A bit of a fever dream ending tbh.
A LOT happened in this last book. I originally started this book because I wanted to wrap up the whole series. I was feeling a little burnt out from the first three but felt committed.
The drama wasn’t bad. We find out what happened to Rhea, Talon’s semi ex-girlfriend. What was going on with the crows. Mark is now kidnapped and their hostage. Pain is the reaper side of Skye.
But then the fever dream started. I was still engaged and frantic to know what was going to happen next, but this whole book could’ve been its own standalone with a completely different cast of characters and I wouldn’t have noticed the difference.
What do you mean the big bad is all of a sudden this serial killer couple that killed Rhea?? Why are we introducing this element now?
Why is Skye being kidnapped and everything that could go wrong goes wrong?
And why were TWELVE soulstones on the verge of becoming wraiths and was the objective of the team in the last three books just dealt with in a quarter of a chapter??
It’s like the author realized she couldn’t deal with the soulstones and just threw in this creepy couple so we were distracted.
Also, I had no idea how she was going to end the series. But semi-killing all the MMCs so they could all be together in the end didn’t make me mad.

I’ve got to say this finale kind of let me down. I’ve really enjoyed all the other books in this series but this last one just seemed very rushed and not at all satisfying :/
I’m happy Skye got her happy ending but everything else felt a little lacklustre.
