One last summer with their friends. One moment that changes everything.
Now there’s a baby, a town full of opinions, and a love that has to grow up fast.
With everything changing around them, Mitch and Callie have to figure out if what they’ve always had is strong enough to carry them through what comes next.
Heat of the Moment is a summer nostalgic, small-town, friends-to-lovers romance about consequences, Gods grace, and choosing each other anyway.
Mitch and Callie’s friends have always known they’ve loved each other. A couple weeks before the 4th of July they decide to start dating, but not tell anyone until they’re sure it’ll last. One thing leads to another and Callie’s pregnant. Like all small towns, everyone starts talking. And with the two of them being young and in the church they know they’ve messed up. But they go through it all together. The gossip, the yelling from parents, the constant questioning of marriage and how on earth they’re going to get through it all.
This book was really well written and kept me reading. All the trips to the cottage, small American town and going to the fair made it feel so summery, a perfect beach read.
Mitch and Callie suited each other so well and I was rooting for them so much!!
Thank you to Jordan Riley for letting me have an ARC of this book! I was so impressed!!

I’ve read Jordan Riley’s other books and have loved every one of them, so I was really excited for this release. Unfortunately, this one wasn’t my favorite.
First, I loved Callie and Mitch. I enjoyed watching both of them grow throughout the story and navigate such a life-changing situation together. Since the book centers around a teen pregnancy, I was especially excited to see how they would handle all the challenges that came with it. I loved seeing the beginning stages of that journey, figuring out how to tell their parents, processing everything, and trying to navigate what their future would look like. I also enjoyed that this was Wrenley’s cousin Callie’s story. Since we first met her in Love on the Line, it was fun getting to revisit that connection and see her get her own book.
I do wish we had gotten Callie’s POV when she first found out she was pregnant. I would have loved to see her taking the test and processing those emotions in real time. At first, I thought that was my only disappointment, but then came the nine-month time jump.
My biggest issue with the book was that we jumped from Callie being around eight weeks pregnant to a point where the baby was already three months old. For me, that skipped over what felt like the most important part of the story. We missed the pregnancy itself, Callie adjusting to all the changes in her body, preparing for motherhood, the birth, postpartum recovery, and those first few months with a newborn. I also would have loved to see moments like choosing the baby’s name and making plans for their future. There was so much growth and development that could have happened during that time, and I really wanted to experience it alongside the characters.
Overall, this was a mixed read for me. I enjoyed the characters, their growth, and the concept of the story, but I couldn’t help feeling disappointed by how much of the pregnancy and early parenthood journey was skipped. Even so, Jordan Riley is still an author I love and will continue to read, and I’m looking forward to whatever she writes next 🫶🏻

Immediately Jordan Riley sets the scene of a small lake town and all the perfect sights, sounds, and scents of summer that left me wanting to be in the story.
Callie (FMC) and Mitch (MMC) are fresh out of high school graduation and exploring their feelings for each other and crossing the boundaries of friendship into something more. Drunk on new love and the excitement of their new relationship they let themselves become intimate in a way they didn’t intend to.
Their lives change when Callie becomes pregnant. Their summer is no longer days at the lake with friends, day drinking, and nights by the fire. Callie and Mitch now have to grow up quickly, tell their families not just about their relationship but that they will be parents. There is so much they don’t know how to do and they are scared but they know they need to figure out.
As a reader exploring faith centered fiction it was refreshing to see characters that make mistakes and aren’t perfect or claim to be. Callie and Mitch struggled with the guilt of their sin and the judgement they not only placed on themselves but received from their community.
Mitch and Callie together and on their own go through the toughest season of their life and together grow in love and in faith. Seeing them mature as the book progresses was heartwarming and you couldn’t help but hope for happy ending.
Jordan Riley wrote a story where we’re reminded of Gods grace and how we a blessed to have a loving Heavenly Father that sees our hearts and will bless us with the opportunity for redemption. A reminder that we don’t have to be out past or mistakes. We can grow from them.
Thank you Jordan Riley for the opportunity to be an ARC reader for Heat Of The Moment.

I cannot believe I just wrote the words above me for the first time. Thank you Jordan for taking a chance on me it means the world.
Heat Of The Moment is a coming of age, faith filled, love story that showcases two teenagers Mitch and Callie. A perfect summer quick read for anyone who wants a good time with a light hearted yet gritty and touching book.
Mitch and Callie are so sweet. I love how the grow and mature through the book. I really love how they deeply communicate with each other.
I really enjoyed how the book fluctuates from the funny and cute moments to the emotional and touching ones. I love a well written found family and I have to say this book delivers just that. I also love how faith and God are a central aspect in the story.
But to me what really stood out in the book is how vulnerable and honest the story is. The characters imperfections the way they deal with their struggles makes us connect with them on a deeper level. This book showcases real life problems and how real people deal with them. The MMC and FMC are human they both make mistakes, they fight, they cry, they feel. And this is what took the cake for me in this story.
This book is about life changes. The big deep kind that changes everything. It is about growth. It is about grace. It is about true friendships and how the real ones stick around. But most of all this book showcases that we might not understand God's plan for our lives but He is in control, He is merciful and graceful and He makes all things work together for the good of those who love Him. (Romans 8.28)
Heat of the Moment pulled me in from the start and kept me turning pages late into the night.
What I appreciated most about this story was how it showed that one unexpected decision can completely change the direction of your life. Mitch and Callie are suddenly faced with a future neither of them planned for, and watching them navigate that reality felt genuine and heartfelt. Their journey wasn’t easy, but it never felt forced or unrealistic.
Mitch was easily my favorite part of the book. Time after time, Callie seemed prepared for him to walk away when things became complicated, but he never did. No matter what challenge came their way, he remained by her side. His loyalty, patience, and commitment spoke louder than any grand romantic gesture ever could. Seeing him continue to choose Callie, even when life became messy, made their relationship incredibly meaningful to me.
I also loved the lake-town summer setting and the close-knit friendships woven throughout the story. The supporting characters added so much warmth and made the world feel lived in and authentic.
The faith element was especially impactful. Rather than feeling preachy, it was naturally woven into the story and served as a reminder that God can bring purpose and hope even when circumstances don’t unfold the way we expected.
This book made me smile, made me emotional, and left me thinking long after I finished the last page. If you’re looking for a Christian romance that explores responsibility, commitment, and the kind of love that stays when things get hard, I highly recommend Heat of the Moment. ☀️🌊🍓
🫐🧨🩷 The dynamic between a these friends is the first thing I noticed! They all have a bond that just steals your heart right away! Obviously the relationship between Callie and Mitch is so stand out! The best friends brother trope has always been one of my favorites and I love that this didn’t come with any drama or anything that the traditional stories have.
I loved how a multitude of different family dynamics were focused on here too! Callie had the storybook supportive parents while Mitch did everything possible to please his parents to no avail and you see how that doesn’t magically change later in their story either.
As a girl re-learning her faith, and growing her relationship with God, Christian romance books have been such an outlet for me. The same stories I love but with less of the things I don’t need. The lesson of the Grace of God was so good and so important. No matter what you do you are always worthy of Gods love. As a Christian you feel the need to be perfect and that mess ups are the end of the world but this book shows that you have to take responsibility for your actions and it doesn’t disqualify you from the love of God.
You see how this new responsibility changes everyone differently, especially in a small town. Mitch being so sure of his future with Callie and stepping up for her was so sweet. Watching those two continue to choose each other was so important because that’s usually where young parents can struggle and not enough books show that even though they struggle they still know that the end result belongs to them.

This book is perfect for the summer, the lake vibes, the hot weather and Fourth of July. It just screams summer!
I really enjoyed this story and I think Jordan did an incredible job shedding light on a situation that young people can find themselves it. Getting pregnant at a young age, it not being planned and it being outside of marriage is scary. Jordan showed us how the two main characters navigated that life, trying their best to put God at the forefront. Even though it was hard. We got to see the real feelings that each went through, both with each other, their friendships and their families.
It felt real!
The only thing I thought was missing in this book was more of the main characters' growth in Christ. We see that they attended church prior to their relationship, but we don't see much else. Yes they prayed a couple times and their families attended church. But I was wishing for more of their walk with Christ, especially after we find out their pregnant. I wanted to see them navigate life more before they had Landon.
There were a couple typos, but nothing too bad. I do think the story flowed nicely, even with me wanting a little bit more of it all. I enjoyed the POV changes too!
Overall this was a wonderful story, I loved that this was my first book by Jordan! And I truly believe this story will help someone not feel alone.
Thank you Jordan for this ARC, I truly appreciate it and was incredibly happy to read it!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ARC Review – Heat of the Moment by Jordan Riley
Heat of the Moment is a heartfelt, emotional coming-of-age romance that explores the realities of young love, unexpected consequences, faith, and forgiveness.
Mitch and Callie’s journey felt incredibly authentic. Their transition from friends to something more was filled with the sweetness, tension, and uncertainty that comes with growing up and facing life-changing decisions. I appreciated that the story didn’t shy away from difficult topics but approached them with grace, compassion, and a strong Christian worldview.
The small-town setting added so much warmth and nostalgia, while the lake house memories and summer atmosphere made the story feel bittersweet and immersive. The faith elements were woven naturally into the plot, highlighting God’s grace without feeling preachy.
If you enjoy: 🤍 Friends-to-lovers 🤍 Best friend’s brother 🤍 Small-town romance 🤍 Christian fiction 🤍 Coming-of-age stories 🤍 Emotional, character-driven reads 🤍 Fade-to-black romance
then Heat of the Moment is definitely worth adding to your TBR.
This story is a reminder that mistakes don’t define us, grace changes everything, and love can endure even when life takes an unexpected turn.
Thank you to Jordan Riley for the ARC opportunity. All opinions are my own.
This book immediately drew me in with the nostalgia of those years before life's responsibilities really begin—when your biggest concern is figuring out what you and your friends are doing that night. It perfectly captures that fleeting time between adolescence and adulthood, making it impossible not to reflect on your own memories.
What I loved most was Mitch and Callie. Their relationship felt genuine, mature, and deeply connected. While everyone around them was still carefree and focused on themselves, Mitch and Callie were forced to grow up much faster than their peers. Despite the challenges they faced, their love never felt performative or influenced by what others expected of them. They built a relationship that worked for them, staying true to each other rather than bending to outside opinions.
Their connection was one of the strongest parts of the story. The way they supported one another through life's challenges was both heartwarming and inspiring. I found myself completely invested in their journey and rooting for them every step of the way.
This story was equal parts nostalgic, emotional, and beautifully written. It reminded me that growing up doesn't always happen on the same timeline for everyone, and that sometimes the strongest relationships are the ones built on understanding, trust, and choosing each other every day. I absolutely loved this book and won't be forgetting Mitch and Callie anytime soon.
First of all, thank you so much, Jordan, for trusting me with an ARC of this book! 🥹🤎 I was so excited to get the chance to read it before release!
This was such a cute summer read!! ☀️🌊 Think small-town, friends-to-lovers, first love, lake days, and a beautiful reminder that God’s grace is bigger than our mistakes.
Mitch absolutely stole my heart. He was so patient, steady, and just wanted to love and care for Callie. I also really loved the message of grace throughout the story and how God doesn’t stop loving us when we mess up.
My only complaint is honestly… I just wanted MORE. 😂 Give me another 100 pages!!
I would’ve loved to spend more time watching Mitch and Callie grow! not just together, but individually and in their relationship with Christ. I also would’ve loved more of the pregnancy journey, seeing them process everything, and diving a little deeper into the family dynamics.
I especially connected with Mitch and Macy’s relationship with their mom. That storyline felt so real to me, and I would’ve loved to see even more healing and growth there. Which I hope to see in Macy’s book!
Overall, this was such a sweet, summer story that left me smiling and remembering that God’s love is always there even after we make mistakes. 🤍 If you’re looking for a wholesome Christian romance with real, flawed characters definitely add this one to your summer TBR! ☀️📚
My thoughts: Yet another phenomenal book by Jordan! I couldn’t put it down and loved every moment of it! Jordan took a hard topic and situation that people tend to look down on, and wrote it with grace, love, and light. I was very excited when I heard what the theme of this book was and it definitely didn’t disappoint. I knew I’d love Mitch and Callie and their story from page one. Everything about this book was amazing. The vibes were perfect. I loved the lesson about God’s grace and how even when we mess up, we are still worthy of Him. I loved how they both tried to do the right thing, even after they made a mistake. The way Mitch honored, loved, and provided for Callie and Landon was so sweet. I loved all the side characters and can’t wait for their stories and to see them grow and mature more. I didn’t relate to Callie very much but my heart still hurt for her and Mitch and what they were going through. I related a lot to Mitch and Macy though and can’t wait for her book. I’d 100% recommend this book and all Jordan’s other books!

Huge thank you to Jordan Riley for the eARC. All opinions are my own.
ARC REVIEW!!!! 🥰 I am so happy that I got to be apart of the early reading! I read the first chapter Jordan posted and was left wanting more. I have loved every one of the books she has published and I love how they are all connected in some way shape or form. Jordan has a way of drawing you in and connecting with the characters. She makes you feel like you’re sitting right there with them and going through all the emotions. ❤️ It’s nice having that connection and envisioning the story as you read.
Heat of the Moment - I love Callie and Mitch, like all of her books faith plays a big part in their lives and decisions and that hits home now more than ever. After having my son 10 months ago I could really connect with Callie and in her moments of motherhood, late nights, feeling alone at times, and everything piling up with the house. I love the village that Callie and Mitch had their support system was amazing and never letting things get in between their friend group is amazing their lake trips were my favorite parts really transports you back to your teenage years! 1000/10 ⭐️ ⭐️ Can’t wait to see what Jordan has up her sleeve next! ❤️

The summer lake setting is incredibly well done — rich, specific descriptive writing that doesn't rush past the small details. My Midwestern heart appreciated every bit of it.
The nostalgia and feeling of teenage love are captured authentically. "I loved you when I was too young to know what it was. When life was easy and we had no idea how big love could get."
Dual POV is handled well, both perspectives feel distinct, and the communication between characters is refreshingly realistic.
The biggest standout though is how it handles Christian fiction. No fluffy, sanitized version of faith here — it deals with accidental pregnancy, real conflict, and hard emotions without flinching. That balance is genuinely rare in this genre and this book pulls it off.
The one weakness in my opinion Callie and Mitch's childhood friendship. It's meant to be the emotional foundation of the story but it's mentioned more than it's shown, so it never fully lands with me the way I wanted it to.
Overall a really good summer read, especially for anyone burned out on unrealistic Christian romance.
I have said time and time again that the thing that I really enjoy most about Jordan Riley's books is that these characters truly feel real... like I truly feel like these could be people I know from my own hometown. Their faith is important to them, yes, but their walks are imperfect and they sometimes fall short. I think we definitely see that in Mitch and Callie's story as they find themselves fresh out of high school, unmarried with a baby on the way. That might not be something we see a lot of in Christian fiction, but it IS a reality that many young Christians DO face, and what I loved about Mitch and Callie's story is that it doesn't glorify the sin but instead reminds us that God's grace is big enough for it all. Their friends to love romance was sweet and brought all the small-town summer vibes. If you're looking for a Christian romance with grit, grace and growth, this is one to check out.
Heat of the Moment is a Christian romance with fade to black and minor language.
**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.
This book was genuinely so sweet and enjoyable to read. I wasn’t expecting to love such a country read😂! I really enjoyed the characters, Mitch and Callie were so great together and you can really see their love!!
I really loved the middle section of the book (roughly chapters 10-23) I was super locked in because of the high stakes, and I think Riley’s writing was best shown off in this section!
I did find the progression from her being pregnant to the baby being born quite jolting though, and wished that there was maybe some more time that we see Callie pregnant.
But I found the section where we see Mitch and Callie’s relationship after the baby is born to be very very sweet. I thought the author was very creative in how she made it work out for them to live near each other.
The ending was cute but also very predictable 😂
Was a very sweet and wholesome story, I’m very happy to have been given the opportunity to read an ARC copy!!!! Thanks Jordan Riley🫶🏻
MY FIRST EVER ARC!!! Thank you so much to the author for this opportunity :)))
I literally abandoned everything I was doing and read this in one sitting!!!
This story was so well written and such a fun easy read, but it also left an impact and proved how even if things don’t go how you may have pictured, God has a bigger plan.
I fell in love with Mitch and Callie and their friend group so quickly- their stories were authentic and real which made me love them even more.
The setting instantly transported me into a small town nostalgic summer and I already miss it.
ALSO the music and movie/ show references in this book were top tier! The playlist is such a vibe and I’m definitely going to remember the great time I had reading this book when I listen to them!
Overall this book highly exceeded my expectations and I loved it even more than I thought I would!!!
Get Heat Of The Moment by Jordan Riley on July 2nd, 2026!!!
I love how this book is filled with so much depth! Jordan has yet again written a book that covers a hard topic and filled it with love, forgiveness, and most importantly so much grace that is not earned, but freely given!
I really enjoyed getting to see all of the different personalities throughout this book between the new friends we got to meet (which I am so excited to see more of in the Seasons Of Love series), and getting a glimpse of Mitch’s childhood through reading about his family. I appreciate how Jordan brings awareness to different family dynamics in her writing to help her readers understand the main characters better. It also helps the readers feel more relatable to the characters which is really nice.
Also, I was so happy to see how our old favorite characters are doing! I love the update on Wrenley and Kayce, and Josie!
Heat of the Moment was such a beautiful, emotional read. It’s raw, real, and so easy to get lost in. I couldn’t put it down!
This story follows Mitch and Callie whose lives are turned upside down after an unexpected pregnancy. The way they navigate love and responsibility was handled with so much honesty and heart. I found myself tearing up and highlighting so many meaningful moments throughout their journey. 🥹
I especially loved the strong theme of faith woven throughout the story. It was such a powerful reminder of grace, growth, and trusting God’s timing through life’s unexpected circumstances.
I also really enjoyed seeing familiar characters from other series make appearance. It added such a fun and connected feeling to the story.
Highly recommend picking up Heat of the Moment when it releases on July 2nd!
I am so thankful to have been given the opportunity to ARC read this book. It was beautiful and real. The characters were relatable, and everybody was different. I love how this book isn't all the pregnancy, but also balanced with the aftermath. Raising a baby while unmarried and not living together. Handling the ups and downs together. The author intertwined God and faith into this book so seamlessly. I highlighted many quotes and cried my heart out. It was a journey, but one I was glad to bea partt of. ❤️ P.s let me just give some praise to Mitch. I love him. He was the most realistic, perfect man, and never left Callie. He was supportive and loving throughout all of it, and that's all we want.
I loved the entire atmosphere of this book. As a new mama it hit close to home watching our main character struggle with the newborn phase and trying to make sure she is doing everything right! I loved how real the characters felt. Underlying the entire story with a biblical theme but also still incorporating sin in a way that felt human was so well done! If you are looking for a fade-to-black summer nostalgia romance that has biblical themes while still being realistic about our humanity, Jordan Riley is your girl!
P.S. I love how she connects all of her past characters in with her new books it make me feel so happy when I can connect back to past characters through our new characters lens!
This book melted my heart especially when Mitch stepped up immediately to be a dad so young. I thought that she put a lot of depth into the characters and their story line. I really thought this in chapter 21 Mitch wanted a stable, loving home, with both parents, because he didn’t want his family to be like his, and his family story was very emotional and very in depth of how a family can be.
Callie is such a sweet girl who is trying to rearrange her life and I love how she has lots of emotions about what is happening. Like in one chapter she had three different emotions because everything is changing quickly and she has to plan her life early.
This book was a 5⭐️ for me and I hope more people enjoy this like I did.

So lucky to receive this one as my first ARC ever!! I’ve been beyond excited for this one!!
Mitch and Callie have my whole heart and Landon is the cherry on top because if a book has a baby involved, I’m in!! (Unpopular, I know!) I instantly felt nostalgic about this place I’d never been and these people I’ve never met. I love the dynamic of the friend group. I love the way faith is intertwined into the plot and the subtle ways God shows up for us!!
The reason I gave is it 4 stars and not 5 (not a bad rating at all btw!) is because I felt like we missed a lot of details. Even subtle things like certain imagery and descriptions would have really brought it home. I think the main thing I was disappointed in was the rushed feeling of the book and that we missed a lot of Callie’s pregnancy.
But I want to be clear, I didn’t dislike this book by ANY means!! I love these character and I can’t wait to see what comes next for them!!
EDIT: upping to 4.5 stars bc I can’t stop thinking abt them! Literally just wish it was longer!!!

Heat of the Moment is a story about friendship, love, mistakes, and finding grace. I truly loved reading this story. This book gave the ultimate summer, small town vibes and the story line of the characters just seemed so real and relatable. I did not want this story to end!
I feel like everything happens for a reason and I believe that this story crossed my path because God knew I needed to read it. This story was very real and I feel like it made an impact on me. A part in this story talked about how we can mistake God’s approval with people’s approval and this just hit me like a ton of bricks.
Accidental pregnancy friends to lovers he fell first and harder found family best friends brother faith themes
Jordan has done it yet again. She has written such a comforting read. This book took a hard trope to pull off and executed it perfectly. I feel like this book was done really well; it felt as though you were a part of the friend group. The whole time, I was so invested in all of the friends' lives, and I genuinely cannot wait for the next one!! I really felt bad for Mitch and Macy throughout the book, and I genuinely feel so much empathy towards Macy.
This book was very good!! I liked it a lot! I absolutely LOVE a friends-to-lovers romance so this was right up my alley!
It went through all of the stages of finding out something life changing like this so young. It felt like everything was handled very well given the family dynamics of Mitch and Callie’s family’s respectively.
At first, the time jump seemed very sudden but then I continued reading and it made a little more sense. There was more that needed to be resolved after the time jump or the book would have been way too long.
The friend group might have been my favorite part of the book! They were so supportive of Mitch and Callie’s situation and relationship, it was so wholesome!
🍼Teen Pregnancy 🌊Friends to Lovers 🍼Coming of Age 🌊Best Friend’s Brother 🍼Lake House 🌊Christian Worldview 🍼Summer Nostalgia 🌊Fade to Black
This book is absolutely perfect for summer! Heat of the Moment was truly so well written, Jordan took a difficult topic, not usually talked about, and wrote it beautifully! I loved the entire American, 4th of July theme this book had and it made for such a fun summer read!! My only critiques would be I would have liked to see the characters grow more in Christ, and there a significant time jump that left me wishing I got to see more of what happened during that time period rather than skipping ahead. I can’t wait to read more books by Jordan, she has truly become one of my favorite authors!
I received this book as an ARC in exchange for my honest thoughts and opinions!
This was my very first time having the opportunity to arc read and I absolutely was not disappointed!
I’ve read all of Jordan’s books now and have loved them, so I was not at all surprised when I fell in love with Callie and Mitch’s story as well!
I found “Heat of the moment” to be well written, as always, and the story flowed nicely! The only thing I was left wishing for was a bit more detail of the pregnancy itself, but overall, I loved it!

This was the perfect summertime book! I really loved this close knit friend group that was its own little family and the strong bond between Mitch and Callie. They had known each other for a while and I loved that we got to see different stages of their relationship and not just the very beginning. This teen pregnancy/best friend’s brother/friends to lovers/small town romance was wonderful and fun. Five stars
I was so excited to receive an ARC copy of this book. I am a huge fan of Jordan's work, and this one was no exception.
This story follows Callie & Mitch and the struggles of becoming young parents. It is written from a Christian perspective but captures the struggles of sin and fear in such a sweet way.
Jordan has such a way of making you feel like you are in the moment with the characters and I love the added touch of a playlist to listen to! This is a no spice romance!
ARC! This was my first book by this author and wow! I loved it! I haven't been able to find a faith based book that is able to capture imperfect characters until this book! Grace was a main theme in this book and wow from personal experience I needed grace! I fell in love with these characters! I cannot wait to read more by her!
