It has been nearly a thousand years since the Afótama have had a chieftain, and the old Viking gods have decided it’s time to return some power to the tribe’s men. Harvey Lang and Oliver Gilisson have barely settled into their roles as queen’s consorts when new powers awaken along with undeniable hungers.Queen Contessa now has two chieftains and twice as many problems. She’s not only in the midst of using her powerful psychic abilities to track long-missing clanspeople, but now has to contend with mercenaries targeting the Afótama’s New Mexican desert home and a megalomaniac fairy queen wants to take Ollie’s sons. Further, her two men seem to have forged an incendiary connection that has left her feeling cold.If Harvey, Ollie, and Tess are to be the leaders who finally return magic to their people, they must first come to terms with having power of their own. And to balance their strengths, they may have to become a true ménage instead of a sometimes-threesome.

Rating: 3.5 Book 2 was enjoyable ! Harvey and Ollie are trying to navigate their attraction to each other while Tess has to work through some insecurities about that. Of course they work it out and the triad moves forward and are steamy together. I liked that Tess and her guys are still trying to figure out their new roles as Queen ans Chieftains of their people, it's not an easy task and is a lot of times the source of internal conflict. They're still trying to sort of the case of their missing people and now they have a fairy queen to contend with too!! Add in Nadia's story building in the not quite background (i love her!!) We learn who her LIs are and yup she's gonna have two as well and her reactions to the guys being present is sooo hilarious because Nadia is usually so unflappable but becomes this ball of nerves when Thom and Jeff are around heheh. Cant wait to read her story. Also Jeff, Ollie's bestie brought a foster kitten with him. So much cute. And the kitten's name is Destructo lol. I did feel the story was dragging a bit towards the end their but then bam Otama returns to shake things up. So i liked this one and will be reading more in the series :)
Another fun installment in this series! So much happens in this book, I won’t even bother trying to react to it all. Harvey and Ollie start exploring their own relationship in the triad and this was a great development, although I wish there’d been more of it. The love story between the three of them was second to the plot but I really enjoyed what I got. Great twists and I’m so curious how Otama will factor in to all of these changes. There were a lot of loose threads and some scenes lacked transition (i.e. .) However, the big arc of the series continues to have major developments so I’m hoping some of these threads will be resolved in coming books.
CW: threat of violence, past infidelity, forced military conscription
As the follow up to The Viking Queen's Men this book gives us more of the same. Sassy banter, telepathic Vikings, meddling ghosts (and gods), surprise powers, and hot hot hot threesomes. These books are just SO FUN.
I enjoyed this one a lot, maybe even a little more than the first. I prefer my menage romances to be true triads where all characters are involved with each other, but in a way I'm really happy that Holley Trent spread the relationship development over two books. In the fiirst book the focus is on Tess/Harvey and Tess/Ollie and Harvey and Ollie learning to live together. This book develops that friendship further and moves it into another romance.
I really liked that it started with attraction built on a new friendship, and that the relationship got a chance to grow without Tess, as well as with her. What I really appreciated is that both Harvey and Ollie were mindful of Tess feelings about the development, and didn't assume that just because they were both okay with sharing, that didn't mean that Tess was.
Plotwise, a whole lot is happening, most of it magical. Because of Tess's increasing power and arrival of Chieftains, the Fae queen gets involved. This means there are a lot of Fae hopping around this book, which is usually not my thing, but these are biker Fae clad in leather that are also assassins, and somehow that's my jam immensely.
The world is just so filled with awesome, over the top magical creatures stuff, I can't help but get invested and gobble it up. Sometimes there's just so much happening that certain stuff is underdeveloped, and some of the characters blend together a bit because their characterization is so alike. But the catnip qualities of the universe overcome that easily for me.
Anyway, I devoured this book and really enjoyed it. I finished it somewhere in the middle of the night, and immediately bought the next one. Again. Holley Trent is bad for my wallet but good for my soul :D
"The sooner we make a mess, the sooner we can clean it up and move on.” • First, let's talk about that cover: HOT! 🔥🔥🔥 I wish Ollie was in there too, LOL, bec that's where this story began: Harvey navigating through this new-to-him feels for Ollie, his supposed-to-be rival for Tess's affections. More magical problems are presented in this installment to the series, but the men's development from enemies to lovers is what I liked most about this story (ofc). As with most people, I was more familiar with the love triangle set-up where the men are constantly one-upping each other, or at least in MFM arrangements, offering and serving different things to the F. I expected them to be linear parallels, like columns supporting Tess, just two separate pillars on both sides of her. But the moment their paths intersect (and I'm telling you, things other than paths ~intersect 😉) was a welcome development! It made so much sense to me that Harvey, having grown up in conditions similar to Tess, would need and crave's Ollie's wild and hot passion. Ollie, also needed the structure and strength in their relationship that Tess wouldn't be able to provide. And Tess, bless her, absolutely needed more than one mate to carry the weight of her newly-minted queendom. What I really didn't understand was Otama breaking out of the spirit realm, and the subplot surrounding Nadia was meh for me, but maybe I'll have to read the rest of the series know more. This was really entertaining, and the writing voice was really funny and enjoyable. The witty banter and narrative had me LOL-ing several times, same with the first book. I'm looking into going with the rest of the series, but my erotic PnR mood last summer has passed, and now more inclined to check out Holley Trent's contemporary romance books. • *This review also appears as a bookstagram on my IG: @bentchbites
This is the second book in the series and we continue with Tessa, Harvey, and Ollie's relationship. The sexual tension has been building between Ollie and Harvey over the past two months. Tessa has continued to struggle with managing the web and locating the lost. When Harvey and Ollie decide they want more than to just love the same woman, the three of them have to reevaluate and shift their relationship dynamic yet again. When strange new powers begin to make themselves known, the men must take on a new and more equal role to support Tess and their people.
I liked how it was so much more human than just sex... they talked about the very real human emotions and compromises that are required in a polyamorous relationship.
This is the second book in the steamy and action packed Afotama Legacy series. It felt more like a continuation of the first book than a true stand-alone. While I really enjoyed it, I wouldn't recommend reading it first. I liked the way this story explored the world a little more, and pulled in other supernatural elements (like fae politics and werewolves) in a very natural way. The relationship building was also topnotch in dealing with polyamorous issues in a healthy and realistic way. This is fast becoming a favorite paranormal series for me.
This series is SO GOOD! Ollie, Tess, and Harvey are finally finding their footing in a constantly changing environment. The world expands quite a bit in this installment, and I can't wait to see what happens next (I've already started the next book). I have a feeling I'm going to be down the Holley Trent rabbit hole for quite a while ;)
This sequel finds our intrepid triad working through some big changes in their relationship including shifting dynamics and attractions and mysterious new powers. The previous book left a lot of threads hanging and I am glad this picks those back up. A lot of those threads are still hanging and look to be series-long plots but there's definite movement here.
I am so beyond hooked on this series. The type you must read and in order.
I love the changes taking place with Tess and her men. I love that Harvey and Oliver are getting really along nicely. Let's talk about that fae queen....I hate her and can't wait to see what her future brings. Now to the next book of the series..
I liked this advancement of the storyline. Watching Harvey, Ollie, and Tess work through their growing feelings and powers was lovely. I loved the way they dealt with the emotional end rather than just jump into bed and work the rest out later.
I think I'm done with this series. I skimmed a lot of this book. The only parts that interested me was Ollie and Harvey's relationship. I didn't care about the politics or the other characters.
Tess, Ollie and Harvey find their balance Tess, Ollie and Harvey relationship starts to come together. Ollie and Harvey relationship is changing. Tess needs protection and Ollie's cousin Heath, of the Sidhe, offers his crew. While Tess is bringing home one of the missing, her men are struck down with a debilitating illness. The Norse gods have a plan. It is time for the Cheiftain's to return. The power the gods took back is now being returned. The threats to Tess are escalating. They get a new security team when a pack of mercenary werewolves following a threat, show up. Tess hires then on the spot. Ollie becoming a Chieftain, presents a big problem with the Sidhe Queen. He with Harvey, his son Matt and best friend Jeff head to the Fae court to negotiate with the Queen. Heath offers his support. Rhianna keeps them waiting, so Tess decides to make an appearance. A furious Rhianna proves to be unreasonable, until someone with a lot of power comes to Tess and her men's aid. A new lead on Tess's missing brother, has Tess with Nadia, Thom and Jeff heading out to find him, while Ollie and Harvey put Noreston to rights. Soon there will be an addition to their family. Great series. Tess, Harvey and Oillie had a rocky road to travel. A great set up for Nadia, Thom and Jeff. Lachlan and O'tama. Love Alpha wolf pack. Great paranormal, MMF/MM romance, with light BDSM. Love this series. Rereading in anticipation of the release of the final book in the series.

Book two answers a lot of questions as contessa comes into her own and her consorts share her powers. I like the storyline and I don't mine reading come novels along a same theme. I don't like this open running never ending storyline. Feels like I never get the full story. It got a five because it was so good and it's character depth was excellent.
