His view is clear and wide and his theme is happiness―the kind you come upon easily and naturally when you live with a relaxed openness, alert to the potential for joy in common day experience. His world is a place we can go to when our spirits need soothing. more great essays by a master of essays--Hale's writings are works that even essayists Montagne and White would be proud to have written--I'm just proud to be a Texan as he is. While I've dabbled in journalism, journalism has been Hale's bread and butter for more decades than I've been alive. His mind and "voice" are as fresh and real as that of my own progeny!
