Knot Club #3

Knot Club: Obsession

Rate this book
Six weeks off suppressants. An engineered heat. All so I could get revenge on the alpha who dismantled my team's case in court.

I walked into Knot Club with a plan: find Everett Callahan. Let him claim my heat. Take him apart. Except the courtroom isn't the only place Everett is a shark.

His hands take me apart piece by piece. He asks me questions while I shake apart. Every honest answer earns me more. Every lie costs me. By the end, I'm crying and confessing and he hasn't even asked for my name yet.

The revenge was a lie. The obsession was the truth.

Knot Club: Obsession is an explicit 14k MM omegaverse short read featuring obsession, rival lawyers, a masked anonymous club, edging, denial, toys, power exchange, and an alpha who thinks this manipulative omega is the most interesting person he's ever met. HFN ending. No mpreg.

Tonight's plan is simple. Find Everett Callahan. Let him claim my heat. Take him apart.

Unreliable witness in the courtroom! Junior lawyer Kieran is out for revenge against the opposing counsel who causes his firm to lose a case. His case is built on complete self-delusion and bullshit -- he's actually just trying to get back into proximity with smart, capable Everett who smells great and has sexy hands.
I want to see the guy who owned that courtroom come undone for me. Maybe even beg. Lose that lazy control because an omega—because I—got under his skin so bad he can't think straight. It's revenge. Obviously. He humiliated my team and I've been pissed about it ever since. This is how I settle the score.

Kieran walks into the Knot Club, finds Everett and broadcasts how much he wants him. He needs Everett on his knees... but Kieran soon finds out that he won't ever be the one in control.
I'm full, wrecked, and my body is so content the revenge story won't stick. It slides off like water. Underneath is something I don't want to look at: I've never felt this good.

Kieran seems to have forgotten how good Everett is at cutting through the noise and finding the truth. He gives up the whole plan under Everett's sexy interrogation techniques (dude's in heat, he never really had a chance at holding out).
Your whole body is begging me, and your mouth is the only part of you that's still fighting. How long do you think that's going to last?"

Somehow Everett finds Kieran's plan very sexy and manages to get him to reveal his name, face and even agree to a date.

Idk about this one... it just wasn't really that enjoyable to read. I get the self-delusional justification part of Kieran seeking out Everett for 'revenge' rather than his real aim of getting dicked down, but there's other aspects of the story that don't make any sense. How did Kieran know when Everett would be at the Knot Club? Everett isn't a frequent visitor there. How did Kieran know his heat would hit on the exact night Everett was at the club? Kieran had to go off his suppressants weeks ahead of time, which didn't give him much time to establish a pattern of behaviour for Everett. I'm also annoyed that Kieran thought his plan could work when he knew he'd end up a blithering puddle of slick, completely unable to string a thought together when his heat hit.

The push and pull of their personalities was fun to read, but seems a bit disastrous for a long term relationship. The attraction and chemisty between them is based on scent and Kieran being 'smarter than the other omegas', which feels kinda icky and patronizing. I'm making it way too deep but this one is my least favourite so far.

This is a buddy read with @Cath and I hope she's having a better time reading than I did!

Helllll yes. This is the one! The first two in this series were just ok for me, but this one is what I'd been hoping they'd be. The dynamic was really fucking hot and I loved that they had a different sex scene in there in addition to the typical heat scenes.

And the writing style didn't bug me like in the others! Not sure if it got better or I got used to it or what, but it doesn't matter because I was all in on this one. I hope the author follows through and writes full length stories for all of these because I am very interested in this couple - and actually the couple from the first book, too.

I'll say it again, though, the betas that work at that club better be making hazard pay!

I have to close my eyes and breathe through it. If this is what Everett Callahan does to me from thirty feet away, through a crowd, I'm in way more trouble than I planned for.

I laugh, and it's genuine, which surprises me. I don't usually laugh on the floor. The omegas here are beautiful, willing, and they smell like everything my biology wants, but they don't usually make me laugh. This one is standing in front of me, visibly wet through his jeans, scent screaming fuck me, and he's busting my balls. I like it more than I should.

His body is ready and his attitude is not, and I want to take him apart for it. Most omegas in heat want to be touched and they show it. This one wants to be touched and he's furious about it.

My hand slides down from his hip to his thigh and I can feel the wet where his slick has soaked through his pants. "Jesus," I say against his neck, and I mean it. He's drenched. "You're this wet and you're still talking shit?" "Fuck you."

"I want you," he says, and it's the most honest thing he's said all night.

"You're staring again," he says without looking at me. "You're interesting to look at." "You said that already." "It keeps being true."

Safety (may contain spoilers)

SA/rape: The omega, Kieran, went to the club specifically looking for Everett, the alpha, who in turn had no idea who Kieran was.

Other person drama: None

Buddy read w @Elizabeth 💕💖

I admit this one isn't as smutty as the previous books in the series, but only bcs it had a long foreplay and OMG IT WAS SOOOOO GOOD LIKE HELLO????

I really liked the lawyer setup and how they couldn't help but bring a little bit of their "lawyer persona" into the bedroom as well LOL. The way they kept analyzing each other was so fun 🤭🤭

The issue I have with this one is probably more a result of how the series is written and this book just happened to take the fall 🤷‍♀️ I understand that each book can be read as a standalone, so it has to be written in a way that even if you haven't read the others, you'll still get the full picture and understand how the Knot Club works.

But since I HAVE read the rest (in order too), it's starting to get boring and lwk repetitive.

Because every single book starts with the MMC entering the club and then he spends the next few pages describing what's happening there. That there are omegas getting railed in this corner and that corner and on the floor too and the betas are cleaning the shit up and yada yada yada yada yada.

MY GOODNESS, IT'S SO ANNOYING ATP. And if it were at least written differently every time.……but it's not 🙄🙄🙄 I'm getting déjà vu by now.

So yep. Loved the dynamics and the way the enemies-to-lovers trope played out, but the rest was kinda meh.

I have to say I was not a fan. I normally like this author, but this series of stories I just could not get into. I did not feel the chemistry and this all felt like a one night stand type of feeling, all lust no real love. This just left a bad taste of stories and characters i really wanted to like but felt off putting and no chemistry and only the lust took the center stang, but even romance or lovers it just fast hook and try to make a story out of it. Just did not work, very disappointed.

Loved this 3rd instalment of Knot club from Ansley Ellis. Can’t wait for number 4. Just the right amount of sexy spice.

Meh, I hoped for more. The idea was interesting but the rest was kinda flat. A very quick read. Wish it was longer.
