Another beautifully illustrated and very helpful book to add to your art and creative book collection. As a life long artist I have used this book for instructions and guidance, as well as inspiration. I love to doodle til my heart's content. Great mental health therapy tool! 🌻
The cover looks great, that is all that is to be said about this sad and thin book. Pages flimsy and all is black and white. What is inside ? Not much, the title does give hope but when you open this book all hope is gone. There is information about zentangle, some basics about how to draw a zentangle....very basic. This isn't a book for a zentangle beginner, it's more a reference book but for reference you can find everything what is in this book on internet.
I like the pictures, but for the subject matter, there was surprisingly little of them. I was vaguely interested in learning until I discovered that the book was about as impersonal as a school textbook. I was not persuaded to be interested in this art form as a result, but for someone who already has an interest in it might find this book to be a handy reference.
What a poor quality book. Images are blurry and very little instruction on doodles to try. Just glad I got it for free on kindle u limited. There are better sources out there for zendoodling.
I would have liked many more completed examples of pictures plus larger diagrams of different doodle patterns. This book was more strategy then actual results.
I discovered this by accident and I'm eager to try this type of drawing. This explained a little bit about what it is, but I think it was somehow lacking for Beginners, as I needed to go to the internet to figure out what this was about and what I found out was that some of the information in the books is wrong. For example, the "real" Zentangle only uses black ink on white paper. It is not meant to be structured, but completely unstructured and abstract. The whole "string" thing seems to be misinterpreted. I also found that there are "accepted" patterns that you're supposed to practice (although if it's unstructured and abstract, it somehow makes me think these patterns are for the "certified teachers" to teach you. I don't get it, but I'm going to follow the rules (which aren't really rules) and try doing things on my own and see where I get.
This book offers some background history, helpful basic instructions, and links/ideas for projects. The reader is given a list of tools to enable them to begin this interesting art form. This book is a quick read, yet can be quite helpful for the newcomer to Zentangle.
This book gives some good basic information, but for such a short book, there is a lot of fluff. The author repeatedly recommends going to online sources like Pinterest, YouTube, and Facebook for help. The book does not seem to have had a professional editor.
I have to admit I was hoping for more pictures, but was pleasantly surprised at how helpful this book was. As an introductory book I got more than my money's worth!
Useless content. You're better off searching google and YouTube. Can't remember if this book was free or a dollar, but anyway it a waste of time. Bad read.
Repetitious and a couple of editing errors but still, McAdams inspires you to go for it. Not so much a sampler or tutorial but just touches on the basics.
