To be clear, I only read the chapters in this book that related to painting with acrylics, and those chapters were wonderful.
I wanted to go to art school after high school, but was convinced by well-meaning people to take Graphic Design instead. Now, at 40, I still yearned for art training, particularly painting with acrylics. I've been painting and drawing off and on for the last 20 years, but am mostly self-taught and was getting a little frustrated with the slow progress of my development as an artist.
After watching YouTube videos (mostly Will Kemp's Art School) and reading this book (and this book was really key to many elements that have helped me improve my compositions and the play of dynamic colors, contrast, and elements within them) I feel that I've now managed to gather some knowledge from that elusive art school I've always longed for, and to improve my paintings by scores, to the point of finally being able to sell them, finally capturing those professional tips and tricks that really elevate your work. It's amazing what a little knowledge can do.
My only criticism is the high focus on landscape painting, when my work is solely people and wildlife.
