I really enjoyed this book, it’s the second book in the series.

Alma and the others continue on their journey through the Deadlands and yet they can’t seem to catch a break. It was hard reading about their pain and suffering, I kept thinking will it ever end? I really do hope the group can end the corruption and life will get better for all of them.

Songs for Sinners is the second installment in the Unmaking Trilogy; a bleak, fantastical horror series. This installment holds the same intrigue as the first with a natural story continuation and near constant dread.

I really enjoyed this follow up to Hearts of Hellfire. The stakes are painstakingly high and the group comes under constant danger which kept me consistently engaged and filled with dread. The world is dreary and it’s impossible to know what’s lurking around every corner as we travel the Deadlands.

The evolving interpersonal relationships felt like natural continuations from the previous installment. The way the author builds upon the story feels fluid and thoughtful. The preternatural and fantastical elements remain intriguing and original, with the events here managing to be even more gruesome than the first.

As with its predecessor, the narrators of this audiobook did a superb job bringing life to the characters. Eric Fox and Leslie Howard are a dynamic duo and lend authenticity to the characters. This is an easy and engaging listen.

Really enjoyable second installment in this three-part series. Songs for Sinners follows the core characters and their group as they make their way across the treacherous and unpredictable deadlands, encountering hardship and horrors (both human and otherwise) along the way. Characters are put to the test, new relationships develop, and some unlikely heroes (and anti-heroes) emerge. The story is suspenseful and exciting, focusing on both post-apocolyptic and supernatural themes, and there are a number of satisfying twists throughout - particularly toward the conclusion. Looking forward to part three!

Things get even more harrowing in this second book to the Unmaking Trilogy!

I really love the concept of this series. The post-apocalyptic setting and the contaminated world really gives such a fun opportunity for stretching the limits of the imagination with delightfully grotesque and unique monsters.

Songs for Sinners takes place entirely in the Deadlands as the group journeys towards their destination… and they have it really rough 😅 Things don’t go well.

I can honestly say that I have no idea what to expect in the final book. But I am definitely looking forward to it!

An excellent follow on from Hearts of Hellfire. As the group head for their destination, they face many dangers and horrors along the way. The cliff hanger at the end is totally unexpected. Bring on book 3. Very highly recommended. I received a complimentary copy from the author and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

The second part of the trilogy is even more scary. The journey of the survivors out of Gloam is challenging. They have to pass the dreaded Deadlands. I liked the  graphic description of the Deadlands with its mutants, cannibalistic predators and the tricky terrain.  The tenacity of the survivors who battle on amidst the gloom and doom situation, is admirable. The characters are well portrayed.

I was so happy to jump back into this world and continue the journey with all these characters. I am so pulling for them and I was met a few times with heartbreak. I am so nervous yet excited for book three at the same time. I am so invested in this world and this story.

Dangerous travels

This book quickly becomes a page turner. Our group heads off through the Deadlands on a quest to end the corruption. But it seems nothing passes through there untouched.

Another fantastic book from Abe Moss! Loved the first one, really loved the second! I might’ve even enjoyed it a bit more than the first. My theory was right about baby Chance as well! I can’t wait to see how the trilogy ends. Starting Dance with Devils right away!
