Opal Ridge - Australian Rural Romance

Rate this book
Amid the harsh landscape and beauty of the Australian outback, two people are unsure that they’re ready to commit to love.

Jenna Mackenzie is ready for a change in her life. So, when her brother is injured just before he takes a job in the outback, she leaps at the chance to take his place. If only her new boss was so thrilled…

Hurt by women all his life, Charles Carmody is certainly not happy when a young upstart from the city comes to play jillaroo on his sheep property. Only by his father’s coaxing does he let her stay.

What happens when Jenna’s fresh innocence meets Charles’ icy heart? Will she be able to melt his heart?

"Opal Ridge" is the first novel in Victoria Capper’s trilogy of outback romances. It covers the joys and trials of living in the Australian outback as well as the inevitable relationships that develop. In its way "Opal Ridge" is both a romp through the vernacular of life in the Bush and a story of great depth.

***** 5-STAR FOREWORD CLARION REVIEW
Five Stars (out of Five)
"Pride and Prejudice meets the Australian outback in this delightful, steamy romance.

"The Australian outback, captured in vivid detail, also represents a character in this rural romance book. The characters’ deep love for the bush emanates from the pages and helps draw the uninitiated into this unfamiliar, beautiful

~~QUOTE FROM THE As usual, the kookaburras were the first to be heard, laughing in the opalescent predawn light. The galahs had been chattering for some time in the trees further up the hill where they had slept for the night, but now were raucous in their screeching. … A lone magpie in a tree nearby greeted the day … in liquid, melodious notes.~~

"The sounds are so evocative and the verbs so descriptive that it does not take much work to imagine being in the land with Jenna and Charles. Along with them, bear witness to the delight and frustration kangaroos can bring, or the joy of seeing a wild koala. The use of Australian slang beyond the proverbial “G’day,” and the author’s description of outback culture further ground the story in reality. Non-Aussies may find a slang dictionary helpful at times, but that should not deter romance readers from this Down Under romance with tinges of Austen."

Wonderful

The story is beautiful. The right amount of romance. Lots of description of the outback, which I love. The characters are deep and entwined and well developed.
I am excited for the next installment!
