If disaster ever struck, everyone in the Burrows family knew the plan. They had prepped for disaster and terrorist situations for years by quietly training, stockpiling food, and learning about America’s enemies.
But reality and planning are two different things.
When a nuclear bomb explodes in Atlanta and airplanes start falling out of the sky because of an EMP attack, they realize that in order for the family to survive they will need to find a way to get to each other, all the while, facing their Worst Case Scenario.
Allen is a passionate writer and storyteller. He mixes faith and fiction into something that is enjoyable and vibrant. He has three series available on Amazon: Worst Case Scenario, Collapsing World, and Underlying Grace.
Look for the new book: Justin Flowers and the Orb of Time to release Spring 2018.
When he is not writing, Allen balances being a devoted husband and father with a lifelong career in sales coaching and management. He is an active member in his church in Birmingham, and routinely helps his wife plan and lead mission trips to Central America.
I really enjoyed the character development as I got into the story. The change in Grace once she realized that the event she had been training for with her family had happened was well written.
I could write a novella on how much I like this book, but I have to read book two in this series.
I will definitely read the second book and any other books in this series. I enjoyed it immensely and recommend it to anybody who's into post-Apocalypse type of books.
It starts with a not uncommon premise of a family in different locations when a multi-pronged nuclear and EMP attack occur. It then appears to be a case of those prepared (and I mean really prepared) and those not prepared and immediately lose their minds. It doesn't seem reasonable that so many people would become would-be murders and rapists just hours after the attack. While Grace earns some admiration for being calm and prepared as she heads home with her friend, she doesn't seem fazed at all by killing two people. This was a very, very short book and along with some editing issues, the prose is often stilted and wooden. Still, I am mildly interested in what happens so will likely continue with the series to see if everyone makes it home OK.
Starts kind of slow. It's one of those converging story lines. A few characters experiencing an event(in this case an E.M.P). Of course the main , characters have been training for this because...... Apocalypse!!! It's not bad in as much as you still like the main players even though they are unbelievably prepared with items, intelligence and operational understanding. Right when it gets into a good story groove you get hit with the "aww it's the end of book one, tune in next week...etc., etc. I will get the next one soon but this is on the list for a good right before bed read.

This is a good start for a Apocalypses' series. I enjoyed it very much. It has good strong characters and plot. No sexual content but does have some violence. I would recommend for teens and up. I only gave it four stars because it is a short story and I only give up to four for short stories.
I read a lot of apocalyptic type novels and this one was just so-so imho
It did move quickly along and is fairly short, but it seemed overly contrived in some parts - as though drama was created just for the sake of it being there (like reality tv shows).
It kept me interested. Good characters navigating difficult situations. The take is believable, it seems the author did a good research. My only complaint is that the book needs more editing. However, I could continue reading despite that.
The story could possibly be a good one but the writing can be quite stilted. The fact that all the characters are somehow related just makes it so impossible!
I just finished "Book 4" of this "series" — really, the first 5 "books" together make up about half of a good novel. But they're all free on Amazon KindleFree or whatever they call it, so no complaints.
Decent doomsday scenario, like a cross between Red Dawn, Bourne Identity and…I don't know, some family-of-preppers-vindicated-by-circumstance foo.
The usual caveats apply — like most post-apocalypse & zombie fare out there this is low-grade genre fiction. But with my expectations dialed to a sufficiently low setting I can appreciate the TEOTWAWKI stories that are better told/written than others.
If you want action from start to finish, this is the series for you. Follow the Burrows family as they face their worst case scenario and try to get back together. If you are a prepper, and you think you have it all together...think again.
