When Dianne Jacobson returns to her home town of Wichita Falls, Texas after a fifteen year absence, she hopes to find peace while recovering from panic and anxiety brought on by a mugging in New York City. The last person she expects to see is her first love, Kip Mahan–the man she left without explanation more than a decade ago.
Kip Mahan never expected the woman he couldn't forget to walk into his life at the Equestrian Therapy Center. He doesn’t know why she left him, or why she’s back now with a haunted look in her eyes.
Slowly, the two find their way to the love lost years ago. But when Dianne’s ex-husband tracks her down, it puts not only their newfound love but their very lives in danger. Will Dianne’s destiny slip from her grasp before she’s even found it?
Winona Bennett Cross is a resident of Southeastern Oklahoma. She is a retired Registered Nurse and began writing following a disabling fall. Writing began as journaling, then a hobby, and recently as an avocation.
Winona is married and has two sons, two daughters-in-law, and two beautiful granddaughters. She remains obsessed with horses despite her age. She owns a very picky Calico cat.
I immediately fell in love with these characters embracing both their weaknesses and strengths. Guaranteed to peak your curiosity and see what happens next!
This wonderfully easy read is perfect for a large glass of ice cold sweet tea on a lazy Sunday. Take Rip from Yellowstone and drop him into Sleeping with Enemy to rescue Julia Roberts and you have this book.
Winona Cross is a friend and fellow dreamer. While reading romance isn't my usual I did enjoy her solid writing style. The story is something you can relax into. I know it's part of a series that has the scrimshaw doll featured but I think I would have liked the story better without that part in it. Silly I know.
I think Winona is talented and I look forward to reading her other works in future. Maybe I'll get lucky and she'll write in multiple genres. ;)
