I had mixed feelings about it. The premise centers on a best friend’s brother romance with a second chance feel, and it’s definitely a light, easy read you can get through pretty quickly.

There were a few bright spots that I appreciated. The friendship between the FMC and her best friend stood out and felt genuine, and I liked how driven and ambitious the FMC was. Those elements added a nice layer to the story.

That said, I had a hard time connecting overall. The FMC spent a lot of time in her head, which made it difficult for me to fully invest in her perspective. I also felt like the story was missing some depth, especially with only one POV. K’Nario’s backstory and motivations (being gone for ten years, navigating his long standing feelings for Solene, and his complicated relationship with his dad) had a lot of potential, but we don’t really get to explore them in a meaningful way. A dual POV could’ve added more balance and emotional weight.

Overall it’s a low angst romance that some readers will enjoy, especially if you’re looking for something quick and easy to read. For me, though, it didn’t fully come together in the way I was hoping but I’ve liked other books by this author, so I’m open to trying more.

Teenage Love Affair!

It was a sweet and beautiful story about a woman that just wanted peace, love, and to fulfill her dreams. Her life is busy with working, school, her daughter, and immature baby daddy she has no time for games or a social life. She’s truly loved one man all her life but he was off limits. Time nor distance could keep the way Solene felt about her teenage crush, K’nario at bay after finally seeing him years later. All her feelings came rushing back at once she refused to act on them like a child. He sees his opportunity and lets her know the feelings have always been there for him as well. He shows her through trial and error with time when she’s with him he can be all she needs and wants in a man father for her daughter.

K'nario and Solene!!

K'nario is Solene's best friend's, Kaelis, brother. He was sent away while he was a senior in high school due to his behavior issues so it was ten years before they saw each other again. K'nario and Solene getting together was something that they both wanted since they were younger. I loved the way K'nario protected and loved on Solene and Renny. Solene was about her business, and I loved that she had goals that K'nario fully supported. Solene's baby daddy was trash who I didn't feel sorry for when he got the hands. K'nario's daddy also got on my nerves because of the way he treated K'nario. I was glad that K'nario's mama made him get some get right quick, fast and in a hurry. This book was enjoyable, and I highly recommend it.

When I’m with you

This story was just okay to me. I found Solene to be a bit annoying for almost half the book but I enjoyed her character more once she stopped assuming things about K’nario and started asking questions for what she wanted to know. I loved K’nario’s protectiveness and the way he love on Solene and Renny. I wished the couple had better communication in the beginning, but I was pleased when they started communicating more and expressed their feelings for each other.

great read!!!

This was a great book! I’m a sucker for romance and enjoyed how they had each others backs and got there happily ever after. I would love to see Kaelis tell her story in the future.
