ARC REVIEW

This short double feature was brilliant. In the first story, you get to meet Ralph, the human version of a root canal. We can't stand Ralph, and honestly, he's got it coming. I did feel a little bad for Matty, though. The second story takes place in a bomb shelter, and let me tell you, it's a real anxiety party. But, the real kicker is what's lurking beneath the shelter - claustrophobia at its finest terrifying and sinister.

Thanks Ash Ericmore for the advance copy. I loved it!

VAMPIRE CHAINED.... None of the girls at the club are quite what Ralph is looking for, but what he has at home isn't quite what it seems!

DEAD ENDS AND DARKNESS.... Everyone is down in the underground taking refuge from the bomb but a strange noise brings something more worrying to light!

Book 2 in the Absolute Horror series.

Vampire: Chained

Matt can’t believe what Ralph has done. He has to correct it. He has to have Girl.

Short, twisty and twisted.

Dead Ends and Darkness

David takes refuge in the London Underground during the Blitz. A direct hit; things aren’t what they seem.

Creepy and claustrophobic. Horror as it should be.

I’m loving this series so far.

1."Vampire: Chained"

Our first tale of this second Double Feature follows best friends Matt and Ralph as they sip their drinks at the bar of the club that they both frequent. Matt is scoping out some women that he thinks are attractive, but, Ralph seems bored of it all, and them. Suddenly, Ralph reveals to Matt that he has something he wants to show him back at his place, and that it was kind of a secret. Intrigued, Matt agrees to leave the club with Ralph, back to his flat. Upon arrival, Matt is floored when he sees what Ralph has been keeping quiet. The most beautiful woman he has ever seen, albeit bloody, dirty, and smelly. She is chained up to the ceiling of the basement, and has been being used for not so consensual acts from Ralph, who offers to "share" her with Matt. Matt, having been content just ogling hot chicks at the club reaches a crossroads. Will he partake in the lewd acts with his friend, or will he do what he can to help out this beautiful woman, who is not what she seems to be gain her freedom? I loved this! The ending was well deserved, and justified completely, considering they fucked with the wrong woman.

2."Dead Ends and Darkness"

In this short story, in 1942, bombs are dropping from the sky, threatening total destruction. David Lawrence finds himself in the St. Regents Underground Station for protection against a temporary air raid. Deep in the tunnels are the women, and children from the surrounding areas, as well as very few men, with most of them out fighting the war due to the draft. David is a "draft dodger" but uses the guise of being a children's doctor as a cover as to why he isn't fighting. Under this self appointed title, David meets Eileen, a married woman whose husband is at war. Offering her a smoke, and earning a bit of her trust, David suggests that they venture deeper into the tunnels, as the front was filling in with even more people. Soon, however, and suddenly, a bomb finds its target, right above the temporary shelter, causing a huge cave in, and collapse of a huge chuck of the tunnel way, separating the two. Seemingly alone, and terrified, but, mostly unscathed, David must now navigate his way through the rubble to safety. But, he is not alone. And, what seems to be stalking him on the lower level of the maze of debris isn't human. Will David Lawrence make it to safety before he comes face to face with something that he cannot explain? This was a claustrophobic short story full of anxiety, and it really keeps you on the edge of your seat.

Overall, this is another five star read from Ash, in my opinion! Both stories, while short, were well-rounded, and evoked emotions of disgust, anxiety, and dread. Very well done, and highly recommend!

Welcome to the next release of Absolute Horror by Ash Ericmore! Double Feature 2 is another pair of short stories guaranteed to send a chill creeping up your spine in the best of ways!

Vampire Chained: Matt's good friend decides to show him a secret he has been keeping. Something dark and sinister. Was his friend wrong? Matt can't decide, but this new knowledge will change his life forever...

Dead Ends and Darkness: Set in WWII, a city's citizens are filing into a nearby bomb shelter as the explosions continue to get closer and closer. David will have to decide which was worse, staying above ground where the battle rages on or staying underground to avoid it. Do you smell something?

Ash continues the double feature of horror stories with another couple of fangtastic reads.

Vampire: Chained follows a couple of guys who are hard up finding women who are interested in them when one of them invites the other back to their house to let them into a dirty little secret. That secret is unleashed upon the both of them in a way neither of them were expecting.

Dead Ends and Darkness gives out creepy underground creature horror vibes which is definitely my jam. The pacing is a little slower in this one, giving the story time to grow in tension. It follows a man who is trapped underground during a bomb raid when things collapse and he hears strange sounds that follow him as he tries to escape.

Looking forward to more of these!

Vampire: Chained / Dead Ends and Darkness delivers exactly what you’d expect from an Ash Ericmore double feature—fast-paced, brutal, and unapologetically strange. If you’re looking for a fun, quick horror read, this one hits the mark. Both stories lean into gore and the bizarre, making them perfect for fans of extreme horror who enjoy something a little offbeat
