This amazing sequel to The Reflective, by Tamara Rose Blodgett, is indeed just as spell-binding as the first novel in the series.
I love the continuing characterization throughout this novel; Beth is a strong character, as is Maddie, and I loved watching them further come into themselves as the story progressed. Though our beloved female lead, Beth, is pulled in two directions as she wars with her feelings concerning Merrick and Slade, creating an almost triangular effect, Blodgett puts her own personal spin on it, making this relationship trope fresh and exciting as she shows that not all is fair in love and war. Filled with many trials and tribulations bordering on betrayal, the extent of deception others go to procure what is deemed theirs has no bounds. I thoroughly enjoyed the tug of war on Beth’s heartstrings throughout the novel, though I already know where my true allegiance lies.
The vast world building Blodgett has created is absolutely mind-blowing, and as the characters jump from one world to the next, it never ceases to amaze me just how realistic and complete each world is in its own right. Of course, fraught with males with abusive tendencies on what seems to be every world Beth and her companions encounter, the reader is once again left on the pinnacles of a harrowing cliffhanger; The Reflective Cause will leave readers’ with their hearts in their throats at the conclusion, dying for more, as is Blodgett’s way. I cannot wait for more. Five stars.
Humor, snark, dark action and attitude oozes out of The Reflective Cause storyline.
Returning to their own dimension 5 years into the future, the group faces a bleak existence where the Reflective has been transformed into an evil power of repression and tyranny.
A vivid journey between world, the dark, swift moving plot is written in such a way that it seems to plug the story directly into your mind making you see it playing out before you.
Ultimately, it is the ability of the author to create realistic characters and marvelous world building that made The Reflective Cause into this enthralling read.

It doesn’t matter what world you live on, what world you can jump to, death, discoveries and even romance may find you, but can a Reflective answer the call of their heart? Tamara Rose Blodgett’s The Reflective Cause once again showcases Ms. Blodgett’s ability to create fantasy worlds that come to life, characters with heart, loyalties and all of the turmoil that face the flesh and blood humans around us. Her ability to create dialogue that is natural and down-to-Earth only adds to the magnetic draw of her bold writing style.
A female Reflective is rare and those that exist are held captives in a flesh trade that threatens Beth’s very life. Coincidence or fate flexing its muscles? Now a target from even her own people, her life is a tsunami of life-alternating changes, revelations and needs. Will her fierce sense of duty and honor cost her more than she is willing to pay? I hate the main character. Beth Jasper is supposed to be a badass. She's the sole female warrior of a species who polices 13 sectors- 13 versions of earth. You'd think as the only female warrior amongst hundreds of men that she would be a sort of commodity but they dislike her, some even view her as a mongrel that should be ended. I was fine with this at first- as the society is of course fiction, but given the other similarities between this world and the real world, it just doesn't make sense. She also is supposed to be one of the best warriors, but she is constantly getting her ass kicked and needs to be rescued. Her "brave, strong" personality comes off as bratty and stubborn. I also didn't like how the author dramatizes certain event without a sufficient building of the plot. I feel like the reader needs to feel the enormity of a situation so that the actions can make sense, but there isn't enough of that. I'm hoping the plot wraps up in the next book, I feel as if I'm being dragged very slowly up a rocky hill.
How can Tamara Rose Blodgett leave us yearning for more? Once again, she leaves us up in the air, begging for another book and longing for a positive outcome. This one is as good as the first. The continuing saga has us following our characters to several different sectors, discovering relationships that surprise and frighten and forming alliances that are unwanted but desperately necessary. I have fallen in love with these characters, cheered, switched sides, wanted to throttle them, laughed out loud at their antics and had my heart seize when trouble is too near. Her characters are fascinating in their individuality and even more compelling in their similarities. As usual, I am looking forward to the next volume in the series! Thank you for taking us on such a wonderful adventure!
had just made history. Who is Beth Jasper, and what is her purpose? **THIS REVIEW IS BASED ON REFLECTION MEGA BOXED SET (BOOKS 1-4)** I don't know if I can find the words to express just how blown away I am by this uniquely phenomenal book! Once again, Tamara Rose Blodgett has transported me into a book like no other! Even though I have read thousands of books in my life, I honestly cannot think of any other story that even remotely compares to, or is similar to this one! Right from the start I was pulled into the story - you could say I jumped right into it, eyes first, never to look back! So many cool attributes like different species, different worlds, the concept of Reflectives, just ALL OF IT! I mean talk about a LOT of...well..a lot! Typical Tamara to not only keep me glued to the book, but to have me so deeply in the story that I completely lose myself, becoming the characters, feeling their happiness, pain, confusion, all of it as if it was mine! Such a terrifically written story with so many familiars, but yet so unique, which is one on the long list of why I love, Love, LOVE Tamara Rose Blodgett books!! My one & only "complaint" is just how much sleep I lost because I was THAT immersed in it, I just couldn't put it down!
This is the second part of the Reflective's story and is as good as the first. The authors imagination is amazing and keeps you riveted. We get to know more about Beth's parents. Great book well written, editing is mostly good with just a few errors noted. The main book is only 34% of the overall e-book and I've not read the next book or novel, which is included, as I am going straight on to the third book in this series. Part of Kindle Unlimited. Definitely worth a read.
Still good but it's hard to believe anyone would stand about arguing when danger is imminent. And this happens a lot which I find really stupid and annoying. Because in reality if this occurred they would all be dead long before the end of this book.
Wow. The second installment of this brilliant series. Words fail me at the imagination required to write a series like this. I absolutely NEED the next book NOW!!!
Oh that was good... excpet... the shit just hit the fan... there is a bit of cliffhanger on the end and I don't know when the next book will be published. Yes, I know I'm spoiled by technology- so many books available at the click of a button- I can pick up whole series at one time. Back in the old days when I had to walk to school barefoot in the snow uphill- both ways... it was nothing it reread books- repeatedly.. we didn't get to go to the library that often and to buy a book- that was special- now phft! Oh and I was laying in the bed this morning wondering about Marata Eros... and the letters moved in my head and CLICK!!! the light went on... Marata Eros
OMG I thought book 1 was good but this book was fantastic. I knew going into it that I would love it and I was not disappointed at all.
I received an advanced copy of this book for an honest review. To get the full scope of things you really need to read book 1 first and then this book so you really understand things and I don't think you will be sorry.
