The Ashmark #2

Claws and Bonds

Rate this book
All I wanted was peace. Instead, I got control and a reason to stop playing nice.

I thought surviving a prophecy, postponing fate, and basically blowing up the wolf council would earn me a break.

it didn’t.

Walking away from my mate and my family was supposed to keep them safe. Instead, it made me an even bigger target—landing me in a place where power listens, walls breathe, and control is something you're trained to surrender to, piece by piece.

And the monster sitting on the throne? He’s full of lies.

But the darkness hasn’t broken me. It’s taught me exactly who I am.

When I emerge from captivity, Cade has torn his way through days and nights to find me, leaving a wreckage in his wake, but our problems aren’t the only ones demanding attention.

I didn’t ask for this power. But it’s mine, and if anyone thinks they get to decide my fate for me, they’re about to learn… I’m not the prophecy they feared. I’m the reckoning they made.

**Duet narration from Scott Rose and Olivia King

**Claws and Bonds is the second book in The Ashmark Trilogy, perfect for fans of wolf shifters, found family chaos, snarky heroines, grumpy alphas, and just the right amount of supernatural mayhem. If you like your fantasy with bite, banter, and a side of magical dysfunction, welcome to NightShade Manor.

Claws and Bonds picks up right where Fates & Curses dropped us. The duet narration from Scott Rose and Olivia King is again top notch. They both do a great job not only with voicing Cade and Rowan, but also with the other characters.

Rowan is with Malrick. While Malrick is trying to break her, Rowan just refuses to be broken. She is building up her physical strength and getting stronger magically at the same time.

Meanwhile Cade is searching non-stop for Rowan along with Archie and the rest of the crew.

Rowan manages to break free of Malrick and bumps into her own father before Cade finding her. Their reunion is utter perfection. Rowan has become a force to be reckoned with. She will not be held down again.

Iris and Archie are two of my favorite side-characters ever. I just love them and the banter between all of the characters.

Of course, this book also ends in a cliffhanger, but it's not a terrible one. It definitely leaves you wanting more of the story but not crushed.

Thank you to Heather and the Duet Narration Audiobook Club for the ALC.

Ahhhh! Absolutely phenomenal. Book 3 will be epic as well, I have no doubt. Heather has a way of pulling you in from page one and then holding you hostage for the next 4 to 6 hours. Make sure you have a drink, snacks, and a blanket nearby, because you will not want to move once you start this series!

Claws and Bonds in the second book in The Ashmark series by Heather Renee. I listened to the Duet Narration audiobook, narrated by Scott Rose and Olivia King. This book starts off just after the ending of book one, post battle and in a challenging situation that Rowan unintentionally put herself in through desperation. This book does have multiple POV’s throughout the story, however it is clear throughout the audiobook which character is the focus of each chapter.

This story was more character background, personal growth, and relationship building than one of action and suspense like the first one. Rowan, the FMC, must choose her own fate and decide if she will become the end of the supernaturals, or their savior. She is forced to go through multiple events throughout the book which allow her to grow and learn about her newly discovered powers, but could lead to an enemy winning in the end.

The other character that has their own chapters is Rowan’s wolf shifter mate, Cade. He goes through a full range of emotions and growth in various aspects of himself throughout the book, and seems much more of a supportive and worthy Alpha mate for Rowan as the reader is able to see his personal growth.

The narrators in this Duet Narration audiobook were fantastic, just as they were in the first book of the series. Both narrators showed impressive range in their ability to voice multiple characters of various ages and backgrounds. The listener is truly able to connect with the emotions of the characters while listening to the audiobook.

Overall, I enjoyed this story and cannot wait to continue the series. Claws and Bonds is a classic of the middle of a series type story, with some events and questions from book 1 being partially resolved, while other plot openings were created. That being said, the book kept my interest to the point that I absolutely devoured it, and listened to the entire thing in 1 day.

As with book 1, this story does end on a cliffhanger, so readers should be aware of this before diving into it.

I received an ALC of this book thanks to the DNABC Street team on Facebook and the author Heather Renee in exchange for my fair and honest review.

I never know what to expect at Nightshade Manor and this one didn’t disappoint. Team RoCa is in full effect!

The second installment kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time! After that ending, I was eager to see what happened with Rowan. Rowan is at another Inn with her captor, Malrik and we see how she experiences her captivity. Her missing not only affects Rowan, but it also hurts Archie, Cade, Iris, and Liz. No one is at peace and no rest until Rowan can be found.

The growth that Rowan has had while being held captive is remarkable. It’s like a whole new character, but grown up and fierce! No worries, we still have some hilarious snarkyness commentary from Rowan. There are so many surprises in this installment. I’m crossing my fingers and toes because I’m very hopeful for Rowan, Cade and the rest of the gang. I’m very anxious to see what happens next.

The narrators, Scott Rose, and Olivia King did an amazing job portraying their Cade and Rowan. I absolutely loved the tones and inflections used for the characters. The emotions that the characters felt were nailed perfectly!

This is perfect for lovers of shifter romance, cozy vibes with high stakes, snarky heroine, prophecy, magic, found family, animal sidekick and reluctant fated mates.

Favorite Quotes:

“We stick together”

“I won’t let anything touch her,” I vow. “Not Malrick. Not the Council. Not even fate. Whatever comes next, I’ll be standing between her and every threat she faces.”

For over a decade, I haven’t known what family feels like, but I think I’m starting to remember, and not only that…I’m remembering how to be part of one again.”

“Me? Cry? Please. I’m a beacon of emotional stability.”

“Relax, Alpha Doom-and-Gloom. She’s not being kidnapped. Again.”

“Rowan and I just need to catch up, debrief, maybe cry, maybe threaten people. I don’t know. It’s fluid.”

A very special thanks to the author for the gifted copy.

⭐️Claws and Bonds** by Heather Renee⭐️
🎧 Duet narrated by Scott Rose & Olivia King

Scott Rose and Olivia King absolutely smashed it once again! Their duet narration was phenomenal, bringing both the main and supporting characters to life with incredible range, emotion, and distinct voices. Every heartfelt moment, every tense scene, and every emotional beat landed perfectly!

I loved Rowan's character growth in this book. She's finally embracing who she is as both a shifter and an Ashmark. The fear hasn't disappeared, but it no longer defines or controls her, and that made her journey so satisfying to watch.

Cade…. Whew... he was every bit the sexy, growly beast we've come to love! Grumpier than ever, fiercely protective, and completely obsessed with finding and protecting his mate... and I was here for every second of it. 🖤

I’ve got to mention Iris—she's just as delightfully unhinged as ever! There may or may not have been a moment involving her, a fanny pack, some glitter... and a vampire…."A sparkly vampire... can you imagine?" 🤣 I am so hear for her quirkiness ,I loved every second of it.

Archie is, and always will be, my favourite. Even with less page time, he completely stole every scene he was in. And that reunion with Rowan? Instant tears. It was such a beautiful, emotional moment that quickly became one of my favourites in the entire book. My heart was so full... and completely shattered at the same time. 🥹😭

And that ending... ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! Another absolute WTF cliffhanger! Heather Renee really knows how to leave readers desperate for more!

Thank you DuetNarratedAudiobookClub and Heather Renee for the opportunity to review this audiobook!

I was so excited to get the ALC for this book as I loved book one SO much! Book two picks up right where the first left off with Rowan being taken and her captivity. I absolutely loved how she kept her snark through the entire experience, throwing it full force at her captor! She truly has some huge realisations and personal growth which see's her step into who she is meant to be.

I really enjoyed the fact we got to see how Rowan being missing impacted all the other characters physically and emotionally, which is often something glossed over in books.

We still had all the angst and tension between Rowan & Cade and I loved seeing the progression in their relationship when she returned following on from our FMC's personal growth. Cade is just so sweet and whilst I really enjoyed him in books one, you see a different side to him as things progress. The mix of sweet and feral for her is PERFECTION!!!

Of course the found family was on point, Archie, so adorable, I can't even LOL! I wanted more of Iris because I absolutely love her but she was there in the correct amount for the story/what she had going on and I have a feeling she will be a little more front and centre in book three (no spoilers but she will be mad lol). I can't help it, I love an off her rocker in style grandmother.

All in all another fabulous read by Heather Renee, a huge thank you for the ALC. I thoroughly enjoyed it and the narration by Scott Rose and Olivia King was on point. They do an incredible job bringing this whole cast of characters to life and you can truly get lost in the book without needing to think as each voice is so distinctive.

It's here: book two in the Ashmark series, and I couldn't be more excited! I've been dying for Claws and Bonds since that killer cliffhanger in the previous book. I don't know what I was expecting, but it wasn’t this. The villain is revealed, but I still have questions, like what exactly does he want, and what does Rowan has to do with it?

Rowan started this book regretting all her life choices, which, really, she should have. Who goes off with a perfect stranger because they offer answers? That's the equivalent of getting in some guy's white panel van. Rowan goes through some things and comes out a whole new person. I really liked the progress she made. Ro is more confident about being a shifter and an ashmark. It's not that she's less afraid; she doesn't let it control her anymore. Cade was all sexy beast in this one. He's grumpier than ever, but his determination to find and rescue his mate was admirable. His level of understanding, consideration, and care towards Rowan really pulled at my heartstrings.

Claws and Bonds was incredible. I was invested in every moment. The scenes in which Rowan was held captive were both interesting and informative. There was a sentient castle, an interesting character, and a few explanations that put things in perspective. Two completely unexpected plot twists had me questioning what I read, and that includes the mind-blowing cliffhanger. I couldn't believe what I read. How Heather is going to explain this, I don't know, but I'm more than ready to find out what happens in the final book, Ashes and Vows.

Listening to Claws and Bonds on audio pulled me straight back into Rowen’s world, and honestly, it made the emotional beats hit even harder.

The narrator brings out every edge of her frustration, fear, and stubborn strength, and Cade’s intensity feels even more magnetic when you hear it delivered in his voice.

This book deepens everything, the prophecy, the danger, the bonds forming around Rowen.

She’s still fighting for control of her own life, but the audio really highlights how much she’s growing into her power and how heavy the expectations on her shoulders have become.

Cade is peak broody Alpha, but the narration gives him layers: loyalty, fear, protectiveness, and that slow‑burn devotion he is done fighting. Their chemistry simmers through every scene, and the tension is thick enough to feel in your chest.

The world expands, the stakes rise, and the reveals land with more weight when you hear them spoken. And yes, the cliffhanger is brutal in audio form. I sat there with more questions that I had in book 1.

Slow burn tension and undeniable chemistry pour from every page of this utterly unputdownable story! Rowan is fierce and relentless as she navigates the twisted whims of a madman, and watching her power blaze brighter with every challenge was both brutal and captivating. While she waits for the perfect moment to strike, Rowan does what she does best—she saves herself—and I was cheering for her every step of the way. We witness every one of her emotions colliding, and though she wavers, she never breaks, and that was absolutely glorious!

Her reunion with her crew was heartfelt and emotional, but it was the shocking twist tied to her past that absolutely wrecked me in the best possible way and had tears streaming down my face. My heart felt every single emotion.

And the tension between Ro and Cade? Absolutely electric. Heather Renee has such a gift for crafting longing and chemistry that leaps straight from the pages.

The magical world-building and the sentient traces of magic woven throughout the story were nothing short of pure, chef’s kiss brilliance.

But let’s be honest—Archie is still the true hero of this story. His hilarious quips and lovable, huggable personality made me want to pull him right out of the book and keep him for myself!

Fun, quirky, captivating, intriguing, unique and endearing are a few ways to describe this book. This book takes off right after the cliffhanger of book 1.

There’s character growth mainly the main fc Rowan, her sassy snarky fun banter and commentary is definitely a thing I love. It’s given a great story some extra depth with a character you just become obsessed with and wondering what will she say next. The personal growth is huge in this book, coming into herself, finding herself and the confidence is on point.

It’s definitely got that middle book energy setting up for a big final book. I’m intrigued to what will happen. The found family in this book is like nothing you have read before, each person is so different and just wow but they are a puzzle that just perfectly fits together including Archie the ferret that talks and grows is size when he feels is needed.

I’m excited to see where this goes, how Rowans powers progress even more, ready for this slow burn to give some full burn because it’s so good. If you’ve met Cade you’d understand. Overall I’m excited for book 3 and couldn’t put this down. You definitely need to read book 1 first so go check them out!

Thank you so much Heather Renee and BookFunnel for getting an ALC to me I love love love these books, they are so much fun! Below is my honest review and all thoughts and opinions are absolutely my own!

Everything you could want and more in a sequel book!! I loved this one and had just as much fun with it as I did the first one 🙌🏻 it picks up right where book 1 left off, and that’s the best already! This book I’m dubbing as Rowen character ARC book! Her growth is amazing, she finally learns to trust herself, she gains control, love, acceptance, and more family! Cade also comes in to himself and steps up more to his Alpha role. Everything about it is so good. The way they grow together and help each other figure out where there places are within the packs. I love the pack politics if you couldn’t tell. There’s not as much of Archie shenanigans, but his reunion with Rowan gets me right in the feels! And our cooky Iris is no less cooky! My favorite scene with her involved her fanny pack, some glitter, and a vampire. I mean a sparkly vampire, could you imagine it 😂💀🤭 I love her so much!! Overall a solid sequel book and I can not wait for the finale in this series, even if I’m not ready for it to be over. I truly have grown to love these characters and really want more from them!

Oh and P.S. yes it once again will leave you free falling from that cliffhanger at the end and 𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗹 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗻𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗼𝗻𝗲! Because holy smokes, what was that 🤯

Beyond all of this inside you will find:

🖤Animal Companion
🖤Mates
🖤Banter for Days
🖤FMC With Snarky Inner Monologue
🖤Alpha MMC who would rather stab first and ask questions later
🖤Found Family
🖤Hidden Magic
🖤Shifters, and Vampires, and Witches oh my

I’m sorry but that ending!! I need the next book asap because that ending left me needing to know what happened next. I was expecting a cliffhanger but I wasn’t ready for that!

This book picks up right where book 1 ends.

Rowan grows so much in this book. She gains control of her powers. Not in a way I really liked but hey it worked. I liked seeing how her being mia affected the other characters.

Cade goes through so much. His mate was missing and he was going crazy without her. I loved watching him step into his role as alpha and trying to make everything right in the wolf world.

Malrik is someone I really hope has a terrible ending in the next book. I absolutely despise this guy and once you read this book you will too. He’s the guy she goes with at the end of book 1.

I love Archie and wished we got to see more of him because I love the little guy. I have a soft spot for ferrets because my best friend has one. Archie is a funny little guy that lights up this story.

I can’t wait to see how Cade and Rowan’s story ends! Their story is technically a slow burn when it comes to wolves and their mates so I can’t wait for book 3. I read this book as an arc.

This sequel absolutely delivered! I finished the audiobook in just two days because I couldn't stop listening. The duet narration was fantastic and brought every emotional moment to life. The story is packed with tension, angst, and unexpected twists that kept me hooked from start to finish.

Rowen and Cade's relationship continues to shine as their mate bond deepens. Cade's tough Alpha exterior paired with the softer side he only shows Rowen is impossible not to love. And Rowen continues to be an incredible heroine: strong, fearless, stubborn in the best way, and willing to fight for her found family no matter the cost.

The character development is one of this book's biggest strengths. Both the main characters and supporting cast grow in meaningful ways, and I especially enjoyed learning more about the world's lore. The villain is becoming more intriguing with every reveal, and that cliffhanger ending has me counting the days until book three.

If you enjoyed the first book, this sequel raises the stakes in every way.

This story grabbed me from the very first page and didn't let go. It was an absolute emotional whirlwind, taking me through all the highs of intense passion and the gut-wrenching lows of heartbreak, before finally delivering such a powerful sense of redemption. And can we talk about the main characters? Their connection was simply magnetic – truly unforgettable.  Their journey together was far from easy and  packed with its fair share of agony, deeply buried secrets, and some significant missteps. But witnessing them navigate those challenges and ultimately earn that hard-fought forgiveness was incredibly moving. They hit right in the heart, every single time.  What I really appreciated was how brilliantly the author balanced the tough, heartbreaking parts with beautiful sparks of hope. It kept me completely hooked! Just when I thought I had a grasp on where things were going, BAM! Another unexpected twist or a profound emotional revelation would pop up, leaving me utterly desperate to flip to the next chapter

Claws and Bonds: The Ashmark: Book Two

Narrators: Scott Rose and Olivia King

Duet Narration

The narrators were a lot of fun to listen to. They voiced many characters with skill and each were unique. Now that we’re delving further into the world the character driven plot points are hooking us easier with the help of their voice skill.

We are exploring more of this new world along side the FMC. She finds herself at the center of a mysterious prophecy and she’s found her fated mate. We catch up with her soon after the dramatic cliffhanger of book one. The story is constantly moving forward with vibrant characters and epic personalities. The passion between the main characters just keeps building. I was drawn to them. Can’t wait to see what’s next.

Did I mention the cliffy for book two is clear knock out!

** Fated mates
** Prophecy
** shifter
** secrets

Audio Review:
Duet Narration by Olivia King and Scott Rose
4.75⭐

Tropes:
Fated mates
Forced proximity
Magical chaos
Hidden supernatural world
Grumpy/Snarky
Slow burn

Picking up right where that wild cliffhanger in Book 1 left off, Rowan’s journey through captivity shows off her top-tier snark and incredible magic as she learns what she is truly capable of doing. Cade is utterly swoon-worthy this time around—that blend of sweet devotion and feral protective energy for Rowan made me swoon. Team RoCa for the win!

Rowan's emotional reunion with her family was everything I hoped for. But dammit, that cliffhanger ending annoyed me in the best way possible because there needs to be justice, and I need the conclusion right now!

Olivia King and Scott Rose are back bringing their A+++ game to their narration. Their performances capture the fiery, slow-burn tension and deep emotional bond between these two seamlessly, making every interactive exchange hit effortlessly.

Huge thank you to Duet Narration Audiobook Club and author Heather Renee for this listening copy!

Some sequels feel like a bridge between the beginning and the finale… but Claws and Bonds felt like a storm I didn’t want to escape from.

I really enjoyed returning to this world. The story picks up with so much tension, and I loved how Rowan’s journey became even more emotional and intense. She is still sharp, stubborn and full of attitude, but in this book we also see a stronger, more powerful side of her. I loved watching her understand herself better and step into who she is meant to become.

And Cade? His devotion, protectiveness and quiet determination completely won me over. The connection between Rowan and Cade had such a good mix of longing, danger and slow-burn tension. I also adored the found family moments, the magic, the twists, and of course Archie, who deserves his own fan club at this point.

This was such an addictive sequel with romance, mystery, shifters, magic, emotional moments and a cliffhanger that made me desperate for book three.

Rowan’s quips were hilarious even when she was kidnapped. Oh, that’s correct, the book one ended this way, but the second book starts with all the reasons Rowan will grow in her powers and how she will realise everything about her and her connection.

The audiobook was good, and the progress of the story kept me hooked. It was a fast read and gave me, mostly, all the answers I needed to understand it better. Now I have new questions, and I cannot wait to read/listen to the final book of this trilogy.

Cade was again a sweetheart with how understanding he is, and I adore Rowan and her intelligence. She’s a great combo of a fierce fmc and a very humble fmc. I loved all the side characters. And, I need their stories too. But, I don’t know if we’ll get any. Still, I am happy with how this story is moving ahead.

Book 1 was great and had one heck of an ending, now book 2 has continued the adventure.

The book picks up right where the last one ended. Rowan is a prisoner and her family is fighting to find her. The snarky attitude is still there but Rowan’s messy attitude and emotional turmoil is finally put to rest when she accepts and starts to understand who she truly is and where she belongs.

I also enjoyed the new characters and the set up for the big finale. Cade is still as broody as ever and Rowan’s grandmother is a trip.

This book was really all about Rowan’s journey and leaves you ready for book 3, to see what she can do in the final fight against evil!

As an audiobook, this was one of my favorites. Olivia King and Scott Rose put on a fantastic performance and truly brought the characters to life.

Is Ashmark a family name or does it indicate something else? Malrik Vane could put an Army drill sergeant to shame with his training methods. He doesn’t seem to have any redeeming qualities so far but his motives aren’t clear either.

He bullies Rowan into discovering how to use her magic. Spoiler alert: This backfires big time. His castle is another sentient building whose loyalty becomes questionable.

Cade, Liz and Elias are searching for Rowan but keep encountering misdirection spells. The castle seemingly helps Rowan escape and she encounters someone from her past before reuniting with Cade and the other two.

Malrik’s instruction proves to have been successful and Rowan discovers her reason for being. Malrik hasn’t tossed in the towel, however, and discloses a bombshell piece of news.

There’s so much to unpack with this story as we navigate Rowan’s new life and the mysteries around her powers. Cade and Rowan’s bond grows stronger. Lost family is found and family ties blossom. I liked the way the story progressed as new secrets were revealed and new threats uncovered.

Rowan has strength and resilience and uncovers more of her powers from her would be kidnapper. Cade steps into his role as alpha like he was always meant to be there. Together these two are a force to be reckoned with. This is definitely low on the romance and a very slow burn but we do get to see Rowan and Cade’s connection grow and blossom.

Of course Heather leaves us with another cliffhanger and more questions unanswered. I can’t wait for the final installment.

What a wild journey! 🤯🙃

Fantastic book with a lot of twists and turns and shocking revelations, like that cliffy 🫣🤯
Rowan growth is so good to read about, she now knows more about the supernatural world and about herself and her place and importance in all that is about to happen; she's more confident and determined and willing to fight for her family and her packs. 💪🏻💅🏻
Cade is struggling between his need to protect her and let her play the rol she needs to in the battle to come, but he trusts her and knows she is strong enough to do what is needed 🫠🤗🥰
Love Archie and the rest of her gang and can't wait to know what will happen in the next and final book; it's going to be epic! ❤️‍🔥

The way I flew through this book and now I have to wait until book 3!!!! Ugh!!!

What I loved about it - CHOICES and not running head first into a physical relationship just because they are fated mates! And the character growth! Holy smokes!

My girl Rowan goes through some STUFF in this book and I love how she learns about herself and rises above all the trauma and comes out stronger for it.

And my man, Cade! Wow! Talk about touch-her-and-💀, will literally tear the world apart to get her back, all the protective Alpha vibes.

The respect these two have for each other is #CoupleGoals. I love this slowburn romance and think it’s so perfect for the characters Heather has written.

Highly Recommend!

Oh my word, Heather Renee never disappoints! This book kept me on such an emotional rollercoaster.

I loved Rowans interactions with the a new sentient Castle/ House. It had me giggling as she kept up her chats. The magical growth that she under goes just shoes how strong her character is. I was left shocked at what her power means and if in the wrong hands, it can be so destructive to those in the supernatural world.

The slow burn between Rowan and Cade just makes u know that they are in for an epic / explosive relationship. Team RoCa for sure!

But that ending.....just when we think our favourite characters can relax for a moment, left me with me stunned! And now I have to wait for book 3! There is some explaining that needs to happen Iris....and Malrik.....p

Omg, Heather!! I am absolutely in LOVE with Cade and Rowan. Cade’s absolute need to protect his mate and Rowan’s ‘look I got this’ attitude just has me over here in shifter heaven. Rowan has had to deal with and learn so much in such a short amount of time but takes it all in like the boss she is! Archie can come snuggle me ANY time!!

The side characters are so well written that you forget that they aren’t MC’s. I absolutely love this. The way that Heather describes feelings and situations isn’t over written or over described, it’s perfect and makes you feel what the characters are feeling.

I absolutely cannot wait for the last installment!

I loved Claws and Bonds! After the cliffhanger in book 1, I couldn't wait to jump in. I don't want to give anything away so I'll just say it's good. Really really good.

I received an early copy of the audio. It is very very well done. The voices remain consistent throughout, Olivia performs Rowyn's voice in Cade's chapters and Scott as Cade in Rowyn's. Iris sounds the same as well as other characters so you're never trying to guess who is speaking or struggle to follow along. Olivia and Scott are so talented it was like a full cast. I love Archie and his accent!

I highly recommend The Ashmark series

Book 2 did not disappoint! You are introduced to the Villian of this story Malrik. Oh you will dislike this guy so much! In the book Rowan learns more about herself and her power. Not necessarily in the easiest of ways. She learns that she decides which way the prophecy will go. She accepts Cade as her mate and stands by him unerringly. Cade is finally ready to step up into his role as an Alpha. Leading the council in a new better way. You will meet a couple of new characters and one took me by surprise as I believe it will you as well. Once again we are left with a might cliffhanger but it is sooooooo good. Can't wait for the third and final book!!

I really enjoyed this sequel, maybe even more than the first one. The world building expanded as did the cast of characters. It ups the stakes with a new villainous character and sentient castle that’s keeping Rowan captive. Rowan and Cade really needed the time apart to understand they were choosing each other rather than the bond brining them together. I loved Rowan’s growth, really coming into her self and her power, finding her place amongst this new world. I also appreciated that she didn’t wait for anyone to come save her and found her own way. I had my suspicions about the fate of a certain character and now I’m so eager for the final book! Thanks to the author for the review copy.

Claws and Bonds by Heather Renee audiobook review.
This is book 2 of the Ashmark series.

I was not sure how I felt about where the story was going at the beginning of this book. Then Rowan figured out who she was meant to be. I love how she started using her brain and stopped letting fear take over. The plot took a couple twists, and the ending was definitely a "ugh why did you do this to us" cliff hanger. I'm excited to see what happens in book 3.

In this series you will find:
Wolf shifers 🐺
Magic 🪄
Found family
Banter
Snarky FMC
Broody MMC
Fated mates
Funny ferret familiar

The narrators continue to do a great job giving all these characters life. It is performed in duet style.

I want to thank the author and Duet Narration Audiobook Book Club for my copy!
