*Book IV in the How to Kill "quick-read" series - not a standalone
You think you know how this ends? You’ve read the books. You’ve followed the twists. You’ve laughed at the chaos, the bodies, the perfectly timed cover-ups. You think you understand the rules of this story? You’ve never been more wrong....
When neighbors begin turning up dead - each murder staged with chilling precision to mirror scenes from a local author’s bestselling book series - it feels less like coincidence and more like a message. Someone isn’t just committing murder. They’re recreating fiction… and rewriting it in blood. Someone is watching… and this person knows Raya’s work well enough to replicate it… and knows her life well enough to weaponize it. The details aren’t just accurate, they’re intimate. As suspicion tightens around her and bodies continue to surface, Raya is forced to confront a terrifying possibility: this isn’t about the books. It’s about her. In How to Kill Your Stalker (and Get Away with It) - the darkest installment yet - no one is safe, and the truth is far more dangerous than the lies. Because this time, the ending isn’t hers to write. Whoever is behind this isn’t just trying to frame her. They’re trying to finish her.
There aren't enough words to describe the perfection of this series, including the season finale. The wit, the humor, the mystery and suspense... It's one of those series that could actually go on for ten books without the reader getting tired of it, yet each one ends on a satisfying note.
I absolutely loved this entire series and cannot wait for J.R. Mason's next thriller!
To say I was excited to see this series continuing was an understatement! Every new story, I think I’ve found my new favorite but this one definitely tops the charts. I have loved all 4 books, but the crime thriller touch added to this one was simply brilliant! This is definitely not one that was easy to figure out and it took several twists and turns before revealing to us exactly what was happening. I loved seeing some of the characters from the previous books, if this was truly the conclusion (which I’m hoping it’s not lol), JR Mason definitely went out with a bang! I will definitely be listening to this audio as well when it is released.
Ok, ok, ok! I swear that there were several times when I thought I knew whodunit, but there were so many twists and turns, I was extremely surprised at the end! You have got to read this! You'll recognize some characters from books 1-3, so read those first, but you won't be disappointed.
I can’t even describe how excited I was to read this. This series started out fun, and although it got darker and darker with each installment, it still managed to keep its humor. The author balanced that so well, and the series got better and better because of it.
The main character is Raya, a successful thriller author. Suddenly, bodies start dropping in real life that mimic scenes from Raya’s books. And of course, law enforcement immediately suspects the author. But is Raya crazy enough to act out her own stories, or is someone else recreating her fiction? And if it is someone else, is it a crazed fan imitating the books, or is our main character actually in danger?
Either way, this book is entertaining and satisfying. I could not put it down, and the plot twist at the end was really well done. Raya is one of my favorite thriller characters of all time. I’m a fan of the entire series, but book four is by far my favorite. From what I understand, the audiobook is currently in the works.
The How To Kill Your Stalker finale officially had me in a chokehold. It was dark, bloody, chaotic, funny, twisted, and somehow still emotional underneath all the insanity. I was stressed, shocked, horrified… and completely entertained the entire time. J.R. Mason really said, “Let’s end this series with maximum damage,” and I respect it. 😭
Why this finale absolutely nailed it:
* The Audio: The audiobook was phenomenal. * The Kills: The deaths were creative as always. * The Pace: The rising tension had me shook.
I can’t even explain half my thoughts without spoiling something, so just know this: if you love dark humor, messy revenge, morally questionable characters, blood, and absolute chaos… this series delivers.
J.R. Mason has done it again. I wasn’t sure where this one was headed, but she moved the story forward from the previous books while still keeping it fresh.
You still get that signature dark wit, but Book 4 might be the darkest yet. I enjoyed every bit of it.
Definitely read the series in order for the full experience.
Listen—I keep saying I have a favorite in this series, and every time I read the next one, I’m like “okay wait…THIS one might be it.” They just keep getting better, and this was such a GREAT way to close it out.
And let me tell you—just when you think you got it all figured out…you don’t. At all. The twists? Will humble you real quick!
What I loved most is how real it felt. Like the way it was written had me really sitting there like, “hold on…did this actually happen?!” That kind of storytelling pulls you ALL the way in.
Overall, this was an amazing ending to the series. If you like suspense that keeps you guessing and has you talking to the book like it can hear you…this is definitely it!
This may be my favorite book in the series so far. The drama, the humor, and the absolute craziness made this such a fun, quick read.
Raya the FMC definitely isn’t innocent, but she seriously couldn’t catch a break. Every time you think things might settle down, something else happens. I listened to the audiobook, and J.R. Mason does a great job narrating and bringing the characters story to life. If you’re looking for a fast paced thriller with dark humor, revenge, and a plot twist you won’t see coming, this one is definitely worth picking up.
somehow this ended up being my favorite in the series. I can’t quite put my finger on why, maybe it’s the fun trigger warnings… maybe it’s the plot twist, I have no clue… but I love it.
Now, thus is ONE time I’m telling y’all to read the books in order because the fall into chaos, obsession, paranoia, and madness hits so much harder that way.
This isn’t for the faint of heart, the easily disturbed, or anyone who thinks “he’s just misunderstood” PLEASE check your trigger warnings!!!
Get this today, read with an open heart and locked doors.
I have the stop reading on the bus because BAYBEE the way my jaw drops and I look around like “is anyone else witnessing this?!” J.R. has me looking fully crazy with each new book I read. Yeah this is a thriller but the way she uses her words always seems to illicit giggles out of me then glare at the book 30 seconds later. It’s rare I’m okay with a series ending, but she wrapped this up a bloody little now and I’m satisfied. Don’t go into this book expecting to know how it ends, it’s impossible because she’s THAT good! Sit back, grab your snacks and dive into the last manual!
4.5 stars - J.R. MASON DID IT A-FREAKING-GAIN!!! 😭😂👏🏽
Whew! What a way to end the How to Kill series! This book was twisty, suspenseful, mysterious, funny, and had me questioning what the HELL was going on pretty much the entire time. 😂
And let me start by saying that even though I had the actual book, I HAD to add the audiobook too because one thing about J.R. Mason?! I absolutely LOVE her audiobook performances. She brings these characters and their personalities to life in a way that makes the experience even more entertaining, and once again, she did NOT disappoint. I loved being able to read along while listening to her perform the story because it added another layer to the experience for me.
This time around, things get VERY personal for Raya when murders start happening that seem eerily similar to scenes from her own books. 👀 And baby…from there, I was like:
“Hold up…what the HELL is going on here?!” 😳😂
Because the similarities were just TOO doggone specific!
The suspense and mystery had me locked in because I was constantly trying to figure out what was happening, who was behind everything, and most importantly, WHY?! There were so many moments where I found myself literally talking out loud to the book and audiobook like these characters could hear me. 😂
What I especially loved, though, was how J.R. Mason brought everything full circle for this final installment. There were details and callbacks woven in from the previous How to Kill books that made this feel like a true finale rather than simply another standalone adventure with the same characters. Little things would pop up and have me thinking, “WAIT A MINUTE…I remember that!” 👀
But then she took it even further and started sprinkling in connections and references from her OTHER books and series too?!
Ma’am.
MA’AM!!! 😭😂
That had me questioning EVERYTHING because once I started noticing those similarities, my brain immediately went into overdrive trying to figure out what she was doing. I love when authors create those little connections within their fictional worlds because it feels like a special treat for readers who have been following their work.
And because I’ve read J.R. Mason’s other books, those moments HIT! I was over here feeling like I needed a bulletin board, some red string, and pictures of everybody like I was investigating the situation myself. 😂🕵🏽♀️
The twists and revelations just kept coming too. Every time I thought I was starting to understand what was happening, something else would be revealed that had me reconsidering what I thought I knew. And there were definitely some “AIN’T NO WAY!!!” moments sprinkled throughout that had me talking aloud and reacting like I was having a conversation with somebody sitting beside me. 😂
I also loved that even with all the murder, mystery, and suspense, J.R. Mason never lost the humor that made me enjoy this series so much in the first place. These books have always managed to be dark and completely chaotic while still making me laugh, and that same energy was here until the very end.
And speaking of the end…🥹
I really enjoyed seeing everything come together and getting one final adventure with this crazy crew. After following them through neighbors, coworkers, readers, and now a freaking stalker 😂, it was bittersweet knowing this was the conclusion. But I thought this was such a clever way to bring the series home while also rewarding those of us who have been paying attention along the way.
Overall, How to Kill Your Stalker was an excellent conclusion to such a fun, chaotic, twisty series. It gave me suspense, mystery, humor, callbacks, unexpected connections, and plenty of moments that had me questioning my own detective skills. 😂
And pairing the physical book with J.R. Mason’s audiobook performance made it even better. If you’ve been following this series, I absolutely recommend experiencing this finale with the audiobook too because J.R. performing J.R.’s own madness just hits DIFFERENT. 😂👏🏽
I’m sad to see this crew go, but baby…they definitely went out with a BANG!
4.5 stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐✨
And J.R., if you’re reading this…
I’m gonna need you to explain some things because WHAT THE HELL WAS ALL THAT?! 😭😂
How to Kill Your Stalker (and Get Away With It) is everything I wanted in a series finale and then some. It takes the suspense, dark humor, shocking twists, and over-the-top chaos that made this series so addictive and pushes everything to another level.
I don’t think I took a full breath once the story really got going. Every chapter raised the stakes, every revelation made me question what I thought I knew, and every time I convinced myself the story had reached its peak, J.R. Mason somehow found another way to surprise me. The pacing never let up, making it nearly impossible to stop listening.
One of my favorite things about this series is the way the author blends horror, comedy, and emotional depth without losing the heart of the story. Beneath all the bloodshed, betrayals, and jaw-dropping moments is a cast of characters whose choices, flaws, and relationships keep you emotionally invested until the very end.
The audiobook deserves its own round of applause. The narration elevated an already incredible story, making every tense moment feel cinematic and every twist land even harder. The imagery throughout the novel is so vivid that I never felt like I was listening to a book—I felt like I was watching the scenes unfold.
I listened to all four books in a single week, and this finale easily became my favorite of the series. It had me staying up far later than I planned because I simply had to know how everything would end. If someone announced tomorrow that this series was being adapted for television, I’d be the first person pressing play.
J.R. Mason has created one of the most entertaining thriller series I’ve read in a long time. Equal parts suspenseful, hilarious, brutal, and unpredictable, this finale delivers exactly what fans hope for—and then goes several steps further.
Five Minutes In and I Was Already Looking Over My Shoulder!
I went into How to Kill Your Stalker expecting a dark thriller, but I was not prepared for how quickly it would pull me in. The tension starts early and somehow just keeps tightening chapter after chapter. Every time I thought I had things figured out, the story managed to shift just enough to make me question everything again.
What really worked for me was how unsettling it felt without relying on nonstop shock value. The paranoia, the emotional manipulation, the feeling that something is always just slightly off — it all felt incredibly well done. I kept telling myself “just one more chapter” and suddenly half the night was gone.
The characters felt messy and believable in the best way, and the pacing hit that sweet spot where it never dragged but still gave moments room to breathe. There were several scenes that genuinely made me anxious in the way only a good psychological thriller can.
Most importantly: no spoilers, but the payoff was worth the ride.
If you like thrillers that make you suspicious of everyone while also making you emotionally invested, this one is absolutely worth picking up. Five stars from me.
At this point, J.R. Mason is an automatic one-click author for me. I don't need a blurb. I don't need to read reviews. Matter of fact... I don't even need to know what it's about. If she wrote it, I'm buying it. I bought this one as a blind buy lol
And of course I had to grab the audiobook too because a J.R. Mason audiobook is always going to hit. ANNDD your girl is in the book!
As usual there are plenty shady characters that either could be the killer.
I love books that make me work for the answer instead of handing it to me.
I'm honestly sad to see this series come to an end because I've had such a good time with every single book. It's been one of those series that kept me entertained from beginning to end.
Now let me put my auntie finger up for just a second...
THIS. IS. NOT. A. STANDALONE.
Please don't do it to yourself. Read these books in order. The callbacks, the character relationships, and all those "OHHHHH... NOW I GET IT!" moments are worth experiencing the way they were intended.
Trust me on this one.
And as always...
Please don't be the person posting spoilers in your reviews. Let the rest of us enjoy the ride too.
How on earth do you say goodbye to this wacky but lethal crew? We've been through so much with Raya and the gang that couldn't pew pew straight; from taking care of pesky neighbors, disposing of ruthless coworkers, to teaching a lesson to disrespectful readers, and now finally, we go on another adventure and we're supposed to just move on? This has been a heck of a ride! In just one year, Author J.R. Mason kept the tension high and the laughs rolling while telling the darkest tales about people we have all experienced - starring people we know!!! And we all GRADUATED and got our certificates and now we know everything about HOW to K1ll, well, everybody (and get away with it)!!!
This was a most satisfying ending though. And if you read in order (you DID read in order, right?) then you will get a big chuckle at the end and just shake your head, like, yeahhhhh, that was nice!
Deep sigh. It's been so much fun and I don't know how to let go though. So, I'm gonna keep refreshing my screen and waiting, and hoping for season 2.
Let me just start by saying I am PISSED that this has ended. It's so many more people she can take out.... add instructions for just case. KIDDING!!!!
Ok number one as a person who didn't start off reading this series in order, please read the damn thing in order.... Or not the author can make book 5 and take you out..... I mean.... Anyway....
I fully enjoyed this book and I can't wait for the audio to come out. J.R has your ass trying to seriously piece this shi!t together all the way until the end. PLOT TWIST HOW DID WE FORGET ABOUT THAT FOOL I KNEW THEY ASS WAS A WHOLE LIE!!!! And then in the one chapter I'm like for real you just gonna pop up like that. AND put that shit back.... how you just gonna?!?!?
I see why these authors be giving side eye... Damn copycat...
Go read this book so you know how the author really just *********** and then ******** and I can't believe it was ******************************* the whole damn time crazy.
Just when you think this series can’t get more chaotic… it gets personal. Book IV leans darker, pulling the story into a chilling “fiction meets reality” spiral that feels way too close for comfort. The idea of someone recreating Raya’s work and knowing her well enough to twist it adds a constant sense of paranoia that never really lets up. Raya isn’t just caught in the mess this time… she is the target. And that shift raises the stakes in the best (and most stressful) way. Still fast-paced, still twisted but sharper and more psychological.
JR kept me guessing. I enjoyed the twists and turns. There were so many options of suspects and she still managed to surprise me in the end. Great narration and it's all laced with a bit a humor. This was a great series.
Wonder if we can talk her into another installment? She says No but We'll see.
Definitely my favorite of the series. It was funny and suspenseful. I loved how she integrated Stolen pieces and previous How to kill books into the storyline. I loved the sound effects, mama Mason narration debut, and audio bloopers bonus chapters. You truly outdid yourself with this one.
What 👏🏾 a 👏🏾 finale 👏🏾! 😍I’m so sad to see this series go because I loved every second of it! 🤭 As always, the writing was top tier and had my full attention from page one. This book had more twists and turns than all the backroads in North Carolina, and it was perfection. It’s not a J.R. Mason book if it doesn’t take me through it suspense wise. 😆 It kept me on my toes, gave me anxiety, and cracked me up along the way. 10/10 absolutely recommend and will read again!😁
Part 4 is truly the biggest who's who out the series. The story is so rich & delicious you can't help but be pulled in from the jump. 4 books in & I'm still wanting MORE!!
This fast paced mystery thriller had me laughing while trying to guess who was behind everything. This is my favorite book in the series. Raya can’t stay out of trouble to save her life. I can’t wait to read the future books in this collection: 5-50, lol. #teamLinda
JR Mason never misses. I love this series. It is so good and wraps up the series so nicely that plot twist in there was wild and how they wrapped it all up at the end to give us exactly what we needed to know I loved it. She always knows how to crack me up in the most dramatic ways and I loved it and she always has the coolest characters. The fact that this is all local to me just adds to the imagination. 😆🤭🔪 what a great manual I mean, Novella series. 😆 you must read an order do not be that “Linda” and not read it in order.
