I absolutely LOVE a good enemies-to-lovers, dark academy romance, and this book checked all my boxes!
Winter’s family has been exiled from the witch community, and from what we know, Thorne has every reason to hate her. The entire school turns their backs on Winter, leaving her an outcast who’s forced to fend for herself. Someone (or someone’s) are clearly out to get her, and putting her trust in the wrong person could be fatal. But it’s impossible to survive a place like this without at least a little help.
Since this book is only told from Winter’s POV, it’s hard to tell for sure who she can or cannot trust, but the not knowing adds a layer of suspense that helps to keep you on your toes the whole way through!
I was so not ready for this book to end and I’m really looking forward to reading book 2 when it releases! I need to know what happens next!!

I absolutely fell in love with this book the second I started it. As a long time fan of Becky Moynihan I knew this book was going to be a favorite.
I genuinely think Winter is up there as a favorite along side Kenna and Nora (My birthday twin).
This book was insanely well written and a 10/10 in my books. I seriously cannot wait for book two.

Winter has nightmares so vivid they feel real. She lives with her grandmother in a Victorian manor, and the atmosphere is beautifully described. The imagery in this book is incredible and really pulls you into the story. Winter is a witch, as is her grandmother, and I loved the extended opening that leads into her acceptance to the prestigious Heartstone Academy. The mention of magical trials immediately had my attention.
Despite a strong sense of foreboding, Winter is determined to attend the academy. She feels a deep responsibility to her family name and to witches who have been lost across the world. More than anything, she feels like she does not have a choice. Her motivation is less about desire and more about conviction, which makes her character really compelling.
From the start, she is warned to stay away from Thorne, which of course raises questions. There are hints of past tragedy and secrets that have not yet been fully revealed. The story leans into darker themes within the academic setting, so I would definitely recommend checking content warnings. The student body is harsh, and Winter faces both external challenges and her own internal struggles.
The dynamic between Winter and Thorne is intense. He clearly despises her, and their forced proximity creates constant tension. His elemental powers are impressive, and there is a strong morally grey presence to his character. At the same time, Winter is still dealing with survivor’s guilt, and we do not yet have the full picture of her past.
Their interactions are slow building but filled with tension. The enemies to lovers element is strong, with lines beginning to blur as the story progresses. There is a push and pull between innocence and darkness that adds to the emotional weight of their connection.
The Arcane Three add another interesting layer to the story. Their presence brings both intrigue and distraction, and I found myself wanting even more from those dynamics. The world itself feels complex, with a strong magical system and high stakes throughout.
As the story unfolds, the secrets, betrayal, and drama keep building. Just when it feels like things might settle, another twist pulls you back in. The ending especially leaves you needing the next book immediately.
I was fully immersed in Winter’s journey. Watching her grow from someone weighed down by her past into a stronger version of herself was really engaging. I do wish we had gotten Thorne’s point of view, especially with how their relationship develops, but Winter’s perspective carries the story well.
This is a darker academy read with emotional depth, strong tension, and a compelling world. Definitely check the author’s warnings if you are unsure about heavier themes, but if you enjoy morally grey characters, enemies to lovers, and magical academies, this one is worth diving into.

I loved this book! I loved the story between Winter and Thorne! You will go through all the emotions while reading this book . Winter is an outcast in her community and gets invited to go to a prestigious witch academy where she is remains an outcast. But she will not let that stop her. I can’t wait for book 2! This was my first book by this author but I am already looking for the next one!

Becky’s previous series were amazing so I wasn’t surprised when this one turned out amazing too!
One of my favourite tropes is Enemies to Lovers so when I saw this book had this trope I was beyond excited!
I loved how mysterious the beginning of the story was, it kept me wondering and had me eager to carry on. I really find Winter’s abilities interesting compared to other spellcasters that we meet along the way. It makes me think what abilities her brother will inherit when he comes of age.
The academy we start to learn about is very intriguing, as so many things had happened there. So much death that is either suicide or a murder covered up…it keeps you wondering on who you can actually trust.
Meeting the boys was my favourite especially when you got to know them more! I would have to say Riku is my favourite out of the three because he is hilarious, a flirt but knows how to take care of you too…he’s basically has golden retriever vibes. Ox is more keep to himself kind of guy, he’s smart but knows when to look after the people he cares about the most. And then there is Thorn…the most stubborn yet protective person there is. Once he has claimed something/someone as his, there is no way to change his mind.
I just loved the whole love and hate I got from Winter and Thorn. They have their steamy moments together before going back to hating one another. But with their situation it sort of gave my Romeo and Juliette vibes a little, as both of their families hate one another.
Throughout the rest of the story, there were many moments that had me guessing what was actually happening. There was a tense moment that had me glued to the pages just to know what will happen, I just love it when I book does that!
But by the end of the book I was shocked and have so many questions that needed answers! Especially when it finished on a cliffhanger and I NEED book 2 right now! But overall I really loved this story! I can’t wait for the next one so I can find out what will happen next x

Dark Witch: Heartstone Academy book one is set within the same universe as A Touch of Vampire and The Wolves of Midnight series, so the moment I knew of this book’s existence, I knew I had to read it as I absolutely love the other two series.
Dark Witch embraces darker/heavier themes than the previous series mentioned above, touching on Winter’s isolation as the community outcast, the extreme bullying by her classmates, and her own self-loathing toward her magic and its capabilities. My heart went out to her so many times. I just wanted to comfort her and defend her from everyone…including her reluctant allies—The Arcane Three. One is too forward with his behavior, one I felt was taking advantage, especially when she’s in such a vulnerable state…though to be fair, Winter didn’t seem to mind too much and was pretty receptive, and the third, is actually pretty timid…but the most mysterious, which I find to be extremely intriguing. I hope to learn more about him in future books. But with that said, Winter is more resilient than she gives herself credit for and has a fierce determination to prove she’s worth more than what she’s perceived to be. I really love that about her, and am looking forward to seeing her confidence in herself grow as the series continues.
Those who love a strong character who’s bound and determined to overcome adversity at every turn, witchy political intrigue, spicy enemies-to-lovers, mysterious deaths, cut-throat witchy trials, and a dark academia setting full of twists and turns will love this book. I know I do and I can’t wait to find out what happens next.

Dark Witch was phenomenal! It pulled me in quickly, and while I did guess one plot twist, there were others that I didn’t see coming.
It was dark. Emotional. HOT. 🥵 And fast paced enough that you never really had time to get bored, or even let your mind wander. I love that it’s connected to her other series (Touch Of A Vampire, and Wolves of Midnight) even though we have yet to see any of those characters in person, there are definitely nods that we will in the future, which has me STOKED!!
Thorne is absolutely delicious! 🤤 And his besties, Riku and Oz are lovable side characters, that I’m hoping, in Becky Moynihan fashion, will eventually wind up with their own books. I even have a guess already as to who one of them may end up with. 🤭🤫
And Bambi. Our sweet little doe-eyed FMC. She’s got a lot to unpack, but I’m so excited for the potential growth we can get from her in this series! I’m also looking forward to seeing her interactions with Alma as the series progresses, because I, like Riku, absolutely expect them to be frenemies. 🤭💕

I really enjoyed this introduction to the Magic side of this fantastic world!!
I had been anxiously awaiting this one for awhile! Having read the 10 books from the previous 2 series' in the world, I was curious to see the normal side of the witches. We'd seen a previous academy sure but it wasn't a big dive into the normal day-to-day. So mostly we've only really seen the fanatical, insane examples previously. I figured they can't all be like that. So it was nice to see the family side. I won't say day-to-day is calm, at least not in a cut-throat academy trying to breed new leaders, that is. But like the wolves and vampires, they have their own internal drama and politics.
You definitely understand a lot of the context when you've read the previous 2 series', because this book calls back to previous history in this world. But, its explained enough to where you aren't totally in the dark and don't necessarily have to read them first.
I am grateful to have gotten the opportunity to read this early and thank the author!

Dark Witch was right up my alley as a dark academia romantasy, which is one of my favorite subgenres. And it also had so many of the tropes I love. You get enemies-to-lovers tension, intense trials, and a storyline centered on a female main character determined to restore her family’s name after exile.
What really stood out to me was the emotional weight behind the FMC’s journey. She’s stubborn at times, but I get it. After everything she’s been through, the humiliation, the loss…her resilience makes her relatable. She keeps pushing forward no matter what.
There are darker elements, so I’d recommend checking trigger warnings beforehand.
I also loved the paranormal aspects, they added a unique edge to the world and made the story feel even more intriguing. And the trio of friends? One of my favorite parts. Their dynamic made me laugh and kind brought balance to the darker themes and to the romance plot.
Overall, if you’re into dark academia with fantasy romance, this one is definitely worth picking up.

This book was so good! Its full of twists and turns, drama, angst, hot and sexy moments and very emotional. It is fast paced and the characters are really well written.
It centers around Winter, a witch from an outcast family in the witch community.
She suffers being outcast for her familys crimes and she suffers from an accident happening a few years ago, which the has a lot of trauma from.
She somehow gets a letter from the most prestige school for witches, heartstone academy that she is accepted as a student for this year.
Here she is hated and an outcast. She gets warned about staying away from Thorne at all costs at the Academy. Of course this proves difficult and the tension between Winter and Thorne are high.
It is a slow burn, sexy, enemies to lovers.
I really loved this book and i cant wait to read the next.

I love the character development, the way things are described in such vivid detail that I can see the setting in my mind, and all the twists and turns that pop up. The throw backs to the other series are amazing too. No spoilers, but there was one at the end that had me gasping and jumping off the couch. If you don’t remember the prior ones clearly, you might want to go back and reread them before jumping into this one.

All of Becky’s books are fantastic, and this one was no different. I couldn’t put it down, couldn’t wait to see how it would play out, and also never wanted it to end.

Thank you for the ARC. This was such an exciting read. I read the book in two sittings. It was that good. So, there is a witchy college, a lovely and innocent FMC, a towering and moody MMC, a hatred between their families, backstabbing students, unhinged magic, trials, and love/attraction. There is spice, but not how you think. There is a story about why their families hate each other, and there are a few plot twists. Of course, there is a cliffhanger, so I was livid. The plot was good and the tension is there. We'll see what happens to Winter and Thorne. Will he go back to his old ways? Will she survive? Who knows... I enjoyed it very much. Can't wait to see what happens.

It’s been awhile since I last read an actual book series like this one. I’ve been reading webtoons and mangas lately. But I’m so happy I got a chance to start this one! It made me realize how much I enjoy this kind of genre and story type too. From the very start to end of this book I couldn’t stop reading. It really pulled me in. And I can’t wait to find out what happens next. I’ve read other series from this awesome author before. And each series has been great. I highly recommend her other stories too! And this one is turning out to be just as good so far!

Thank you for the advanced copy of this book. The book was good and Winter was an interesting character but I feel like nothing was revealed in this book. We don’t know what she can do, we don’t know why her family was exiled. Thorne is hot and the chemistry was good between them. I read a lot of reverse harem books and this is the perfect set up for one but of course it’s not that kind of book. For being a magical book I wanted more magic and a little less self hatred and angst. The book is well written and I’ll read the next one in the series because I do want to know what happens with the cliff hanger at the end of this book.

I'm so excited for this new series! Winter gets invited to the prestigious new academy for witches, despite her family having been shunned by the community. When the one person she was supposed to avoid, Thorne Hudson, becomes her mentor, everything becomes more complicated.

Man! What an amazing start to a story! I went through all the emotions reading Dark Witch. That feeling of not belonging was so amazingly translated onto those pages. The love story is blooming and spicy, the characters are relatable and brought more and more to life with each page, and the pages practically turn themselves. Read this book,.and prepare to groan in frustration when you realize that you have to wait for the next part!! Becky Moyniham continues to slay with each book she releases!

This was one of the first books I’ve ever read by this author, and I’m a hooked!
I love the way she builds the universe and setting the characters in. Truly amazing at how much depth and feeling each of the characters have. Plus the plot… oh the twists, the turns, the suspense with spice just kept the pages turning and me on the edge of me seat.
I have not read any of her previous books that are part of this series or worked, but I didn’t feel lost or confused. Definitely going back and starting from the beginning.

I enjoyed the book a lot , the story, the setting were great although the book mainly focused on the first deadly trial and it sounded as if it was not the main plot but it was indeed the main plot. I loved the characters, the tension between Thorne and Winter was so thick! Riky and Oz were crazy but best, the whole found family trope is my favorite! The only thing I missed was Thornes pov! I so wish if that could happen in the next book. But all in all I can't wait to see what happens next!! The ending left me shocked! What the he'll was that?!!! 👀😲 My Rating: 4.5 🌟

My first time reading a book from Becky Moynihan and I fell in love with it. The entire thing had me on the edge of my seat and let me tell you, I was not ready for that ending.
I absolutely love Winter. She is stubborn, and with all that she has been through, I get it. She gets a letter from Heartstone Academy where she is feeling alone.
Thorne is dangerous and that is wow. The attraction that both he and Winter have for another is high.
I am in need of the next book because I am still reeling from how this one ended.

This one just really didn’t do much for me. I liked the tension between Winter and Thorne. The witchcraft and trials really took a backseat which I found disappointing because I wanted to see more of that. When there were darker parts/scenes in the story, they were incredibly well done. The cliffhanger is solid and I will be continuing the next book. I know Oz wasn’t in the book a whole lot, but I will be requesting a book with his story.
BUT we gotta stop with the nicknames. Bambi and Snowflake? I cannot.

ARC book. What an emotional roller coaster. This book has me guessing the whole why through wandering who it was going after winter. The ending of this book was incredible and cannot wait to read the second book to find out what happens next and if Thorne is going to help her. This book had lots of story telling and character building. Slow burn. Enemies to lovers. Witches. Trials, and death. It had me right from the beginning.

This book was well written and the story was good. I did like the setting and how it built off the previous series in the world, but I didn’t really like the vibe as much, but it was probably me. I do feel like her earlier books were better, but this book was still good. The story progression of it and the pace was good, and so was the wording and story itself. U will likely enjoy it, it just didn’t hit the spot for me.

Ahh!! As usual with Becky’s Books I was HOOKED and couldn’t put it down once I started. The romance and spice was spot on!

This was a good start to the series. I’m always a fan of an academy setting, and this one had all the staples: bullies, mystery, and a sense of not belonging. The tension between Winter and Thorne is delicious. There are so many unanswered questions, and the ending was a real cliffhanger. I hope we get Thorne’s POV in the next installment and learn more about Oz’s backstory; he was very quiet. Excited for the next book.

More details about magic and the system were needed. It read like an urban fantasy with magic thrown in, randomly. Most of the time, a lot of the situations could be avoided by using the various spells already mentioned in the book, but....
The romance was there and honestly it would have been nicer to have more of the schools and training and trial described, compared to the romance.

Another BANGER!!!
I usually FLY through Becky Moynihan’s books, but with a recent death in the family, I took my time. Boy, was this book an escape!! I loved our MC’s - their dynamic is wild! The whole enemies to lovers vibe is IMMACULATE!! And the twist at the end - okay, MULTIPLE TWISTS - had me DEMANDING some answers!! I love that she left me wanting so much more of these characters, this universe and this story!!

I received this book as an ARC read and absolutely LOVED it. To get the witch POV after the vampire and werewolf POV it really feels like it's coming full circle. I absolutely love any interconnected series and this one isn't any different! Definitely read this book and Becky's vampire and werewolf romances to get the full picture) 10/10

Love love love!! When I started reading the book, I found myself not wanting to like the characters, because if you've read Becky's other books, you'll know the witches are BAD! But I could not hold onto that feeling. I absolutely love Winter and Thorne and have a soft spot for Riku! I cant wait to see how everything ties together at the end of the series (im ready for the next book please! 😀)
