I go to him because a man breaks into my apartment, rearranges my underwear drawer, and leaves a note that says "I'll see you soon" — and the police tell me to buy better locks.
Eric Easton runs the largest private security firm on the planet. His clients are presidents, billionaires, people who make headlines. He's forty-five, silver-haired, six-four, and built like the last man you'd ever want to fight. He's also, technically, my stepfather.
I show up at his company expecting a consultation. A bodyguard. Maybe a pamphlet that's actually useful.
He comes down to the lobby himself. Looks at me with steel gray eyes that make me forget my own name. Listens to every word I say about the stalker without once suggesting I'm overreacting. And then he says words that rearrange my entire
"You're staying with me."
I argue. He doesn't budge. I'm in his penthouse before I can calculate the odds of this being a terrible idea. (They're high. I'm a mathematician. I've run the numbers.)
Then my breast pump breaks.
In his bathroom. On his floor. And the condition I've been managing alone for months — the one where my body produces milk I can't explain — suddenly has no management and no solution except the man on the other side of the door.
He offers his hands. Then his mouth. Then there's the orgasm I don't see coming that leaves us both standing in his bathroom pretending we haven't just crossed every line that exists between stepfather and stepdaughter and something else entirely.
Every two hours. That's the schedule. His hands on me. His mouth on me. The relief I can't get anywhere else because he never replaces the pump — and I stop wanting him to the day I look at him in a CVS parking lot and say three words that aren't "I need you."
They're "I want you."
He's supposed to be my bodyguard.
My stalker is still out there. My mother thinks I'm a scandal. My body is changing in ways I don't plan for.
And the man who is supposed to protect me from danger becomes the most dangerous thing in my life — because falling for your stepfather bodyguard while he milks you every two hours isn't in any equation I've ever solved.
Just no. Too many unanswered questions. Why would a billionaire marry an influencer for 14 days? Where is her actual dad? Did she get help for her crippling medical condition - lactating and needing to express every two hours. Why two epilogues introducing kids. I will not be charmed by kids doing shouty things.
There is ridiculous, implausible, tedious and all the rest of that, but this book surpasses those states and more.
Yep. I can close this chapter ( all of the author's back catalogue) right now.

Everly’s mom was married to Eric for 14 days years ago. She never met him. Everly has a stalker. After he breaks into home, the police give her a pamphlet about better locks and changing her patterns. Eric owns a security company. When Everly asks him for help he moves her into his guest room. There’s some funny conversations between them. His doing a threat assessment of doctors and hospitals was priceless LOL. HEA with a few epilogues.
Ok this one was a pretty good book. The kids made it! Not really a whole lot of steamy moments. Though, I once again want to know why the mother cares?! Why did they even get married? Most of these say that they tricked them into thinking they're better people than they actually are. Or that they just wanted a paycheck. There was none of that mentioned. I do appreciate the labor scene. That & the children made this a 3 star. Would only recommend if you know this author's work & you like it. Or to use it as a palate cleanser. On to the next.
