This bowled me over!! Get it? get it? It's a strike!! XXX
No but I Really did enjoy this thoroughly. As someone who used to bowl/was on a league, I loved the setting. It was so nostalgic for me. Makes me want to run to my nearest alley. I loved the chemistry between Ezra and Truett. It was a really well-rounded, thought out story, and I liked the emotional pull and drama presented.
I'm sad it's over. 😢

Right Up His Alley is a very, wholesome, very small town and family orientated, MM romance about young guys who just want to find themselves and travel a path that wasn't laid out for them with obligations and the need to make everyone around them proud. When they meet, there's a mutual understanding and the need to hold each other accountable to at least try at the life they both want. There's lots of hurdles and some lessons to learn, but they get there eventually. This book was a refreshing take on sports romance for me, because I've never read a professional bowler romance before, it was fantastic to learn a few things, while getting to know the characters and how much bowling can mean to professionals. It had a lovely storyline, which was well written, I had a lot of fun reading it. Truett had big golden retriever puppy energy which I love, he had such a presence that radiated off the page while Ezra was more black cat, more morose, a hot temper, but felt deeply and loved hard! I could totally relate to Exra sooo much. Thank you so much for giving me the opportunity to read your book early! I loved it!

Moved to tears within a few minutes of reading— I knew this book was going to be something really special. Emotionally engaging and beautiful.
The way I adored every second of this book. It was such a cosy, warm read. There is a lot of heart to be found here— rooted by home and family while treading your own path— it really feels like a story about where you've come from and where you want to be, a story about staying true to who you are amidst all the noise and pressures. Deeply moving.
The grumpy/sunshine dynamic pulled me straight in, there's an instant chemistry between Ezra and Truett that is utterly absorbing. But it would be unfair to reduce these characters to just a simple dynamic because they are beautifully complex and layered.
What grows between them is a joy to read.
I felt really emotionally connected to Ezra’s journey in particular. There was a lingering, unfinished kind of grief to a life cut short by illness that really resonated.
I never expected to feel such intense and complex feelings about a fictional bowling alley, but here we are.
If you like heartwarming romance that feels like coming home—cosy and nostalgic— then bump this up your tbr list. It's well worth it.

The has all the components for a sweet, lighthearted love story. Ezra is in a rut, he’s been left running his family’s run down bowling alley after his father’s death. He’d rather be anywhere else, but particularly dreams of becoming a tattoo apprentice and eventually setting up his own shop. Truett is a professional bowler who has fallen out of love with the sport, is struggling with the pressure his father puts on him and is looking for something else in his life. They decide to work together to get the alley ready for the USBC championship which will bring in some much needed money for Ezra.
I was expecting lots of cute renovation moments, connections building over late nights of hard work and an eventual, inevitable magnetic pull to each other. Instead it was almost instant physical attraction, lots of boring worry about the USBC regulations (which I’m sorry but I just could not take seriously) and some rather clunky sex scenes. Ezra and Truett are both very likeable throughout but they read a lot younger than their actual ages with how bad they are at dealing with their emotions and how they let themselves be dominated by parental expectations.
Mostly the writing style in this just really didn’t work for me, it’s highly repetitive at times and it needed at least one more round of editing to fix this and lots of little plot points where it just didn’t make sense. I really felt the complete lack of any decently fleshed out side characters who could have added a lot more depth to this story, almost the only female characters in this are their mothers.

Spice Quality: 4/5 - The spice is good. It's passionate and filled with emotion from the slow build up of their relationship.
Plot: 5/5 -
- Storyline: The storyline is cozy and character driven. Both MCs are dealing with expectations from their families and trying to figure out who they are and who they want to be. This is exacerbated by their developing feelings for each other, financial pressures, and the stress of the upcoming decision on which alley will be hosting the championship.
- Characters: What this book lacks in spice and adventure, it makes up for well developed characters. Both Ezra and Tate have internal battles to face and I loved watching them slowly grow towards who they want to be. They also bring out the best in each other, and I absolutely adored a line from Tate that said something along the lines of: "I love who I am when I'm with you." I felt like that was such an adult way of feeling about a relationship and showed how far he'd really grown throughout the book.
- Writing Style: It was really great. It flowed nice for me, contained a lot of emotion, and was done in a really smart way. I particularly liked the bowling metaphors and nods. It felt very intentional and I loved spotting them throughout the story.
Conclusion: This is a sweet and cozy Romance that is sure to spark nostalgia if you grew up bowling. And if you didn't? You'll still love the heart and soul of the book.

I really enjoyed the book. I liked the bowling aspect. (That was new for me) Both MCs struggled with family obligations and following their dreams.
It was a little on the slow side but not a slow burn.

An issue I had was Ezra and his family kept thanking True for all the help he never gave. (on page anyways or even desceibed in past tense. He took Ezra to buy paint but didnt paint. He went behind Erza's back to buy the furniture for the alley(with Ezra's money) but he didn’t install it.
I was a little upset about that though. True ghosted Erza for 2 days after True give him a bj. During that time True was working with Ezra's mom behind his back. They were spending the money Ezra's family gave HIM for fix up the bowling alley. It was a nice gesture but also not.
"The silence over the last two days has planted a seed of doubt in my mind, poisoning the memory of what we did on Saturday. Did he regret it? Was he now trying to pull back and keep his distance? He promised to see me Monday, right after he kissed me in front of my family. I don’t have any reason to believe he would lie, and yet my stomach still churns anxiously."

“So, remember when your mom pulled me aside at the party, and we wouldn’t tell you what we were talking about?” Truett asks, his cheeks blooming red as if he’s suddenly unsure what he’s going to say. “Well, she didn’t trust that you wouldn’t use the money to get ahead on the mortgage.”
“That is—” The anger that quickly washes over me vanishes. “Actually, that’s pretty accurate.” The thought hadn’t crossed my mind, but now that he says it…
“Yeah, so she wanted me to make sure you didn’t use the check for that. I added a few extra dollars and put the order in my name.”
“So, she wants you to babysit my money and tell me how to spend it?” I ask, deadpan, not sure how I feel about that.
Truett’s eyes widen, his cheeks growing a deeper shade of red. “No! No, that’s not it at all. She wanted me to…” He struggles to find the right words. Soon, defeated, his shoulders slump. “Actually, yeah. That’s exactly what she wanted me to do. I’m sorry, I know I should have asked you. I thought it would help take some of the stress off you. Are you mad?”

Such a cute and fun read. I love a small town story, throw in a bowling alley, a (wanna be) tattoo artist, and a bowling champion, then you've got me hooked.

Did I think I would enjoy a book about bowling? No! Did I think I would cry over a book about bowling? Also no! LOL this was so good! We have Ezra who’s managing his dads bowling alley after his dad passed away and Truitt a professional bowler who’s home from a tour and when he visits his old bowling alley he finds out that his mentor when he was a kid has passed and his son is running it now! Their first meeting is prickly lol Ezra really wants to be a tattoo artist but he feels an obligation to his family to take care of the alley
Truitt is trying to escape his real dad so when the committee for the bowling league shows up saying his dad put in an application for them to host the national championships Ezra is shocked and Truitt offers his help to spruce things up! The thing is Truitt if he’s competing in the nationals he can’t be around the alley and he lets Ezra know how special the alley and his dad were to him so he won’t compete! The thing is Truitts dad is very very strict about his bowling his diet so he won’t take this very well but he wants to help Ezra! Their connection started off prickly but their friendship and relationship heats up quickly with them flirting non stop!
I liked their emotional connection they were able to talk to each other about their fears and what they want out of life!
This has some angst too! Especially when Ezra has to use his tattoo savings to help out with the mortgage! Truitt has to try and balance helping Ezra and listening to his dad about his bowling career! This has spice emotion everything and saving each other and choosing each other and their own futures!
Fav Quotes
The idea of impressing the USBC representatives and helping change the trajectory of this bowling alley, similar to how Mr. Jiménez helped me, hits me as soon as the suits come closer. All the positive memories I’ve ever had in this bowling alley flood my head in less time than it takes for me to shout, “Ezra, you’ve got some guests!”
I think it might benefit you to make a little more spare time for Spare Time, if you catch my drift?”
Like Ezra said, it has the chance to be something bigger. I’ve had chances like this my whole life. Why shouldn’t Spare Time get one now? Why not Ezra?

“You got this, Ezzie,” he says, his voice quieter now. “My dad called me Ezzie when he started teaching me how to bowl,” I blurt. “No one else has called me that since he died. It took me off guard.”
“For once in your life, Ezzie, I need you to do what is not expected of you. Live a little.”

I hate myself for feeling this way. It’s the first time in a long time I’ve had hope for something. Allowing myself to be fucking happy.
getting to know Ezra’s family, eating the kind of food people actually fight over, and the easy way everyone folds me into conversations like I’ve always been here. It’s strange, though. I keep waiting to get something wrong—be told to mind my own business, say the wrong thing, or forget I don’t belong here. No one in my life has ever passed plates around like this, bumping shoulders, debating over who makes the better sauce like it’s a joke instead of a one-up or a less-than-humble brag. It’s always been about perfection, business, and competition with the Thornes.
“Shh, baby. I want to make you 😱 , but you need to be quiet for me.” Realization dawns, and an adorable flush colors his cheek. He nods once, telling me he understands. “Good boy,”
It doesn’t matter what number is written across the check Tía Lucia holds. What matters is that Ezra’s family—both his mom’s side and his dad’s—came together for Spare Time.
“Sorry to burden you with it all. I just wish my dad would be there to cheer me on, you know? I feel like I’d do better with a little bit of encouragement. Who wouldn’t, right?”
And then I see Ezra. What the… There he is. Standing slightly apart from the crowd, shifting his weight from foot to foot like he’s not sure he belongs
“I can’t believe you’re here.” I’m breathless as I drop my hands to my side, realizing just how risky it is to be so affectionate with him at this moment. Representatives from the USBC could literally be watching us right now. “What made you drive all this way?”
“You’ve done so much for me, True. I wanted to be there when you needed me too. I know we’ve discussed you not competing for the good of Spare Time, but this is your life. You should be able to compete when you want. On your terms. When you told me yesterday about competing, I saw something in you. You wanted to be here. I don’t want to be the person who holds you back from doing something you want to do
“That guy… the one you were flinging around like a rag doll a little bit ago…” He pauses as if carefully considering his next words. “Is he going to be a distraction come time for the USBC Championship?” I hesitate at first, but then a flicker of mischief warms my face. “Maybe.”
seeing Truett in his element—all those years of dedicated practice—truly was remarkable to see. My True isn’t just good. He’s a fucking star.
“You’ve been showing up for me in a lot of ways, Tru. I wanted to be here for you. Though, I can’t say I did it for entirely noble reasons,” I admit.
“I wanted to see my… you,”“Your what? What were you going to say, Ezra?”“I selfishly wanted to come here and see my boyfriend play. “Boyfriend?” He says the word like he’s appreciating a fine wine, then licks his lips. “Boyfriend.” “Hmm.” I frown. “That’s it? That’s all you have to say?” Disappointment colors my features. “For someone who has something to say about everything, you are certainly quiet about this. If you don’t want that, then just tell me. I’m not a—” “Ezra,” he cuts me off, eyes shining with mirth. “What?” I snap. “You’re an idiot.” And then he kisses me again.
“I’ve been your boyfriend for a while now, Ezzie. I’m glad you are finally caught up to date.” He chuckles, stunning me. I don’t get to ask him exactly what he means though, because he speaks again. “Seeing you at my match today is the first time I have had anyone there supporting me.” “Your parents—” “It’s not the support I needed,” he cuts in. “My father lives vicariously through me. I’m little more than an investment to him.”
“So, unfortunately, Ezra, no one’s really ever been there for me in the way I needed.” His gaze settles on me. “But you were. You are.” A gentle thump stirs in my chest. “And because of that, I’m winning—and for the first time, it actually feels good. I feel more alive than I have in a long time.” His mouth curves. “And I’m ready to celebrate my win properly.”
“You sure you want a bowling pin?” he asks. “I mean, you’re already a professional bowler. Do you really need a reminder of that?” I glance down at it, then back at him. “I don’t see it as a nod to being a pro,” I say. “It’s more like… honoring Spare Time. That’s where I figured out I love the sport. Where it all started for me. So yeah, I’m sure.”

Truitt is trying to escape his real dad so when the committee for the bowling league shows up saying his dad put in an application for them to host the national championships Ezra is shocked and Truitt offers his help to spruce things up! The thing is Truitt if he’s competing in the nationals he can’t be around the alley and he lets Ezra know how special the alley and his dad were to him so he won’t compete! The thing is Truitts dad is very very strict about his bowling his diet so he won’t take this very well but he wants to help Ezra! Their connection started off prickly but their friendship and relationship heats up quickly with them flirting non stop!
I liked their emotional connection they were able to talk to each other about their fears and what they want out of life!
This has some angst too! Especially when Ezra has to use his tattoo savings to help out with the mortgage! Truitt has to try and balance helping Ezra and listening to his dad about his bowling career! This has spice emotion everything and saving each other and choosing each other and their own futures!

If you have a competence k*nk, Truett's skill as a pro bowler will hit the spot. I never would have said any aspect of bowling was sexy, but here we are. True proved me wrong.
Right Up His Alley is ultimately a story of being seen, being loved, and being celebrated for who you are rather than for what you can do for others. It's a story that demonstrates when the right people love us, it can help us discover the best version of ourselves, if only we are brave enough to let that love in.
What's so beautiful about Ezra and Truett is that they really SEE each other. Being seen is vulnerable and scary, it can hurt and cut deep, but it can also set us free, particularly when we have someone in our corner who believes in us even when we stumble.
I loved Ezra and True's moms and the relationship that the two women form towards the end. I can so clearly imagine them scheming and cackling over cocktails, dreaming up ways to support their sons and seeing far more than their sons realize.
In Chapter 2, I immediately clocked that True's mom was in a horrible position doing emotional labor she never should have had to do - it's a great example of how abuse can hide in plain sight. (Explains the cocktails...)
I snickered multiple times over Ezra and Truett's female family members giving them sh*t and asking about the hottie in their lives. True's mom's masturb*t*on joke actually drew a snort from me. High five, mom.
One of my favorite scenes in the book were the emails that True and Ezra exchanged. Also, the tattoo. *sigh*
Overall, Right Up His Alley is a sweet, grumpy-meets-sunshine love story of healing, growth, and allowing love in. It's low spice, medium angst, and high on family (both chosen and blood).
My only real critique is that twice in one scene (the spicy scene, sadly) the book uses female-coded degradation language, and tries to downplay it the first time by saying something potentially offensive and then claiming "no offense!", which draws more attention to the choice than it deflects. It caused a little tightness in me, but it was small and didn't take away from the larger story which I really enjoyed.
I smile when I think about Ezra and True and how they brought out the best in each other. The support they offered each other to do really hard things warmed my heart. Their HEA was well-earned and satisfying.

Right Up His Alley is such a wholesome, thoughtful, and romantic book about two 23 year old men who are just trying to figure out how to balance their family’s expectations with their own goals. All while falling in love with the off-limits guy they can’t stop thinking about.
Ezra and Truell are both trying to navigate life as new adults and are learning how to voice their own wants and needs. I love the often quiet (but sometimes loud) support that they offered one another, from helping to pick out paint colours to showing up when it mattered the most.
I enjoyed the fact that both men had already a) realized their sexuality and b) came out. It was a refreshing choice for any type of sports romance, especially one set in small town Texas. While I enjoy stories that focus on self discovery and acceptance of who you are, it was a lovely change to have this romance completely focused on other issues. It serves as a good reminder that there are so many other ways to create drama and tension in queer romances. I loved that the focus was away from those pieces and instead on other topics, life grief, anxiety, mild eating disorders, and family expectations.
Ezra’s grief and anxiety were so poignant and beautifully written, as were the tender and sweet moments between Ezra and Truell. They managed to be both soft and heated, and I was loving it!

Did I sign up for this arc cause the cover was pretty and caught my eye, yes. Was I confident I would actually enjoy a book about bowling, nope I was not. Do I consider this my most surprising read for the month, damn straight I do!
I categorize Right Up His Alley as something I call realistic romance. Theres no fanciful story about mafia or monsters, no "I swear I'm straight" bi awakening storyline. It a simple story of two gay men, both dealing with the horrible pressures of expectations and family approval, while finding each other and falling in love. It is a very plausible story made richer by the relatability of each MMC. Dreams vs familial obligations. The inner war of living as one wants to or keeping up the facade. Both men struggle with this is different ways, but they both discover comfort peace together. Giving one another the strength to make the hard calls and have the tough conversations.
The only thing I didn't care for was the third act break up. The characters had solid communication before this, and it felt like just an easy way to create drama. Overall, I did enjoy the story, the spice was solid and the romance was endearing. If the idea of reading a romance about bowling is dissuading you from picking this one up, don't. It's more a romance that has bowling a plot device more than a book about bowling that as a romance. Plus, it's refreshing to read a different kind of sports romance that isn't hockey or football.

This was such a fun story! A spicy, grumpy/sunshine, M/M romance, Right Up His Alley has so much to love! Ezra is a bowling alley owner who really wants to be a tattoo artist and Truett is a professional bowler who is ready to stop living the life his father has pushed on him. The bowling alley that both Ezra and Truett grew up in has seen better days and is failing. A chance to revitalize the bowling alley to possibly host a bowling championship has the two teaming up to try to make it happen. There is so much emotional depth to these two characters, as they are both dealing with the expectations their family/fathers (and to some extent themselves) have set for them and are both feeling stifled by their lives. I really enjoyed these characters and the story from start to finish. The competitive atmosphere of the book helped propel the plot and really had me invested in the story to see how everything would play out.
For fans of sports romances who want something a little different. If you love forbidden romance and small town vibes, I highly recommend picking this one up!

Well I had high hopes with this one based off the tropes and blurb, but I feel like it fell a bit short.
I was wanting more of a build-up to their relationship, like cute renovation moments or building a connection over late nights of redoing the alley. I wanted to feel the pull, tension, magnetic force, but that wasn’t there.
I feel like the story was more focused on the USBC & professional bowling then the actual romance, even for the first 60% of the book the two MMC’s didn’t even spend that much time together besides a few moments (seemed that way to me).
I just feel like more could of been put into building their relationship instead of them meeting and then together (that’s how it seemed).
I did enjoy the characters for the most part although at times they read younger then what they are in the story.
I think the story would have been captivating if there was more of a build-up and also throw in some fun side characters.
All in all it wasn’t a horrible read as I gave it 3 stars, but it just fell a bit flat for me.

This book is so sweet and adorable, I can't even describe it. The way this book manages to combine the intimacy of falling in love and the weight of expectations placed on our main characters by their families is really spectacular. I also really enjoyed the fact that both MC's families are supportive of them and their sexualities. In fact, there are very few to none references to homophobia, which makes it cutesie and accessible.
The main characters are really nicely written, their chemistry is unmatched, and they complement each other immeasurably. While Ezra at first glance comes off as the broody grumpy tattooed badass, he completely melts for Truett, and vice versa—Truett, who's introduced as the sunshine sweetheart himbo-esque jock eventually turns out to be the more dominant personality in their relationship. I really enjoyed their mutual dynamic.
Overall, I really enjoyed this book, and would like to thank Flying Pig PR and the authors for the eARC of it!

New to me authors have been so good this year! Right Up His Alley was a sweet, witty, and thoughtful MM romance that I truly enjoyed!
Erza and Truett though different in their hopes and dreams make a beautiful pair that roll through family pressure and expections and searching for who they are truly meant to be. They slowly discover these answers together and each of their struggles feel relatable personally (especially as an eldest daughter).
This novel gives enough plot and spice. I think both characters are great and give grumpy family focused artist meets pressured sunshine pro-bowler. Truly even with family tragedy and conflict, nothing could have stopped relationship between Ezra and Truett.
If you like a swicy (sweet and spice) sports romance, this is for you. It is truly an adorable and small town touch makes the setting and characters even better because sometimes the greatest dream and love has always been there. Maybe even in the (bowling) alley right up the road.
I’m glad I got to read this as an ARC and will be reading more from Bradley James and Anastasia Dean!
Erza and Truett though different in their hopes and dreams make a beautiful pair that roll through family pressure and expections and searching for who they are truly meant to be. They slowly discover these answers together and each of their struggles feel relatable personally (especially as an eldest daughter).
This novel gives enough plot and spice. I think both characters are great and give grumpy family focused artist meets pressured sunshine pro-bowler. Truly even with family tragedy and conflict, nothing could have stopped relationship between Ezra and Truett.
If you like a swicy (sweet and spice) sports romance, this is for you. It is truly an adorable and small town touch makes the setting and characters even better because sometimes the greatest dream and love has always been there. Maybe even in the (bowling) alley right up the road.
I’m glad I got to read this as an ARC and will be reading more from Bradley James and Anastasia Dean!

It is very repetitive and way too much inner dialogue. I skimmed the majority of it. I agree with another reviewer that said this needed better editing.
And the “rules” of this USBC tournament shit was dumb.
I also hate overbearing parents who control every aspect of their adult child’s life and the said adult child not standing up for themselves! It’s seriously in almost all MM books and frankly I’m just fucking sick of it. Grow some balls! This dad even controls what his adult kid eats. BFFR! Earth to Truett, you’re 23 years fucking old! Your father can’t “force” you to do shit!

This was a cute and classic grumpy/sunshine romance, I really enjoyed seeing Ezra and Truett fall in love. While I am not a fan of third act breakups, the breakup in this book was not what I expected it to be based on the events early in the book and it was a welcome surprise. The way they portrayed the grief and other mental health issues was refreshing, although I wish that there was a little more closure on that front. You'll love this book if you're a fan of thrilling spicy scenes, lots of laughable moments and plenty of romance and emotion with a definite HEA.

I liked reading a book set in the area where I live. This sports romance being about bowling was fun because I learned new things about bowling that I never would have otherwise. I really enjoyed Ezra’s story. His family and experiences rang so true in suburban Texas. I didn’t dislike Truett, but being from Texas we all knew a Truett, and generally didn’t like him, which is more the fault of his upbringing than the actual person and it was refreshing that Truett knew he didn’t want to be like his parents, yet was still figuring himself out.

This is a lovely, palate cleanser MM sports romance.
This was my first time reading a bowling book and happy to say I don't know any more about bowling than when I started - the perfect romance 🤣
I loved the grumpy/sunshine balance between Ezra and Truett and how they both challenged and encouraged each other to follow their happiness, not just what is expected of them.
I enjoyed the found family element and everyone pulling together to support each other. I was also very glad when that family stopped interrupting Ezra and Truett 🤣
Would very much recommend as an easy romance read.

This is the sweet, yet challenging, love story of Ezra and Truett.
Ezra’s father had owned Spare Time, the family bowling alley in Pflugerville, Tx, since Ezra was a young boy; it was his pride and joy. And when he died, he left the alley in the care of Ezra, who had artistic dreams that he felt he had to put on hold to carry out his father’s legacy. But the alley is falling apart and the clients have stopped showing up since his dad passed, so every day is a chore of trying to keep Spare Time afloat.
When Truett was a boy, he used to bowl at Spare Time. Ezra’s dad had been a great instructor and mentor to him as he got better and better at his sport. Truett's father however, was very demanding, a former bowling superstar himself who was now living his dream a second time through his son. And it all worked, because Truett was now a national champion bowler.
Though Truett and Ezra had seen each other back in the day, they never got to know one another.
Then one day Truett’s dad sent him to Spare Time to scout it out for a potential national competition. When Truett and Ezra met, Ezra was jaded and grumpy, but Truett couldn’t help but notice how handsome he was, and how sad it was that Spare Time was now falling apart. So he offered to help Ezra fix the place up for the inspection that might lead to the competition being at Spare Time, which would bring money and clients Ezra desperately needed to the alley.
But that created a conflict of interest should Spare Time be chosen: Truett being a competitor might make it look like he was trying to sway the judges to use that alley.
As time goes on, the guys fall for each other and Truett has to make a decision: his father is insisting he compete, so should he still be helping Ezra with the alley upgrades? And what if a judge finds out that they are seeing each other? The loss of the competition would take valuable funds and attention from the alley that Ezra desperately needs. And will Ezra risk his family’s legacy to "selfishly" fall into a relationship with Truett?
I LOVED this book. The problems Truett and Ezra had to overcome were very real, as was the desire to protect the one they were falling in love with. And then there was the family: Ezra’s and Truett’s moms were a delight and had me giggling, especially when they were together (scheming to keep the boys together through tough times).
This is a 5/5 book for me all the way.

I didn’t realize until well into the book just how similar Ezra and Truett are, even though their personalities are total opposites. Both young, smothered by parental expectations, both feel stuck and uncertain about their future; their legacy is their burden. They only know that what they have right now is not what they want. Tru is seeking something meaningful, not just a career he was pushed to do, as much as he loves bowling. Ezra dreams of putting his art on people’s skin, but he can't break his mother’s heart by abandoning the family’s struggling bowling alley. When the next championship brings them together, and their chemistry ignites passion and insta-lust, it’s pushing them to be brave and fight for what they want. As much as both of their families claimed they loved the boys, I had major problems with them. Truett’s overcontrolling dad seemed like the villain of the story for the most part; his mom's silence and drinking problem didn’t endear her to me either. The lack of communication from Ezra’s mom was inexcusable. We learn as much about bowling as anyone can while not being a professional; I’m sure it brings nostalgic feelings to many readers. While I liked both main characters, I wish the development of their relationship played a bigger role in the book, instead of the million things they had to fix or the constant interruption from everyone in their circle. Overall, this was a fun, quick read without any major angst that ends with a sweet HEA.

I loved the grumpy x sunshine dynamic between Ezra and Truett so much! Truett’s puppy-dog energy was adorable, while Ezra being the grumpy loner who is trying to figure out what he actually wants made for a really fun contrast. Plus, I ate up the banter and chemistry between them! & then throw in the forbidden romance that aspect added just the right amount of tension, and I was sold.
Overall, this was such a fun queer sports romance, and now I can officially say I’m invested in bowling romances 😂
