳🙌🏼

I was lucky enough to read this ARC & it timed perfectly with me reading book 1: Worth the Scandal in the Maroon Management series 😆
This book followed the fake dating romance between star rugby player, Danny Collins & his sexy & quirky manager Shelley McCauley. Despite the stupid decisions made by Danny at the start of the book & not wanting any help from Shell in saving his career & reputation there are many deep & complex issues that both these characters are hiding & trying to deal with on their own…that is until they realise the load just might be easier with each other 🥰❤️

Worth the Lies & Worth the Scandal are both now available in paperback & on KU!!

🏉 Rugby League MMC
❤️ Sports Manager FMC

I really enjoyed this book, and rugby league was a new sports romance setting for me. Hopefully, this won’t be my last book featuring this sport.
Shelly and Danny both have traumatic pasts, and watching them overcome their struggles together had me hoping they would help each other heal. There are plenty of twists and turns throughout the story as their relationship develops, which kept me hooked. Their family dynamics are very different, and neither of them has had an easy past, but the way both characters work through their issues and slowly tear down the walls they’ve built gives real substance to their relationship.
Danny is fiercely protective of both Shelly and his niece, Rosie, who I fell in love with instantly. She has so much sass packed into such a small person.
This is the second Australian book I’ve read recently, and I’m really enjoying this setting. I’ll definitely be looking for more books by Australian authors.

Worth the Lies completely pulled me in from the first chapter. The chemistry between the main characters was intense, and the slow reveal of secrets kept me turning pages well into the night. Every time I thought I had things figured out, another twist changed everything.

E. L. Moran does a fantastic job balancing romance, tension, and emotional depth. The characters felt layered and believable, with flaws that made them easy to invest in. The banter was engaging, the emotional moments hit hard, and the pacing kept the story moving without feeling rushed.

I’ve cried, smiled, gotten second hand embarrassment and been on edge throughout this whole novel. I literally could not put it down. Well done on another great story in the Maroon Management series

Another excellent story by E.L Moran. I love sports romances and rugby league is a sport I love. The hurt and healing throughout this book made me feel all the feels. I love Shell and the headstrong knows what she wants woman she is BUT I love that Collins was able to weave his way in and get to heart of the vulnerable Shell, the depth of her hurt and the absolute protection he offers. Danny has his own demons he is fighting, a neice he needs to protect and a team he is determined to stay part of. Together they break down barriers, walls and their own feelings.

I started this book and finished it in one sitting. It was that good! I just couldn’t put it down.

Danny and Shell had me fully invested. The banter between them was perfect! The chemistry off the shards but the emotional connection was so beautiful.

So Worth It!

Were the lies worth it?! Absolutely

I loved Shell in Worth the Scandal and was so excited to hear that book 2 was all about her, and her story? SO Intriguing! Both Shell and Danny had such interesting (and heartbreaking) back story’s that weaved seamlessly into the plot.
Emotions, banter and spice… Worth the Lies had it all.

Sooooo is it time for book 3 yet?

An important PS for E L Moran - Danny made me roll my eyes and say ugh a few times… but I liked him!

After reading book one, I knew I needed to read the next book in the series. Being part of the street team, I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Worth the Lies.

This book had me hooked from the start. The mystery around Shel’s past kept me wanting to know more the entire time, and the twists about her family surpsied me.

I also loved Danny’s character growth throughout the story. Watching him slowly open up made everything feel so much more real.

Now, the spice… 🥵 so hot that I need a cold shower (you’ll get the joke when you read the book 😉).
I also loved seeing the characters from book one throughout this story.

Plus, it’s an NRL romance so honestly I was already sold. I loved the strong family themes throughout the book and the way everything came together in the end.😍

This is a good Aussie romance! If you enjoy a hunky rugby player who starts to develop feelings for his agent, while they fake date each other, this is for you!
Shelley and Danny both have complicated pasts, and are put in forced proximity. As they say, the rest is history.

I loved it, lots of lies, secrets and fake dating. Danny is a playboy with lots of family drama. Shell has a secret traumatic past. Shell and Danny are perfect for each other, they ground each other and they fight for each other. I loved the vibrator part and the ending was just so sweet.

Reviewing an Advanced Reader Copy from the author. Fake dating in the Aussie NRL world had me so keen to read this book. This story has messy character moments and an MMC who needs to pull his head in… a PR nightmare. I love a story that has strong friendships and found family.

After flipping the first page of that bloody book, I just knew I had no choice but to dive headfirst into the next one. The moment I started reading, I was completely hooked — felt like I was right there with Shel, living every moment of that mystery and heartache. The secrets lurking in her past haunted me, refused to let go, kept me flicking those pages faster and faster, desperate to uncover every single dark truth. The surprises about her family hit me like a punch in the gut, leaving me breathless and aching for more.

And Danny — oh, how he stole my heart. Watching him slowly break down those walls, piece by piece, made everything feel so raw, so real. His growth, his struggles, his moments of vulnerability — it all made me feel so damn connected, like I was right there beside him, fighting alongside him.

Then, the heat. Wow, the spice in this story was so intense I swear I needed a cold shower — the chemistry had me practically melting into my seat! And seeing those characters from the first book pop up throughout this story? Honestly, it was like catching up with old friends who mean the world to me.

Plus, let’s be honest — it’s an NRL romance. That was already enough to make my heart race. But those thick thighs in tight shorts? Yeah, they get me every single time. I didn't just read this — I lived it, felt it, loved every second of it with every fibre of my being.

Was so excited to receive this ARC read, as a fellow NRL fan, and it was so refreshing to get a true Aussie sports romance. I binged this in a full day because I couldn't put it down - however the whiplash (as said by Shell herself) literally kept me on the edge of my seat!

Shell and Danny boy are such loveable characters with haunted pasts, that I was screeamminngg into my kindle for them to just open up to each other haha. It's a duel read - my FAV style of book, and they are just so relatable. They are both headstrong, independent characters forced together with banter, hidden trauma and secret pining on both sides without realising it.

It's somewhat predictable in the sense that it's romance so we know what the ending is going to be, but the complete 180's through the book kept you wondering WHEN that was going to happen. Without spoilers - there are a few ongoing plot threads with Shell that I would have loved to be explored MORE, rather than coming out and wrapped up nicely with a bow in the last few chapters, but it all emulates real life when everything is happening all at once lol.

Honestly, I needed book 3 yesterday because I am loving this series, and it's an easy read that keeps you hooked. Headed to the novella now though to bridge the gap between book 1 and 2 - and unlike most interlacing sports romances; you do need to read these in order.

*Worth The Lies is book 2 in the Maroon Management series and is an interconnected standalone. While not necessary to read Worth The Scandal or Christmas is a Beach novella, characters and history will make more sense*

Shelley is such a dedicated agent she'll go as far as fake dating the star rugby player to fix his image and help her best friend's agency and her best friend's dad who's the coach. Can Danny Collins, league play boy and trouble maker get it together before her ruins everyone's reputation? And when they start to fall, will their pasts catch up to them before they get a chance?

So many time I wanted to yell at Danny for ruining things with Shell then yell at Shell for staying and putting up with him but deep down, they both had a mutual painful past that was bringing them together and when they finally got it together, it was so good! I can't believe the 2 different suspense plots E L was able to work into the plot and I love watching them okay out right at the very end. If you haven't read Christmas is a Beach, I highly recommend to help tie this story together and I'll be patiently awaiting Jen and Jace's story to see what's going on there.

There is honestly nothing better than reading an Aussie book. You get the idioms, the sayings, the slang, the people, the places. It just hits differently.

As someone who loves NRL, this book was always going to be a winner for me, and it absolutely delivered. I really enjoyed this one and loved being back in Dawson's Ridge. It felt like catching up with old friends while getting completely invested in a new story. I was obsessed with Shelley and Danny's story!

With fake dating, real feelings, blurred lines and all the small-town charm, this book had me hooked from the start. Shelley and Danny are both trying to escape a past that just won't let them go. They are carrying their own baggage, fighting their own battles and slowly finding something in each other when they least expect it. Watching their relationship develop felt natural and genuine. The chemistry was there, the emotions were real and I found myself completely invested in where their story was heading.

A cracking Aussie romance filled with warmth, healing, community and all the reasons I love picking up books set close to home.

I really enjoyed this one, honestly, I think I liked the storyline even more than the first book. The character development felt stronger this time around, and the banter between the characters was SUCH a standout for me. It felt natural, chaotic in the best way, and genuinely believable. The friendships and conversations read like real people talking, which made it really easy to sink into the story.

Shell is also incredibly lovable. She absolutely gives “living life at full speed” energy, but there’s a vulnerability to her that made me want to shake her and hug her at the same time. Danny shares her vulnerability, but only when he feels completely comfortable and safe with that person.

One thing I especially loved was how unapologetically Australian the book feels. A lot of Aussie authors tend to soften or lose some of the Australianisms to make books more internationally marketable, but this one really leans into it, making the story feel even more authentic and charming.

I'll be honest and say that the ending felt a tiny bit rushed. I really think the final few chapters could’ve been expanded because there were a few moments where things were implied rather than fully explored. Some plot points felt a bit like they were being quickly ticked off instead of properly unpacked, and I would’ve loved more depth there because the emotional groundwork was already SO good.

Overall though, this was a really enjoyable read with lovable characters, great banter, and a storyline that kept me invested the whole way through.

ARC REVIEW

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ + 🌶️🌶️.5

I feel so lucky to have receive an ARC copy of this book.
Worth the Lies had me hooked from the beginning, especially after reading worth the scandal.
This book follows Shell (badass business woman) and Danny Collin’s ( star footballer x drunk manwhore).
Both characters have their fair share of trauma that they work through which takes you through a really beautiful journey. Absolutely heartbreaking at times but also genuinely hilarious. The Aussie banter is unmatched and I fear if you’re not an Aussie you will just never truly understand.
I have a soft spot for all of the characters, except one toxic stalker freak ( I refuse to name him).
There’s nothing quite like trauma bonding with your friends and this book has its fair share.
Sports romance is becoming a favourite of mine thanks to authors like E L Moran and I’m really excited to read more, especially her books.
Hopefully we see a book in regard to Jen’s story. 🤞🏼🤞🏼🤞🏼

Worth the Lies was a 10/10 read that completely pulled me in from the very first chapter. The fake dating trope was executed perfectly, and I loved watching Shelley and Danny's relationship grow as the lines between what was fake and what was real became increasingly blurred.
Danny was so much more than the reputation everyone had given him, and Shelley was such a strong, determined character who refused to let herself be overlooked. Their chemistry was undeniable, and every interaction between them kept me invested in their story.
The small-town setting added so much charm and drama, while the emotional depth of both characters made the story feel even more meaningful. I found myself flying through the pages because I needed to know what happened next.
If you love fake dating, sports romance, small-town settings, and a he falls first romance, Worth the Lies is a must-read. It delivered the perfect mix of romance, tension, emotion, and character growth.

Firstly, thank you @elmoranauthor for this opportunity. Secondly, all my sports romance besties, get your hands on this! You won’t be disappointed. Worth the Lies is the second book in the Maroon Management series, however it can be read as a standalone but I do recommend reading Christmas is a Beach and Worth the Scandal first.

In this book, we dive into Shelley, one of the Maroon agents. Shelley ends up with the short straw of babysitting local, wild one, Danny Boy aka Danny Collins. To save Danny Boy’s career and reputation, Shelley ends up faking dating Danny. Now what drama could this bring to the world of rugby league? Grab your wine and strap in because you will love it.

Worth the Lies completely pulled me in from the very first chapter. This book was emotional, intense, addictive, and impossible to put down. E.L. Moran created characters that felt raw and real, and the chemistry between them was absolutely undeniable.

I loved how the story balanced romance with deeper emotional moments, making every interaction feel meaningful. The tension, the heartbreak, and the vulnerability all came together perfectly, and I found myself fully invested in their journey from start to finish.

This is one of those books that keeps you thinking about the characters long after you finish the final page. If you love emotional romance with angst, chemistry, and heartfelt moments, this one deserves a spot on your TBR.

This is the second book in the Maroon Management series and I don't know what she puts in her books but I am addicted.
I might actually like the book more than the first one and that's saying a lot because the first book had me by a chokehold I was so obsessed.
Worth the lies had me laughing (a lot), gasping and absolutely kicking my feet. It covers some deeper subjects but in an incredible way that helped you connect to the characters and their story, without taking away from the fun and romance.

To say that I am obsessed with Shelley and Danny would be an understatement and I loved the side character so much, they were so funny.

But omg Danny Collins the man you are 🥵😍

Worth The Lies by E L Moran
Book 2 in Maroon Management Series
Rating - ⭐️’s 4/5 🌶️’s 3/5

This Rugby Romance was a great palette cleanser.

In a small town where everyone knows everyone’s business. Danny Collins is the golden boy who is unpredictable and reckless. After blowing off some steam he finds himself in a position where he needs his PR team to clean up his image.

Shelley is the agent tasked with helping Danny be less of a liability, the one who sees through his mask. What started as an easy PR stunt, starts to become more.

Final Thoughts -
I really enjoyed reading this but found in some areas it was a little repetitive and one of the plot twists was a little rushed.
I am really enjoying this series so far and can’t wait to read book 3.

Omg this book!! I loved the setting and dynamic and chemistry between the fmc and mmc.

The banter between them was everything. She’s the bad ass agent who will do anything to protect her clients. She’ll even go as far as moving in and pretending to date Danny Collins, star player with a reputation off the field for ruining just about anything good in his life.

With his career on the line and his personal life falling apart, can a fake relationship with his agent fix it all?

Fake dating. Real feelings. Blurred lines.

Will it be worth the lies?

Thank you to the naughty nook and author for letting me read this arc

I loved how messy, funny, and genuinely lovable the characters were — they felt so real. And Danny??? Yeah, consider me obsessed. The perfect mix of cocky, chaotic, and secretly soft.

Worth the Lies is book 2 in the Maroon Management world by @elmoranauthor and it did not disappoint 😅

I’d say there’s nothing more unlikely than me choosing a Rugby League romance but after reading book 1 I jumped at the opportunity to request the ARC for book two (TYSM)

This is city meets country, small town romance, complicated fake dating and a few heavy topics thrown in for good measure. It kind of reminded me of neighbours or home and away, like a little suspense, plenty of banter and just some really good vibes. And don’t forget the 🌶️🌶️🌶️

A perfect companion to a work trip to Manly last weekend 🫶🏼
