Bleeding Oath

She was never supposed to be his. But the moment she broke… he was the one who caught her.

Katie thought she knew what love was—soft apologies, whispered promises, and the hope that the man she fell for would finally stay. But one brutal night shatters that illusion, leaving her with bruises and betrayal. She should walk away. She should run. She just never expected someone to be waiting on the other side.

Dark, the bassist of August Bleeding, has always lived loud—charismatic, reckless, the band’s notorious playboy with a grin that never promises anything real. But the moment he sees Katie broken and trembling, something in him snaps. Some lines aren’t meant to be crossed… and what was done to her is something he won’t forgive. He offers her a choice, a way out, a place to land. No strings. No pressure. Just safety. But Dark doesn’t do anything halfway, and the longer Katie is in his world, the more dangerous the truth becomes: the man who saved her has already decided she and her unborn baby are his to protect.

Katie and Darren have been together for years, but their relationship is toxic and abusive. Darren is a volatile alcoholic rockstar who repeatedly mistreats Katie, while she is kind, gentle, and far too good for him.

What should have been their anniversary celebration turns into a nightmare when Darren brutally attacks her. When Dark and the band arrive to help, Vinny can barely control his anger. Darren is sent to rehab, and Vinny takes Katie in to keep her safe—but also because he’s loved her from the start. He met her the same day Darren did, but Darren got to her first.

Watching Katie and Vinny grow closer was the highlight of the book. Their chemistry was intense, their connection felt genuine, and I loved seeing Katie finally receive the love and respect she deserved.

My only issue was the ending. Darren returns from rehab and is treated like the outcast he deserves to be, but then the story rushes through. I was confused and thought the three-month tour had happened, it didn’t. It jumps straight to the epilogue, that’s why I got confused. It felt abrupt, with too many loose ends left unresolved.

Overall, I really enjoyed the story and the couple. 4 stars—great romance, just not the strongest ending.

My Favorite Rockstar Romance Series is Back!!

Bleeding Oath isn't as heavy on the TWs as book two was. But in true Kunz fashion the FMC does have a past and lasting trauma. At times it's devastating but her resilience is profound.

This has easily turned into a favorite comfort drama series for me. I've been reading the August Bleeding series since the beginning and each one is so distinctly different, yet follows the same undertones and vibes making it such a cohesive series. Each book is like its own TV show season. So much is packed into a single book! The books are always so vivid and descriptive. As a reader I'm always immersed into the story.

Bleeding Oath. Did. Not. Disappoint. Kunz really brought the spice! The ropes, the ice, the wheelbarrow race…. You just need to read it, trust me. Dark is literally the sweetest and a great teacher in the bedroom with Katie. The way that Dark treats Katie outside the bedroom?! It was just beyond words. The devotion, care, and patience.

This book also had all of the other characters in there and had more drama and story building with them. Which I particularly enjoyed. I'm very curious how book four is going to play out.

ARC Review

This book takes us back to the band again, this time focusing on the bassist—the easygoing one, the sharp-witted comic relief who always kept things light.

But there’s always been more beneath the surface, and here we finally start to see it. He’s still funny and effortlessly charming, but also layered, steady, and far more emotionally deep than he’s ever been given credit for.

His protective nature shows up in quiet, grounding ways—being present, being consistent, being the one you can lean on when everything else feels unstable. It’s not loud or showy, but it’s constant, and it hits hard.

And yes… we also get some spice 🌶️ which adds even more intensity to their connection and makes everything feel even more charged.

Overall, this book felt like finally seeing a character I already loved in full focus. Funny, complex, protective, and quietly devastating in the best way.

Bleeding Oath By S.L Kunz arc review 📚

Bleeding Oath is the third book in the August Bleeding series , and I think it’s my favourite one yet !

In this book we follow along Katie and Dark the bassist of August Bleeding . It’s the perfect mixture of plot , and spice . The way S.L writes just pulls you in . The funny moments between the two , the sweet and caring moments of Dark will have you swooning and wishing you had a 6’5 tattooed up bassist kissing the ground you walk on.
Dark is just so caring and patient with Katie after the event happens at the start of the book , just how a man should be treating his partner. He will literally do anything for her to make sure she is loved and taken care of . I found myself swooning at some parts between them .
Katie is a strong FMC , just coming out of a rough relationship . She thankfully has a village to help her.

I loved that Dark was there to help Katie after what Darren had done to her. To take her in and protect her, take care of her. They should’ve been together from the start, damn Darren for getting there first. But the two are finally where they should be. And I was at least glad to see that Darren went to rehab. This was a really intense and emotional story, but definitely worth the read. I didn’t like that the end rushed through everything though. Would’ve been nice to have a few more pages for it to end smoothly.

Another great one in the August Bleeding series. The absolute adoration that Vinny (Dark) has for Katie is to be jealous of. We all deserve a love like they have. I cannot enough about how I am enjoying this series and this book. All I can say is READ IT. Thank you BookSirens for the advanced copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Book 3 in the series grabbed me from the start. Katie and Vinny's (Dark) story is outstanding. After tragic events leave Katie broken and vulnerable, Vinny steps up to help her heal inside and out. Its a compelling story of patience and trust leading to love and all the feels.

I loved this book.

I received an advanced copy and am leaving an honest review.

I was completely absorbed in Katie and Dark's (Vinny) story. This book is so different from the other books in this series. Vinny is very caring and patient, he shows Katie what true love is. Can't wait to read the next book. I received this book for free from BookSirens, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
