As a young man he dreamed of adventure and traveling to the kingdoms he heard about as a boy. In the spring of his fifteenth year he left his home in search of that adventure, but destiny had a bigger plan. Unknown to him his heritage has been hidden from him and those that were to tell him decide not to. There are others that know who is he is, yet they also do not tell him of his heritage. One of those would become his trainer, friend and partner in his adventure. Along the way he meets and is loved by a young girl who leaves her life behind to join them. As the three begin their adventures some of his inherited destiny begins to show. However he does not see it and would not believe it even if he did. Perhaps one day he will believe and finally know his destiny. Until that day he will have his sword to believe in.
This novel is incredible and moving. I loved every moment of it. There was just something magical about it even from the introduction.
Are there a bunch of missing words and spelling errors? Yeah alright there are. But you know what? I don't give a damn. Maybe it needed a bit more editing. However these minor issues hardly matter. What's far more important are the characters and the story.
This book felt more... I don't know, alive, I guess, than a lot of other fantasy books I have read. There was a feel similar to Lord of the Rings, but far from being a ripoff of it.
It's a damn shame the rest of this series isn't out yet, I would immediately be reading the rest of it right now.
This one goes up near the top of my list of all time favorites!
