She reveals how the many archetypes of the Goddess, including Isis, Ishtar, Brigit, and the Black Madonna, can become our allies for self-transformation. She explores Mysteries at the heart of Christianity that have remained hidden for nearly 2,000 years and how the Gnostic goddess Sophia is tied to the Second Coming, Mary Magdalene, and the Female Christ. She reveals the lost teachings of Jesus about the Divine Mother and Father and about the Divine Daughter and Son.Through her story and her in-depth research, McCannon takes us on a journey to awaken the creative power of the Divine Feminine within each of us. I think this book reveals some incredible information. Both with historical trends and teachings that as a Catholic educated in Catholic schools K-college... I found fascinating and blew my tiny mind to bits. Is this book for everyone? No. Does it feel, as people say, "woo-woo" at times? Yes. Is it still a valuable jumping off point if interested in the divine feminine, in bringing the world back into balance in a high level look at the various goddesses from around the world and time? yes yes yes. Well written and easy to read.. it only took me so long because I've been reading other books.
If you have ever wondered how we have lived for so long in a patriarchal society, this book will give you many answers. McCannon demonstrates how the church usurped the various goddess roles and turned them into saints or holy women to be prayed to. A tweak here, a twist there, and voila the goddess became a martyred saint. The author also does not skirt the issue of the church murdering thousands in the name of God. McCannon calls for us all to become aware of the role of the female and male energies within each of us and to work to bring balance within ourselves. It is her hope, and mine, that one day there will be no need for the conflict which has been part and parcel of our existence for so many, many years.
it is not the most scholarly book on the subject though I’d say this author did her research. She references Joseph Campbell more than any other source and the author doesn’t give proper credit to authors, like Diane Eisner or Neumann for example, who really helped to pave the way for this discussion. It shouldn’t be a criticism that it’s written in a digestible and personal way, but I found her writing style and artwork that accompanies the chapter topics a little adolescent so it cheapened the content. There are valuable gems of information throughout so it was worth it to read it cover to cover. Chapters 14 and 18 were the best chapters, which covered information on Mary Magdalene I had never read before. It’s a good gateway book into the subject.
I loved it! I highly recommend this book, it is simply a great connection being made with deeper understanding, more open heartedness, as well as a purer view into grasping Creator Source, Feminine and Masculine, as She has experienced coming into knowing and grasping a relationship with Our MotherFather Creator. Even as I try sharing how I was moved by reading this book, I really can simply say: It's worth the time and attention, One would put towards diving into it. Very well written in getting her ideas across and leaving a good feeling Spirit felt connection upon you.
What if you were to read that Mary Magdalene was the same as Jesus in spiritual form? Spiritual advancement depends on the balance of both masculine and feminine energies. Isis and Osiris, sound, and light, mani and padmi, yin and yang...Tricia informs about our feminine roots in civilization, its decline, and the gradual renewal we are experiencing. An inspiring read for reflecting and adjusting any spiritual bias in your practice.
I couldn't finish this because I got bored around the part where she was explaining the old, inaccurate mythologies involving the Goddess. What I read was just ok.
I thoroughly enjoyed it. As with a lot of these books, you take want you want from them and leave the rest. I took a lot from this and it’s lead me on to wanting to know more.
The Divine Feminine has been unacknowledged for too long. I personally appreciate all of the Goddesses and especially the Great Mother of everything. Learning about the horrid atrocities that women went through for millennia is heartbreaking. Thank you for enlightening me with the hope that we are changing our outcome from the inner knowing and believing and doing!
This book was beyond what I expected. Not only was it full of history, but was also full of esoteric knowledge and thought provoking ideas. I learned so much about myself, and about the nature and essence of us all. This is a beautiful read that I will be using as a reference and intend to read again and again. I highly recommend it to anyone looking to understand more about the Divine Sophia and what she truly represents.
I read this book years ago and bought it again. Ooops. It has a lot of historical information in it. Alot of reference to the Mary's and Her gospels. So much of our spiritual history is attached to what men did or felt...it's nice to see a text with more references to the unmistakable feminine Face of God. I would recommend The Sophia Code by Kaia Ra if someone is looking for a text dedicated to that Feminine Face. It changed my spiritual life.
The best book about the true spiritual Ensight I have ever read.
Tricia covered every aspect of the spiritual understanding. I have read nothing like in my entire life. A true spiritual leader. If I read it twenty times, I know I would get that many different inflections from it. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND EVERYONE to read it at least once.
The assimilation of so much wisdom into one book. One narrative. Highly recommended.
I found myself researching deeper into many of the revelations of this book. It pulls from many sources to form a coherent picture of the evolution of humanity back into balance.
Fascinating and informative! The easer must always be vigilant- much of the writing is highly emotive and conjecture. In the end, the book stays on track with the focus on the feminine and the world’s deep need to return to those principles. Love. Intuition. Compassion.
One of the most amazing books of the year, so far. I find this book to be remarkably helpful for those who want to break away from the shackles of organized religion.
An excellent book with so much depth. layers and layers of information on a wide range of topics, which all related back to the core theme ie rise of the divine femminine. I learnt so much from this book and it sparked my curiosity for various other topics. It is an ideal resource book to go back to time and time again. I also liked the structure the author used which mapped her journey and the learnings coming from each stage. Would recommend as a must read.
