Lately I've been reading a lot of heavily-themed stories so to lighten up the mood, I immediately pick up the next chicklit on my To-be-reads. And I found the perfect medicine to my dramatic woes. The Wedding Haters. And believe me, soon-to-be married girls, you might just be spending the next hours second-thinking about your entourage after reading this book. Beware of the wedding haters!

Madison (Madie) is happily engaged to Cole, a professional comedian and the light of her life. She's got great friends who gladly help her out with her weddings. Things get sidetracked when her grandmother (who doesn't really favor her that much) insists that she include her two cousins, Ellie & Stephy, to her wedding. Now imagine these cousins as Drisella and Anastasia of the Cinderella story. Yes, the two evil stepsisters. Madie freaks out, she thinks her dream wedding of the century will turn into the nightmare of the millennium. What does a budding personality slash cookie designer slash hair stylist gonna do with her two mean cousins?

You'd be surprised how everything turns out in the end. It was totally riot and full of surprises!

I enjoyed reading Melissa Baldwin's book. It made me laugh and forget about the heaviness I felt before. Totally relaxing and happily cringe-worthy. I would love to read all the other books she wrote because I am sure, they're all entertaining and amusing! The perfect book to read before you sleep, guaranteed to give you sweet dreams!

Did I enjoy this book: I really did. It was a fun read that anyone who has planned a wedding will find humorous! If you are currently planning your wedding, I would save it for your honeymoon! ;-)

We join Madison and Cole as they plan their wedding with the help of Sienna. We pick up shortly after An Event to Remember . . . Or Forget leaves off. (You can see my review here.) Madison has an idea for her perfect day in mind, but as with most weddings, things don’t go exactly as she hoped. Her grandmother and cousins all have opinions about what should and should not happen with the wedding, including changing the plans Madison already made. I love Madison’s friends Sienna and Abby. Cole’s parents are such sweethearts. We also get an update on Ace and even Luke!!

I laughed out loud. I gasped out loud. There were a few times that I just stared at the book with my mouth hanging open in disbelief. I couldn’t put it down. I loved it!

Would I recommend it: Absolutely! If you liked An Event to Remember . . . Or Forget, you will definitely like this one! And even if you haven’t read An Event, you will like this fun chick lit read.

Disclosure: I did some editing work on this title. After that work was completed, I was asked by the author to review the book. I received a copy of this book for review purposes. Although I was compensated for the editing work, it in no way affected the outcome of my review. My review is my honest opinion of the book.

I was given a copy of this novel in exchange for my honest opinion, and it was an enjoyable read. Although this is the second novel in the Event to Remember series, and I've never read the first book, it didn't affect my rate for Wedding Haters. Melissa Baldwin does an amazing job painting the picture of what life is like for Madison Wales. She's a hairdresser, her fiancé is a comedian, and her best friend is an amazing wedding planner. So what could go wrong with planning her wedding, right? Wrong! First, she's put on the spot by her grandmother, telling her she needs to put her cousins in the wedding. Her cousins bullied her when they were younger, but of course the grandmother always took their side. Then, things start going awry with the once perfect wedding. Although this was a light, fun read, I love the slight suspense that was also present in the novel. It was a little hard for me to get invested in Madison's story at first, but once I finally did, the story was actually an enjoyable read, and I'd recommend it to readers.

Wedding Haters is an entertaining chick lit / romantic comedy wedding themed story that will keep you in stitches!

In Wedding Haters, the second book of the Event To Remember series, author Melissa Baldwin weaves a sassy tale that follows the wedding planning trials and tribulations of bride Madison Wales. Told in the first person narrative, the reader follows Madison and her best friend and wedding planner Sienna Harris as Madison's perfect bridal plans are sabotaged by her meddling Grandmother and evil cousins Ellie and Stephy. Can Madison and Sienna save her wedding dreams and get it back on track, or should Madison and Cole go the easy route and elope?

This was such a fun and lighthearted book to read, it had a great mixture of family drama, humor, romance, and a touch of mystery that kept me engaged and laughing as I followed the unfolding of the craziness of Madison's wedding planning debacle. Anyone who has been down the wedding planning route can relate to the craziness of the event, and how the best laid plans can unexpectedly go awry, especially when meddling family members add their two cents in the mix. I loved the witty dialogue and dramatic interactions between the characters; the wonderful friendship between Madison, Sienna, and Abby; and her sweet romantic relationship with Cole. I love reading wedding themed chick lit stories, and this one had just the right amount of entertaining drama and humor intertwined with an intriguing mystery twist that easily earns two thumbs up!

Wedding Haters is a fast paced and thoroughly enjoyable chick lit story that will leave a smile on your face.

I read "Wedding Haters" without having read the first book in the 'Event to Remember' series. It's definitely easy to catch-up with this second novel.
"Wedding Haters" features Madison "Madie" Wales as she's nearing the end of her wedding planning for her marriage to Cole. But soon, meddling relatives come a running and Madie is forced to include her estranged cousins, Ellie and Stephy, in the wedding party. Madie can't help but feel pressured and as wedding plans go awry, she has to wonder if her cousins are behind this scheming? Or, is Madie really getting cold feet?
As she struggles to get her wedding back on track, with the help from her friends Sienna and Abby, Madie is immersed in her cookie design side business and making small talk (and more!) with her future mother-in-law, Susan.
As the wedding approaches, Madie's wedding is surrounded by drama, but manages to maintain her composure throughout most of it.
I enjoyed the extra bit of drama in this book - it was less about the wedding details and more about the friendships and relationships that bring everyone together.

Wedding Haters by Melissa Baldwin was a fun book to read. It was a nice break from the past couple of books that I have read because they were more heavy so this was a great book to squeeze in. I had a whole range of emotions while I was reading this book and I would lie if I said I didn’t enjoy it. There is something to be said for books that keep things light and easy to read. This is the first book I have read by this author and I have truly enjoyed her writing and this book. There were parts where Madison did get on my nerves because at times she had a super hard time making decisions but that is just because I am 100% the opposite of that. If you love chick lit books than I know you will love this book as much as I did.

OMG its such a jolly story. I breezed through it in a couple of hours. Exactly like a fun filled easy on the eyes romcom with you favourite actors. The drama especially one with wedding as its central theme is always fun. The situations had the right amount of drama, witches and humour. I absolutely enjoyed this wedding - its lovers and haters were great and made for a smiley giggly read. Pick it up and gain a tip or two if you getting married in the near future.

Oh my gosh - another stupid freebie. I skimmed so much. There was just so much I didn't give a rat's rear about. I love an easy read from time to time, but this was just agonizing with the stupid details.

Disappointed

The main character is more concerned with the, drama of her cousins than her own wedding. I grew very tired of the constant created drama.

Read the first book and really enjoyed it. The characters were charming and I wanted to get to know more about them, hence why I moved onto this one. I wasn't disappointed, I read the book in a couple of hours. It is a fun, curl up in a chair read that you can enjoy without having to think too much about what is happening. I will definitely be reading the next book in the series.

Entertaining read

Entertaining story but not well written. Repetitive language makes it difficult to read at times. As the author matures it will be interesting to read her books.

Wedding Haters is the second book in the Event to Remember series. It picks up just a little while after book one ends. This story is told from Sienna's best friend Madison's point of view. It's about Madie's wedding and the events leading up to it, which is planned by Sienna and her company Sheer Happiness Events. Again, there is a rollercoaster of emotion and circumstance as Sienna, Madison, and Abby navigate their families, wedding planning, and big life changes. Nothing seems to go exactly as planned, but in the end it all turns out well.

I felt this book was a great addition to the series. At first I wasn't sure I'd enjoy reading the story told from Madie's point of view. In my experience, sequels told from another point of view always feel forced and fake. However, Melissa Baldwin is an amazing author who was able to keep the genuineness, realism, and detail of each character's personality consistent with what was in the first book. I'm excited to read the third and final book of the series and then check out more of Melissa's work!

Having just finished a mystery with plenty of twists & turns, I was ready for something light. This was the book I picked. Madie is getting married to Cole and their wedding is anything but simple. Plenty of drama and comedic moments from every corner. It's a wonder that these two walk down the aisle instead of running off to elope because everything that could possibly go wrong, does. I'm happy to see Madie putting her foot down and clearing the air but wonder why it took so long for her to do so. The book ended on a positive note but there are things that could definitely carry over into other books as this series seem to revolve around a group of friends and special events in their lives.

Wedding Haters, Event to Remember book 2, takes off where An Event to Remember...or Forget book 1, left off. This time Madison is getting ready for her wedding to Cole. Madison is a freelance hair stylist and has a cookie baking side business called Cookies by Madie, while Cole is a stand up comedian. Sienna is trying to give Madie the wedding of her dreams but she runs into a few snafus! Madie's awful cousins--Ellie and Stephy want to be in the wedding. They have their own opinions about matching bridesmaid dresses, the bachelorette party, and a girl's Vegas trip. This story has a lot of twists and surprises which I enjoyed. This was an enjoyable chick lit book which I read in one sitting. I am ready to see what happens in book number 3!

Ok

The first book in the series had a bit of stilted dialogue and confusing jumps from scene to scene but this one was way worse with the weird jumps and lack of clarity as to who was speaking, etc. Honestly this book was just frustrating because the whole wedding drama was exhausting and didn’t even have a happy resolution. Literally Madison’s wedding was completely destroyed and even the next day she was still focused on the drama rather than enjoying being a newly married couple. Just not a big fan of this book. Although I’ve loved all of Melissa Baldwin’s other books that I’ve read thus far. However this series is just not really doing it for me in terms of how awkwardly it’s all written.

This book is written through the perspective of Sienna's friend Madison and the subject matter is her wedding and her family. We also get to see how things are going for other characters that we were introduced to in the last book. There's a bunch of drama going on but I'm generally a lot more tolerant of characters in wedding scenarios, I'm not sure why but its not a true wedding unless there's some sort of angst happening whether its movies, books, or real life. I'm curious about the next book so I'll finish the trilogy soon.

Overall I enjoyed the book. Will probably read it again, which is pretty good praise from me. Sometimes the drama was a bit much. I eloped when my ex and I got married, so I can’t say for sure what I would have been like, but I’m so not about drama these days, so I really can’t relate to bridezillas. I do know I probably would have told off my family long before she finally did. Still, overall an enjoyable story.

Madison just wants the perfect wedding and her fiance is fine with eloping since planning the wedding is stressing her out. Once her two cousins get involved with her wedding everything starts falling apart. Her friends try salvaging some part of the wedding she wanted. Crazy hijinks happen and the fun begins. I voluntarily reviewed this book.

Family interference and weddings! Oh my...

Event planner Sienna's best friend Madison is getting married! When things start getting out of control, it's not Madison's fault, it's actually her cousins who try to call the shots.

Once again Ms Baldwin gives us a story of great characters, humor, and love. It's an unbeatable combination resulting in another fun book!

This was a free download from BookBub. It was rough (grammar errors!), but free is free. It was a sweet story, but extremely predictable. A quick read, and who can turn down a free book? Not this girl!

Horribly written. Confusing story line

Honestly, I thought this book was written by a high school student. Very simple and lots of grammar errors. I usually like stories written in first person, but this wasn't a good first person.

Rom-Com and Mystery

This book has the makings of a delightful romantic comedy and mystery rolled up into a nice wedding package. It even has a fairy tale like spin on Cinderella. Enjoyable read.

It was nice to have a lighthearted read while so many other things in life are stressful. Several of the dramatic conflicts were nothing I would care about, but mostly lighthearted.
