Wow! This was an amazing action-packed shifter romance with the addition of F1 racing and I just loved it. This book was packed full of drama, action, F1 racing, enemies-to-lovers, a fake dating contract, a champion Alpha, dark themes, past violence and trauma mentioned, but there’s also love and romance along with stunning twists and turns along the way.
Stevie Graham’s best friend convinces her to go to the university STEM and Sports Scholarship fundraiser Stevie helped to organise all she really wants to do is just stay hidden away knowing that her father and brother are going to be there, and the last thing Stevie wants to do is draw attention to herself.
Everything changes for Stevie though when she finally escapes the ballroom and manages to run into a bathroom and suddenly finds herself trapped by this man she couldn’t clearly see and yet Stevie could only describe him as her Mate before he leaves just as suddenly as he appeared agitated to answer his phone.
Enzo finally returns to get to know his Mate, a Mate he’s only just found, and he can’t find her anywhere, and yet he can’t find her anywhere. And things just get worse when Enzo ends up fighting with his rival Sterling Graham.
The entire situation continues to get complicated when it’s suggested that Enzo and Stevie fake date to help with his teams PR. The F1 Alpha’s Bookish Fake Mate is the third title in the Alpha Fated Bonds series. Although I’m more of a NASCAR girl than a Formula One… I grew up watching Dale Earnhardt, Sr. most Sunday afternoons throughout the season, but I’ve watched my fair share of F1 racing as well. Some people will try to tell you racing is racing, oh, honey, it is not. That’s like comparing horse racing and car racing; the only thing they have in common is “racing”. I was impressed by how authentic the F1 world felt in Stevie and Enzo’s story. And yes, that is important if an author is going to sell me on wolf shifters living in the F1 racing world. It was very easy to fall into their story.
While I liked Enzo, especially when he got over his entitled ways… but it was Stevie who stole my heart in this one. What she has been through, what she has kept hidden for so long, simply broke my heart, yet I was so impressed by her strength, even if she doesn’t always see herself as strong. I’ll pause here to note that the author has a Trigger Warning for this story, and I agree with it. The villain in this one is truly vile, and his actions definitely deserve that warning. Yet, without that trauma for Stevie, I don’t think the story would have had the same impact on me.
I completely enjoyed my time in this world. Stevie and Enzo are a passionate couple, each with their own issues to be dealt with, all while accepting the mate bond between them, or eventually accepting it as they are both stubborn people. Their story is well-written, treats difficult subjects with compassion, and is definitely emotional and passionate with underlying danger throughout. I laughed and cried through this story, and got angry at the actions of people who should have behaved differently. If that sounds like your kind of Paranormal/Shifter Romance, then you’re going to love The F1 Alpha’s Bookish Fake Mate. I know I certainly did.

Loved that this book combined wolf shifters with F1 racing as I love them both. There was a lot of information for the F1 side and the author’s research taught me so much while being informational but was also entertaining. F1 is already a super hard sport and career to get into and the fact that our FMC Stevie is so passionate about her dream job makes you automatically want to cheer for her. Absolutely hate the father and everything he has put her through, but I feel that all the trauma and abuse shaped who she came to be once she removed herself from the toxic family situation. Frankly it was heartbreaking and the fact that she hid most of it from her older brother to spare him made me love her even more. There is so much background to Enzo that he comes in looking shady from the very beginning but there is a reason that he is the way he is and running into Stevie changed him entirely. The secrets that are revealed are emotionally shattering and finally come to light for everyone. Lots of spice and fated mates round this out and make it another 5 star book.
