The Malhutan Series #1

The Malhutan Proxy

Rate this book
This is the introductory piece to the Malhutan series of SciFi mystery stories. When it first appeared in my story collection, The Baylah Run, it was written as an experimental story.

In fiction, characters are typically people, but they can also be animals, alien beings or in cases such as Star Trek or Firefly, even an object such as a spaceship. I decided to push that a step further and wrote “The Malhutan Proxy” which used the non-competitive society/culture as a character.

The positive reader response to the Malhutan setting encouraged me to follow it up with a series of Malhutan murder-mystery novellas, which will continue to explore the Malhutan culture and society, while entertaining and challenging readers.

- Noel Coward

"Willed introversion, in fact, is one of the classic implements of creative genius and can be employed as a deliberate device...This is a basic principle of the Indian disciplines of yoga...Rather, it is a deliberate, terrific refusal to respond to anything but the deepest, highest, richest answer to the as yet unknown demand of some waiting void within."

Great introduction to this future world set of stories. Devon Hathaway is sent by his firm to the nation of Malhutan to extricate the son of one of his firm's prominent clients. Malhutan is a nation of enigmas to the rest of the world with its ability to extend life, and its ideology of everything being for the good of all. Ideologies and abilities at odds with the regimes ruling the rest of the planet.

Devon must learn to navigate the society of Malhutan as he tries to figure out how to get his client safely back home. If he doesn't succeed, he loses his job. However, he makes a friend who helps him understand more than just Malhutan society, but himself as well, complicating his mission.

I loved this story!
