Half On A Baby: Best Friends To Lovers

Rate this book
Jericho Haze has spent her life learning how to survive without roots. As an orphan, she’s mastered the art of detachment. Never staying too long, never needing too much, and never expecting anyone to stay. The only constant she’s ever allowed herself to have is Kaiser, her best friend and the one person who has always felt like home.

Their bond is effortless, unshakable, and carefully defined. Untouched by the truth that they both refuse to name.

Kaiser Carrington has built his life on the foundation of control. Control of his career, his responsibilities, and most importantly, his emotions. Loving Jericho has never been the problem. Pretending he doesn’t is.

For years, they’ve danced around the tension and fear of ruining the one thing they can’t afford to each other.

Until Jericho asks for the one thing that guaranteed to change everything.

A baby.

Not love. Not a relationship. Just a child.

What starts as a logical, emotionless arrangement quickly unravels into something far more complicated. Lines blur. Boundaries dissolve. And the feelings they’ve fought so hard to suppress refuse to stay buried when faced with the intimacy of creating a life together.

Because bringing a child into the world forces them to confront the truth they’ve been there’s nothing platonic about the way they love each other, and once that truth is exposed, there’s no going back to what they used to be.

I really wanted to like this book because I love the pregnancy trope in books!!! But the last 100 pages of this story really confused me and threw me for a loop when the FMC and the MMC meets the FMC’s aunt they have this whole elaborate conversation she’s basically getting to know who her mother was as a person, but then later on a couple chapters after the FMC and MMC are sitting down talking about the FMC‘s mother and her aunt as if she never had that sitdown conversation with her aunt.

Good Read!

Chapter 33 needs to be before 32… in ch 32 we meet the aunt but in ch 33 is where Kaiser tells her about her mom and aunt and calls her aunt to tell her who she is. And it’s not presented as a flashback

This is NOT why I gave it a 3 star. It got a 3 star because it literally took 87% of the book for Jericho to stop acting like a child. I felt like she needed therapy and to heal before asking for a baby. All she did was run from Kaiser and cause unnecessary issues. He loved her out loud and she never tells him how she REALLY feels. It’s like their feelings were one sided. He loved her more. It was an ok read but honestly I would have loved to see Jericho heal and grow as a person. In my opinion she never does.

Good storyline...

Spoiler alert...

Good story. The FMC was kind of annoying because even though she was guided by her past....a lot of things could have been avoided with a simple conversation. Her staying away from her BEST friend for almost a month was outrageous. But they got it together in the end.

Jericho and Kaiser’s friendship was my favorite part of this story from the very beginning. They always showed up for each other, but in this one you really got to see Kaiser carrying more of that emotional weight. That man was down bad for Jericho from day one and everybody with eyes could see it 😭

Now Jericho… whew. Sis got on my nerves because she is such a runner and overthinker. And maybe that irritated me because I saw too much of myself in her character and didn’t like it lol. She kept questioning and doubting what was literally right in front of her the entire time.

I really wish we got some on-page confrontation with the assistant and the cousin because baby I wanted smoke 👀 and I also needed a real conversation with Kaiser’s dad to fully close that storyline out for me.

Other than that, this was a really solid read and honestly very close to being a perfect one for me.

🎢💞 Best Friends to Forever: Kaiser & Jericho’s Wild Ride 💞🎢

OMG! 😱 Kaiser and Jericho took me on an emotional rollercoaster ride! 🎢❤️ They had been platonic best friends for 11 years but were completely in denial about their true feelings for each other. Everyone around them could see how much they cared for one another, but they insisted on staying “just friends.” 👀💕

Everything changed when tragedy struck Jericho. 💔 She decided she wanted to go half on a baby with her bestie—no strings attached. 👶🏽✨ Kaiser agreed, but on one condition: they had to become more than best friends. 😍 It seemed like a win-win for them both.

However, Jericho’s abandonment issues and Kaiser’s lack of communication (while expecting Jericho to be a mind reader 🙄) made their journey to forever anything but smooth. 🌪️❤️

Buckle up for this read because the ride is filled with emotions, growth, frustration, and love! 🎢📚💕✨

⭐️⭐️⭐️

With such a beautiful cover, how could I resist? This is a new to me author who I plan to read more of.

This particular trope isn’t my favorite, but the best thing about their story was- no one else was involved. Typically this trope has someone partnered with someone else. But having both characters single and the MMC not being exactly secretive about how he feels was a major plus.

While I enjoyed the writing, I found the FMC to be draining after the 70% mark. So her actions in the final half of the book didn’t shock me. I understood her actions and still her constant need of reassurance was annoying af. And it took away from me completely leaning into them.

one of my favorite tropes!!

This was a really good friends to lovers romance… She was running a lot from love, but I feel like it was because of her past trauma. This book was really good. He did not let her go and he loved her through everything. And when that man showed up to the Airbnb, I was done because yeah, where did you think he was going, man that man love you down he’s going to travel the world for you.!! this book was definitely 10 out of 10 must read

Good story

The story was goof but at times Jericho could be all over the place like her character was kind of flaky at times. Kaiser was solid most of the time but could get in his feelings about the simplest thing. In the end it was a good story and worth the time it took to read it.

Love Journey

This was one phenomenally well-written journey of love and a well-defined relationship.

It wasn't all peaches and cream, but the road traveled was worth the trip.

It was all about communicating and coming to a mutually understandable agreement.

What a magnificent ending!

I liked it

It was a decent read. I was looking for more action/drama. I felt like something was missing. All in all it was ok.
