Doves for Sale

“Love isn’t crazy. Love isn’t a degree of insanity. Love is sanity at its purest. It forces your soul to make a rational choice—a choice to make another person’s happiness your priority, to allow them access to your heart and soul. Letting Ezra go was choosing to love him. Letting him go was the best way you knew how to choose his joy over your own. I can see it in both of you. This love isn’t one that will go down without a fight.”

Seven months is a long time to wait.
Ezra has three goals. There is no choice. He has to get better, for himself and for Aysa.
Except, his best friend Roman has moved in in his absence. He’s given Ezra’s girl a shoulder to cry on, a hand to hold, and a fighting chance at winning her heart.
Aysa knows who her heart belongs to.
But loving Ezra is no easy task.
Ezra never promised simple, he only promised his heart.
Aysa has two paths in front of her, one carries peace and one carries a love that never ends.

Lila Felix is full of antics and stories. She refused to go to Kindergarten after the teacher made her take a nap on the first day of school. She staged her first protest in middle school. She almost flunked out of her first semester at Pepperdine University because she was enthralled with their library and frequently was locked in. Now her husband and three children have to put up with her rebel nature in Louisiana where her days are filled with cypress trees, crawfish, and of course her books and writing. She writes about the ordinary people who fall extraordinarily in wild, true love.

I got the first book in this series as a freebie and it ended with no closure so I decided to continue onto this book. It was disappointing from beginning to end. very lame. Not one single thing about the plot or characters felt realistic or genuine. I'm surprised I actually finished it. Not one I'd recommend even if if it's free or on kindleunlimited.

This was a sappy, sweet, perfect ending to Aysa and Ezra.
It was WAY less dramatic and insecure than book 1. I'm so happy they got better individually and found their way back.
I absolutely adored the way they loved each other!

"You want to hide, baby?"
The blood rushes from my face. He was asking me so much more than just about hiding.
"I can't. The cabinet is gone."
"You don't need a cabinet to hide. You know that. I'm yours for the hiding. Hide with me."

DOVES FOR SALE is the second half of Ezra and Aysa's story. Will they be able to find their way back to one another? Or will other obstacles keep them from their happiness? Felix skillfully tells their story of struggle, hope and love. Struggle to find their way back to one another. Hope that that the other still feels the same. Love that has never, ever gone away…

I loved the new and improved Aysa that we get to see now. She has come so far since we first met this shy, awkward girl. Now she is a bit fiercer and coming out of her shell. Working on herself and her relationship with her family, we are seeing so much more to her. I guess you can say the same about Ezra. He was tortured in the first book. And now that he has gotten some “help” we are seeing a whole different guy. I think readers are going to like what they read!

I have mentioned in my review of SPARROWS FOR FREE that there wasn't a whole lot of romance in that book. But it was exactly the amount the story called for. Now DOVES FOR SALE is a different story. It screams for the romance and romance is what we get. Felix is in her element when it comes to writing romance. That chick knows exactly what she is doing and how to get it across as sweetly and beautifully written as possible. And she delivered in this book.

"You still love me?"
His tone is pitiful. I wish he knew how deep my love ran. If only words would do it justice.
"If I loved the mess you were then, what makes you think I wouldn't love you now?"

**

One of my most favorite parts of the whole book was the Knox and Aysa scenes. Aysa definitely keeps him on his toes and his prayer life steady. But you can absolutely tell they are the bestest of friends when they are around one another. Yes, I said bestest! Such fun those two are together. I never knew any cool priests like Knox when I was growing up. We only had the old, crotchety ones. But trust me…you are going to love them together.

My suggestion to you would be to drop whatever measly little book you are reading at the moment and finish Ezra and Aysa’s story. You need to know if they end up with one another. You need to live the romance. You need to see what fun is hiding within these pages. All of this book is an absolute need! I can promise you that. 5 Stars!

After reading Sparrows for Free and that killer cliffhanger I was dying to return to Ezra and Aysa's story...
These two have totally captured my heart and soul like no other...
Lila Felix has woven such a beautifully romantic tale of love... I am so overwhelmed with emotion at how endearing, touching, and absolutely breath-taking the love of these two captivating characters are in Doves for Sale..
I was moved by actions of thoughtfulness and melted by the swoon for Ezra.. GAH!!! He has come so far!!! I'm so totally fallen!!!
And Aysa... I think she resembles so many of us in that awkwardness but to she how much she has come out of her shell... She blossomed in to such a brave and strong woman...
Seriously... This story... It resonates in me...
Read it....experience it.. Let it devour you...
It did for me...
*sighs*

I absolutely fell in love with Sparrows for Free by Lila Felix and was very anxious for more. And now Doves for Sale is here and I have to say it did not disappoint.

Where I feel SfF was Aysa's story, this is Ezra's. Many months have gone by and we are reminded of how these days have been filled without our couple being together. But Ezra was determined to be whole before he could be fully with Aysa and watching his transformation from the guilt-ridden, obsessive young man into the confident, happier person was a joy to read.

Ezra has plenty of demons to conquer and with the help of his wonderful brother Knox (whom I would love to read more about)and the final realization that he can in fact forgive himself for the pain and suffering he caused Mara and everyone around him, he finds his way.

The book is very well written and brought out such immense feelings from me. We get to see Aysa and what her life is now like since she has been fully accepted into the lives of Ezra's family and friends. I was deeply touched at her transformation and her strength to finally to put herself first. Her determination for both herself and for the man she loves to be stronger is not overlooked. You can feel the way she and Ezra feel about each other, even when they are apart. Their awkwardness at trying to figure out how to make it work was both tender and sweet. And my heart broke for them at times, watching them struggle.

Overall, it is simply a touching and beautiful read. I do wish it was a bit longer and there was more with Gray (the villian). I guess I wanted the satisfaction of a confrontation where she is finally put in her place. The secondary characters of Roman and Knox, made me smile. They were perfect for this story.

I highly suggest reading Sparrow for Free first and then diving right into Doves for Sale. Lila Felix is a writer whom I adore and her books just get better and better.

4.5 stars and very highly recommended.

There goes Lila Felix again, writing about these guys that just put the rest of us to shame! And yet also adding in at least one who manages to make us look normal and sane. Guess that means we’re even again! :)

“I handled it. Why can’t you let the people around you handle things without wigging?”

Is this a Buffy reference? I’m going to treat it as such regardless!

Aysa and Ezra have both really grown since the last book and in all the right ways. I really like the change in them! They’ll have you swooning, Roman will leave you guessing, and Knox will have you laughing. Can Knox have his own book? What would he even do in his own book? I don’t know, but I really like his character. And if it happens, I’ll read it.

The story went from bad to worse for me. Aysa started out as a timing, invisible, frightened girl... and ended up being a miserable, arrogant, unlikeable woman. In fact al the characters seemed spineless to me. Didn't enjoy it at all.

Doves For Sale is the conclusion of Aysa and Ezra’s story. You need to read the first book which is Sparrows For Free. I loved Aysa and Ezra and could not wait for the conclusion to their story. At the end of Sparrows we were lef wondering if these two would find their way back to each other. Would Ezra become the man that was worthy of Aysa’s love? And when he finally did heal would it be too late?

When Aysa and Ezra met they both had their own issues that they were dealing with. And what I loved about this book is watching the growth and transformation that these two make. When we first met Aysa she was this very shy and a bit awkward girl. She hid from the outside world and I mean literally hid when things became a bit too much for her. She lived life just being there. She felt that no one even noticed her or cared if she was even there. But then Ezra came along and he saw something in her. He made her feel like she was important. And with Ezra there also came his friends and brother who suddenly became her friends. And seeing Aysa now and how much she has grown just made my heart happy. She has come out of her shell so much. She is the girl that she was always meant to be but just kept hidden. She has more spark to her, this feistiness that I love.

Ezra had his own demons that he was facing. He has been living in this world of hurt, guilt and pain over his past. He used his friend as a crutch to help him through it all. Everything was about him, but then he met Aysa and she was reason enough for him to get better. He knew that he needed to become whole again before being able to give Aysa the love and devotion that she deserves. I think that while we saw Aysa grow and get past her issues in the first book, I think is more of Ezra’s story and how he is learning to heal and be whole again. With some help Ezra learns to put his past in the past. He loves Aysa completely and needs her in his life. And he will do what it takes to heal and be worthy of her love.

I loved this story. It is the story of Aysa and Ezra finding their way back to each other. There is no doubt how much these two love each other and what being apart is doing to them. While Ezra is working on himself Aysa is trying to also move on. Ezra is never far from her mind but she is trying so hard to be her own person and put herself first. She knows that Ezra needs to become whole again and find himself before they can be one. But there comes a point when these two just realize that they both need each other. And while Ezra may not be completely whole again he is working on it. And I think a part of him needs Aysa there by his side. Because I think in some way trying to be whole again also means showing her how much she means to him.

They take things slowly almost as if starting over and learning to love each other again. The love is still there and it never died but in a way they are starting fresh. Ezra wants to do right by her and I completely loved and respected him for that. These two are so perfect together. You can feel the love between them. Ezra was just amazing in proving his love for Aysa. He has grown so much in this book and is so different that the boy that we first met. He seems more alive and happy. I loved him in Sparrows and my heart hurt for him but I fell in love with him all over again in this one. There is just a lighter side to him that I loved. And you see how sweet and living he truly is.

There are so many things that I loved about this book but I have to mention Aysa’s relationship with Knox. I loved the moments that they shared together. You could see how close they are and how much they care for each other as friends. And it’s not just because he is Ezra’s brother. These two have this connection that I think whether Ezra was in the picture or not, it would always be there and they would be friends no matter what.

Doves For Sales is the perfect conclusions to Ezra and Aysa’s story. I loved every minute of it. I loved watching them grow and never lose hope that they would find their way back to each other. They had their struggles but they fought through them. Another great job by Ms. Felix. I cannot wait for Roman’s story. That poor guy.

I have to start by saying that I was patiently (and by patiently I mean to say anxiously) awaiting this book to be released. This book picks up 7 months down the road, from "The Breakup"at the end of Sparrows for Free. I felt as though we were picking up with almost two completely different people! That is how much Aysa and Ezra have changed since we last got a glimpse into their lives. So it's been 7 months and Ezra is trying so hard to be the man he needs to be, and the man Aysa needs as well. Aysa has been busy moving on with her life is such a positive way. I am so proud of her! Other characters are still in play here as were in the first of the Sparrows series, and some I am so glad, are gone for good! (**wink wink**). What is more important in our lives, friends or lovers? Can Ezra win back the girl he loves? Can Aysa maintain her newfound identity amidst all of the events occurring?

I relate to Aysa in this story as well. Most (or all) of her issues with her family have been conjured up in her head. She made the best decisions possible even when it hurt and even when she wasn't used to making decisions at all! She is trying so hard to figure out who she is in relation to her life, and deciding what she wants for herself. What is she to do, now that her life doesn't revolve around someone else's tragedy? I love seeing her come into herself and into the strong person she was always meant to be!

By far the best part of this book is that THERE IS NO MORE CABINET!!! No place left to hide!

This is the 2nd half of Ezra and Aysa story! (If you missed Sparrows for Free [Amazon] don't miss it). This story starts pretty much where we left off in Sparrows for Free, they are broken up and figuring things out about themselves before they can be together again. Ezra has been in therapy along with Aysa. Roman has been around a lot to help Aysa...which is good...and bad.

This is a great and powerful story. I absolutely LOVED these 2 characters! I love how they had to make themselves better before they could be together and work on being a better "us". I loved the new Aysa we get in this story, which is totally different from the previous story! Her relationship with Knox is great, they were always making me laugh. It was great seeing Ezra work so incredibly hard to become better, not just for himself but for Aysa as well. I felt bad for Roman though and I really hope he gets his HEA!

You'll have to grab this book if you want to see how their story ends...will they get their HEA? If so how will they get there? Will it be enough this time?

Doves for Sale is what I would call a ‘big goofy grin book,’ as that is what was on my face for nearly the entire thing; I loved the fun-ness between Ezra and Aysa, yeah their lives are still pretty crazy (who’s isn’t, really?) and they still had stuff to work through, but I was just in love with these characters getting back together and finding some stability and trust between them. Then there was the new relationship between Knox and Aysa, and their banter that at times had me laughing out loud – he is my new favorite supporting character….at least for this month. While this book didn’t have as much conflict as Sparrows for Free, it provided that “sigh” worthy HEA that I love. I truly did love this book and do recommend it, however you must read Sparrows for Free first, or else it will feel a bit lacking – the hardest parts of Ezra and Aysa’s story can be found in the first book. While this book had some difficulties of it’s own, it wasn’t nearly as heavy nor, thankfully, as melancholy.

Doves for sale is such a great continuation of the beautiful relationship of Ezra and Aysa. These two unique individuals are two damaged people trying to heal to be better for themselves and hopefully each other. I love how in this book they each grow and mature and have time apart to really work on themselves. I feel like they each had to be apart in order to be better together. I just love these two characters, they are people that you would want to know and hang out with. This book is about relationships, both friendships and love relationships, both kinds are essential to have in life. Read this wonderful 5 star book!

Let me tell you hope much I enjoyed the story that Lila gave us with these characters from beginning to end! So much, that is how much! I love all of the intertwined stories and relationships and how much she shows you that the characters have grown individually to get to where they needed to be together!!

Yes!! I made it, how I finished it I will never no.

I am glad everyone else loved. This series was just a miss for me.

This book dragged almost as much as the first one did. Aysa is just never happy. Poor Ezra, good luck with that!!

Eh...it was ok. I'd read the first one so long ago it took ages to remember what had happened, so I didn't really connect with the characters.
