I met him over five years ago, when I was still going to the University of Tennessee. I was on spring break and having drinks at a local bar called Havens at home in Huntsville. That was the exact moment when my path collided with Jamieson Wellington and my life was forever changed. He was unlike anyone I had ever met before. I knew I would never be able to forget him after that night, nor did I want to. But unfortunately for us, fate was not kind.
Now as I sit on this airplane about to leave for my bachelorette party in Las Vegas, I look up to lock eyes with the one person who continuously haunts me, day and night. I fight back a sick feeling in my gut, knowing my life has just forced me to a crossroads. I feel the static electricity in the air between us and I know I’m not strong enough to resist him. I never have been, but this time I have so much more to lose. This time Jamieson may just ruin me completely.

I was super excited upon reading the first few chapters. They were great, I thought the story is, yep cliche but, interesting. Sadly, I was let down up until the end. The h keeps on forgiving the H who's ALWAYS lying to her. I mean, come on! I know you love her but why keep lying? Uh-uh, not once but multiple times. That's gotta be final nail in the coffin. But no, the h forgives him and then bom pow HEA. In addition, the story was predictable, including the H's reasons for lying. Seriously. This could have been a better story if: 1. Cain is not a douche. 2. Aubrey and Olivia aren't partnered with Derrick and Julian. 3. Jacks' husband didn't die.

Five years ago Jenna and Jameison were in a relationship and things were going well between them until Jenna mentioned “I love you” after the best sex of her life. After that she pretty much never saw Jameison again…unless you count that time when she opened his bedroom door and was greeted with a double surprise. Jameison was running his family’s whiskey company and was informed that Jenna was a distraction. Besides wanting Jenna out of the picture, they had another plan for him and Jameison was their puppet.
Jenna moved on from the pain of that past and is now a lawyer. Jenna is on the airplane to Vegas for her bachelorette party when she meets eyes with the man she never dreamt she would see again.
What are the chances that the one that got away, or in my case the one that ran away, ends up crashing my bachelorette party?
And what a party it turns out to be! The next morning is not as good as the night before because then there are all these questions…”what happened” or “what did we do?” that tend to put a damper on the festivities. Never mind the fact that you are going to have to go home and face reality.
It is incredibly painful watching someone you love digest the fact that you have betrayed them.
Jenna’s fiancée is a real douchebag. If he were a pimple, I would pop him. Unfortunately he comes from a well-to-do family and has large political aspirations so Jenna’s actions do not sit well with him. His family also has a lot of clout and this makes things very difficult for Jenna’s daily living.
Jameison on the other hand, is trying to make things right. He may have made a colossal mistake 5 years ago, but he is attempting to own up to that and make certain that Jenna knows the truth behind his running away. Yes he handled things very poorly 5 years ago, but he is really trying. I am cheering for him 100% to get his girl back.
"I know I am the one that destroyed everything. I get that, but it doesn’t mean I haven’t regretted it every day since."
I am such a sucker for these stories that have an ugly breakup only to find themselves still in love with one another. The story is told in present with flashbacks to the past so unfortunately we don’t get the completed back story until much later in the book. There are several hold-your-breath angst moments and I crave those like my next diet coke. Secondary characters will be featured in an upcoming installment and I look forward to reading more of this author’s work.
Lovely Distraction is the story of Jenna and Jamieson. When we are first introduced to the pair, Jenna is on her way to Las Vegas for her last hurrah before her wedding. However, as we all know what happens in Vegas doesn't always stay in Vegas.
Jenna and Jamieson have a tortured and tormented past - he is the man that left her devastated and heartbroken, and unable to find a man that will ever measure up. She has finally moved on with her life and is on the cusp of marrying Cain, when Jamieson intervenes. A drunken night in Vegas results in a night that Jenna cannot remember. Although the damage has already been done, Jenna flees home to the sanctuary of her friends and family.
As truths of the past begin to surface, Jenna realises that not everything between her and Jamieson was as it seemed. Jamieson desperately wants to rekindle the romance with Jenna, but will it be a case of too little too late. Will Jenna be able to finally put the past behind her and move on - and will she do it with or without Jamieson?
I freaking LOVED this book. I have been an avid fan of J.J. Dorn since the release of her first book, and I can honestly say, each book shows growth in such leaps and bounds - it is truly amazing. I loved these characters, I loved the secondary characters - and I loved the fact that we were kept constantly guessing with regards to the story line.
Jamieson is the epitome of what all of us want in a man - he is successful, charming, easy on the eyes and a freak in the sheets. The relationship that he has with Jenna is tumultuous at best (for reasons that you will discover throughout the book). He is someone that sacrifices himself for his family and as a result of that he loses the one thing that held more value to him than any riches. We get to see his torment and his pain - and it is a palpable, living thing.
When we meet Jenna, one of the things that I really related to about her, is that she is just your average girl - she has hang ups as we all do, about not being enough. Her world is turned upside down by Jamieson who makes her feel like she is the most beautiful girl in the world. However, Jenna's heart is left tattered and torn by the relationship she has with Jamieson and we see her struggle to rebuild herself, and we see her comparing every man to the incomparable Jamieson. Although, Jenna was knocked down, she certainly wasn't out - and I loved her tenacity and strength of will. There were times that I wanted to just take her aside and ask "What are you doing - leave him alone now?" but that is what I loved about this book - it stirred up really strong emotions within me.
I also loved the secondary characters in this book - we get to meet Jenna's family, who are beloved. They are close knit and watch a lot of trashy television, this will make you laugh out loud.
We also meet the inner circle of friends - and I swear, I fell in love with Julian as soon as I started reading. Jenna's girlfriends are her rock - and I really love the relationship between three strong women, building one another up as opposed to breaking each other down.
Finally, we have Ethan, Jamieson's older brother... SWOON! He is mine - and I am putting my dibs out now even before his book is released. His character is devastating, in the best possible way - I cannot wait to read more about him.
This book switches between the past and the present, but it is done in a really skilful and well written way - there is no confusion and the flow is seamless.
I am giving this book 4.5 magnificent stars - I am a HUGE fan J.J. Dorn and you continue to make my reading heart incredibly happy.
This is the third book I have read by J.J. Dorn, and as with all the others, I loved it! It’s a sexy romance, it tugs at your emotions, with a dash of mystery thrown in. I started it in the morning and had finished by mid-afternoon.
What does a girl do when she wakes up in Vegas married to the man who obliterated her heart years ago, and she doesn’t remember her wedding? Oh…wait…drumroll…she is also engaged to marry another man. This is the disaster Jenna is facing after spending the night for a bachelorette’s weekend with her best friends. Backing up a few years, Jenna and Jamieson have felt an irresistible, magnetic pull since their first meeting years before. However, Jamieson completely smashed Jenna’s heart into a thousand pieces one night years before. She never thought she would find happiness again. Her heart hasn’t healed completely, but being with her fiancé, Cain, helped her learned to live again. She knows she will never share the same passion with Cain that she did with Jamieson, but she knows what danger that kind of passion holds. She convinces herself that she is okay with that, but her heart may not be so sure. People and situations are not what they seem in this book. Secrets hide around every corner which makes this book soooo addictive.
There’s no denying that Jenna and Jamieson have chemistry. I loved Jenna. She is everything I would want and love in my best friend or sister. I felt so connected to her that I fell for Jamieson right along with her, and my heart broke right along with her too! He has a long way to go in proving himself to us. Her road to her happily ever after is one full of twists, turns, secrets, betrayal, steam, and romance…but who ends up being the knight in shining armor she deserves? The book had some minor editing issues, but it did not take away from the story at all!!!!! I warn you when you start, you won’t be able to put it down. I can’t wait until her upcoming books. Her sister, Jacks, gets her own story which I can’t wait to delve into. Simply put, this book was a “lovely distraction” from reality.

This was a really great book. Jenna is going to Vegas for her Bachelorette party. She was getting married to a guy she met in Law School and her two best friends were taking her to Vegas for a last hoorah. Of course on the flight to Vegas is the guy that broke Jenna's heart - Jamieson Wellington. After a night out in Vegas and drinking alot, she wakes up in bed with Jamieson and has a different engagement ring and a wedding ring on her finger.
Jenna is a really great girl who believes in honesty and facing the consequences for mistakes she makes. Years ago she was so fully and completely in love with Jamieson. His betrayal about broke her and she put all of her energy and time into school. She meets Cain in law school, they've dated for years, and then got engaged. She doesn't really see what type of person her fiance is until it is too late and finds out that he is a complete jerk who continuously cheats on her. Jenna has a close family and she helps out her sister at times on the farm with training the horses.
Jamieson is a great guy but he let his Uncle and the business ruin his relationship with Jenna. He truly loved her and was serious about her but the pressure from the business and the money ruined it. He made bad decisions and did his best to do the right thing for everyone by trying to make a clean break. But in his heart he knows it isn't the right thing. He makes some bad decisions and he tells some lies but he doesn't do it to hurt others. He really does love Jenna and tries to do the right things for her.
Definitely worth reading. Looking forward to Jacks story, Jenna's sister.
When I read the blurb to Lovely Distraction, I was intrigued and truly looked forward to reading the book! Unfortunately, the book fell quite a bit short of expectations. I think that while the premise of the book was promising, the characters weren't really likeable and I found it difficult to connect with them. I also felt like the author just kept throwing more and more drama into the book to fill pages and it was really just too much. The story is written in both past and present tense and I don't think there was enough distinction (for me at least) between the two to eliminate confusion. Further to that, the lack of editing was a huge problem that I just couldn't ignore. Overall, I think this had the potential to be a great story, but unfortunately left me flat. I received this book in exchange for an honest review.
Perfect mixture of emotional highs & lows with a fairy tale ending. Realistic? Maybe not, but is refreshing & brings light to what is important to anyone who is or has ever been hurt by the person they love. The only negative is in minor spelling & grammatical errors, however, that seems to be the norm these days.

This is the first book of J.J. Dorn's that I have read and I will most definitely be reading her others. I received this as an ARC for an honest review. Since I have not read anything else of this author, I wasn't sure what to expect of her writing. I love that the book starts in the present and then alternates every other chapter going back to when Jamieson and Jenna meet and then to the present. even after everything the two of them have been through over the last 5 years, there is so much chemistry between them both throughout the whole story. the friendship that she has with Olivia and Audrey is amazing. everyone should be so lucky to have one friend like them, let alone two-thankfully I have 2 friends just like that-. Jamieson...who couldn't fall in love with him? cuz I know I sure did. I can't wait to read Jack' story!!!
Although I was intrigued with the premise, this book just didn't do it for me.
The book is written both in the past and the present and at times it proved to be just a bit too much. One chapter past, then the next future. It made me dizzy.
Although I enjoy a second chance romance, this one fell flat. The heroine and hero just couldn't get their act together and it just became so repetitive.
Although for the most part it was well written, there were some glaring typos that need to be fixed.
