It's so hard to like a book when the FMC is insufferable, ridiculous and has a significant victim mentality. The story had potential, but it fell flat.
The story is about a woman, who reports three of her coworkers for their comments on a What's App group chat. Her name is leaked and she convinces herself they are all coming after her. However, it reads like a 1980's slasher movie, where I found myself yelling at her for her stupid actions like pushing a dresser in front of the only exit out of a room (because she heard a noise outside), going outside in the dark (to investigate said noise), and allowing a strange man whom she doesn't know to not only enter her home but stay the night (because it's raining).
As I said, the overall premise of the story has potential but the FMC is just unlikeable and hard to root for. Like, she butted in where she didn't belong because of her own personal issues with one of those coworkers and then it's a reap what you sow kind of situation. Her stupidity, odd willingness to trust people, and victim mentality ruins the story. It's like watching Michael Myers coming at her and her running straight for "No Exit" sign and then freaking out because there's no way out.
