Thoughts
First off, let me start by saying if you're someone who truly resonates with the saying "music saved my me; my life" then this book is for you! Secondly, even though it says if you enjoyed Daisy Jones and The Six you'll enjoy this, take it from me as someone who loves TJR's books hers was a four star read this one is infinite stars! I knew this book was gonna be emotional since this author talks about how music saved her life on her tiktok but I didn't realise there was gonna be this much emotional depth and trauma, the characters were written ever so beautifully, actually the writing style overall you wouldn't think this is her first book!
The story follows two lives caught up in trauma but also something deeper than coincidence. When I tell you this story broke and put my heart together more than once as the mystery unfolded... Zach and Kit💔 -- added to the list of characters I'm never forgetting 😭 their story was portrayed so beautifully, it was nothing short of an emotional rollercoaster, I won't lie I did in fact shed a few tears.. I wasn't expecting to be so immersed into their world but I quite literally couldn't book the book down!
Another aspect that made me love this book so much is that you can literally feel the author's love and admiration for Sleep Token, through the usage of their songs throughout, I personally love when you can sense pieces of authors in their own books, I mean that's the whole point is it not? If you're looking for your next emotional, raw read with layered characters then this is definitely for you.

I will try to keep this as spoiler free as possible while still somehow communicating all my many thoughts about this book. Any specific details mentioned in this review are only there because I deemed them to not be significant enough to spoil the actual plot. They’re just smaller little things that I liked and wanted to mention, but I thought I’d give this warning for people who are looking at reviews without having read it yet.
I am. awestruck. I really just have to go back and rethink everything I’ve read after finishing this book. It was a serious rollercoaster of emotions, and it was really difficult in places. Zach and Kit are amazing main characters and were wonderful to read about. What initially interested me about this book was obviously the Sleep Token inspiration, and I was not disappointed in the slightest. For those that are fans, the references are all over this book, but not in an intrusive way; in a natural way. I got a great amount of joy in spotting every single one of them.
The heavy, heavy topics dealt with in this book are handled so incredibly carefully and realistically, and it put into words something I could never even think of how to say myself. Although it’s difficult, the hardships in this book, the low points for the characters, the difficult decisions, the loss, the mistakes, and everything else, were SO worth it, and were so INCREDIBLY well written. The complexity of the characters, the unique relationships, the pure humanity of them all, showing that they really aren’t perfect at all, means so much to me and I really appreciate reading it. I’m a big fan of Greek mythology, so I enjoyed those references as well and the presence of mythological figures.
I was enraptured by this book from the very beginning, trying to connect all the little pieces of information that were slowly revealed, and infer as much about the characters and plot as possible while catching all of the PLENTIFUL Sleep Token references. I really feel like I am talking in circles while trying to write this review because I just have SO many thoughts and so much to say I don’t even think I can explain it all. I think most people don’t connect with music as strongly or in the same way as Zach does, but I very much do. Her explanations as to how much Somnium changed her life really hit home for me because music in general, particular artists/bands, and Sleep Token specifically changed my life exactly in the way she described and it makes me feel so validated and so not alone, so, truly, thank you for that. There are such heavy emotions throughout this whole novel in a lot of different ways, which I personally love and I think adds so much to the depth of the story. That is something I thought about while reading the whole book, the depth. The strong emotions, the heavy topics, the conflicts, the difficult decisions, and everything that wasn’t easy about this book made it so much stronger and more meaningful, and in my opinion that just signals good writing; not romanticizing or sugarcoating the hard things, writing realistically and making writing choices that are in-character rather than making them easier to swallow. A lot of the characters that weren’t necessarily main characters I really loved, their presence added a lot of warmth to the story which was wonderful. I loved the importance/story of the necklace staying relevant throughout the whole book and what it symbolizes for their characters and growth. I loved the relationships between characters, and all the tiny details. I love that Kit has synesthesia, it makes so much sense. I love Zach’s tattoo, it’s so meaningful and symbolic. I think really what I am trying to say is just that I absolutely love pretty much everything about this book and I don’t even know how to describe it.
A little bit heavier spoiler territory (just for this paragraph), still nothing that explicitly gives away any important details of the plot, just a warning: I loved their first meeting scene, when they met for the first time OUTSIDE of the mask in the bathroom. It was so conflicting though because I simultaneously thought it was really funny, confusing, endearing, AND embarrassing, all at the same time. The ending though. Gods, what can I even say about the ending. It was so emotionally gratifying, and it genuinely feels like it took a physical weight off my shoulders. The closure in itself warmed my heart immensely, but after all of that, I am so glad they got the ending they so thoroughly deserved (including Endymion, however conflicting he was).
Throughout my reading this book, I kept a kind of annotation journal to keep track of all my thoughts and everything I would usually annotate for in a physical book. My intention was to go back through it to write my review based on my experience throughout the whole book, but, like I’ve said, I genuinely have/had so many thoughts and feeling about this book that it genuinely would be a novel of its own. I ended up writing probably a paragraph worth of annotations for most chapters. It was amazing.
Truly my only advice or explanation about this book for people who are looking at reviews trying to determine whether or not to read it would be: please do. Please read this book. It’s so deep, and well-written, and just wonderful all around, I don’t know what else I can say.

I just finished this book, and I don't think there are enough words to do it justice.
I think it's easy to fall into stories that follow predictable formulas. There's comfort in that simplicity. This book, however, completely stepped outside those norms, weaving mythology, fantasy, music, and romance together in a way that felt both ambitious and effortless.
This is why I read.
This story reminded me why the written word must never die. Stories like this deserve to be shared with the world.
What impressed me most was the sheer depth of it. There are so many layers here, and readers can choose how deeply they want to engage. You can enjoy it as a romance, immerse yourself in the Sleep Token vibes, or explore the deeper themes of ascension, transformation, and spiritual enlightenment.
The latter is where I fall.
The story of Kit and Zachary will stay with me forever. I'm grateful this book exists, and even more grateful that it's one I can return to whenever I need a reminder of who truly holds the power.
The musical element made me love it even more because the way I feel about writing is the same way I feel about music. Without either of them, I wouldn't be who I am. I love how music is used as a vehical to carry the concept that music ascends, it connects us all. It's frequency. That message echoes throughout every page of this book, loud and clear.

I would be remiss if I didn't encourage readers to check the content warnings before diving in. This story explores some incredibly heavy topics, and I encourage you to be mindful of both your heart and your mental well-being while reading.

I went into this book already knowing it was inspired by Sleep Token, and I was excited to see how those themes would be woven into an original story. Overall, I really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was immersive, the emotional tension landed well, and I found myself invested in the characters from the beginning. There were several moments that genuinely hooked me, and I never felt like I wanted to put the book down.
That said, there were a few things that kept it from being a full five stars.
The biggest one for me was the writing style. It’s very lyrical and descriptive, which I know a lot of readers will love, but at times it crossed into what felt like purple prose. Nearly every emotional beat was wrapped in elaborate metaphors or poetic imagery. Phrases like “Lids heavy, they flutter like moth wings” are a good example of the style. It’s beautiful on occasion, but after a while it became repetitive enough that I found myself noticing the prose more than the story itself.
I also struggled a little with the structure. The shifts in timelines and perspectives eventually came together, but while I was reading, they sometimes made the narrative feel fragmented. There were moments where I had to stop and reorient myself before I could fully settle back into the story. It wasn’t confusing enough to take away from the experience, but it did interrupt the flow for me.
As for the Sleep Token inspiration, I expected it going in, but I was surprised by just how direct some of the references were. I was hoping for something that captured the same emotional atmosphere while standing more independently. Instead, there were several moments that felt less like inspiration and more like recognizable callbacks. Whether that’s a positive or a negative will probably depend on how big of a Sleep Token fan you are. Personally, I would’ve preferred a little more distance between the source material and the story.
Even with those critiques, I genuinely enjoyed this book. The emotional core is strong, the characters kept me invested, and I was eager to keep reading from beginning to end. If you’re looking for an atmospheric, emotionally driven romance with dark themes and don’t mind a more poetic writing style, this is absolutely worth picking up.

I also struggled a little with the structure. The shifts in timelines and perspectives eventually came together, but while I was reading, they sometimes made the narrative feel fragmented. There were moments where I had to stop and reorient myself before I could fully settle back into the story. It wasn’t confusing enough to take away from the experience, but it did interrupt the flow for me.
As for the Sleep Token inspiration, I expected it going in, but I was surprised by just how direct some of the references were. I was hoping for something that captured the same emotional atmosphere while standing more independently. Instead, there were several moments that felt less like inspiration and more like recognizable callbacks. Whether that’s a positive or a negative will probably depend on how big of a Sleep Token fan you are. Personally, I would’ve preferred a little more distance between the source material and the story.
Even with those critiques, I genuinely enjoyed this book. The emotional core is strong, the characters kept me invested, and I was eager to keep reading from beginning to end. If you’re looking for an atmospheric, emotionally driven romance with dark themes and don’t mind a more poetic writing style, this is absolutely worth picking up.

Where do I begging? I thought this book was a rollercoaster of emotions for me. I should start by highlighting the following:
* The brilliant idea of using ST songs to introduce not only a higher consciousness (the god) but to provide the reader a sense of meaning through the chapters.
* The POV as a gap filling way to submerge us into Zach and Kit's lives and silent struggles.
* If you remove Sleep Tokens influence you'll still be able to find an emotional story that will trigger inner demons you thought were dead within you.
Now, the story.
I approached this book thinking it was another love story, but I was wrong. This is not just story telling, this is raw survival, it is a testimony of someone who felt lost and found peace through music and writing I know this because it's exactly how I feel when no one is around. I could not relate more to the characters Zach and Kit who are broken and still manage to show up to work everyday, to keep going, to laugh and enjoy, but when reality checks they can help but hate themselves.
As I read more and more I realize that the message of this book is actually the journey of loving and forgiving yourself for you to be able to love someone else, otherwise you'll rot from inside out. I found myself crying towards the lasts chapters because the realization struck me hard; this was not about two people loving each other but healing, prioritizing themselves in an attempt to protect the other. Then, path crosses to be able to receive the love they want.
This book is beautifully written and allows you to visualize the scenes so vividly, the words chosen carefully to reference the band and still tell a wonderful story, the longing, the humanity even from the god. All of it is just mesmerizing.
I ultimately believe that Sleep Token here is just a vessel (see what I did there 😉) to showcase the power of music and the repercussions of reaching thriving souls, as it makes us feel seen, united, and it makes us realize that we are indeed not okay, but more importantly we are not alone as ST unides the threads of millions around the world.
I can go on for hours about the reasons why you should give this book a chance, but if you ever felt alone in a room full of people this one is for you.

It can be difficult for some writers to create compelling leads that the reader can empathize with, but here, Armst shines. Zach’s story is one of heart-rending connection and loss, and just when reunion feels so close, loss once more. Similarly, Kit (inspired by Sleep Token’s Vessel) carries the weight of his own past like armor into a daily war of his own making. He is both warrior and sufferer in each choice he makes.
If Sleep Token’s music contains a pervasive hero or villain, it is the Self. And through our leads, Armst reminds us that the battle within the self is nothing new. Older than gods, these cycles continue. It’s something Kit and Zach grapple with throughout the novel. That heavy weight in your heart and stomach? I thoroughly enjoyed Brianne’s writing and this incredible story. Every time I sat down to read, it sucked me in immediately. The character names are so clever, and as a fan, I absolutely loved all the lyric references, the intentional lore, and the subtle (and not so subtle) nods to Sleep Token.
But honestly? Even if you aren’t a Sleep Token fan, this book will reach you! Interwoven with all the mythological and metaphysical elements, it’s really just a story about two flawed people trying to navigate a crazy life that no one could have prepared them for. The characters are beautifully broken, and their healing journeys feel so real, messy, and deeply relatable. I loved how their fates were tied together every step of the way and how their relationship developed. The pacing was spot on, not rushed but not dragged out either. I laughed, I cried, and I felt every single emotion.
There were a few moments here and there where the writing felt a bit too intricate or overly complex, but it didn't take away from this beautiful story about trauma, grief, healing, and the way music connects people on so many levels.
I highly recommend Thread the Needle to anyone who has ever stumbled in life while trying to find meaning and purpose, dealt with grief and loss, or tried to find love while still learning to love themselves. Brianne is a super talented writer, and I can’t wait to read more from her!

As a huge Sleep Token fan, my initial thought was, "This reminds me of being a teenager on Wattpad" and I mean that in the absolute best way possible. I lost count of how many fanfictions I read back in the 2010s, and this gave me that exact same unputdownable obsessive feeling. I didn't just read this book I absorbed it.
The slow burn is EXCRUCIATING, and I loved every second of it. I'd be lying if I said I didn't yell at the pages a few times just begging them to kiss or do ANYTHING! I could feel my soul being slowly ripped from my body the further I went and honestly? I was so here for it.
Word of advice: maybe don't read this at work or in public. Not for the spice factor, but because I was literally sitting at my desk chanting "don’t cry, don’t cry, don’t cry" right when my boss walked in. I had to awkwardly explain that I was in emotional shambles over a piece of literary gold.
This book covers some really heavy topics that hit me harder than expected, perhaps because my own recovery hasn’t been linear either and the struggle still be struggling sometimes.
Massive props to Brianne for all the Sleep Token references. Every time I came across one, the biggest smile spread across my face. Despite the emotional heaviness, those moments gave me the perfect little serotonin boosts. Plus, I’m a total sucker for a happy ending, and this did not disappoint.

**ARC Read Review**
Where do I start? First of all, I’m a huge Sleep Token fan. Second, I absolutely loved this book. Third, what do you mean this is her first book?!
The writing is beautiful - highly descriptive, eloquent, with tons of Sleep Token song and lore references. Even if you’re not a huge fan, I think most people would enjoy the story. Character development is so good that it’s impossible not to feel emotions or get submerged in the story.
Kit and Zach’s story is tragically delicious and unique. I’m not going to lie - I was skeptical. I tend to read fast, figure out plot twists faster, and I can get bored easily with the same trope. Not this book! I was enthralled, and I put off reading the last 10% for a week because I didn’t want the story to end. Also, there are a few Sleep Token inspired novels out now - I think this one is my favorite. It’s more realistic and relatable than some of the others, although not mundane by any means. It does have a teeny tiny bit of magic - the lore must fit somewhere! Perfectly balanced.
I will say, if tragedy and tension aren’t your thing and/or you don’t know about string theory (the threads that interconnect matter/souls/etc.), you might not enjoy this book as much as I did. It’s a romance, and there is one scene I would consider half closed-door. One pepper spice level, in my opinion. Honestly, I don’t care about spice level although I do enjoy it. I care more about description, verbiage, plot, flow, and character development when I read. This book had it all, and more. If the author is writing more, I’m definitely reading. Sign me up!

Thread the Needle broke me and then remade me in the best way possible! I am a big fan of Sleep Token. I found their music a little over two years ago. Honestly, their music got me through the hardest thing I have ever had to process. This book embodies that process, explaining how music can heal a broken soul and thread it back together with lyrics and harmony. Thread the Needle has everything: crying, laughter, love, and music. It brought two of my favorite things together into one: my love of reading and listening to music. I felt like I was back in the stands, feeling the crowd's energy and singing my heart out to my favorite songs, while sitting on my couch, reading this outstanding novel.
If you have ever been brought to tears, or felt something listening to music, or been swept away during a live performance, this is the book for you! Armst does an incredible job of describing exactly how music can stitch a soul back together while learning to live with trauma, loss, and sobriety.

I went into this book anticipating your average popular booktok read filled to the brim with smut. I was immensely incorrect, and grateful to be. This book was fantastic. I was hooked from the humor off rip, adored the sprinkling of inclusiveness of different sexualities and cultures all throughout, and was moved beyond what I could've imagined this book would accomplish by the end. This isn't just a romance novel, but a story of two broken souls learning to heal themselves rather than the cliche of healing eachother. The characters are all fleshed out beautifully; I intended at first to read and just casually picture Vessel and the boys but that very quickly became impossible as I fell in love with all the characters and their individuality. I finished the final page of this book sobbing, mourning the loss of this incredible story that ended up consuming my mind for the past week, and know it will hold a place with me for years to come. To anyone who loves Sleep Token, and to anyone who just simply needs a story to help them through their own internal struggles, I can't recommend this book enough.

From the trauma of Zach and Kit and the threads that bring them together, the healing, the love, the emotions. GAHHH! I just want to scream from the rooftops about how this book made me feel and how much I love it. Just like Sleep Tokens music, it broke me and remade me. This is one I will never forget.
This is my first ARC experience so thank you Brianne for allowing me to read it! You are so talented and SO LOVED! I cannot wait to see what more you have in store.

I honestly didn’t think I was going to like this. Knowing this was inspired by a favorite band, for me it’s hard to separate real life and fiction works. Like hearing a cover of a favorite song.. it just doesn’t sound as good.. it doesn’t feel the same.
This book swallowed me whole. In the best way possible.
Two souls who have “met” before in the past and something is pulling them together, but also pushing them apart. They know each other’s struggles and faults, they cherish them. Ugh.

This is definitely an emotional rollercoaster between Kit and Zach, but I will ride this rollercoaster over and over again. These two were *chefs kiss* these two are in the top 10 of book soulmates for me. (Maybe top 5!)
The story pulled me in and the flashbacks kept me hooked because the fates entwined is always going to be my favorite!

What an emotional roller-coaster this was, I really enjoyed this and felt this was different than anything I've read. Kit and Zach have been through some traumatic things from near death experiences to addiction and dealing with depression. This is the epitome of music saved my life. Even if you're not a sleep token fan, I feel like anyone can relate to this where music makes you feel like you can get through some of your darkest moments. I thought this was beautifully written and you can tell Brianne put her heart and soul into this. It truly makes you feel like no matter what you're going through you're not alone and music keeps us connected.
Also I loved the little sleep token easter eggs in it❤️

The author truly did phenomenal work on this book. As a huge Sleep Token fan I was excited to read it, but what she did with the story was so far past just being inspired by the lore. While I struggled a bit with the choice of one of the character’s names, it didn’t draw away from the story at all. Each of the main characters had depth & soul you could feel within the pages. I loved the way she gave us a ping pong style background in the beginning, then really got into the storyline seamlessly without making you think you may have missed an important plot line. Every page had descriptions of the scene that allowed me to envision exactly what was described without being too wordy. I simply cannot say enough how well this was written & how much I loved it.

If you love Sleep Token, get ready to go further down the rabbit hole with easter eggs galore. This is a a deep, dark story with beautiful mental health representation. The characters are rich and you are immediately drawn to them and rooting for them. Sleep Token inspired but definitely NOT a fanfic! While this has lots of nods to song lyrics it maintains a unique story. I really enjoyed this book and feel I learned a lot of new British terminology. You can tell the author has a big appreciation for the arts. The very intentional inclusion of scents in scene descriptions really helps build connection to the plot. The emphasis on personal growth and doing things even when they scare you is something we can all learn from. Definitely worth the read.

This book was really enjoyable to read and I liked how the different songs that the band sleep token has written were mentioned. This book was also very emotional, and relays heavily on the “music saved my life” theme, while not my personal favorite I do think the author was able to go about it in a way which didn’t have me cringing/getting second hand embarrassment. Moral of the story this was a well written book and is very memorable for me.

ARC read. I requested this because I love Sleep Token and I haven’t read anything quite like the description. It has been a while since I felt my heart ache for the main characters in a book. I think you could be a super fan of Sleep Token or someone who has never heard of them and still enjoy this book. I think it took me so long to finish because I had the feeling for a hot minute that it wasn’t going to end how I had hoped and I didn’t want to face that!

I am not even sure on how to put into words this book made me feel. It was an emotional rollercoaster. Zach and Kit are 2 souls that have dealt with more tragedies than 2 people should ever deal with. The guilt that they held on too, hurt my heart. Through everything they found that music helped heal them in some way. I loved the book.

I was fortunate to receive an ARC for this book and it blew me away. Longtime fan of the inspired, and rabid for good writing. Brianne DELIVERED. The pacing for the story was comfortable without feeling sluggish or rushed, and the characters were immediately relatable and given such great mannerisms. 10/10 a delight to read, even through blurry eyes at times.

Read this throughout some hard times going on, and it was a great escape. It was absolutely wonderful to read, especially as a Sleep Token fan, finding all the little references and nods to the band. Getting to see how Kit and Zach grew throughout the book and their ending. It was a delight, in the most sincere form. I loved it, and I will be revisiting it in the future.

The author did a great job turning Sleep Token songs into a novel. I gave it 4 stars because of how deep the Sleep Token references go, I’m not sure how people that aren’t Sleep Token fans may view the book.

I read this because of it being inspired by Sleep Token, kept reading because of how absolutely beautiful the story is, heartbreak, addiction, healing. I cried the last 30% of book. I will probably reread in the near future
