4 trouble in paradise STARS
Can I just say, I was over the moon when I saw this novella on my timeline. What a pleasant surprise and then I found out Reclaimed is about Nix and Kadence. They are one of my favourite couples from 2014. I just completely lost it and went right in to read. Incandescent, the first book in the Knights Rebels MC series was my biggest biker book surprise last year and I was dying to get some more of Nix after the second instalment Affliction didn't really work for me. And man, River Savage delivered this time around.
Reclaimed is such a well rounded read. It was touching, heartbreaking, sexy and insanely funny all at once.
At the end of Affliction Kadence gave birth to her and Nix's first daughter Harlow. This little novella deals with the aftermath of her pregnancy and what ups and downs their marriage has to endure.
Kadence is in a dark place. She has post partum depression and it's taking a toll on her ability to function in a normal way and her family and marriage suffer greatly as a result. She has lost herself and it was really heart-breaking to see this strong woman fighting and losing the battle with herself.
And poor Nix is just trying to keep it all together. In the end he is caring for everything by himself. His son Z, Harlow, Kadence and the club. I swear this man is a saint with a heart of gold. I was in love with his character before, but now I have a deep respect on top of that. He is supportive and patient. Two things indispensable when you are dealing with a situation like this one.
So how will Kadence overcome her problems and what happens with her marriage to Nix?
You might think this is a dark and depressing read, when in fact Reclaimed is a very hopeful and uplifting read. Post partum depression is very common thing, but unfortunately also a taboo in society. It needs to be addressed and woman need to know that they are not alone and that there is help. You just need to ask.
Considering that this is a very short novella I went through a lot more emotions than with most books. The beginning broke my heart and the ending had me crying from laughter. Well rounded...told ya.

Book 2.5 in the Knights Rebels series - This Novella should be read after books 1 and 2.
Nix and Kadence had there HEA in Incandescent but how is life treating them? Is the honeymoon finally at an end? This Novella discovers how the President of the Knights Rebels and his wife are adapting to family life... and thing have got tough for this loved up pair.
After giving birth and delivering a beautiful daughter called Harlow, Kadence has found herself in the depths of despair. Tired, emotional and struggling with motherhood, this begins to not just effect the relationship she has with Nix but also the happy loving home that she has provided her stepson Z with. The guilt of her supposed inability to be the perfect mother is drowning her and she doesn't know if she will ever get her relationship and life back to the place it was before Harlow came into their life.
Nix is struggling to watch his wife in so much turmoil. His perfect and blissfully happy life has suddenly changed direction and as much as its effecting him, it is now starting to effect his son. Nix is seriously at his wits end and he doesn't know what to do. When things finally come to a head, he is going to have to be harsh to help the person that is his life.
This is an emotional journey that blossoms into recovery and moving past the difficulties of Post-natal depression. It is a honest, real and heart warming story of how love and loyalty can help a woman overcome a darkness that is an all too common condition effecting new mums.
For me the star of this book is the mighty Nix. I think every new mother needs to be prescribed a dose of Nix. He is Kadence's calm and strength. His loyalty and love for her never wavers. You also get to see him with his brothers. Yes, Jesse, Sy, Brooks and Beau are back, it makes for some much need laugh out loud relief.
I love this series. I am a great fan of the gritty violent side of the MC romance genre but I also love the softer more romantic side as well. River Savage has a real talent for writing a deep emotional love story within the often harsh world of big bad biker men. It is definitely a series on the lighter side of the genre but that doesn't make it any lighter on quality.
A quick emotional and heart warming read - A perfect addition to this brilliant series.

I absolutely adore and love River Savage. When River writes a book, she gives it her all 110%. In her newest novella, Reclaimed, River once again wrote a book full of emotions, steam, and passion. In this novella, it follows up on my favorite couple Nix and Kadence as they adjust to married life and a newborn baby. Life for this happy couple is not what they expected when their baby was born. Kadence was hit with postpartum depression and struggling with her own issues of motherhood. Reclaimed was a story that was pure love, strength, dedication, healing, and happiness. It was a story of man making his woman to FEEL the unconditional love and see that he will always be there to support her and lift her up when she is down. They say love heals and Nix's love will HEAL Kadence. Overall, I really enjoyed Reclaimed and look forward to reading more books from the Knight Rebels MC.

This was an intresting book!
I liked Nix&Kandence from the first book and they didn't
disappoint me!
I liked Nix even more in this book because he wanted to help his wife
and their marriage to get through their problems that he didn't even care about his needs!(which is big deal for a man when he isn't the center of our world)LUCKY BITCH!!!
I liked that they were a team on how to find themselves and become a
family like they supposed to be!There were some funny scenes
AND some HOT scenes...
(like is it warm in here or is it just me kind of thing?)
In the end because of the team work they did it and they found their HEA!

FIVE 'LET ME HELP YOU' STARS!

This is novella in River Savage's Knights Rebels MC series is about Phoenix 'Nix' Knight, his wife, Kadence, and their experience following the birth of their daughter, Harlow.
Nix and Kadence were THAT couple, they deeply loved each other, they were clearly in lust with each other and they were totally in sync with one another, two halves of one soul. It was a beautiful relationship to watch unfold, and to this day, their story as told in the first book of this series, Incandescent, is one of my favorites. But, as happens more often than is talked about, following the birth of their daughter, Kadence's first child, she suffers from extreme postpartum depression. Nix, in his quest to reclaim the wife he so desperately misses, battles a force he doesn't understand, emotions he's unsure how to navigate and a surprising blow to his confidence in himself as a husband.
Kadence is lost in a sea of hopelessness and self loathing, in a constant battle with herself over her perceived failures as a mother. The fact that she is not failing at anything, that what she is feeling is fueled by the hormones that feed her depression, is completely lost on her. She cannot find her way out of the darkness that consumes her entirely. Nix, so strong and a true alpha man to his core, is desperate to drag his wife back into the light. He is hurt, he is lonely, he is scared and he misses his wife. He is worried, and he does not like the shell of a woman she has become. He questions himself, and his confidence falters. He finally emotionally pushes Kadence hard to talk to him, and with his proverbial hand extended, he begs her to reach for it, and thankfully, blessedly, she does. She finally shares her pain with Nix, the thoughts, doubts and self-recriminations that cloud her mind stealing her confidence and causing her to question her judgment. It is the first step in a very long road to recovery.
"I'm not doing good, Nix."
Nix did not react with anger or disappointment; no, he held his wife and got her help. He was a pillar of strength and consistency, and his love saw her through those many, many months to the other side. He did this for her even as he was dealing with the repercussions of her emotions and the toll they took on him. Oh yes, Ms. Savage did not spare one single truth in what is the reality of the situation for a family with a new baby dealing with the mother's PPD. She hit it dead-center, raw and spot-on, and this story was amazing in it's accuracy, excruciating in it's pain, and finally brilliant in it's recovery.
This was such a heartbreakingly beautiful story. There is so much truth and reality in Kadence's experience, that I openly wept and sobbed loudly, shaking, as I read the first four chapters. This is no light and easy read, it is rooted firmly in real-life. This issue is one of the swept under the rug secrets of motherhood that no one talks about out of shame and fear, and Ms. Savage picked up that rug and shook it hard. The real beauty of this story is in Kadence summoning the courage to let Nix in to her thoughts, fears and shame, sharing with him what she's feeling and what is going on in her head.
As someone who suffered from the very same severe and debilitating PPD for an extended period of time like Kadence did, I can tell you that what this character went through was her reality, and I know this because I felt those same things. Ms. Savage captured this issue from the first person and spouse's perspectives so precisely and vividly.
I cannot stress how well written, detailed and realistic a story Ms. Savage has given us. It hurt to read, but in true River Savage form, she healed us in the end with the blinding beauty of Nix and Kadence's love for each other. Thank you, River, for giving this topic a voice. Thank you for doing it so eloquently and carefully. Thank you for staying true to yourself, your fans, the Knights Rebels and Nix and Kadence in the process. This is a gorgeous, gut wrenching true love story as could only be told through the voice that is the immensely talented River Savage. Well done, River, well done.

These two really go through the ringer in this one as they battle to reclaim what brought them together but also to grasp a hold of themselves once more.
I really enjoyed the vulnerability and the realistic-ness of what both Nix and Kadence delivered to the table as not every love is always smooth sailing and happily ever after. It has its ups and downs; it has bumps in the road. Persevere, hold on and never stop trying if that person is really worth the fight and tears.

Reclaimed was a novella within the Knights Rebels MC by River Savage. It was a follow up to Nix and Kadence (book one, Incandescent) after their first child together.
Savage tackled the tough topic of postpartum depression. The first few pages were heartbreaking; however, it was likely a very realistic scenario for some. It was an emotional roller coaster. Savage didn’t end it quickly with a bow around it either - she continued to highlight the affects on those impacted on a daily basis. And in the end, Savage concluded with humor. No spoilers so no elaboration- but wait for it, you won’t be disappointed.
All in all, it was a quick and entertaining read. Love prevailed. It was messy and painful at times but forever love was and always will be worth the fight.

5 My heart hurt for Nix and Kadence Stars
Words cannot even describe the emotion in this novella. My heart ached for Kadence as she suffered with one of the most intense pains a mother can face- postpartum depression. Kadence has dreamed of being a mom for so long and yet the anxiety and unease she feels towards little Low is just heartbreaking. River’s description of what Kadence was feeling was so incredibly raw. I never suffered from postpartum depression but as I was reading this I could feel the anxiety seeping through the pages. She did a fabulous job of describing what I can only imagine a mother with this condition would be feeling.
Then you have Nix. It was very interesting reading the POV of a man- a husband- who’s wife suffers from such a condition. Normally when you hear of Postpartum Depression you think of the woman- the mom and it’s all about her and what she faces. I have never really taken the time to think about how the husband would feel. Seeing Nix- a big strong biker, feeling like he is failing his family in a way was touching. Reading all his emotions of how he just wants his wife better and will stop at nothing to get her there was remarkable.
Don’t get me wrong. This is a highly emotional read but I commend River for the way she told the story. You would think with a novella so packed with such thick emotion would leave you feeling saddened but it did quite the opposite. This is a full circle novella- it is full of moments that will bring you tears, make you laugh, and let’s not forget since this is Nix Knight we are talking about- it will leave you all hot and needing more of the Knights Rebels.

I just love River Savage's writing. She never ceases to amaze me with her books. Reclaimed was fantastic! Full review to come!
I am a huge fan of River Savage. I fell in love with Kadence and Nix in Incandescent, and was excited to get this novella about them.
This book is intense, you want to jump inside and help these characters through this rough patch they seem to be stuck in. After the birth of their daughter, Kadence falls in the depths of depression and this makes Nix feel helpless and doesn't know what to do to make it better. This is such a touchy subject to write about and I feel River did a fantastic job of showing just how bad things can get with this kind of situation, and how much family is really needed to bring that person out of their 'funk'.
This novella packed a punch and made my heart hurt a little for Nix and Kadence. I felt their pain, felt their frustrations and wanted to help them move forward. I really connected more to Nix in Reclaimed and felt he was fantastic with Kadence. He may not have known what to do with her but he still stayed by her side through it all and did anything and everything possible to help her.
The one thing that never disappoints in a River Savage book......is sex! Holy smokes that woman can write hella hot sex scenes! SO HOT!! I love her writing style and her ability to make characters that are easy to fall for. I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next!

In this little addition to the series, we are back with Nix and Kadence from book 1.
They are married, happy and have a new baby.
It is short, but managed to pack quite an emotional punch.
Now I am not a person who likes my HEA messed with after a book is done.
But here, it is so much messed with, more like serving to portray the love that Nix feels toward Kadence, and his determination to get them back to where they should be.
It is hard reading at times (especially as a person who suffered from PND after the birth of my second child, and did not ask for help till the baby was 6 months old) It can be easy to forget how this issue can affect the husband too.
I loved being in Nix's head so much, seeing his fears, his love, his worry. And the struggle Kadence felt, the guilt, the pain, the anguish was very real.
Yet, even after Kadence sought help, and was on the way to recovering, Nix struggled, he had lost his confidence and was struggling. There is no easy fix for this.
All in, a great short read, that just made me fall in love with Nix more

WoW!!! River Savage just amazes me everytime
This story was so touching, I'm sure a lot of us mothers (first time mothers) can relate to how Kadence felt. That overwhelming feeling like you don't know how to do this, like your not a good mother... And nobody tells you that this is normal so you just feel like a failure.
But Nix never gave up on her and just kept on pushing until she just had to give in.

This book was tough to read because you want Nix and Kadence to live happily after ever and sometimes life isn't that easy.
After having a baby, Kadence suffers from postpartum depression and nothing Nix does seems to help. While it's difficult to watch them go through this struggle, Nix stays by her side and refuses to lose the woman he loves.

One of the best thing about being an avid reader is that once in awhile a book comes along that truly touches your heart. Reclaimed is a novella in the Knights Rebels MC series, focusing on the relationship between Nix and Kadence and how they are coping with a new addition to their family. River is an author that pushes the envelope, explores the hard topics—she takes the harsh realities that we face everyday and applies it to her characters. Skilled writing like this is a rare find. I fell headlong into this book, experienced every second of it as though I was right there living it. The insecurities that Kadence was feeling broke my heart, but it also reaffirmed that its okay to not be okay. Establishing a connection like that with a book is something every reader is looking for.
Kadence suffers from something very common after having Harlow, post partum depression. The dark place she spirals into isn’t one she recognizes—she isn’t someone she recognizes anymore. Filled with large amounts of apprehension at her skills as a mother, she faces her worst nightmare, was having Harlow a mistake? The emotions that she was feeling, the doubt, the self-loathing—it was all so beautifully portrayed that I felt her pain coming off the pages in waves. Desperate to find herself again, to find the balance between being a mother and being herself—her struggle is heartbreaking. Through it all, she has to depend on Nix to pull her from the darkness back into the light.
Nix is a man that loves his wife, his family with an intense ferocity. Seeing Kadence suffer the way she is, feeling as though the woman he loves is slipping away is slowly eating at him. What I loved about this story was his determination to stand by her side. To help her find her way back to believing in herself, to believing in their love. Can what they had be saved once Kadence sinks to her lowest point? Will Nix be able to pull her from the darkness that’s claimed her?
This is a book that seeps into your heart. The struggles are real, their love is real. River Savage—you have given us a gift with a continuation of Nix and Kadence’s love story. These two have reclaimed my heart with their passionate love, dirty talk and sassy banter. Will they reclaim yours?

Would fuckin’ die before I didn’t have you. Now go back to sleep,” he orders again, and that small flutter of lust stirs in me. Yes, that trust, it’s coming back.
Absolutely AMAZING! River Savage knows how to write a damn good book. I was extremely excited when she announced another book for Nix and Kadence. More Nix in my life, the better. I loved him in Incandescent, but we see a different side of Nix I was not expecting and I love him even more now than I did before. He goes above and beyond for his woman. He never ceases to amaze me with his words, actions and above all else, his heart. He loves Kadence with his whole heart and won't let her go down without a fight. He fights to get back the Kadence he met and fell in love with. But they have a long road in front of them. Since the birth of their little girl Harlow, Kadence doesn't feel worthy of what she has, let alone fit to be a parent. She feels she is not only letting down herself, but Nix, Z, and Harlow. Her family means the world to her, but she doesn't want to face the reality of what her life has become. Kadence is going through Post Partum Depression, which I have to give props to River for writing real life scenarios which we can easily relate to as a women and mothers. So while reading this book, I was able to relate to what Kadence was going through and knew how hard her fight was to get back what she had. It was heartbreaking, raw and emotional. so many feels. My heart broke for her and Nix . But don't worry, the Nix and Kadence we have come to know and love are still there, but are buried beneath heartache, self loathing and guilt. The questions remain. Will Nix and Kadence be able to find there way back to each other and themselves? Will Kadence finally admit that she needs help? Or will she continue push Nix to the point of no return?
I will say this, Nix and Kadence definitely upped the game in the passion department. Holy crap balls. Those scenes were freaking Hot as Hell! Nix never disappoints in that department, no surprise there. But he does get himself into a predicament that had me laughing so "hard" (pun intended) I couldn't stop. That man is off the charts. Hmmm.
I totally recommend you get your copy today. It most definitely does not disappoint. If you thought you loved Nix before, wait till you read this. Hot Damn!

This novella was beautiful and intense.
Considering that it is only a short chapter in Kadence and Nix's full on, and sometimes crazy life. It did not feel lacking in any way. So many important moments were covered in this novella, and they were done incredibly well.
This novella takes us to when Kadence and Nix have had their baby girl, Harlow (Low).
It is approximately 7 weeks since she was born, and things are not easy for them all. Kadence is suffering with Post Natal Depression (UK term), and really struggling. Nix is trying his very best to be there for Kadence, but he is also struggling in his own way.
This was an amazingly well covered topic, it's obviously not an easy subject and something that is experienced differently for every woman that suffers with this illness. Personally, I could relate, and thought it was incredibly well written and sympathetic to so many different elements of that lonely and debilitating illness.
Aside from that factor, the love that Kadence and Nix show for each other, was still so strong and addictive. I never tire of reading about these characters. Nix is still so unbelievably gruff and alpha, but also stupidly sexy. Kadence is a beautiful and strong character, who seems to grow so much, each time we get to read about her.
After reading quite a sad chapter in their life, I think it ended absolutely perfectly. Bringing in to the story, the amazing chemistry and fun they had right at the beginning. I was in hysterics towards the end, and felt the story had ended on a fantastic note.
Loved this story, and it's reminded me about all the characters I can't wait to get to, when it's their turn.

Everything is glowing and happy in the Knight family. But then things turn for the worse.....
Kadence and Nix's journey is definitely not an easy one. Having a baby means happiness and loving moments. However, no one tells you how truly hard it can sometimes be.

Reclaimed is a sexy, romantic, gritty and very real love story from River Savage. As a fan of her earlier books, I couldn’t wait to see what she had in store for Nix and Kadence. The story starts off with a beautiful and H-O-T scene between the two characters and then, when their lives should have been fulfilling and beautiful, events take a turn into some very dark territory. I applaud Ms. Savage for tackling a very serious topic with great sensitivity, imagination and yes. even a little humor.
There are lots of spoilers in this story so I won’t be too detailed here but if you are a fan of the first two books in this series, do not miss Reclaimed! Nix is as hot as ever and the dialogue in this book crackles off the page. The author did a wonderful job of conveying Kadence’s pain and her struggles to deal with her issues.

I just fell a little more in love with Nix. If you thought him hot on incandescent you are going to completely go over hills for him in this book.
even though this is a short novella is was packed, with true marriage struggles,how you deal with them and how important your support system is on times like this.
It was also hot and funny all the ingredients for a great book.
I can't wait to see what Ms. River has next for us in store.

This was a seriously deep read dealing with harsh realities some of us have dealt with after childbirth.. And the approach taken in the story was PERFECT!!! For a Novella length book You know it was an awesome read when you can smile at the end given the circumstances and topic..

No one tells you, you will spend your days worrying if you’re doing everything right, and your nights crying when you fail. But the most heartbreaking thing of all the numbness. No one told me about the numb feeling, or that it would be the most excruciating pain I would ever experience even if some days I didn’t care.”
This book is a hard, raw look at a reality so many women face. It’s a real honest look at a pain hardly spoken or written about in the book world. Even though this is only a novella, this is a story that grabs you and moves you like no novella ever has done to me. This was raw emotion and I applaud River on her execution.

This is the truth behind post-partum depression and the roller coaster ride it takes a relationship and an individual on. I ached for Kadence as I read her story, I cried as I witnessed the thoughts going through her head. Kadence, like all moms dreamed of this perfect moment, the birth of your child. Her anxiety and emotions are so real and her thoughts aren’t that far from what every new mother experiences. She ripped my heart out. As a mom I totally could sympathizes with Kadence, and as I was reading I totally could feel her pain as she tried to cope with exactly was happening to her.

Even with all that going on with Kadence I have to say the shining star in this book for me was Nix. I loved that we were given a glimpse into what post partum does to the spouse as while as the family. There is such a bright light shined on women when it comes to post partum because it is the mom who is experiencing it. You never really see or hear how it affects the man or the household as a whole. To get to see Nix, who in the first book was painted as this Alpha male, struggle made this ten times more powerful. To watch him just want his wife back and to watch what it made him feel as man made me fall even more in love with him as a character.
“I have a date with my husband. With Nix Knight, President of the Knights Rebels. God I’ve missed him.”
Usually with a Novella I find myself saying I need more, or saying I just didn’t connect but with this it was the complete opposite. It had everything I get from a full story and more! It was a complete, absolutely breathtaking journey. And what I loved was that River didn’t make it 100% serious, she made sure she gave you the laughs and she still gave you the OMG THAT’S HOT that you are expecting from her. This is absolutely a novella I will never forget and it’s an absolute beautiful addition to the series that is the Rebel Knights story.

“No one tells you that having a baby could make you feel so out of control, or lonely. That small, everyday tasks would become insurmountable hurdles. No one tells you, you will spend your days worrying if you’re doing everything right, and your nights crying when you fail. But the most heartbreaking thing of all the numbness. No one told me about the numb feeling, or that it would be the most excruciating pain I would ever experience even if some days I didn’t care.”
This book is a hard, raw look at a reality so many women face. It’s a real honest look at a pain hardly spoken or written about in the book world. Even though this is only a novella, this is a story that grabs you and moves you like no novella ever has done to me. This was raw emotion and I applaud River on her execution.

I see I'm in the minority but for me this was just a short, flat read. The writing was fine but this was more of a very short story about the difficult issue of postpartum depression than anything else. The strains on their relationship & pain he felt for her are pretty much it.
At one point when he tells her that he's had enough I believe he would've walked away if she had not sought help. About 90% of the book consists of their generic fights and her struggle to understand what was happening to her.
Actually dealing with her PPD, and then any resolution, was vague and glossed over other as was the fact that she ended up being seen by a doctor of some sort and began taking a medication.
The club doesn't really factor into the story if you're reading for that storyline. The members merely serve as backdrop for Nix' venting.
Their sex life resumes only on the last few pages in a comedy of errors. Nix takes Viagra & ends up having to go to the ER. The reason for the Viagra was that he wasn't sure he could get it up after having spent months of her tensing up when he would try to initiate any physical contact, even to hold her. Her tensing up caused him to lose the erections and then question himself. There wasn't really any passion in the story.
PPD is heartbreaking, extremely difficult, and still not fully appreciated/understood by medical/psych community and society in general.
Thankfully that is changing mostly due to the fact that women and the families who support them are becoming more vocal and in turn, support and awareness is growing - thanks in large part to women who have experienced PPD and their commitment to help others battling the same severe and baffling depression. And the media attention including books focused on studies, latest findings, personal experiences, and support & attempts to raise awareness, etc.
Sensitive topics are common in the romance genre but are not usually 90% of a story. There is nothing clinical here, no clear definition or in-depth study of PPD but I commend the author for showing support to women who suffer with it.
It's just not what I read romance/erotica for. This goodreads account is used solely for the fun, entertaining and smutty area of my library - but am glad for the readers the story speaks to and the validation they feel, because so often that is lacking in the lives of those who have dealt with PPD.

I received and ARC of this book for an honest review. I knew from the teasers that this book had a hard topic rarely featured and that it would really hurt my heart. Nix & Kadence are excitedly awaiting the birth of their daughter, a symbol of their great love for each other. Sadly for Kadence the birth of their daughter and bringing her home isn't the joyful experience she thought & hoped it would be. She can't understand why, why she's drowning in her fears of motherhood and being a failure at it. This spirals into affecting her marriage & relationship with Nix & their son Z. Nix finally gets through to Kadence & we find out that she's suffering from postpartum depression. Approximately 10 to 15% of women suffer from postpartum mood disorders, including postpartum depression. I have a lot of respect for River tackling this topic because so many women think it's something wrong with them and don't seek help. Hopefully through River's great story telling it'll help at least one woman maybe going through something similar. This story hurt my heart and made me want to hug Kadence & Nix & tell them they'll get through it. And River didn't leave me hanging she brought back the Nix & Kadence that I fell in love with but better & stronger.
