Lessons in Love

Annie expects her new student teacher to be just like all the others, a young college kid. Except he’s not a kid… he’s a man, a grown man, a handsome man. Having a hottie in her classroom was not on her bingo card, nor was a parent of one of her students sliding into her DMs. Both men are smack dab in the off-limits category, and even contemplating dating them isn’t an option.

Annie needs to get herself in line and stop being distracted by these handsome men so she can do her job. The woman just wants to teach, not be the next Bachelorette. As a grown lady, she can power through the butterflies in her stomach, or at least that’s what she keeps telling herself.

She might not be able to stop feelings from creeping in, but she can postpone them... in theory. If she can keep the sexy men at bay until summer, all will be right with the world. Except summer feels like a million years away.

Lessons in Love is a love letter to teachers. It’s a cozy low stakes romcom about a woman who unexpectedly finds herself in the middle of a love triangle.

I really loved the characters, especially watching the female main character grow throughout the story. Seeing her go from struggling with heartbreak, divorce, and self doubt to becoming more confident in herself was one of my favorite parts of the book.

This story follows a teacher going through a very difficult season in her life, and while trying to rebuild herself, she unexpectedly finds love again. The love triangle definitely kept me invested, and I found myself emotionally attached to the journey and the relationships.

The writing made the story feel very real and relatable, especially the emotional healing and personal growth. I also think this book would make an amazing audiobook because the emotions between the characters would translate so well in audio format I would absolutely love to listen to the Audible version.

The only thing missing for me was a little more spice romance tension. But overall, I truly enjoyed it and would definitely recommend it to readers who enjoy emotional romance, love triangles, and stories about finding yourself again after heartbreak.

ARC READ REVIEW

Thank you to Kate for trusting me to read this as part of her ARC team. I usually rate my books out of 10 so I would give this a 7/10.

The book and storyline is incredible, I enjoyed reading it and it’s very much a comfort read sort of book and I really enjoyed the writing style.

The book felt like watching a hallmark movie and that’s the kind of scenes I built in my head throughout reading, it is definitely a slow burn too however the ending felt slightly faster paced than the rest of the book so that it could be closed off.

There also isn’t an exact plot, it’s a smooth sailing, plot free, simple and easy to read romance novel.

I also felt as though I didn’t get to learn enough about the characters to build a bond with them and so it felt like a light detached read.

These are just personal preferences when it comes to reading and with saying the above, it is not in a bad way as I really liked the book overall and would re-read it.

The love triangle also kept me on my toes.

Thank you again so much for giving me the opportunity to read and review

I loved this book from beginning to end. I really enjoyed reading Annie's journey as she healed from her heart break and gained more confidence as well as found herself. Kirk was such a loveable character and a great compliment to Annie, they had fantastic chemistry. I also loved that Kirk's mom hand sewed pajamas for their family, that is so sweet and I would love that. Annie has such a great friend group and she works at a fantastic school. I would absolutely read more books if this became a series. It was such a great time.

I received this book as an ARC thanks to Kate Minty but all opinions are my own.

I always enjoy this author’s books. As a retired teacher I really liked the teacher perspective of the main character. The best way I can describe this book is that it’s like an episode of a comfort show I watch. It’s just really likable characters living their lives, normal day to day, and we got to be there for it.

A big thank you to Kate for the gifted copy to review. I adore this authors work. They are such easy reads and guaranteed to make you smile.

I listened to the audio on this one and the narrator was THE PERFECT FIT. That good girl teacher vibe. It was perfect.

Annie, my girl! This book pulled me in and I felt like I was there in the classroom with the characters. The love triangle was amazing but watching the growth of the relationships and characters had me not wanting to put the book down.

This was an extremely cute book! I felt like I got the inside deets to what it’s like to be a teacher and how much effort goes in to being prepared for the school year. It was probably the longest slow burn ever for me but very rewarding at the end! Great read!

Short and sweet. Nothing too crazy or exciting happens, and as a fellow teacher I'm glad. But if I'm honest, reading about people doing the same job I do wasn't very exciting.
