The Bitcoin Guidebook: How to Obtain, Invest, and Spend the World's First Decentralized Cryptocurrency

Rate this book
Bitcoin is not another payment processor. Like the Internet, Bitcoin is a technology that runs through a distributed network. No one controls it, and no one can shut it down. Bitcoin has been called the currency of the Internet, but it is much more powerful than that—more astute observers have called it the Internet of currency.

The Bitcoin Guidebook is for anyone who doesn’t want to be left behind in the next technological revolution. It is an easy-to-read, easy-to-understand guide that explains everything the reader needs to know about how Bitcoin and other digital currencies work, what they can be used for, and how they will shape our society in the future. Topics covered include:

The digital currency’s origins, past, present, and future
The revolutionary blockchain technology behind Bitcoin
How to obtain and invest in Bitcoin
How and where to spend Bitcoin
Bitcoin’s relationship with the seedy Internet underground
Alternative digital currencies

No previous knowledge of Bitcoin. Much is still over my head but it is an excellent primer for understanding and investing in Bitcoin.

This book is for people that have a basic knowledge of what bitcoin is, it opens up the topic and expands to all that it is and it can or has become. It touches on alt coins and programs that may come about from the blockchain technology. Not the end all on the topic, but a great second book.

I guess I am more of an advanced user than I realized. A lot of this is already dated badly. And again, someone else recommending that you don't mine. Terrible advice

Ne kadar bilgilendirici bir kitap da olsa yazarın, okura kaskatı bilgi vermesi kitabın ortalarında iken acayip bir şekilde okuru boğuyor.

The part on mining gpu’s vs ASICs is obviously outdated. The versatility of mining vs the rate at which one can mine has changed. Meaning gpu’s mine different coins where the ASICs can only mine a few. Also the ASICs have the potential to cover the initial investment fastest but The resale on gpu’s is better. Gpu mining is going extinct.

Cloud mining has also changed. Before it was giant warehouses that you and other investors pay for. Now there are small farms that set up mining machines for you. You buy and send them. They charge daily rates.

The book gets a 3.9 rating.
