What do you think?

Smoke’s Birdie

Age Gap MC Romance
This is one of those feel-good MC romances with Smoke being an alpha, cinnamon roll type character. Birdie comes with emotional baggage as well as she was in the foster care system. I loved how patient Smoke was with her. This book was a page turner with plenty of action and suspense and giving me the HEA I had hoped for from Smoke and Birdie.

Birdie & Smoke
Overall, I feel I may have been a little harsh with my review, so I’m rounding up from a 1.5/5 to a 2. I would not read again or recommend. I actually regret reading this & I’m confused by all the 4/5 star reviews because there is no way that anyone actually thought this book was good.
The writing style ruined this for me.
It’s insta-love, which I don’t mind, but the writing is so direct that it’s hard to connect with any of the characters. This is a short story & the time frame flows with the theme of being a short story BUT a literal quote from the book that made me think, why tf am I continuing with this:
“She climbs on the way she climbs on now, wrong-footed still, but not careful with the bike, careful with me. Her hand on my shoulder. Her thigh against my thigh and then both arms around my ribs the way I taught her on day one and she has not forgotten.”
This was FOUR days after he met her for the first time. How is she going to forget something in four days. Also, how do you get on a motorcycle “wrong-footed”? The author wrote her character as though she doesn’t know how to take care of protect herself. She’s been alive for 20 years & grew up in the system. You would assume that she would learn at least something from her experience. She sat for 36 hours without sleeping, eating or essentially moving. & when she was kidnapped, instead of using her hands that were zip tied IN FRONT of her, she used her head on the front seat to lift the bag on her head. Be so freaking fr.
There is very little character descriptions & the repetition is so annoying. In regard to the sex scenes, I’m all for getting consent but every move does not need consent. Birdie was well aware she could say no & if she has no agency, she shouldn’t be having sex to begin with. Also, just because she doesn’t have her DL & birth certificate, no state would take her in as a ward. The author did not do the FMC any justice.
Another quote that makes ZERO sense:
“I take his head in both hands and I punch it once, hard, in the spot that turns lights off.”
How is Smoke holding dude’s head with both hands & punching him? He got three hands?
Last but not least, the first epilogue is listed as Smoke’s POV but it’s actually Birdie’s. There is also no conclusion with Darling - I’m assuming this will be a going plot to get her out.

This book is a fast paced ( and I mean really fast) , high drama, MC romance with the perfect amount of softness to balance the dark storyline. The quick pace is a bit disjointed at times , with a staccato rhythm of sorts, as it jumps around quickly, (sometimes really fast ), which was a bit odd, but I did like that it wasn’t overly drawn out.
There are also very likable characters, between the main characters and the supporting characters too. I love that Smoke is decisive in his attraction to Birdie, but mostly due to her core persona rather than her appearance alone. He’s also attentive to her needs, both the physical and emotional. Birdie might be young but has lived through a lot . Her acceptance of Smoke, as he is, makes the relationship more realistic. Darling, the only one that’s repeatedly referenced yet not “appearing” in person seems so strong just from the loving devotion everyone else has for her.
This is a nice quick read, with a bit of drama, heat (1.5/5), and emotions to make an enjoyable read. There is a bit of a cliffhanger in part of the background drama going on which it seems will continue into the next book on the series, but the relationship between Smoke and Birdie does have closure.

This was my first read by this author and I am a fan!
Birdie's friend, Darling, is missing. Birdie doesn't know what happened, but when Smoke shows up because Darling didn't come to dinner, he tells her they will find her, but it isn't safe for Birdie to stay here alone. He takes her to the MC Compound where he can keep her safe.
And once he finds her, he decides he's keeping her… because she's His! She's a little skittish at his attention, but he can tell she likes being with him. He just goes at a snail's pace so as not to startle her.
When Birdie starts to feel comfortable in the compound, she comes out of her shell. Everyone likes her! Meanwhile, Smoke is still trying to find Darling. And out of the blue, Birdie asks Smoke to be her first. Smoke is slowly building trust with Birdie, and he makes her feel save and loved. So, she wants to be with him.
This was a wonderful book! The characters were well written, and I enjoyed reading their story tremendously! I'm already looking forward to book 2!!!

DNF. Really badly written, no question marks when a question is asked, what’s the mfc’s real name? Everyone just calls her Birdie. 🙄 No idea how she met the lady who she lives with, as no details about anything!!
Sorry it’s really really badly written. It almost reads like a script for a movie, rather than a book. There’s no real details about anything, what’s Birdie’s real name? (As that’s the nickname that Darling gave her.) What’s Darling’s real name? What’s Smoke’s real name? How did she meet Darling? What happened to Birdie in the past? I’ve no idea about anything!! Then there’s the lack of question mark when someone asks a question. When Darling (AGAIN WITH THE NICKNAME!) doesn’t turn up for Sunday dinner at the mc, Smoke goes to find her. Smoke finds ‘Birdie’ sat holding a knife, and Darling is missing, after men tried to force her to sell her property. Smoke takes one look at Birdie and thinks mine. 😂😂😂 Yeah of course he does. He knows absolutely nothing about Birdie but still has their whole lives planned out! 🙄🙄🙄
Sorry it’s terrible.

I really wanted to rate this higher, but the style is just very choppy and quick - almost like someone is writing down details quickly for themselves so they don’t forget, or like a journal. It’s not a bad thing, just not for me.
The story thoooooo! It’s a quick suspenseful read, not heavy on the spice but there are a few implied spice scenes. Smoke…. 10/10… sign me up, I want one. So respectful, patient, and gentle with Birdie it will make you kick your feet! And that’s not something you often see with a biker romance, I loved it. Birdie has clearly been through a lot, I wish there was more backstory for her so we can really understand why she is as timid as she is.
All in all it’s a great quick read, fast paced insta love story with a big ole cinnamon roll alpha biker that’s perfect for when you are nursing a book hangover and need a quick fix.

A quick, action-packed read. When they find out Darling has been kidnapped, leaving Birdie behind, the club needs to find out why.
Smoke is sent to check on Darling and finds Birdie instead. Birdie gives him one lasting first impression. From there, she is his; she just doesn't know it. Birdie is taken back to the compound under Smoke's protection. Once the club finds out why Darling has been taken, they need to find out as much information about her captors.
Smoke takes things slow with Birdie because of the age difference but also her innocence. Birdie, who bounced around the system, soon finds a place where she feels love, wanted, and seen. Smoke is hers, as she is his, and he'll protect her with everything he has got.

This was another fun fast addition to the series and I really enjoyed following Smoke and Birdie to their HEA. While this story is a stand-alone, there is an overarching plot in terms of the villains and their objectives. I really loved how strong Birdie was and how she was ready to defend her mother-figure's home - don't mess with this girl. She has a big knife. Lol! When Smoke, big bad biker that he is, shows up, she makes him work for her trust. I loved his patience with her and how caring he was. Definitely a cinnamon roll alpha ;P These two deal with danger, action, suspense and their hot chemistry on their journey to a happy ending. I'm looking forward to the next book to see how things continue to unfold for the MC and the town. Good fun!

Are we against writing full sentences instead of fragments? It’s like the author was taking notes on what they wanted to happen and forgot to go back and fill in the details. There’s so many details and emotions missing. There’s also no proper punctuation to indicate what clearly are questions. Everything felt cold and clinical.
They even talk in a stilted way and everyone talks the same weird way. His thoughts sound just like hers. Neither of them have distinct inner voices. No one has a distinct outer voice.
I don’t know why but this part really bothered me and I never got over it through the entire book: 9% in- “four feet. I could make it in one.” no. No, you can’t. Four feet remains four feet regardless of how fast you cross it.

Smoke and Birdie’s story is a fast paced insta love MC read. It took me less than 1.5 hours to read and enjoy . The characters are developing nicely and the storyline appears to be working its way through a series to find the missing matriarch Darling. The heat between Birdie and Smoke is slow to develop due to their 12 year age gap as well as her history of foster care abuse, but once the training wheels come off, the heat rises ! I can’t wait to see where this series takes us, I just wish we had seen more of what was happening with Darling, but maybe next book. 4✨’s. Review of advance copy
This was my second book from this author, and I liked it… but didn’t love it.
It kind of reads like flipping through someone’s diary—more like random memories than a smooth storyline. I didn’t mind the vibe, but it did make it a little hard to follow at times.
I was into the overall story and rooting for the couple, and they do get their happy ending. But the main thing that brought them together? Yeah… no real resolution there, which made it feel unfinished.
Not bad, just left me wanting more.

Whew, Smoke and Birdie are definitely the epitome of every emotion! He sees her and knows she is his! A high heat MC romance with a possessive alpha hero! If these tropes are your thing, then you need to read this book!
Tropes: Age Gap Romance, MC / Biker Romance, Found Family, Touch Her and Die, Forced Proximity, Survival Heroine, He Falls First, lots of angst, Drama, steam, off the charts chemistry, and learning to trust!! Great read!!!

This is a MC Romantic Suspense, and this is the first book in the Thunder Bastards MC - Seattle. This is a short book. I like this book, but I think it would be better if it was a little bit longer with some more details. I felt we were dropped in the middle of a lot of drama in the beginning. I just wanted more from this book. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.

Smoke's Birdie is about an MC, where the members care deeply about women and help them out as much as they can. Smoke finds Birdie alone in a missing woman's home. Smoke knows Birdie is the one for him and he will do what is needed to make her his own. The characters and storyline have such a positive message. I really enjoyed this story.

Smoke and Birdie, age gap romance, on paper shouldn't go together but they do , they really do.
They meet when Smoke goes to see what’s up with Darling, the matriarch of the club ( former prez’s wife) , he finds her gardening stuff left out which she wouldn’t do, does unlocked but no Darling. Inside the house he finds a frightened young girl who turned out to be one of Darlings old foster kids. She came back to the only home and felt loved and wanted when she aged out the system.
She tells Smoke about a man taming her that had been around before trying to buy the land.
Thing is that’s not Darlings land to sell, now the club knows who and why she’s been taken it’s the where. The hunt for Darling is relentless and through it, keeping her safe and close Smoke falls for Birdie luckily she feels the same.
I like the characters and how they developed through the story, the search for the woman who is everyone’s mama, the relationship between the main protagonists and the war they will bring to the people threatening their family. I can’t wait for more

An Instalove story!
Good story that takes you not to the climax or the actions to the resolution. Make you want to know those actions and who needs stopping completely. Has a beginning, the start of a middle and engagement for the couple. I like standalones that build characters of the group with each story. This maybe a partial one. Glad it's on Kindle Unlimited. Will read 2nd story to see if it works.

The story and characters were great, I enjoyed the book, the only thing that got to me and why I didn't give more stars was the writing style... it felt choppy, I found it quite distracting and it spoilt it a little for me.
I will carry on with the other books in this series tho because I like the storyline and im keen to get to know that other members of the club and hopefully find out what's happened to their matriarch.
Definitely worth a read if u like MC instalove

When your mother figure is taken and a biker shows up to her door, what do you do? You ask the question that determines if you can trust him. You willing go with him back to his club house and fall in love. Like one does! Birdie and Smoke are the newest couple in the Liv Short world and they are so cute together. She is a wounded bird that finds her person in the strong man known as Smoke.

The was a great start to this series and I can’t wait to see how the series develops.
Birdie and Smoke are so sweet together but there is also a dark storyline which I assume will continue through the series as we didn’t get a conclusion. Can’t wait to read more.

Really good one. When you know, you know. Smoke knew Birdie was his as soon as he saw her. Birdie knew she could trust Smoke right away, and that’s a change based on her past. Good intro to this series. Great MC storyline with twists and several next novels. Good slow burn with spice. All around really good.

A fun, fast-paced, soft spice biker romance. Smoke is a cinnamon roll alpha who treats the timid Birdie with patience, love and understanding. There’s an ongoing mystery that remains unresolved and will continue in the next book—but, our couple earns their hea!

The twelve year age gap between Birdie and Smoke, doesn’t stop the attraction. Because of Birdie’s past in the foster care system she struggles in so many different ways. Once these two find the right moment it is heat and care.
Loved the characters, who will pull you in and support them, from the start.

A very enjoyable story. Smoke and Birdie have an immediate connection . Both carry a ton of baggage and are burdened with the weight of trauma.
It’s a quick, fast paced read, but I found the ending a bit sudden. The author created two amazing characters and I would have liked to have had a bit more time with them.
Definitely a talented author. I look forward to reading more of her books.

This feel-good story had me cheering on Smoke and Birdie. He takes her in when Darling goes missing and it starts their path. She is a sweet spirit that is bashful at first but soon lights up to Smoke in this story. It is well written and had me all caught up in the book.

This book is written different. Intense and exquisite are actually the words that comes to me, because it is written in a way that you understand more of the story like this than it being long and drawn out in chapters. I love these characters, I love getting to know all the characters and I’m looking forward to the continuation of the story and what happens to the other brothers.

a good read
I liked this story but I am a little confused as to what happen to her roommate. They were following up to find her and suddenly all talk stopped. Then it became couple news. This is an interesting story but it needed more depth to be a 5star read. Still worth reading. HEA, no cheating, no cliffhanger other than the missing roommate.

This was a weird one. Writing style made it seem like more of a report than a story. The premise was promising but the stilted structure just killed all the potential, I finished this through stubbornness and with the knowledge it would be over quickly. Not one I would read again and I really question how somebody could read this an give it 3+ stars with 2 I'm generously rounding up.

Quick read and totally worth it. Smoke and Birdie has a nice mix of action, danger, and a really sweet story underneath it all. There are some genuinely touching moments that hit just right. Easy to get through in one sitting and leaves you feeling good.

A well written story that made to want to read more by this author.

Ok
The characters were good and the storyline was good, but the story just kind of fell apart towards the end. Not any conclusion to the missing person, it was just more of the back story.
