I'm a single mom to two great kids, living in Wisconsin. When i'm not writing, i'm either reading or doing fun stuff with the kids. summer is spent with the kids, family & friends, going to concerts, going to the beach or just hanging out in the backyard with a bonfire and laughter. I am a die hard Green Bay Packers fan & will watch every game & yes, I even plan my days around the Packers when it's football season.

Right Kind of Wrong- March 18th
Lost & Found (coming this summer 2017)
I got a baseball series in the works. It will be a 3 book (or more) series. I hope to have them out in 2017
I also got a small town romance series bugging me to write, this will probably be a 4 to 6 book series.
Emily Hayes knew she needed to leave her home in Wisconsin if she wanted to find happiness. It wasn't that she didn't love her family or friends, but as a preacher's daughter the expectation to do right all the time was wearing. Moving to Arizona, Emily quickly finds herself enjoying her new life and teaching position.
Xander knew Emily was going to be trouble. Emily is innocent, beautiful, and so far out of his league. Xander is jaded, determined to stay that way, and unable to keep away from Emily. The only girl he cherishes is his own daughter, but Emily is quickly find a way to nestle herself into his heart. Xander tries to push Emily, but it backfires in a hard way. Can they wither the storm that is brewing between them?
Fantastic read. It was intense and you never deny the feelings each other have, but it is hard to trust when you have been burned. Emily I never felt was naive, but she is so sweet it makes it harder when she gets hurt. Look forward to more in this series.
Emily Hayes is from small town Wisconsin and a preacher's daughter to boot. When she lands her dream job in Phoenix, her parents are not happy with her. Emily packs up what few belongings she has and moves to Phoenix with her cousin Mel. Shortly after her move, Emily goes out with Mel and a few friends "bar hopping." They end up at a small bar called "Harlie's" and that is where Emily sees him. Dark brown eyes, cocky smile, and a body that would stop traffic....in other words heartbreak.
Emily's first day of class and she meets Harlie, one of her kindergarten students. What follows Harlie stops Emily in her track....him. He is Alexander Hunt, Xander to his friends, the dark brown eyes, cocky smile, and traffic stopping body from the bar. Oh No. Emily attends a barbeque with her friend and co-worker Reese who happens to be friends with Xander. The little tidbit Reese forgot to mention. When Emily runs into Xander, again, she can't stop the butterflies any longer. After the barbeque, everyone jumps on their bikes and rides in honor of Xander's brother, Nathan, who was killed in a motorcycle accident. At the end of the night, Xander knows he has to fight his feelings for Emily. He has sworn off all relationships since Harlie's mom walked out 3 years ago. At the end of the ride, Xander takes Emily to his favorite spot overlooking the city and tells Emily they can never be more than a one night stand.
After Xander takes Emily home, she realizes she has to have this man if only one time. She dresses in her sexiest outfit and goes to the bar where she finds Xander alone. Emily offers Xander the one thing he can't resist....her. Then she shocks Xander by offering to be "friends with benefits" and that is a proposal Xander can't resist. Slowly they both begin to fall in love but Xander keeps denying his feelings for Emily until a near fatal accident slaps Xander in the face. With the thought of loosing Emily he rushes to her side realizing he does love this woman and he will do anything to save her.
The book is a real page turner and I struggled to put it down. The story starts out simple enough...small town girl breaking away from the mold and finding herself in the city. What she doesn't count on is meeting someone like Xander. Xander has sworn off relationships since the mother of his child walked out on them. What he doesn't expect is Emily. The book starts out with how their relationship builds then a tragic accident nearly shatters them both. This part had me teary-eyed as the author writes a scene as it is happening but you find out it is a dream. After the accident Emily and Xander are finally together and trying to deal with their pasts....Xander's many one night stands and Emily's parents. The author does a great job of creating emotions in the reader. You cheer for Emily's spunk, hate Xander's womanizing ways, fall in love with Xander, and cheer them on to a happily ever after.
This has an outstanding plot with some interesting characters. Two people trying their best to make the best of what they have. One not looking for more than a one nightstand they other isn’t sure what she is looking for. All it took was one look and the two were hooked, both fighting feelings from different sides of the track. This is a hot steamy read but not full of every sex act that they have, I liked that.
Xander tries so hard to come off the bad boy but deep down he is a sweetie with a heart of a marshmallow. I really liked him but at times he wasn’t my favorite person. I know and understand where he is coming from. He is scared of giving his heart and having the one he loves walk out on him again. He said and does some very hurtful things but in the end he turns out to be an upstanding man. I just love his daughter she is a sweetie, so grow up for her age. She tells it like it is with so much love to give.
Emily tries her best to walk away from Xander but the pull is just to strong before she knows it she is in over her head not knowing which way to turn. Emily is a very sweet girl but being a preacher daughter I didn’t expect her to have the mouth on her she had. She lost a lot of my respect when she talked to her parents the way she did. I just would never have thought she would have cursed so much around them.
For me the story was to long, a lot could have been cute out and it would have made a much better read. There are a lot of repeats things said over and over again. It really was a lonely story but if you have a problem with the F word you aren’t going to care for it. It is uses A LOT. I thought the characters sounded much young than they were where Xander daughter seemed to be more adult than the adults.
The things I did enjoy from the story were the compassion the two found, how Xander kept her safe and really did respect her. He found sometimes you need to say what you feel before it is to late. He has a lot to overcome with a very painful past. I loved the fact that he was up front from the start with all his women. I found him to be a very truthful person. Emily had a hard time sticking to her guns but when one is in love that is the way it is. She really is a wonderful caring person who gives so much of herself to so many. I adored Xander’s family they were the sweeties most caring giving people. There were some wonderful characters in all their friends. I even found myself chuckling a time or two. The title fits the story to a T and I love the cover. I am giving this a 3.65 and rounding it up to a 4 star. Both character grow and it does have a great ending.
Firstly I want to address some of the other reviews before writing my own. Yes, I will agree that there are some grammatical errors that I think mostly were just simple typos. This is pretty much the only reason I am docking it down half a star. Also, to all of you who are saying "I would never speak to my parents this way", you need to remember that this is not you. This is a fictional character. Being a preachers kid myself I completely understand the things she does and says. To be honest I believe if Emily was a real character then she would probably be acting out a whole lot more than she did in this book.
Xander and Emily have very different pasts and are very different people when they meet. Even though both try to deny it they quickly start to fall in love with one another. Emily is the daughter of a very stereotypical southern family. She moves halfway across the country to try and learn how to live her own life and figure out who she is without the influence of her overbearing parents. Xander is a ladies man and after being hurt he refuses to ever love again and only uses women to fulfill his 'needs'.
Shelly captures the personalities of these very different people to the t. These two are hot and cold with one another and you either want to shake the nonsense out of them or kiss them for being cooperating. Her words keep you turning the page to find out what happens next. Xander and Emily have real life insecurities that we all get at times. It does not help that they have her parents whom do not approve and still try to control her. I truly hope Shelly later on decides to write more about some of the other characters. I could see this being an incredible series my dear! I fell in love with this book and all of the characters that I was actually quite sad to reach the end. I was truly affected by these characters and am exited to read more of her work!

"He's my Right Kind of Wrong mom."
4 Stars!
This was a good story. I liked Xander and loved his relationship with his daughter. I love stories about single dads! I don't know what it is about it, but they seriously always get me!
Emily was hilarious. I can not believe how many times I was laughing out loud because of her thoughts or what she says. I loved her personality. The funniest part was when she decided to get waxed!! I died laughing. It totally reminded me of my sister! I had to share that part with the girls from ILST and we all had a good laugh reading it!
I did feel that Xander and Emily's relationship did progress pretty quickly. They met and shortly after...they were a couple. I know at times that happens; however, I knew she's a Pastor's daughter and I was expecting something a little different. Emily is the perfect example of a child that has been tied down her whole life, but then grows up to be a little on the wild side! I did at times have some mixed feelings with the way she talked to her parents. Over time, I got over it, but I did think she could have showed a little more respect to them.
Overall, this story was good. It was steamy, realistic, and full of laughter! If your looking for an easy read that will give you a little of everything, I would recommend this! I'm looking forward to more from Shelly Jones!

Right Kind of Wrong is a book to fall in love with. The characters have everything against them and yet they fight to be together. Emily is innocents personified with a preacher father, coming from a small town where women had a certain place in the family home, and no real experiences. Xander is her complete opposite, he owns a bar, has a beautiful daughter, a family that supports his choices rather than stifles them, and sky's the limit on women as long as it is one night and leave them.
What neither bargained for was meeting each other. Emily is able to burrow into Xander's thick protective hide all the while she is hiding how she feels about him. This is only the beginning and the easiest trial.
I gotta say I enjoyed it. I felt it dragged on in a few places but made up for it in spades in others. I was completely gutted in one scene and she did it so well I still think about it. Well done on that one Shelly. It about made me throw my Kindle I was so upset. I felt crushed for Xander. This book has characters you will absolutely love, some you will want to smack, and others you just want to take the gloves off and throw down. A book that garners so many emotions is worth the mention, share and read! And just saying, Lance (drool) and Alexandria were the perfect choices for cover models!!
Emily is a teacher who recently moved to Phoenix from her small town in Wisconsin. The preacher daughter who was supposed to marry her childhood boyfriend but decided she wanted more against her parents’ wishes. She wanted more in life and to find herself.
Xander co owns a bar and has a five year old daughter. He has a string of one night stands and do not trust women after his wife leave him and his daughter months after their daughter’s birth. Sworn off women, he does not do relationships as he does not let any get close to him and his daughter. The only room he has in his life is his daughter, his family, friends and motorcycle.
When they meet there is instant chemistry that neither expects. Both knowing they are bad for each other but they cannot resist each other. When she makes him an offer he is not able to refuse as they find themselves falling deeper for each other but unwilling to say the three words to each other.
Will they be able to trust each other and admit their love before it is too late? Love strikes when we least expect and not always the person you imagined. A typical love story with its less than smooth path but flows.
Emily Hayes is the preacher's daughter in a small town of Wisconsin. All Emily wants to do is spread her wings and break away from her simply life. Well she doesn't have to wait long because she lands a job in Phoenix.
Xander is your sexy cocky bad boy who has sworn off relationships. When he meets Emily he has to fight his feelings for her. Xander has a 5 year old daughter who he cares for alone after Harlie's mother walk out on them. Emily on the other hand refuses to give up so easy and offers Xander a deal he can't refuse. This is where things heat up. These two are a prefect match.
I know emotional roller coaster is used a lot in reviews but honestly I'm not sure of how else to put it. Right Kind of Wrong is definitely a page turner, once I started I could not put this book down. The title of this book "Right Kind of Wrong" pretty much sums it up.This is my 1st book from this author and if her other books are as good as this one I've definitely found a new favorite author. Take a chance on this book I promise you will not be disappointed. I rate this book 5 stars
I don't even know where to start. Be prepared to be taken on an emotional roller coaster that you'll never get enough of. Meet Xander Hunt, sworn off of relationships and stubborn as ever. Then you have Emily Hayes who escapes her childhood home to finally find herself. When the two of them meet they both know they'll never be the same. Emily knows exactly what she wants and who she wants - Xander. But the stubborn man that he is he tries to fight his feelings to protect himself and his daughter, Harlie. I have wanted to slap Xander one moment just to want to kiss him in the next. This book had me cussing, laughing and crying. Their relationship is anything but traditional but we learn that somehow love always finds its way. Shelly has done an amazing job bringing these characters to life and I promise, you don't want to miss out on this. Definitely a 5* read, if I could, I'd give her more.
Shelly was kind enough to give me her ARC for an honest review... A small town minister's daughter moved to ARizona for a different life, to get away from her shell binding home/parents. She meets bad boy Xander who is completely wrong for her but oh so completely right. These two have chemistry right off the bat and fight their feelings for one another, until the day something happens to change that. The storyline is fast, keeps you on your toes, but there were a lot of editing issues that need to be fixed. I also had a problem with seeing as how Emily, a ministers daughter, would have the kind of mouth on her that she has and would speak to her parents the way she does. I'm all for bad language, but overusing the language can distract the story at times.... With less F bombs and exclamation marks, you would have a very good story.. Shelly does have a way of telling a story.. She has great potential...
Emily and Xander's stoey. Is an amazing love story, one of the one-in-a-lifetime kind.
They go through so many stages in their relationship. And your emotions will be all over the place, that I can assure you. You go from wanting to suffocate Xander to loving him dearly. The emotional changes this character goes through are amazing, and are told spectacularly by Shelly Jones.
Emily's character is my favorite charcter in this book. She is such a strong character, the way she fights with all she has to get the man she loves is so compelling. Love her. Harlie is such a cutie in this one, great characrer for the age she has, is refreshing in the moments the needs it, to have the input of this kid and the sweetness she conveys.
There are other characters that will make you love them. There are others that will make you hate them. As I always say this is a trait of good writing.
POP ROCKS who the hell doesn't love these little candy's that make our mouth tingle. Well Emily sure as hell does and for that matter so does Xander. This explosive relationship is one from out of left field. A pastor's daughter who is a teacher and wants to spread her wings, a motorcycle riding bad boy who doesn't need a women in his life just occasionally in his bed. When they both meet sparks do fly, but neither of them want to walk on the dark side. That is until Emily can't take it anymore and offers Xander a chance at both worlds. The sex is explosive, but it's the lives that are going to get hurt that really makes this book explosive. I loved this story and the writer was spot on with these two characters who try their hardest to ignore what's right in front of them. The Right Kind of Wrong really is that and the love story is so powerful you can't help but want more.
I really loved this book and the minute I started reading I did not put it down until I finished and loved everything about this book. Xander was just freaking sexy hot bad ass tattooed biker/father who always put his baby girl first before anything or anyone. Emily comes from a small town and just blossoms into this awesome girl once she moves to phoenix and I just love the way she went after what she wanted the first time with Xander. I love the way she spoke up to her parents about her relationship with Xander and I just love the chemistry between Xander and Emily. Her insecurities got annoying at times but its understandable. I love their happy ending and their new addition to their family. THe book was freaking awesome.
This book is absolutely amazaing. I couldnt put it down. It is great when you see two people who are so perfect for eachother but they dont realize it. I love that Xander isnt perfect. He is such a wonderful dad who puts his family first and that makes him even sexier than if he were the traditional bad boy type. And Emily is so strong and fearless. It takes so much courage to do what she has done, moving across the country away from everything she has known. There were times in the story that I was so mad because they couldnt see what was right in front of them. There were also times when I cried.
Oh and dont get me started on the Pop Rocks! Probably my new favorite candy.
Wow I loved this book. I want more of Xander and Emily!!! It took me 10 mins to get past the cover as o my the cover is fabulous. If I could give more than 5 stars for this book I would. This book is fantastic be prepared to be taken on an emotional roller coaster of a journey I have fallen in love with Xander and Emily story. I have cryed lol omg wanted to put my kindle down and not finish reading cos I was an ugly mess but I couldn't not read it. I started and finished it in 2 days. There love let's you have hope it's a fantastic read not going to go to much in to it as I don't want to mess anything up for anyone but read it wow congratulations shelly wow just wow!!!!
This is a story of two people who by society are wrong for each other. Emily is the "good girl" with a religious upbringing but she screams inside to be her not perfect self and not what her family expects. Xander the typical bad boy from the outside is just wanting, needing to find that right girl. And this is when the you realize there really is such a thing as Right Kind Of Wrong! Now what are you waiting for? #ReadOn
oh wow I loved this story from picking it up to putting it down. afew, pages I skipped hence why I didnt give it 5*s but still a brilliant story. the characters I love esp Emily she what every book should have. defo worth a read
I loved this story I don't that two cover models have been perfect for the couple in the book. Xander and Emily show that love is worth the fight. Xander bad boy through and through but all girls love a bad boy. Emily is feisty and will fight for what she wants and believes in.
Felt like I was watching a tennis game because of all the hot and cold attitude between Emily and Xander. Few writing errors and other than that the story was ok.
The story line could have been really good, but the writing just was not good at all. Many typos and grammatical errors including an overuse of commas and fragmented sentences. The characters were kind of flat, juvenile, and the h changed drastically about midway through. She turned into the most nasty mouthed h I've read about in a long time. The story ended up being extremely predictable and not very likeable in my opinion. Save your money because this book is most definitely not worth $3.99.
Good story. It was very interesting. However, the grammatical errors were plenty throughout the book and very distracting. It needs to be edited and then would be a lot better.
