This **short story (only 20 pages)** is a prequel to the Palmyrton Estate Sale Mystery Series.
We see what we want to see, nothing more.
When detectives Coughlin and Holzer investigate the disappearance of a successful young businessman, they’re both impressed by his beautiful wife. Slender, curvy, delicate—Michelle Fanning is not the kind of woman a man would choose to leave. Soon, a gruesome discovery leads the detectives to believe they’re investigating a murder. Reeling from the collapse of his own marriage, Detective Coughlin sees Michelle Fanning as a suspect. Detective Holzer, fascinated by her gentle femininity, sees her as a victim. Which cop turns a blind eye to the truth?

Inspired by a true crime that occurred in New Jersey, this **short story** originally appeared in Alfred Hitchcock’s Mystery Magazine. The story introduces the character of Detective Sean Coughlin, who goes on to play a role in the full-length novels, ANOTHER MAN’S TREASURE and TREASURE OF DARKNESS, in the Palmyrton Estate Sale Mystery series. Please be aware that BLIND EYE is a short story, not a full-length novel. Chapter 1 of ANOTHER MAN’S TREASURE is also included.

This was a brilliant short story, delving into the back story to Detective Sean Coughlin and his partner Holzer. It really made me like Coughlin more than book 1 (Another Man's Treasure) did, even if the plot was somewhat cliche and predictable.

I got this book as a free download and I really enjoyed it. You can easily read this book in one sitting, since it held my attention that was not a problem. I liked the characters and the only negative thing I have to say is that I wished it was longer. Now that I met some of the characters I can't wait to read the series, I am sure it will be an exciting read as well.

When a husband fails to return home to his wife and two young children, Detectives Pete Holzer and Sean Coughlin investigate. Holzer sees the young wife as a victim, but Coughlin only sees a suspect. What will they discover . . . and which detective will be right?

Based on a true story, this short story is a prequel to the Palmyrton Estate Sale Mystery series and introduces detective Sean Coughlin. Readers will discover that we all see what we expect to see, or perhaps only what we want to see.

The first chapter of “Another Man’s Treasure,” the first book in the Palmyrton Estate Sale Mystery series, follows the short story.

A little odd-the story seemed to start in the middle of a chapter right after the copyright info. I'm not sure how much credit the author can be given for building this on the facts of a true case, the reason for 3 stars. The free chapter of the next book shows a promising premise so I'll be reading that one at some point.

Prequel to Delicious Series

Love this series! Just finished the next to last book, and saw this prequel. Ms Hubbard’s writing style is perfect for my taste. Every page holds your interest, wanting to see what’s next. Character description leads you to “see” them easily. Very enjoyable!

Brief, startling

Terse, taught little tale of deception and bloody, bloody murder, told with a remarkable lack of gore and economy of words.

Not my favorite S. W. Hubbard story, but only because I didn’t like the ending!

Packed with an officer’s intuition and emotions, this short story delivers. The story starts with a missing husband/father and ends with case solved. A fast paced page turner that can easily be read in one sitting. I enjoyed this.

A little glimpse into the series

So this is just A little story that involves Sean and his partner. There's nothing in it that sets up the series but it's a fun little side bar.

Ahh, I wish it was longer. I love my "visits" with the Treasure characters. It was helpful to learn more about Sean's background. This is an entertaining quick read.

Great detective work!!

This prequel gives more insight into Sean for those of us who started reading Book 1. Nice little mystery on its own merits!!

Quick short story.

Not a big fan of stories this short but it was done nicely. I do however truly love the series that follows this.

This literally had no resolution other than the fact that one detective literally turned a “blind eye” to the crime. Like… I wanted a little bit of a twist or something lol

I read this out of order but still thoroughly enjoyed it. It was great to see things through Sean's eyes. Definitely worth reading.
