Wrong Brother, Right Bed: A Best Friend's Brother M/M Romance

Rate this book
My life just went up in flames. My rescue plan? Crashing in the spare room of my best friend’s older, grumpier, and entirely too observant brother.

Three weeks ago, I had a fiancée, a wedding venue deposit, and my entire life mapped out. Now, I have a Honda Civic crammed full of cardboard boxes and nowhere to go.

Enter Marc Donovan.

Marc is a hyper-competent architect who thrives on absolute control. He is also my best friend’s older brother, which means he is strictly off-limits. To keep things perfectly professional, Marc actually writes out a list of seven rules for us living together. I’m supposed to keep my head down, heal my broken heart, and get back on my feet.

But the apartment is too small, the walls are too thin, and the way Marc watches me is starting to make my skin hum.

It starts with lingering eye contact over morning coffee. It escalates to accidental touches in the narrow kitchen. Then comes the slow, devastating realization that maybe the life I thought I wanted wasn't the right fit for me at all. When Marc’s iron-clad control finally snaps, the rules go out the window, and I discover exactly what happens when I give him the reins.

I’ve never been with a man before. But with every heated whisper and breathless command, Marc is proving that losing everything might be exactly what I needed to find where I truly belong.

Wrong Brother, Right Bed is a steamy, high-angst M/M contemporary romance featuring forced proximity, a profound bisexual awakening, intense praise, and a deeply emotional happily-ever-after.

Jace Wilder writes very engaging and likeable characters and I appreciate the cozy story telling. He infuses his work with a lot of emotion. Here it was hard to tell the individuality of personality between the two main characters. By the time I hit the middle of the book, Jamie and Marc seemed like they might be the same people. And the dialogue. Guys. One page of two dudes saying each other's names and "yeah." is okay once, but it happened over and over again. Give me a little more, please. I really enjoyed the Donovan family characters. The story arc was solid and progressed well.

Unfortunately, Wilder really needs a copy editor. There's a lot of inconsistencies, weird or lacking punctuation, and repetition that goes from being an effective romantic device to becoming a hobbling form of prose that becomes annoying and too much. His use of hyphens is heavy, and it made me wonder if the book was written by AI, though I don't think it was based on some of the other aspects of the text. There was a lot of inconsistencies about the characters ages, the length of their relationship, the months the action is happening, etc. The inconsistencies are very distracting. With a little editorial TLC, this book could go from okay to great.

D.N.F - so although I didn’t finish this book and I struggled like hell to understand how this book flows. I find it a difficult read. I will in winter attempt to read again once I’ve got time but I was on page 80 plus and nothing had happened of significance, it was like visualising the same thing happening daily de ja vu and a few pages later… the same again.. the description of the book sounded great and I love the front cover but not for me so far.

One of the worst written work I have ever read, the main story was good we love a bi awakening but why the bad used ai😭😭
Why is the whole book about describing the action we already read like what do you mean "Connor leaves at 10. He leaves the way Connor leaves". And why are they falling in love on first page? Why not wait for like 6 more chapters the book is not going anywhere. I hope other works are better but this was a 1 for me. If you plan to read a very good written book this is not it at all.
