A truly unique story about a woman who can sense the emotions & secrets of those around her. She can sense when something is wrong that no one else sees. This sense often pushes people away or lands her in the middle of danger. This book had me on the edge of my seat from page one! So suspenseful and captivating! I could not put it down! Such a unique premise. I hope a sequel is in the works!
As someone who primarily listens to audiobooks because English is my second language, I was a little hesitant to pick up The Empath since there isn’t an audiobook available yet. But I’m so glad I gave it a chance! This book grabbed me from the very first chapter. It felt like peeling an onion—every time I thought I had figured something out, a new revelation completely changed my perspective and sent me back to guessing all over again.
The story is told through two POVs, which worked really well, and I found the main character very likable and easy to root for. The short chapters also made it a quick and enjoyable read, keeping the momentum going and making it hard to put down.
One thing I especially appreciated was how the mystery unfolded. Every answer seemed to raise new questions, and I was constantly trying to piece everything together.
The only thing I felt was missing were chapter titles in a few places, which might have helped with transitions and organization. But honestly, that’s a very minor criticism in an otherwise enjoyable read.
⭐️ Overall: a twisty, engaging mystery with great pacing, a likable protagonist, and plenty of surprises. Definitely a book I’ll be recommending to my friends! 📚✨
