Meat Cute: MM Shifter Romance

Rate this book
Wesley is a disgrace to the moon.

As a werewolf, he should be ripping throats and howling at the stars. Instead, he’s a strict vegan who faints at the sight of rare steak and apologizes to squirrels. He’s the pack disappointment, surviving on tofu and shame.

There’s only one thing that tempts his inner Bear.

Bear isn’t a shifter. He’s the massive, bearded, blood-splattered human who owns the artisanal butcher shop down the street. He handles cleavers like extensions of his own thick arms and smells like smoke, iron, and pure, unadulterated masculinity.

Wesley has no business in a butcher shop. Yet, he finds himself buying enough "bones for the dog" to build a skeleton army, just to watch Bear’s biceps flex as he chops.

When a disastrous attempt at flirting ends with Wesley shifting in the middle of the shop floor, he expects a scream. He expects a shotgun.

He doesn't expect Bear to lock the front door, wipe his bloody hands on his apron, and look at the trembling wolf with a hunger that has nothing to do with meat.

Wesley is about to learn that you don’t have to be a carnivore to get devoured.

A vegan werewolf shifter sees a butcher and falls into like, then awkwardly stalks him until he gets the courage to ask him out on a date. When he does get said courage, he accidentally shifts in front of his crush and his secret is exposed. It's a pretty mundane story after that, and is mostly about their connection developing and the werewolf's family and their views. You can definitely tell this MM romance was written by a male, and I won't be expounding upon that any further.

It definitely feels like the end of the book should have happened at the close of chapter 11. It had a natural conclusion and I honestly thought that it was the ending. Chapter 12 starts a whole new set of problems and with only 30 pages to go in a ~100 page book. Kind of unnecessary when things are all said and done.

1/5 peppers on the spice scale. Nothing incredibly exciting about the smut. It was either a blow job, or a blow job that ended in Wesley "riding" Bear. A lot of scenes fade to black, and when things do happen on page, the author isn't very descriptive so it's all "meh" in general.

This wasn't a horrible way to pass the time, but it just wasn't my favorite.
