Doughnuts were her weakness.
If Sadie Mullins hadn’t been running on the beach to burn off the calories from her doughnut addiction, she wouldn’t have noticed the man not moving out in the water.
Wouldn’t have dived in after him.
Wouldn’t have met West Montgomery.
The cocky bastard should have been thankful, grateful even.
Of course, he wasn’t.
That should have been the end of it.
Of course, it wasn’t.
Damn doughnuts.

Overall Opinion: This was a little better than "just ok". I liked it, but I also got frustrated at times with the overall lack of communication between the h and H. I will go on and read the conclusion of their story in Soaked, because I am curious as to how it'll end -- but it's not going down as one of my favorites.

Brief Summary of the Storyline: This is Sadie and West's story. Sadie finds out that her boyfriend of many years has been cheating on her and recording their sexy times. After escaping him, she moves to a beach town with her best-friend. One day when running, she sees a man immobile in the ocean and jumps in to save him. This man, West, wasn't actually drowning and ends up actually helping her out. They start bumping into each other often, and dancing around their mutual attraction -- but eventually they give in and start dating. There is some OW drama, some sexy times, some miscommunication, and a cliffhanger....

POV: This was told in Sadie's POV.

Overall Pace of Story: Good. I read this pretty quick, I didn't skim, and I thought it flowed well. I knew there would be a cliffhanger, so I was expecting it at the end.

Instalove: Not really. They don't profess their love, but strong feelings develop pretty quickly.

H rating: 3 stars. West. He needed to communicate with the h!! Otherwise, he was pretty hot.

h rating: 3 stars. Sadie. I liked her, but then her pushing the H away and not demanding communication started to bug me.

Sadness level: Low. No tissues necessary.

Heat level: Moderate. They have some hot scenes, but not so much that it takes away from the story.

Descriptive sex: Yes.

Safe sex: Yes and no. Some scenes have mentions of condom use while other don't. (No mention of use/non-use with other partners)

OW/OM drama: Yes

Sex scene with OW or OM: Yes

Cheating: No (but -- the h finds out that her boyfriend is cheating on her in the prologue)

Possible Triggers: Mild

Closure: This ended on a cliffhanger, so no closure at the end. The next book is currently out though.

How I got it: It was part of my scribed subscription.

Safety: Probably not safe for most

3 stars!

I enjoyed this one. I actually like how sex positive the heroine and her friends are, which is rare in NA where their heroines tend to be innocent, shy, virgins. Sadie isn't one of those.

Where this one failed for me was the romance. It wasn't anything special, which was a bummer. It's not that it's bad because it's not but it's very superficial. The romance just skims the surface. It's like the hero and heroine are together because...eh, they look good together or something. I didn't feel there was anything deep about their relationship.

But other than that, this one was fun to read.

Are you to dive in and take a plunge with Stacy Kestwick's debut book and get ready to get "wet"? If so, just be prepared to get splashed with this sexy, steamy, fun, and playful romance.

#1wet

WET was a fun, charming, and engaging read! I read this book in one sitting and the writing flowed at an excellent pace. The author was able to incorporate a sexy read while maintaining a fun, sassy, and playful romance. With realistic and flawed characters, Ms. Kestwick allowed her readers to be engaged with the back and forth saga as West and Sadie navigated their "undefined" relationship.

#2Wet

This book was a quick read but I must warn you, WET ends in a cliffy. It's one of those cliffhangers that frustrates you since this story had so many secrets that has yet to be revealed. And if you are one of those readers that thrive on angst...be prepared to get SOAKED with a love/hate relationship with West and Sadie. I will admit there were times I had to put down my kindle and shake my head since I was frustrated with the main characters. Overall, this was a great debut by Ms. Kestwick and has me drowning with need in wanting to know if West and Sadie's relationship will sink or swim.

Review by Natasha Gentiel

So I first ran across this book on Goodreads and read the blurb and was totally ready to dive in. I mean you put doughnuts in a blurb and chances are you’ll get every single person to stop and read. I have to say I was super excited to read this book cause it sounded like a fun, quirky read but what I got was so much more.

This book…this book.. I have to be honest when I finished this book I had to literally walk away. I went through so many different emotions I didn’t know where to start.

Sadie Mullins thought that she had the best that the world could give her. She was a very successful photographer with a great future ahead of her. She also had a great boyfriend - so great he had already picked up the engagement ring. Then in one blink of an eye and one word of a conversation everything that she knows is pulled out from under her. With nothing left to do but to dust herself off, she packs her bags and moves away from everything that she knows.

Now living with her best friend and doughnuts as her favorite food group she has no choice but to exercise and run off some of those sugary treats. Imagine her surprise that while running on the beach she noticed a man not moving out in the water.
She did what every normal person would do, she dived in and attempted to try and save this man. Except well he wasn’t drowning, he was ‘floating’. Well this is awkward.

We stared at each other. I could finally see his eyes. They were beautiful – a clear blue with chips of gray mixed in, his thick eyelashes spiky from the ocean. I lifted myself higher, trying to get a closer view. He tilted his head, and his gaze drifted down my face, stopping on my mouth. My tongue responded, slipping out to lick my salty bottom lip.

I need to move to a beach and start eating doughnuts, but then I would have to run too, which is probably why I wouldn’t want to eat the doughnuts, but to save a hot man….Umm I can probably give him mouth to mouth. It’s a hardship but I’ll take it.

Enter West Montgomery.

The cocky bastard should have been thankful, grateful even.
Of course, he wasn’t.

With their first meeting behind them, imagine their surprise when their eyes lock again in an elevator. This encounter has things looking up a bit. Things can only get better-right? You know what they say “third times a charm”.

Well this man, this guy, gave me hives. He also gave me gray hair. Okay let me start by saying that he was hot as heck. He had everything that you could want in a man. He also has never had a girlfriend. So I had to give him a little bit of slack, except a little turned out to be a lot.

So West and Sadie jump into a friendship, which turns into a date, which turns into a little bit more. But I have to say that I got very very frustrated with him. I think he didn’t really communicate well and if I have to be honest I don’t think she was completely honest as well.

I loved how they played the game of get to know each other by finding out favorite colors, food and minor details, but nothing was said about past relationships; nothing was said about the future and what they exactly were to one and other.

I know that I felt that West really liked Sadie and I know that he was always faithful to her. But it was the things not said that I had issues with.

“Have I ever lied to you?”
Raising the thermos to my mouth, I took a long, slow swallow, thinking about his words. Technically, I didn’t think he had. But omitting things? The walls of the bathroom at the Wreck came to mind. The meetings with Aubrey about the gala. And the pictures in his nightstand. I don’t know that he’d ever lied, but he wasn’t as honest as he could be either.
I shook my head, wondering what else I might not know.
Choosing my words carefully, I focused on my hands when I answered. “I’m sure not lying and being truthful are the same things.”

So this is why I gave this book 4 stars. I have to say the writing was very good and the book flowed wonderfully, but it’s the lack of answers to my questions that didn’t make me feel whole.

This book also ends on a cliffhanger, a cliffhanger that made me shake my Kindle, yell, and pull out my hair. Okay maybe not pull out my hair, but it was like NOOO. Pleaseeee NOOO.

Now I look forward to Soaked and hope that all my questions will be answered!

I legit loved everything about this book. It's like bringing romance back--those first real love butterflies, the attraction you're not sure you're supposed to have, feeling awkward and uncertain. Let's just say, I got it. Sadie is quirky and funny and completely genuine. She has a crazy inner monologue that made me laugh constantly. And West... dude. He's such a guy. Infuriating at times, but also a really... really hot guy. I wanted to smack him upside the head at times and then ride his face at others. *shrugs* Sometimes both.

**Wet generously provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.**

2 "A sleepover sounds good." Stars

Having never heard of this book and winning an ARC through a Facebook takeover I immediately read the blurb and some reviews and became quite intrigued. Wet proved to be a fun, interesting, and off-putting ride all put together as we ride the waves of our heroines, Sadie Mullins, life.

Scorned in a very direct, intriguing way by whom she thought was the love of her life Sadie uproots herself from Nashville and relocates to live with her best friend in a coastal town. Sadie and Rue, said best friend, devise a pact to only "have fun" be sleeping with tourists of said coastal town and not attaching themselves to townies. This line of thought carries a good part of the story. Throughout the book, there are few spots where the friendship between these was grating. It was juvenile with goings on of college frats girls rather than two women trying to be professionals.

On a morning run and a hilarious circumstance Sadie meets our hero, West Montgomery, a hot, arrogant, surfing local. Fireworks and warning bells simultaneously go off in Sadie's head. Post meeting she befriends a member of West's crew, Theo, and a budding friendship sparks. There are moments between Sadie and West I found truly charming. A few specific dates or times of true banter. When these are together sharing touching moments or glimpses of vulnerability I saw the potential for something great and my connection grew. The allure of the scenery around them, the beauty of the banter coupled with the cat and mouse game they're playing all were great elements to the story. West is definitely a stud, he says the right things, plans the right dates even when he's not totally forthcoming. His charisma is the best part of the book. It hurt when he best foot forward caught Sadie but she continually made me, as the reader, feel small when nothing was good enough that West did.

However, there were times I couldn't look past Sadie's abrasive attitude. She was overly defensive, catty, and sometimes just plain mean in the face of West to the point it was off-putting. I couldn't connect with this woman at all because I never truly understood her or her motivation. Trying to play a coy, sarcastic woman just didn't work with Sadie because it made her too much, in my opinion. I understood her plight and her scorn but it carried over way too much into her budding relationship with West. In addition, there's a mystery to West we can't figure out - a commonality in play to the scorn Sadie once felt. I don't mind the mystery of it or the villain in the form of a conniving woman trying to hook her star to West. But it renders a confusing plot line of when this woman comes into play and provides too much a catalyst for Sadie's insecurities leading to the inevitable cliff hanger. After all the back and forth of Sadie working to figure out if she can trust West or not, the "are we or aren't we" and "do I trust you or not" inner and outer monologues it just proved too much and too young for my tastes.

Wet proved just ok for me. It held my attention through the entire thing and while there is a cliff hanger personally I didn't find it shocking or too much to bear. This is a contemporary romance told from the heroine's POV.

Seriously…that ending is just damn E.V.I.L! Why the hell are we meant to suffer like that? My goodness, I can't believe I'm left hanging…ugh!! And to top it all off, I'm pissed off at West. What's he playing at? And, don't get me started on Aubrey…gah! She's such a sleazy skank. I feel sorry for Sadie, especially if she's being duped.

All in all, Wet reads with such ease. The story flows and sparks at the right spots, keeping your undivided attention. Sadie and West tip-toe around one another and cannot resist the heated tension between them. Succumbing to their wants and needs. What they physically say to one another says more than their unspoken words, and this becomes a little frustrating because you want them to just say how they really feel. Spill it all out. But I guess that makes for a good story. Ugh…ugh…ugh! Guess I have to wait until the end of March for the next book to come out…grrrrrrr

Okay, I don't like the "hero" in this book. Sadie moves away from the life she loves, upon finding out that her boyfriend is cheating on her. She moves in with her wild and crazy bestie, Rue. This book really starts as Sadie is trying to make a life for herself on this island. The first part of this book read more like chic-lit to me. It was well written and funny. Girl power all the way. Then Sadie meets West. Yes, he is yummy but I never really connected with him or liked him. He was so secretive and I never fully thought that he liked Sadie as much as she liked him. Of course we have "another woman", one who West says is just a really close family friend and a long ago, long over with hook-up. The thing is she is always there, when Sadie is not. He always has an excuse for why she is there, and since we never get a West POV I have to believe it is true. I don't like him because of that and because he is just shady. And HOLY CLIFFHANGER...uggggggg I had no idea that this was a series. When I say that, I thought that the next book would be about one of the 1000 friends that we become acquainted with in this book. The truth of the matter is that I don't really want Sadie with West. He does not come off as truthful and whereas I really don't think he is cheating on Sadie, he is withholding many day to day details of his life with her- so that is a form of cheating to me. I don't know if I care enough about West to read the next book in this series. Time will tell....

DAMN! Talk about a cliffhanger...on to the second book now!

This one was hot hot hot! Sadie and West had some serious chemistry. From the beginning we see them form a tentative friendship and then a scorching hot romance. The secondary characters were interesting as well and play important parts in the story!

I loved this one and can't wait to see what happens in the second!

Five months after a bad breakup and a move from TN to SC, Sadie is living with her best friend and life guarding at a local resort. On her morning run she sees a guy that she thinks is in trouble and goes to his rescue only to find out he wasn't in danger and has a big ego. After running into him a few more times and hearing about his reputation she determines to stay clear but is drawn in anyway. There is a rival for his attention and a lot of misunderstandings arise. The story is fairly erotic and sex seems to be the main thing of interest to all the characters. The cliff hanger ending was the final straw. Not interested enough in these guys to follow up.

4.5 sugary stars!

Wet had everything that I loved: just hot guys , strong female lead, humor, romance, a little steamy steamy, drama, and doughnuts (♥).

Stacy I would like to add you to one of my all time favorite authors, let me hug you.
description

Anyways, this book was flipping fantastic. I fell in love with all the characters, except one.

Yeah you know who you are you ho-bag. ('scuse me)
description

I loved Sadie. She doesn't annoy me, like some girls in other romance books (that I shall NOT name). She is genuine, kind, funny, unique, smart, and fun. There were times when she misunderstood the situation, and came off a bit whiny but it was acceptable because she should've been questioning what was happening. This probably doesn't make sense because I'm going spoiler free here...

West... my boyfriend, he is your typical gorgeous tanned surfer. And like all my book boyfriends, he's a charmer, has a smart mouth, funny, adorable, sweet, kind, has a nice body...abs...wait what did I say that out loud? Oh my.
description

But...the ending... WHY? I swear for one second I was about to throw my Kindle in my bathtub. Yes, I was reading and relaxing do not judge.
I never expected it, ever. Like, my imaginary jaw was dropping too. Major f-ing cliffhanger. If you don't like cliffhangers...just wait until Soaked comes out, and hopefully THAT issue will be resolved or [thepersonwhoshallnotbenamed] will get [his/her] ass kicked by this girl right here.
description

I want Soaked to come out soon, because I seriously have so many possible story outcomes in my head, that I'm going crazy.

Ahhh, it's not just the Water's Edge I'm on... Nope, I'm on the edge of a cliff, having just finished reading (and cussing out the author) Wet, and am now desperately in need of the conclusion to West and Sadie's saga. Like, yesterday.

A chance encounter on a beach, a rescue gone awry and doughnuts... Oh, and an arrogant, sexy man she should definitely stay away from. That about sums up Sadie Mullins' morning—and how she came to get entangled with West Montgomery.

This book, y'all. I got the end, and was all, 'noooooooooooo' but also completely 'YESSSSS'. Yeah, there was a lot of drawing out of words over here. Because man alive, I enjoyed reading it. It was funny, smart and left me grinning—cliffy or not.

The love/hate thing West and Sadie had going on was super fun—playful, sexy and totally on-point. I love that kind of storyline—enemies to lovers, almost. Although, more frenemies than enemies. This couple were just sassy and snarky and cocky and HOT whether they were play-fighting or flirting...or both.

Wet starts with a bang. An interesting, different prologue that really set-up Sadie's predicament and set her on the path to finding West. I do wish it'd been brought up again—even in passing—because although it was quite clever, I'd almost forgotten about it by the end. I'm guessing, though, it's going to play a bigger role in the next book. I certainly hope so.

There’s just so much to like about this book, and this series. Including (especially) the friendships, which are absolutely engaging—I'm going to need a book for Rue and Grady, Wyatt, Theo...and I could probably go on. But first, I need to know what's going to happen to Sadie and West. Like, yesterday, did I mention that? ~ Beth, 4.5 stars

Really enjoyed this book! It was full of heartache, hot sex, miscommunication, swoon, a sneaky b*tch, an a**hole ex... basically all the things that provide a reader with a delicious angst-filled sandwich!! I couldn't put it down.

Sadie... I loved her obsession with Krispy Kreme donuts, her friendship with Theo & Rue & her crazy-talented photography skills. I don't totally blame her for suspecting that West & Aubrey were involved but I really wish she would've confronted him about it, rather than just assume crap. And those photos in his drawer... how can she not see that those were planted by Aubrey?

West... I gotta admit, I probably would've fallen for him too. He's a hottie, a hard-worker, he loves his dog & he left the most adorable paper airplane messages for Sadie. I loved how sweet & affectionate he was with Sadie & how he wanted to help her beat her fear of the deep, dark ocean water. But... WTFrak is he thinking when it comes to Aubrey?! I don't think he's stupid but he needs to put MAJOR distance between himself & the She-Devil. How can he not see that it hurts Sadie when Aubrey is constantly glued to his side? Seriously... Time to man-up & permanent scrape off the barnacle, dude.

The supporting cast of characters was highly entertaining; my favorites being cutie Theo, headstrong Rue & single mom (& sister of West) Hailey. Hoping to hear about their HEAs in the future. (Hailey's being a reunion with her military man.)

But that b*tch Aubrey... Ugh. She is a lowdown, desperate, dirty wanker! I hope she takes a long walk off of a short pier & soon!! (And that no one will be there to save her!)

Thank gods the next book is available for my one-clicking pleasure because the cliffhanger we got in this one has me FUMIN'! *runs off to Amazon*

A hidden gem! I love reading something from a new author and then to find I really enjoyed the story...I loved loved loved this story, it is funny, sweet and with some angst among the lines. It is written exceptionally well and it flowed effortlessly and I really felt like I was their with this group of people throughout the story. Sadie's character was enjoyable and made me laugh, west what a bad ass seductive arrogant arsehole but I loved him. The couples chemistry is smoking hot and I can't wait to read more of Sadie & West. Their are several secondary characters that you can't but love and some that had me thinking BITCH!! I am really interested to hear what has gone on between Grady & Rue. All in all I loved this and didn't put it down until I finished it in one sitting,I was thoroughly entertained. Congrats Stacy on your debut book and I look forward to reading more from you.

Omg what the fuck is with that ending.

Loved it!

Oh my gosh did I enjoy this book.

From the beginning to the end, I was hooked. I devoured this book, it was so hard for me to put it down.

From the flirty and playful banter between the characters, to the sweet moments, and the laughter, I loved it all.

I dived right in, and I didn't come back up until the book was over. This book has a little of something for everyone in it.

That ending almost killed me. I am so so excited to read the next book.

Full of humor and wit, a great start for a debut author! Well written with characters that are highly entertaining and pull on your emotions.

I definitely had characters I wanted to strangle (Aubrey) those I want to swoon over (hello Theo!) and those that you wanted to get a clue (I'll let you figure that one out). This book does end on a cliffhanger leaving you screaming NOOOOO! So you've been warned.

Can't wait to read more!

Meh. This was more a 3 maybe even 3.5 star book until the end. There is only so much annoying drama I can take and then to end it on a pointless cliffhanger just didn't work for me.

The start of the book and the inevitable break up from the man she thought she would marry who turns out to be a terrible prospect, was done well. As was the first meeting of the MCs. Loved the attempted saving from drowning thing and the big loveable dog. I didn't love West's inability to ask for anything and his way of forcing Sadie to face fears. Also, I hate the lack of communication trope and if they would just talk things would be so much better.

There's sex with other people before they get together and the one scene was just amusing. All of this works, they had previous partners, in some cases many of them, who cares. There are some good sex scenes between the main characters but there still is a story. All the characters seem to be sex positive which is a nice change. Although I do wish we knew more about Sadie's best friend Rue then her enjoyment of one night stands and a few details of her career.

Narration was fine, characters are fine. No interest currently in reading the second one, there are too many other options out there that will likely be more enjoyably for me.

This left me scratching my head.

There are some books that you just can't seem to connect with the characters and this was one of them. Sadie comes across as an abrasive sarcastic person. She's also a scorned lover - betrayed by an Asshole she had planned her life with. She meets cocky good-looking West Montgomery. They have the easy banter. Some light flirting. Sadie, however, doesn't want to be with him. He kinda wants to be with her or sleep with her. But then she kinda really does want to be with him. It's all a chase and then Sadie backing down. And Sadie getting jealous over the typical beautiful family friend that West has a history with.

Yeah anyway, the chemistry wasn't quite there for me and I couldn't connect with the characters either. I wasn't sure what Sadie wanted or what her intentions were etc. Same with West. We don't know enough about him and it just left me scratching my head. I just didn't know what exactly was going on with them.

I did like Grady and Theo so that's a plus. I am curious to read the next book as this finished on a cliffhanger. So I'll look into that and see if there's any improvements for me.

OH MAN! Go Stacy Kestwick!

I know based on my shelf there are some contradictions there. It simply means that that sometimes these characters are awesome, but then, they do shit that makes them un-awesome. get me??? Like here, West is super hot and sweet, yet, he lets his rich bitch ex lure him around like a lost puppy. The heroine hates it, but he never does anything about it even though it's splintering her trust. So, he's awesome, but he's a fucking wank!

loved this story. It was epic! I mean, it really submerged into the world the author created. All the characters were pretty well fleshed out and we have a heroine who is struggling to make a new life for herself after a serious betrayal.

There's so much more I want to say, but I'll let it all out on book 2. This one left on helluva CLIFFHANGER!!!
