Power in preaching is generated through the spiritual logistics of your relationship with Christ. God’s most dynamic work in the life of the preacher is ordained through the most ordinary of moments. You cannot separate the public ministry of the preacher from his private life. Join Dr. Kuykendall as he leads you through the steps to building up the preacher’s private life.
I found this book to be very encouraging and enlightening. As an aspiring preacher I am looking for resources that will improve me towards becoming a minister, and this book was a perfect fit for me. There were two ideas that resonated deeply with me. The first was that I need to live every day as if it were the only day that will be examined by the judgment seat of Christ. The second was that I can do nothing more important in my ministry than spend time with God. This book was well thought out and well documented. His bibliography added many books to my “want to read” list on goodreads. I appreciate the time, effort and forethought that went into ‘The Private Life of the Preacher’ by Kenneth Kuykendall.
The one negative I had about it is in certain chapters the author overused quotes. It seemed like I was reading an eclectic work. Overall a very good book, though.
