Renee and Jay 2 continues the story of Renee and Jay, hailed as "An update of Romeo and Juliet--with a twist" by Essence and "hilarious" by best-selling author Zane. Renee and Jay 2, the first American fiction novel to focus on an interracial marriage, explores what it is like to raise biracial children in a less-than-colorblind world.
Prolific novelist J. J. Murray writes BWWM romance novels in all genres. He lives with his amazing, talented, and creative wife Kimberlee and their precocious son Steven in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
J.J. Murray, I am so ticked off at you & your sadistic way of getting your readers deeply engrossed in this book, only to then, snatch the covers away, by giving your readers a crappy ending... Why did you have kill off "that" character? Why???
Because this book was so incredibly awesome for at least 70% of the book, I'm giving this one 3 stars. Because what happens after the 72 mark, is enough to make a grown woman, cuss, & cry, at the same time..
I was sadden that Jay was killed off, I loved the Renee/Jay romance.. I loved the family dynamics, it took me awhile to read, I usually buy Mr. Murray books as soon as they are released, but by this post you can tell that it took me a couple of years to break down and read this book. while it is a good read and Mr. Murray did add his usual comic flare, I found myself in tears near the end
I would have enjoyed this book if he hadn't killed off one of the main characters. this was one depressing read. Why would he do that. Have us fall in love with characters, get very invested in them then kill him off. very depressing!! very!!
I’m glad I finished reading this story. Though I stilled struggled with Renee’s behavior, the author revealed to us her heart. She’s not a bad person just very rough in her speech and demeanor. Though Renee is telling the story, you get to feel Giovanni’s quiet strength. He’s not a “yes man.” He’s more of a “heart husband,” meaning he just wants to take care of his family in his quiet, undemanding, selfless way. In the end we see Renee’s real love for her husband.
I love reading J. J. Murray books and this one like the others did not disappoint. My emotions were all over the place. I feel like Renee, Giovanni, my husband and I would have been great friends (if they were real).
I really didn't like Renee & Jay (book 1) but I felt the author had potential so I decided to give R&J2 a chance and it didn't disappoint. The main protagonist, Renee is more believable in this novel and she grows into an (almost) likeable person. Murray covers topics most would shy away from (problems faced in interracial relationships and racism) but also shows how diversity in a relationship can help enrich the individuals involved. R&J2 is a wonderful read that I would recommend highly. Also, I loved the cover and it was not expensive to buy for kindle.
I don't even know of I can write this without crying....nope, I can't.
Touching, hilarious, emotional rollercoaster of a story! The love Renee and Giovanni shared is the stuff dreams are made of. I can't write too much without giving it away but I will say, this story will stick with you....
It was my fault. I read a review which contained a spoiler. The spoiler I did not expect. After seeing that I wasn't as excited to read it. So I skimmed the book.
