Black Knight
Landon was the man who haunted my dreams long before I knew his name.
He was temptation cloaked in shadows—the devil in a dangerously irresistible form. A man built on secrets and possessive ways, he both terrified and thrilled me.
I hated him.
I loved him.
And there was no hiding it.
But some secrets aren’t meant to stay buried. And the closer I get to uncovering the truth about no only myself but also Landon, the closer I come to losing myself in the darkness he’s wrapped me in.
Will he destroy me... or will I destroy us both?

The Black Knight meets his angel.
If I had to give one emoji reaction to reading BLACK KNIGHT from Author L. Lovelock, I would post 🤯 ‘mind-blown'
BLACK KNIGHT is book two in Ms. Lovelock's Red Reign series about two influential underworld families at war with each other. Seriously, it was an addictive read but I begrudgingly had to take several days to get through due to work commitments, because once started, I did not want to put it down. There was a lot happening, so I realised that I needed to take a break and do a recap over the first book, LITTLE RED to re-familiarise myself with the plot points and the characters. It's twisted and Ms Lovelock didn’t impart the information too easily. I needed to make notes of who's who, and who had survived the carnage of LITTLE RED and made it into the pages of BLACK KNIGHT!!!!
I absolutely recommend reading these books in order so that an understanding of the dynamics between these families can be appreciated.
We got to know Landon Sinclaire in LITTLE RED as Hunter Wolfe's enforcer, and he was an enigma I wanted to know more about. He was created to be darkness personified, recruited and brought into the fold by Hunter and was loyal to those he loved and considered family. Then he went beyond the bounds of duty at the end of LITTLE RED. BLACK KNIGHT picked up his story from there, rushed into hospital in an extremely critical condition.
Viviane Gaines can't help her obsession with the stranger and haunted the hall outside of his room, wanting to check that he'd survived yet couldn't tell herself why. She had a heart of gold, but wasn't an overly trusting character having recently found disturbing family news.
A clash of eyes left a mark on both of them in an intense scene initial scene that Ms Lovelock builds on from there. It was a watershed moment for both him and Viviane, a physical therapist who happened to be at the hospital when he was brought in. She had nightmares that he'd not survived while he was convinced he’s envisaged an angel. When they finally actually met during his recovery, Landon's own obsession ramped up the tension of the book.
One thing I did love is the individual POV that included more than just our MMC and FMC. BLACK KNIGHT had another mysterious character's view which only added to the book’s allure. While I began to have my suspicions and picked up on a characteristic, the reveal and the connection took me by surprise. Ms Lovelock certainly kept her cards close to her chest on a number of things!!!
In my reading notes, I always ask myself who are the secondary characters I'd like to know more about and in BLACK KNIGHT I found two that were particularly of such interest to me that I pretty much re-read their interactions a few times trying to glean nuances of information that Ms Lovelock may have hidden. I'm obsessed with them and hope we'll see more 🙃

I received a copy of this book through one of my reader groups so I went in completely blind not knowing that this is book 2. Landon is a big protective teddy bear who will go above and beyond for those he chooses to call family which now includes Viviane. Our sweet Viv is just a girl with a instant infatuation with a handsome stranger who enters her life on the brink of death. Getting to experience her learning about her biological family and the dangers that surround them while also falling for a man that would burn the world down for her is an honor. This book sucks you in almost instantly and now I have to go back and read book 1 so that I can understand some of the smaller details of the book and the back story of these feuding families.

I really enjoyed this book, it was a little bit tricky for me to get in to at first but I think that might have just been because I haven’t read book one in this series. Once I got past that bit it all started to make sense and it went up from there.
This book in the series follow viviane and landon. These two meet under such strange circumstances but viviane feels this pull towards him that makes her want to keep coming back!
I honestly really enjoyed this book, it did take a bit for me to get in to so I’m guessing you need book 1 to full understand but otherwise was a great book.
I was lucky enough to receive an ARC of Black Knight and for that I am very grateful.

Quick Mafia read...
This is definitely a book where you must read book 1, Little Red.
Landon is the one healing from previous injury and the family friend who is the hired "death" creator.
I immediately fell for his character in the first book, so to really see who is in the book was sweet, he's still mysterious though. I wish the book went into more detail there.
Vivian is definitely a fire cracker who doesn't back down and even though her character decides to try and stay away, she's already been in the family, before she realizes it.
I will definitely say this is not how I expected this one to go, there is so much happening in it I want more. It's still a good read though, and I know it's an ongoing series.

This is the first book that I have read by this author. I read the entire book in one sitting and now I absolutely have to go back and read the previous book in the series. While it is possible to read this as a standalone I feel like it would be even better to read them in order. I definitely plan on adding more of her books to my neverending TBR list.
